genuinely one of my favourite games that I've ever played

I loved it as soon as I picked it up, the whole way through, and even now at the end

highly recommended to anyone that's not afraid of a quality visual novel with some great themes

please go play slay the princess and do it blind if you can. I promise you won't regret it :)

i have been following your blog for a while and saw a few of your posts about Jackalope. Here are my two cents:

You're worried because the ship is fucked up. Welcome to Rusty Lake. All the characters are unstable. None of them have good relationships. Jackalope fits right in. I think you did good to represent them in a respectful way, though, with interesting writing and an intriguing dynamic.

Embrace the fact that this ship is fucked up and that's okay. Get freaky with it. Don't hold back. This is your vision, and brother, we are seeing it.

My art of them consistently does WAY better than anything else especially on twitter, considering I don't even tag it. And people told me they like it so I know there's interest... Like... Way more than I ever thought there would be.

But I'm navigating a very delicate situation here. Writing and making stuff for something fucked up is sensitive. Ik I can be like "fuck it idc if this triggers anyone" and tag it in main, but I don't want that.

I'm very very fine with just keeping it in my circle even if I make bangers sometimes I wish I could tag in main. But honestly you guys support the art more than enough and I'm grateful and thankful for that 🥰

Jackalope is great, but it's not for everyone. And that's fine. It's just a ship and it's not worth making anyone uncomfortable for. It's not my responsibility to curate people's spaces and make them comfortable, sure. But I also don't wanna do nothing either.

Regardless I'm very happy with how well my art is doing. It already exceeded all my expectations. Like you guys constantly blow me away with the love and support you give my art. I can never ask for more.

I will try to embrace the fucked up nature of it more xD I know Rusty Lake is already messed up anyway. And I'm really glad you think I present the ship in a respectful manner. Like... That means a lot to me, more than you know.

Selenelion Update (Big One)

Alright. So

I've been mulling over this for a little over a week on and off, last night I finally talked to someone else about it and got some reassurance

I'm going to be putting Selenelion on an indefinite hiatus/rewrite period and deleting the current two chapters off of AO3

There are a couple of reasons for this.

as I've worked on it this month, I found I didn't like the direction it was going. Not even in a "i'm a writer and hate practically everything i do" way, but in a "this feels wrong way." The best way I can describe it is that it feels like an inaccurate portrayal of the relationship I've had in a my head and I want to do it better

I want to finish the series before I do the full arc of their relationship. Before I thought I wouldn't have to do this until I started learning more about the newest seasons (and Lloyd's character in them) and realized that as it stands, I think I could write a better series if I had more... i guess the best way to describe it is reference material? Especially because I think Jackie would be a major player in things involving Harumi and Garmadon's resurrection because of her status as a previous student of Garmadon's (as it stands I'm not sure if she pities Harumi or wants to smack her but it's probably both)

I want to give Jackie more of a starring role in her own story. When I first revamped my OCs, I took them from being super plot involved to being the opposite because insecurity is a bitch, and that left Jackie being kind of a footnote while the main characters did cool main character shit. To put it in perspective, Jackie was not planned to go with the ninja at all to fight Morro. Her boyfriend gets possessed by an ugly ass ghost and instead of going through hell and highwater (literally high water splashing every ghost she sees in the face) to rescue him, she got left behind.

So because of all of those reasons, I'm putting the fic back on the shelf for now until I can do it justice. This also means that I'll be deleting the current two chapters off of AO3 (don't worry! they are safe and sound in my google drive)

This wasn't an easy choice, I hate quitting things and I hate that it feels like i'm giving up, but I do plan to rewrite the fic in the future, probably longer than 10 chapters this time around.

I want to thank everyone who's supported the fic so far, it means so much that people enjoyed the chapters that were just about my favoritest child (Jackie) and rest assured she will get more of her own content in the future. Big thank you to toastingpencils37, who left comments and built confidence in me that this story is something people want to read

And thank you for reading this, I apologize for any upset this may cause, but for the sake of not just leaving the fic dead in the water (and my sanity as a writer), I feel this is the best choice

Hello Again!

I am - once again - checking in to say that I am still kicking around on this ball of dust we call "home."

.........In case anyone was curious (they weren't), I've gotten up to a fair bit in the last few... uh... hm.... let's go with 'a while.' I've started college, for one! That's neat. I'm on a fast-track to my associates and I'm not looking back!

I've also started learning graphic design, which I'm hoping to use to help improve this blog a fair bit! I'm really enjoying it so far, and I'm excited to see where it takes me.

Lastly (and probably the only thing you really care about): I plan on posting more to this blog! I have so many fun facts I've had bottled up for this almost two years?!? what??? Hi it's just to let you know that the official romanization of Revaan's name is Raverne ! Also they have romanized Baul's name to Baur !

Twst coming back at us again with the least expected romanization! thank you everybody (oh god my inbox) (no it's great, I literally asked for this and the reactions have been INCREDIBLE, thank you all!)

I do like Raverne though, I think it's got a nice fancy sound to it! (I had kinda suspected it was going to be an R instead of an L, so the fact that it's SO close to Laverne except for that is hilarious to me personally.) and Dragoneye Duke is honestly probably the best translation for his title, I wasn't envying the localizers that one. :') Baur instead of Baul I was NOT expecting, but in retrospect I think his name's supposed to be a reference to the Bauru crocodile, so that actually makes way more sense!

someone else also said Meleanor has become Maleanor, which is the REALLY weird one to me, because I was so surprised it was written as Mel instead of Mal in the first place?! oh god no I can't decide which one I like better. 😭 (I wonder if they might change it to Mal...they have made romanization changes before) (like I remember House of Distraction being corrected to House of Destruction in Playful Land) (I did check and she's still Mel for now, but I dunno, they might Mal her up and some point and save me from having to make a decision about which one to use) (HECK I CAN'T DECIDE)
