I don't normally write commentary for the fics I read, but I will make an exception.

-This is my raw opinion after reading, if you don't like it, too bad. (I do care, please don't harass me about it. It is just something I want to talk about.)

-Also, probably will delete this in the morning. I'm writing this at 2am and I feel the need to be insufferable about the soup that's slipping around in the noggin

This series is honestly tragic. I've read a lot of fictions, and this series handles Dead Doves in a tasteful way. It really isn't like others that I have seen where it romanticizes and shows a very... "Rose colored glasses" version. This gets into the grit and rot that lies in these topics. Its difficult to write about certain topics as is, but to frame it in a way that still shows it in the deserving light and not in a romanticized way is a talent.

Now onto the Reader's role as the victim and how it is portrayed. Chefs kiss, no notes. Beautiful and Tragic.

It is so nice to see T.S. get his karma and to watch as R untangles themself from the strings that he had wrapped around them. I often find it difficult to read stories where our view point is that of the abused due to my own history, I wasn't abused by any means, but I was groomed in my younger years during a difficult time by people I thought I could trust. I have been taken advantage of by people older than me when I was just too young to understand what was happening. So to see a character go through something similar and feel things similar to myself is in some odd way validating.

Back to the note about untangling strings, the way things unravelled honestly made that moment of when they decided to leave so much more impactful. Them having second thoughts because they in some ways believe that there is still room for change in T.S. I mean the sheer amount of lovebombing (and yes, I would consider some of those moments, especially in Ch. 5, lovebombing.) from someone that was essentially supposed to play a guiding role in their life. I mean, Father is the wrong word, but for someone that just swooped in and took them, deceiving them kindness, and then once he knew he had her, started down the horrible path, THAT AS AN ADULT he should have never taken. The idea that, "well he's back to the way he was when I was younger, before he got addicted, " is so hugely hinted at through the entire chapter. Seeing them detach themselves from him more and more, and then the moment they catch their chance to leave, they suddenly wonder that maybe, just maybe, he is turning around and being better. Which of course outside reasoning makes them take the step to leave. Which is damn near exactly what happens in life.

I honestly believe most people deserve second chances, but in some cases, the crime committed doesn't warrant a second chance. In this case the crime committed could never be paid back.

Even though this is fiction, I can't help but relate to some of the things that R is put through. It portrays real life issues in a masterful way. I honestly enjoyed reading this. I loved how much thought was put into the character's relationships and how it correlates to the storyline. The story takes time to view how the events affect each character.

Anyways I am gonna cut this here. I don't expect anyone to read this before I remember to delete it.

This was a self-insert of an Y/N for an AU I was making. I still have the AU shelved for maybe coming back to. What id gotten down at the time was that Y/N gonna be a security guard and in the beginning was gonna beat the absolute SHIT outta Moon cause he tried to scare them lmao

Moon would become absolutely terrified of them, and Y/N would feel like, SO bad. Because of this they’d try super hard to be nice and make up for literally sending them to P&S (a place they loathe)

Moon, seeing this would take advantage of it and try to get revenge by gaining their trust then doing…? Something? I hadn’t figured that out, but it wasn’t gonna be violent. Over time though, he would start to grow fond of them and start to second guess getting back at them. Then he gets the virus, and his negative emotions towards them get almost overpowering. So much so that he has a hard time keeping up the whole nice act. And any fondness would be completely erased (suppressed). That was as far as I got with it lol

This was a witch AU I had thought about where Y/N was hermit and… had some questionable practices that were illegal for some governing body of magic. Sun and Moon would be robots given life through magic, and would be sent to investigate them. I hadn’t come up with the designs for them yet, and I might still revisit it.

Anyway, Y/N would be completely caught off guard by their arrival and would desperately try to be accommodating while secretly trying to hide their illegal practices. They would be successful, but in the process would end up charming the brothers into wanting to see them more. Ironically because of their kinda skittish, awkward, and frazzled state. Like I said, they were NOT expecting company, and it’s especially bad because they know the brothers were sent to investigate them. Which means the governing body of magic is on to them somehow. In the beginning they’d be more caught off guard, but eventually Y/N would learn to hide everything better and know to expect them lol. They were also gonna have a cat familiar that could turn into a wispy spirit thing but I hadn’t figured out a name for it yet.

…Can you tell I really like void faces yet? I also ended up using the stars on the hat for my witch self-insert for hexciis Fae AU so I’d have to come back and redesign them. They were heavily inspired by Hexciis witch as well because I related to them so much. So I’d also change the witches personality to make them more my own since I have more experience with making characters now.

Lastly is a D&D inspired character. I’m not SUPER familiar with D&D, but it’s something I’ve wanted to try… I’m just a little nervous to lol. They’re a Monk Rouge multiclass who’s “haunted” (they don’t actually mind) by the spirit of a wendigo… who’s also Moon lol. Again, not sure if it’s even possible for a wendigo to haunt someone or if that’s even a thing in D&D… but I wasn’t exactly making them to actually play with it was more just a fun design thing.

Tbh I was expecting Hope to have a much more pained and tired expression on her face, but instead you took it a different route and made her appear in the mindset of "I'm going to look forward, because the past can't be changed and the present is what's most important to me." It perfectly encapsulates everything about her as a character. She's HOPEFUL. I think there's something uniquely so incredibly strong and admirable about that.

Also *cough* breaking the pattern of focusing too much on the suffering of a disabled character as a way to make them interesting, unlike another story with lions *cough*

That was my intention actually! Sadly with how the pages were paced, people thought Storm and Adamant were leaving Hope behind but I promise they weren't leaving her! LOL Adamant likely asked Storm how she escaped and everyone was distracted from there.

We want Hopeful to live up to her name for sure. But we don't want her to be irrationally optimistic either. And eventually negative emotions are gonna catch up.

This isn't to say she's going to be perpetually miserable, because. Well lets all be honest with ourselves. Viewing characters being perpetually miserable isn't engaging. (Especially if the reasons for their misery are within their control and its treated as everyone else's fault, and a lot of time unreliable narration isn't done well.)

I already have depression, seeing characters be depressed constantly, or being put down constantly, and never having a moment of relief is draining and dare I say, boring or mundane. And it makes the whole ordeal seem pointless. Even tragedies have big moments of happiness in them. It makes the tragic end hit harder that way. So when people just make characters miserable for the sake of it, it feels like they don't actually know what they want.

I completely get people writing tragedy and what-not as a kind of therapy for their emotions and getting to grips with them. We have no issue with that. When it begins to cross a line is when such a thing is done in place of any real, complex writing. "Write what you want" is becoming a pretty consistent mantra for those who do not want to accept criticism but when you explicitly make it clear that you expect people to relate to your writing - particularly those in minority groups that you do not belong to - "write what you want" should also come hand in hand with "write what you know".

Because I actually think people can excuse bad writing a lot of the time but what (rightfully) sets a lot of people off is when said bad writing involves something that is a serious topic and deeply personal to them, like their identities or their daily struggles. - Cat

I always thought Jerry would probably have some artistic tendencies, but keep it to himself because the Club members are so critical and nasty about everything. And he's the whipping boy. But it's not something I dealt with or gave much thought to. I could see him going whole-hog on D&D campaigns, mapping, designing characters, so maybe he took it farther and designed characters. It would make sense, a lot of DMs are creative beyond D&D. Writing, art, etc. I could see Jerry writing fan fiction. I don't see any of the Club having musical talent. Lack of patience and the fact that practicing would take away from their main hobbies. Drawing monsters is more like a Club-related hobby than playing an instrument, if that makes any sense.

Sally is feeling this all of the time, she is constantly in a fight or flight state, constantly terrified and is constantly crying. the 2nd form is only really retained by more powerful spirits like the puppeteer who retain enough power to contort their physical appearance to appear more visually appealing.

as much as i am for the 'cringe' and unrealistic side of this fandom which ofc i apply to some of my au's and character vers and i defo encourage that behaviour in this fandom because i LOVE seeing it, sally is the one character i cannot bring myself to be silly and goofy about, she's the only one i cannot envision in that whole family slendermansion thing. Her story is just too gruesome and i cant bring myself to do that. I really want to explore her character alot more espically with characters like lazari who i hc to be quite close with but kind of one sided? because sally is 90% non-verbal. Thats my vers atleast, YOU DO WHAT YOU WANT. i like seeing other persons interpretations of sally and stuff :3 this is me just overexplaining my vers.

there is an extremely compelling queer reading to be made of TBHX in general. I don't even mean like, shipping the characters. Something about this show just oozes understanding of the queer experience. The haircut scene plus this scene brings it to mind but a lot of the episodes have made me feel this way.

and also, love how this episode captures girlhood. WE know there's something up with this stalker but these two girls do not. it's honestly a pretty relatable situation for every girl I know where the ickyness of the world is basically a given but you keep on and make fun out of it anyways. girls supporting girls!

I love Loli's personality. She's a very convincing and well-written teenage character from her spontaneity, to the way she talks about her relationship with her dad, to the way she's got quite a bit of emotional intelligence that you don't see that often in other characters.

As a person with OCD, I really relate to Ragatha's struggles with being positive and a people-pleaser.

Ragatha is in a horrifically fucked situation, and, due to her own trauma, has been bottling up all of her negative emotions out of fear that she'll be perceived as a jerk if she expresses them even slightly.

And with Jax having his own unhealthy coping mechanisms, she's constantly having her buttons pushed because he perceives her kindness as manipulative to others (when it's more manipulative to HERSELF as she's trying to convince herself that everything is okay.) Her crashout is completely understandable.

But despite that, even though Pomni told her that it's okay to be a jerk sometimes, she still feels awful even after just a slight outburst.

I cannot tell you how many times I've had that same face Ragatha has after I've expressed anger towards someone. It's like "do they hate me now? Do they think of me differently? Are we not friends anymore?"

And also, I relate so much to the frustration she has with Jax! Like Jax is constantly bullying her (he threw her face-first into a DEEPFRYER last episode) and then she feels bad after ONE reasonable crashout. She puts so much weight onto every interaction, and then someone like Jax can just shove Gangle on the ground and go about his day.

Imagine how frustrating it must be for her to be putting so much weight on everything she does and says, and then to see someone else just go about their day and express their negative emotions freely and STILL be able to bond and make friends.

I know that OCD wasn't likely what they had in mind when expanding Ragatha's character, but her character is so well-written and human that I can really relate to her struggles in my own way.

I think overall Ragatha does a great job at representing why a lot of people-pleasers are the way they are, and why it's so difficult for them to properly express themselves. Whether that be because of unhealthy coping mechanisms, wanting to be accepted, or otherwise.

Till appears confused and uncertain before he grabs Ivan's hand (emphasis on the fact that Till grabs Ivan's hand). He then looks at Ivan (Till looks at Ivan, they actually meet each other's gaze for once and Till is the one that initiates it, should I just kms) and smiles at him and we can see the way his gaze physically softens

I think what's interesting about this to me is that it does confirm that kissing is still an act of love in the alnst universe, when the ivti kiss happened in r6 people were analyzing it and arguing that kisses might not have the same meaning that they do in our world but this scene seems to dismiss that argument

That being said, I don't think it's entirely appropriate to compare the MiziSua kiss to the IvanTill kiss because their circumstances are very obviously different, this is very obviously meant to be a gentle and loving kiss while the r6 kiss was a whole other issue lol

I've seen people say that the ending to alnst doesn't do Hyuna justice and that her character kind of got tossed aside but I think this moment and these lines disprove that

Hyuna is a very tragic character and also one that I think many can find relatable in the way that she spent her life running from her past. Every seemingly selfless decision she made held a secret selfishness as she sought to bury her pain beneath a sense of justice and Mizi was the only one that could see it (perhaps she saw it in herself as well)

I think people who see her as a dissatisfying character probably haven't listened to her sub songs

Hello everyone! I am not happy to make this announcement. I have given a lot of thought to whether to write something or just let it go, allowing time to take its course and see if anything has changed. But I fear that is not the case. I am also a little ashamed to talk about it, but I think it is right, both for me to let it out and acknowledge it, and for all of you who follow me and are wonderful people.

I fear that I have touched the point of burnout, or I am fully in it, I don't know. I only recently spoke about it with my therapist, and her way of dealing with it set off alarm bells. Something is wrong. It is my head that tells me that, but also my body, which has decided to play a little trick on me. Nothing to worry about, but those are signs not to be underestimated.

My current condition is a combination of many things, accumulated over the past few months, between my real job that I do every day, extra commitments that I have taken on related to that, family and relationship issues that lead me to live on a roller coaster, personal regrets, difficulties in relating to others. So many and too many challenges altogether that have put me to the test since last November. Rediscovering drawing was like holding on to a lifeline; it was a way to escape, hide, not face reality, and hold on to a dream that, well, is a dream, and I cannot currently rely on external factors beyond my control to be able to make it come true. I don't regret having started drawing again at all. On the contrary, I rediscovered a very important part of me, and I won't abandon it, and it brought me into contact with a beautiful community. But I also exaggerated.

I don't like to say this, but throwing myself into this comic project was a bit too much. The classic beginner's mistake, or my problem with the fact that I never know how to create short and simple stories XD. I know that it's nothing serious to stop, interrupt what you're doing, and take a step back. Most of the time, it's a sign of great strength and introspection. But at the same time, it weighs and burns a bit. But I just can't continue. So, for those who were following the story of Emmrich and Kate and wanted to know how it would develop, you can write to me privately and I'll share the summary I created, (I warn you though that it's badly written, I did it for myself and not for people to read it XD). I'm sorry.

I'll continue to draw, maybe I'll create other characters, I'll throw myself into experimenting to find my own way of doing things. It's not said that I won't return to do fan art of Emmrich and Kate every now and then, maybe I'll do something. But single illustrations and nothing more. As for comics, I really enjoyed approaching it and I find it to be a really beautiful medium, complicated like few things, but very creative and full of opportunities. Maybe later I'll do something again, but something very small and simple, if I can think of one XD.

In addition, I've noticed that social media has also stolen a considerable amount of energy from me, so forgive me if you see me interacting very little. I've never been very social, I'm a very introverted person who prefers to interact with a few people. And unfortunately, I see this reflected in social media too, alas.

So, don't worry if I don't answer you individually, and don't be anxious. I feel better the moment I became aware of my state and decided to take a step back. So don't worry, okay? I'll still be bothering you with my silly drawings. Oh gosh, listen to how serious this whole thing is hahahah. Maybe I shouldn't even do this, it's nothing special after all XD.

I know this pairing seems random because of the fact they barely had an interaction, but using the power of imagination and using canon stuff is what really got me into them.

I’ll just say this now, this is how iiii see them ME! I know others (like the very few of us that love them) can have different views on them, but I mean I love all dynamics for them sooo💕

Both characters have their share of Claw. Teru had to leave his parents because Claw members kept attacking his home and trying to kidnap him. He had to mature fast to learn how to live on his own and learn to protect himself at a young age. Also side note he’s not too close to his parents (as said in the fan book), they were barely home. He stayed with a household manager.

Shou is literally the son of Claw’s boss, also having to mature fast to rebel against his dad. He had to run away from home, look for other rebels, and plan ways to stop his dad. He probably had to deal with the whole Claw thing at a very young age too, PLUS the parental issues he had as well. See what I’m saying here??? The potential?? They’re like crazy different but crazy similar!! They can relate with each other rather than Mob and Ritsu who have fine parents and didn’t get involved with Claw til the events of s1. (Yes yes ofc Shou and Ritsu can relate with the whole over powered family member but we not talking about that rn)

Shou’s mom left Shou with his dad (also his dad didn’t seem to care at all about his family due to world domination) and Teru’s parents easily allowed Teru to move out and fend for himself. Something about that says abandonment to me. Don’t you think they can heal each other with that??

BUT WHAT MAKES THIS INTERESTING is that Teru doesn’t see his family relationship as an actual issue. He thinks this is all normal to him. Shou on the other hand would see right through this since he’s been through it. The fights this would cause muehehe💥

Also another side note, they’re both leaders!! Teru was the shadow leader at Black Vinegar while Shou was the leader of his resistance team!! That’s funny to me.

You can do a lot with this information, imagine it imagine it!! Honestly you don’t have to ship them (I didn’t when I first got obsessed with them). They can be besties or worsties or a secret third thing, whatever! They’re chaotic, they’re loud, they can do crazy things together while also healing each other in ways Mob and Ritsu can’t.

Which brings up another thing!! Their personalities!!💕💥💕💥!! It’s such a different vibe from the popular extrovert x introvert. It’s nice to see extrovert x extrovert once in a while right? Especially with their unique personalities and how they view the world differently. They can be chaotic and nothing can tone it down ahahah, even their temper. They both have a temperrrr like angry puppies. And even in their serious moments, it can be like dknskdj IDKK so interesting. It’s unique from ritshou and terumob. (Dw I like ritshou and terumob too)

They both also have that arrogance/cockiness, having to learn the HARD way to be humble. Teru was humbled by Mob, Shou was humbled by the fact he couldn’t beat his dad.

BUTTT if you’re curious on how iiii got obsessed with them then I’ll tell you, sort of.

It was VERY unintentional hahah, honestly me and my literal twin were just creating au’s for mp100. We made a whole storyline and scenes that was mostly Ritsu and Mob focused, but because of that, it ended up having Shou and Teru be stuck together as well. And whenever those two end up together, it always made us think like, oh yeah! We have to build up their relationship! And this made us think A LOTT on how their relationship would be just based on the characters alone. It’s a Wukong/oc story about a girl who gets reborn as a medic that is meant to help the original team in their journey to the west in exchange for another chance at life. She does not plan to fall in love along the way but wellll….

💙 Which of your favorite characters you’ve created by accident and how?

FRANK - he was meant to be a singular point of connection between the old and new life of my main character, Ruth/Ruomei and someone she could miss - but instead he gained a whole new meaning and importance along the way. He will return and he will become important - just you wait!

❤️ How would your characters react if you switched the background of the last two fanfics / art you’ve made around?

Wukong in a world of „Detroit: Become human” might be a whole new amazing idea for a fic. I think I’ve seen somewhere on tumblr a prompt that mentioned robotWukong and his human love so my imagination IS running wild already O.O

That being said, after an adjustment period, my fic’s Wukong would probably relate to the androids and their segregation from society.

Ruth would be torn between being amazed by the technology and frustrated at what humans did with it. (She might not be an optimist but even she could not imagine the reinvention of modern slavery)

Sandy would be offset by the speed of the future world and deeply disturbed by the difference in values.

Tripitaka would have a DEEP crisis and he would have to work hard to keep his faith in humanity - like I said - reinvention of modern slavery and the sheer objectification of androids might take some sleep from him.

Bajie would be amazed by fast food and deeply flustered by adult clubs’ fliers. Despite his big words, it would take him a moment to adjust. And then he would probably join the rest in feeling disturbed - with a hint of amazement.

🧡 Which of the characters you’ve created are an absolute asshole to work with?

The only truly original and consistent characters I’ve made so far are Ruth/Ruomei and Ai-Lin and while both of them present challenges, I cannot say they are a assholes to work with. The healer from the very beginning of the journey was hard to write - especially his abuse.

But if I could choose someone from the JTTW cast, it’s Erlang. It’s always Erlang 🫣

I do! @kimi-the-writer made one for me and I’ve also made one for very big act of my story - I cannot share them all because of spoilers but here’s the first one!

💚 What is your favorite trope you keep coming back to?

REBIRTH - coming back from the death. And the easement of pain of loved ones that were left behind. (I have SO many ideas with death and rebirth it’s getting ridiculous)

Another remarkable ones are; making your characters earn god-like and dangerous powers (and seeing them go feral while protecting their loved ones), giving everyone wings (although this one I’ve used the least so far) and SOULMATES.

🩵 If your fic/art was a meal, what/how would it be? Salty? Sweet? Dinner, breakfast? Comfort food?

So far it’s a mix of savory food. It’s like a bowl of ramen with a lot of things mixed in but your favorite topping keeps slipping through your chopsticks (SLOWBURN) and as you try to find it, you keep inhaling the noodles. It’s warm and salty and hot on your tongue and you can see it’s going to fill your stomach to the brink - given you actually finish the bowl.

💜Did you ever lost control over your fic/art?

Wukong took over at one point - he made a promise to exact vengeance upon a certain someone and then I had to scratch my head and actually make him follow through with it - he is still not satisfied but tough luck! He doesn’t currently have time to go and beat up gods in heaven - not while his time with Ru is limited.

🖤 What small thing in your story could trigger a literal worst outcome? (Like, character tripping over something leads to the end of the world)

Ai-Lin revealing to Wukong the full deal Ru has made. It would dissolve a lot of trust the team have put in her so far and theres still not enough of love and friendship going around to help mitigate that. Sure, they might get back to the point where they are now but it would slow down their relationship progress so far that Ru might make different choices at the end - and cut the whole story awfully short.

🩶 which grey character started out as villain and you made them likable cause of reasons? Or if you have such character at all?

SIX-EARED-MACAQUE - gods, it feels so good to write that. You won’t see him in act one but he started as a villain in my story, especially to Ru, and slowly evolved into a gray character. I have a feeling he might become readers’ favourite for REASONS 🙈

💔 what is your main character’s worst nightmare? (Favourite horror story)

Hehe.

Wukong seeing his loved one and his (not blood related) little brother die in his arms and being unable to help in any way.

Ru’s would be seeing all of her efforts end up in her not getting another chance due to stupid mistake.

❤️‍🩹 How would your character comfort someone?

Ru is terrible at this and is only gonna get worse XD. A shoulder pat here and there, a non-commital hum of agreement. But she would stay and keep vigilant while you processed. So that has to mean something.

Wukong would croon and hug and be as tactile as he can be (as he had proven). If it’s someone he loves, he would not leave the hurt person alone and try to be at two places at the same time to both stay close and provide for them. Listening though? He miiiight have a little bit of an issue with staying focused unless he’s properly angry on your behalf.

💝 If you could give your character a happy ending right here and there, how would they react?

Ru would not be happy. At all XD Part of this story revolves around the idea that sometimes the things you want can change and evolve and you need to address that fact instead of blindly following the plan or you will end up miserable despite gaining what you’ve “always wanted”.

Wukong would be ecstatic about coming back home in glory. I’d like to think he’d have moments of “what-ifs” and feeling a little bit of yearning for what might have been but he is a creature of wonder and a wanderer so he just might fill that lonely feeling with more adventures.

Tuvok is not as autistic coded in-narrative compared to what I've seen of Spock or T'Pol where they're othered heavily by those around them and have themes and arcs about struggling/striving to fit in BUT I do think he provides the vital autistic representation of not really angsting about your differences from other people because you're too busy and unaware and then even when you ARE made aware you mostly just think 'glad that's not me'. I think it's vital to have that sort of totally unbothered rep. I love that Tuvok is completely satisfied and proud of being Vulcan, doesn't long to experience emotion or struggle with a desire to express himself in a way his crewmates will understand, to be closer to them. I love that he has a long time and close friend that respects who he is and doesn't try to change him and that how close they are isn't framed as being in spite of his Vulcan nature. I love that being Vulcan isn't framed as a hindrance to him, like a roadblock to living a full and rich life. He has a wife and four kids and is a devoted husband and father. He's getting into gay horror scenarios. Tuvok was born on autism planet and he's thriving.

I find it funny that out of all the cast in the Digital Circus, my brain decided to latch onto Caine and relate to him the most, when Gangle's right fucking there with big neon lights pointing towards her

Frank Langdon is a high functioning addict and pretty damn adept at what he's doing as long as everything is going 100% his way. He needs people on his side that see him as a good guy. He needs to see himself as a good guy. He wears a handmade bracelet that his kid made him to work - brightly coloured with his sleeves rolled up. He sits with David after a traumatic event and tells him that Robby was the best man for the job - within Robby's sight line. He wants to get his four year old the puppy he's been begging for - for his wife to deal with whilst raising both his kids as he's out of the house for 12 hour shifts. When he gets caught, he says c'mon Robby, remember how I helped my mother move all by myself? He's taking risks with his addiction, and he's getting cagey and paranoid about it when we meet him. He's jumping at everything as the season opens. He knows people will see him differently if they find out and he knows his career is at stake.

But he's still a good guy - as long as people believe this, they're all his character witnesses. Enter new residents and interns, and as luck will have it, he gets paired with a friendly, bubbly, eager to learn, genuinely happy to be here resident. Ain't that swell. Her desire to trust and build relationships with people that is the perfect canvas for Langdon to paint the best version of himself. So he's charming, he's kind to her, he gets to show off a little because he is a damn good doctor, and it FEELS damn good to be observed as such, especially by someone fresh who hasn't also clued in to the fact that he's an asshole too. He works his shift building up a mentor/student relationship with her. He's not doing this out of the kindness of his heart or because he likes her; Melissa King is a convenient part of Frank Langdon's ongoing plan of manipulation. Her competence means that none of his agitated snapping gets aimed her way (yet).

That's because he's reserving all that for Trinity Santos - the more jaded and less naive med student who recognizes how manipulative men behave. After all, it's a lot easier to never have to see an abrasive recent grad he's not able to intimidate after one day than it might be to never see a second year resident with experience again. He's playing the whole field here, because in his mind, everyone is on to him already. (and best believe he would have thrown Mel under the bus and dismissed and gaslit her too if she had been the one to piece his little secret together)
