'Project 2025 stands on four principles that it says the country must embrace: the U.S. must “[r]estore the family as the centerpiece of American life and protect our children”; “[d]ismantle the administrative state and return self-governance to the American people”; “[d]efend our nation’s sovereignty, borders, and bounty against global threats”; and “[s]ecure our God-given individual rights to live freely—what our Constitution calls ‘the Blessings of Liberty.’”
In almost 1,000 pages, the document explains what these policies mean for ordinary Americans. Restoring the family and protecting children means using “government power…to restore the American family.” That, the document says, means eliminating any words associated with sexual orientation or gender identity, gender, abortion, reproductive health, or reproductive rights from any government rule, regulation, or law. Any reference to transgenderism is “pornography” and must be banned.
The overturning of the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision that recognized the right to abortion must be gratefully celebrated, the document says, but the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization decision accomplishing that end “is just the beginning.” '
This is what Trump and Trump's allies want. And the Supreme Court has now given the President almost complete immunity for any criminal acts. The only question left is - are you going to sit out this election and let it happen?

January 23rd St. Bobcat’s Day - J. R. "Bob" Dobbs Day
According to Discordians Camden Benares and John F. Carr, Discordians claim "Bob"'s actual name is Robert Catman Dobbs. A Texan, he was born to Fred C. Dobbs and Sara Modrey. He is also known as St. Bobcat and the Dealey Lama. He spent much of his life aiding unfortunates who joined the Sub Dude cult. The book How to Have Fun and Be Happy says that Discordians celebrate St. Bobcat’s Day each January 23 (presumably "Bob"'s birthday) by saying hello to people named Bob and petting cats.
J.R. "Bob" Dobbs is or was the founder of the Church of the SubGenius, holding the titles of High Epopt and Living Slack Master, and is the greatest salesman the world has ever known. He has a grin and smokes frop in his pipe, is a full-blooded Yeti, is famous for his slogans, and has more Slack than any other SubGenius. His face is the basis of the iconic Dobbshead as well as the Dobbs Ikon.

Oh, I would love to hear about the Good Neighbors. I can also recommend a possible source of inspiration! An 80s parody(?) religion all about the fear of conformity. The Church of the SubGenius!
If it's ok to ask I have a few concepts for sahkil I'd like to know if they would fit it if they are too niche.
I greatly value your feedback every time.
So the list is
The fear of being consumed by someone else's ego- essentially the dark side of fame that causes Narcissism or being turned into a tool for someone else's natriaguve
The fear of smothering affection- someone who cares too much and will not let you go,no matter what. A more physical version of Laviential
The fear of forced conformity - different from an infernal duke where the goal is more to make sure everyone stays in line by making sure people are too afraid of the consequences of not doing so. Think something akin to an evil version of the movie Pleasantville or the Stepford Wives.
And finally - the fear of blind trust- the terror and horror felt when someone you should trust turns a blind eye to corruption and danger. When someone who should protect you refuses to acknowledge danger.
I don't think any of them are too niche. That's the wonderful thing about fears. And these days, with how the world is going, and my tendency to make fiends that act as social commentary... that fear of forced conformity feels really relevant right now.

SubGenius Films For All
May I humbly suggest that you'd get a lot out of watching two SubGenius films.
First watch "Arise" the SubGenius recruitment tape, a surreal experience that has to be seen to be believed. You can find it here, or buy a copy, or probably find it pirated online (but really, use OSI74 or buy a copy, or rent it).
Then understand how all this came about with "J. R. “Bob” Dobbs & the Church of the SubGenius aka Slacking towards Bethlehem. This is a documentary about the real story of the Church (or is it a cover?) You can find all sorts of ways to see it here (yes some are free, and there are pirated copies, but again, try to throw people a few bucks).
Put together they tell the story of what is either a 45+ year old joke, or an ancient religion. Or both . . .

SLACK FOR EVERYONE!!
I have a question I actually dont know if it's been answered, but what if the pop culture thing is about things already in public domain? is that just as bad because it was created by a single individual, or because it could be used by corporations?
That's much better, but also you've gotta earn it aesthetically? Church of the Subgenius earns it's faux-spiritualization of 50s aesthetics by presenting it in a very very specific way.

BOTTOMS UP
April 13, 1934
Directed by David Butler
Produced by Buddy G. DeSylva for 20th Century-Fox
Written by David Butler, Buddy G. DeSylva, and Sid Silvers
Choreography by Harold Hecht
Synopsis ~ Spencer Tracy stars as fast-buck promoter Smoothie King. Our hero's latest scam is to pass off Hollywood extra Wanda Gale (Pat Patterson) and forger Limey Brook (Herbert Mundin) as British nobility, getting both of them prestigious jobs at a movie studio. Eventually Wanda becomes a big star, falling out of love with Smoothie along the way in favor of her leading man Hal Reed (John Boles). But Smoothie takes it all in stride; after all, there's still a world full of chumps and suckers, ripe for fleecing.
CAST
Spencer Tracy (’Smoothie’ King) won two Oscars and was nominated seven other times in his long career. This is his only musical. He also appeared with Lucille Ball in Without Love (1945).
John Boles (Hal Reed) also did Thousands Cheer (1943) with Lucille Ball).
Pat Paterson (Wanda Gale) was married to Charles Boyer. This is her only film with Lucille Ball.
Herbert Mundin (Limey Brook) was an English-born actor making his only film with Lucille Ball.
Sid Silvers (Spud Mosco) was also the co-writer of this film. This is his only movie with Lucille Ball.
Harry Green (Louis Baer) makes his only film with Lucille Ball.
Thelma Todd (Judith Marlowe) was known as ‘The Ice Cream Blonde' and ‘Hot Toddy'. This is her only film with Lucille Ball.
Robert E. O'Connor (Detective Rooney) went on to do five more films with Lucille Ball.
Dell Henderson (Lane Worthing) went on to do five more films with Lucille Ball.
Suzanne Kaaren (Secretary) makes her only screen appearance with Lucy.
Douglas Wood (Baldwin) also appeared with Lucille Ball in Her Husband’s Affairs (1947).
UNCREDITED CAST
Lucille Ball* (Chorine) makes her eighth film since coming to Hollywood in 1933.
Barbara Pepper* (Chorine) made six films with Lucille Ball, including her Lucy’s first, Roman Scandals (1933). The two became friends, and she was one of the first people Lucille Ball wanted for the role of Ethel Mertz after Bea Benadaret passed. Pepper’s drinking made her a risk for the network and sponsor, but she went on to make ten appearances on “I Love Lucy”.
Chorines: Lee Auburn, Bonnie Bannon*, Lynn Bari, Dolores Casey*, Irene Coleman, Ann Darcy, Jean Gale*, June Gale, Sugar Geise, Betty Gordon, Jane Hamilton, Vivian Keefer*, Laura La Marr, Mary Lange*, Shirley Lloyd, Dona Massin, Ruth Moody, Vera Payton, Virginia Ray, Beverly Royde, Katharine Snell, Alice Stombs, Valerie Traxler
Party Guests: Richard Carle, Cecil Cunningham, Opal Ernie, Paul McVey, Ronald R. Rondell, Henry Roquemore, Loretta Rush, Larry Steers, Ferdinand Munier
Minor Roles: Peggy Beck, Georgia Clarke, Elizabeth Cooke, Patricia Dobbs, Dee Dowell, Jean Fursa, Kathryn Hankin, Betty Neitman, Ellen Thomas, Mildred Unger
* Goldwyn Girls on loan to Fox. As they are not in a Sam Goldwyn picture, they are not credited as Goldwyn Girls.
OTHERS
David Field (Reporter)
Allen Connor (Ticket Taker)
Walter Hardwick (Waiter)
Teddy Hart (Chorus Boy)
Samuel E. Hines (Bellboy)

SOUNDTRACK
“Little Did I Dream” by Harold Adamson and Burton Lane
“Turn on the Moon” by Harold Adamson and Burton Lane
“I'm Throwing My Love Away” by Harold Adamson and Burton Lane
“Waitin' at the Gate for Katy” by Richard A. Whiting and Gus Kahn
“Is I in Love? I Is” J. Russel Robinson
Opera Singer: I've always considered myself a virtuoso. 'Smoothie' King: I didn't ask about your morals.
Lucille Ball was paid $75 dollars a week when she was loaned out to Fox by RKO to make this film. She appears in the song “Waitin’ at the Gate for Katy.”
The film received a favorable review from The New York Times critic Mordaunt Hall, who called it "a neat, carefree piece of work, which is helped greatly by Spencer Tracy, Pat Paterson, an English actress who here makes her American picture bow; Herbert Mundin, Harry Green, and, to a lesser extent, by John Boles" and noted that it "has its full share of honest humor and also several tuneful songs." Nonetheless, it was a box office disappointment for Fox.

Movies I watched this week / 11
Ship of Theseus, The awesome Discovery of the Week:
A philosophical 2012 Indian art-house masterpiece, based on the Heraclitus thought experiment that asks, if an object that has had all of its components replaced remains the same object.
It tells 3 separate stories that are seemingly unrelated. The first introduces a young Egyptian photographer who is blind and creates her street art based on sounds she hears. The second is about a dying Jain monk, fighting to ban animal testing in India. The third is about a poor bricklayer whose stolen kidney was sold illegally to an unsuspecting Swedish man. The uniting finale is a moving reflection on Plato’s allegory of the cave.
It may not sound appealing, but the film is absolutely beautiful, surprising, compelling and original.
Also found on YouTube in 720p BluRay Quality. Good reviews by Nona Prince and an essay: Visual Metaphors in the film (Please read only after seeing the film itself)
✴️
First watch: Laura - 1944 absurd film noir mystery directed by Otto Preminger. “I shall never forget the weekend Laura died.”...
Style over substance. 8/10.
Also, I didn’t know that Vincent Price was so tall.
Theme from film.
✴️
Steven Soderbergh‘s The Girlfriend Experience. Real life mega porn star Sasha Grey in her first cross over role. She plays a high-end escort who is paid to act as her clients' emotional companion.
I loved it as a first act, but the story was missing act two.
✴️
The fantastic history of R. "Bob" Dobbs and The Church of the SubGenius! Better than wikipedia!
✴️
I haven’t seen any Louis de Funès films for over 50 years. Surprisingly, Jo, The Gazebo, a typical 1971 screwball comedy, stayed relatively funny and fresh with all the mimicry and jokes I remember from my childhood. 5+
✴️
The Night of the Iguana, John Huston’s classic drama. Richard Burton is a disgraced minister at the end of his rope who is ready "to take the long swim to China". Tennessee Williams in Puerto Vallarta.
“What is important is that one is never alone...”
✴️
2 X Alfonso Cuarón:
* Road to Roma - Interview with Cuarón, deconstructing the ‘making of’ his wonderful 2018 movie. Seeing the colorful process Behind the Scenes, in comparison to the Black and White canvas, is breathtaking. 10/10.
* His previous film - Gravity: A mainstream movie with only 2 actors. Exciting, too thrilling for me.
✴️
First watch: Russian Ark, an experimental story and a technical tour de force. It was recorded in a single, unedited take of 96 minutes at the Hermitage Museum in Saint Petersburg, on 23 December 2001, with a cast of over 2000 costumed actors. It follows 300 years of Russian history, guided by a 19th-century French diplomat.
✴️ Lost in America - “This is just like ‘Easy Rider.’ Except, now it's our turn. I mean, we can drop out and we can still have our nest egg!”
Loved it then, loved it now.
✴️
Another, similar film from the same time (1991) and atmosphere, Steve Martin’s LA Story - Adored it then, loved it now.
“Some of these buildings are over TWENTY years old!”
✴️
Of Alan J. Pakula‘s “Paranoia Trilogy”, I always preferred “The Parallax View” and “All the President's Men”. Maybe because even Pakula had a hard time describing an affair between a call girl and a client without resorting to tired old cliches. But watching Klute for the first time in many years, all but the predictable ending is actually first rate.
He should have called it Bree, though.
Appreciation of composer Michael Small, who scored Klute as well as eight more of Pakula’s movies.
✴️
Butter - a nearly-wonderful comedy about a little orphaned black girl who competes at a butter sculpture contest at the Iowa State Fair.

Hitchcock's favorite plot, “Innocent Person Wrongly Accused”, in North by Northwest, with opening-credits sequence by Saul Bass, and still effective crop dusting attack.
Most of it is ridiculously dated (55 year old accidental hero Cary Grant who has to get his mother’s approval, and the final shot of the Freudian train speeding into the tunnel). It’s still a fun ride.

My first Almodóvar, All About My Mother. A melodramatic Telenovela world of junkies, transsexuals, AIDS, prostitution and the theater. It’s only during the second half that the film clicked for me.

The Visual Effects of Psychedelics, from Effectindex. Must be watched in full screen. Real life example.

I spent 4 long hours entangled with Woody Allen’s sexual abuse in the new disgusting documentary Allen v. Farrow.
Technically, the worst part of this are the unbearable, constant layers of background music that drowns every scene with emotional guidelines. I wish they would stop doing it once and for all.
Not necessary me, but Why I Will Never Watch a New Woody Allen Film Again.

The 2020 Invisible Man, Peggy Olson version: Somehow-interesting horror premise, but not my cup of tea. Points for the plot twist at the end. 2/10.
