Jack Whitehall, the acclaimed comedian, finds himself contemplating fatherhood and expressing a strong desire not to follow in his father's footsteps. This introspection comes as he recently unveiled the joyous news of his girlfriend, Roxy Horner's pregnancy. The renowned star of Bad Education, aged 34, conveyed his apprehension about resembling his own father once he enters the realm of fatherhood.
During a captivating appearance on BBC Breakfast, the presenter inquired whether this impending life-altering event had prompted Whitehall to reflect upon his relationship with his father. In response, he candidly admitted, "I just don't want to turn into him." Such genuine sentiments reveal his earnestness to forge his own path and avoid the perceived pitfalls of emulating his paternal figure.
Familiar to audiences for their entertaining exploits on the Netflix series Jack Whitehall: Travels With My Father, where they embark on globetrotting adventures, Whitehall ponders the potential role reversal. With a touch of whimsy, he muses, "I did think as well, by the way, I have had to retire the Travels With My Father brand because my dad's getting on a bit now and can't be bothered to travel around the world, but this could be a good way of rejuvenating it when my child is old enough to be a good sidekick."
This amusing notion hints at the possibility of his offspring taking the reins, once they reach maturity.
While currently touring the nation with his new stand-up show, Settle Down, the comedic virtuoso also divulges plans to craft fresh material centering on the experience of parenthood. He shares, "It's weird as a comedian because obviously quite a lot of my life I talk about up on stage, but I'm doing this show which is all about kind of settling down in my life. Then this is quite a big element of that, so does it feel it would be a glaring omission if I didn't talk about it (having a child). So I am currently now doing the beginnings of some material about having a child." With the announcement of their impending bundle of joy in May, Whitehall took to Twitter, where he posted a heartwarming snapshot featuring him and Horner, accompanied by a scan of their precious baby. The accompanying caption humorously quipped, "Should probably finally learn to drive now."
As the couple eagerly awaits the arrival of their little one in September, Whitehall revealed to BBC Breakfast that they are engaged in the delightful task of brainstorming potential names. Alas, the gender of their forthcoming bundle of joy remains undisclosed, adding an air of intrigue to their preparations.
