Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scored 37 points and Jalen Williams added 20 for the Thunder, who lost their second straight after a five-game win streak. The teams split their four meetings this season.

There were 11 lead changes in the fourth quarter. A two-handed dunk by Edwards in traffic put the Timberwolves up 101-97, and Minnesota led by at least four the rest of the way.

Cleveland is 10-1 since Jan. 3.

Kawhi Leonard scored 30 points and Norman Powell 18 for the Clippers, who got within four in the final two minutes but fell to 2-1 on a season-long seven-game trip.

Jalen Brunson scored 32 points, Donte DiVincenzo added 28 and New York kept rolling without the injured Julius Randle, beating Charlotte for its seventh straight victory. Josh Hart chipped in with 12 rebounds, eight points, and seven assists for the Knicks, who entered with the fourth-best record in the Eastern Conference.

Brandon Miller scored 29 points and Miles Bridges had 21 points and 10 rebounds as the Hornets fell to 0-4 since trading Terry Rozier to Miami for Kyle Lowry and a first-round draft pick. Lowry isn't expected to play for Charlotte.

Jayson Tatum scored 12 of his 26 points in the fourth quarter and Boston rallied past New Orleans. The victory snapped a two-game skid at home for Boston, which started the season 20-0 at TD Garden.

Jaylen Brown added 22 points and 11 rebounds. Jrue Holiday had 20 points and Derrick White finished with 17. The Pelicans led by 17 in the first half but were outscored 68-52 over the final two quarters to drop their third straight game. Brandon Ingram led New Orleans with 28 points, seven rebounds and six assists. Zion Williamson finished with 26 points.

Domantas Sabonis had a career-high 26 rebounds along with 20 points, De’Aaron Fox scored 23 points and Sacramento rallied past Memphis. Sabonis finished 10 of 11 from the field and had 16 rebounds in the first half, a Kings record for rebounds in a half since the franchise moved to Sacramento in 1985. His previous career best was 25 rebounds for Indiana on Nov. 29, 2021, against Minnesota, and he surpassed it with 27.5 seconds left — part of a stout defensive performance by the Kings to close out the game.

Sacramento held Memphis scoreless over the final three minutes. Kevin Huerter added 17 points for the Kings, who won their fourth straight. Jaren Jackson Jr. led the Grizzlies with 22 points and Santi Aldama scored 16 on 5-of-14 shooting.

Luka Doncic had 45 points and 15 assists and Tim Hardaway Jr. added 36 points as Dallas beat Orlando. The duo accounted for 54 of Dallas’ 70 points in the second half, including 27 of the team's 35 in the fourth quarter.

Dereck Lively II had 20 points and 11 rebounds, and Jalen Hardy scored 18 of his season-high 20 points in the first half for the Mavericks. Paolo Banchero scored 36 points to lead the Magic.

Jalen Green scored 34 points and Alperen Sengun added 31 as Houston beat Los Angeles. LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and D’Angelo Russell scored 23 points apiece for the Lakers, who had won two in a row, capped by a 145-144 double-overtime victory over Golden State on Saturday.

Cam Whitmore had 20 points off the bench for Houston, and Jabari Smith Jr. had 18 points and nine rebounds in his return after missing four games with a sprained left ankle. Green and Sengun also had 12 rebounds and seven assists each for the Rockets.

Jerami Grant scored 27 points and Portland took advantage of Joel Embiid’s absence to rout Philadelphia. Malcolm Brogdon added 24 points and nine assists for the Trail Blazers, who lost four of their previous five games. Rookie guard Scoot Henderson scored 22.

Kelly Oubre Jr. had 25 points for the 76ers, who lost their third straight as Embiid watched from the bench with a sore left knee. Philadelphia was also without Tyrese Maxey (sprained left ankle). Embiid missed his second consecutive game. The reigning NBA MVP is averaging 36 points and 11.4 rebounds per game.

Kyle Kuzma had 18 points and 11 rebounds, Daniel Gafford added 16 points and 13 boards, and Washington rallied past San Antonio to win consecutive games for the first time this season. The Wizards improved to 2-1 since coach Wes Unseld Jr. was moved to the front office and replaced on an interim basis by Brian Keefe.

Devin Vassell scored 24 points and Victor Wembanyama had 22 points and 11 rebounds for the Spurs, who were seeking their first three-game winning streak of the season. The Wizards outscored the Spurs 31-20 in the fourth quarter.

68% of caucus goers believe that the 2020 election was stolen from trump despite there being no evidence to support that contention.

More than 60% believe trump is being persecuted just like Jesus.

Over 50% believe trump is sent by God to “save” America.

Now The Middle Finger is showing a three minute video explaining how God sent trump to save America and presumably, the World.

What's God's take on this? I'm sure She is extremely pissed that so many believe She's stupid enough to unleash the walking middle finger on the world.

It's sad the religious right has worked themselves into such a lather about a man who has no redeeming qualities other than keeping the bronzer makers and adult diaper manufacturers in business.

Trump is a liar. Trump is a cheat. There is ample evidence to verify that claim.

Yet the delusional adherents to the trump lie continue to pretend he's some Messiah, galloping in on a gold golf cart to save them and turn America into a tyrannical religious state hell bent on revenge and retribution for some mythical wrongs inflicted by the woke left.

It's all a lie. Deep inside they know it's a lie. But, the lies of The Middle Finger makes them feel like victims. And who doesn't like to feel sorry for themselves by pretending everyone is out to get them?

Republicans do. They want to feel like victims. They want to feel like everyone is out to get them, especially the evangelicals and religious right.

Their meetings are a giant pity party.

Their anthem should be Ronstadt's “Poor Poor Pitiful Me.”

Immer wieder kommen nach Jahren in den USA falsche Schuldsprüche ans Licht. Den "Rekord" im National Register of Exonerations der Universität Kalifornien hält nun mit 48 Jahren, einem Monat und 18 Tagen Gynn Simmons. Am 19.12. nimmt die Richterin Amy Palumbo den Antrag von Simmons auf "Unschuldsvermutung" während einer Anhörung im Oklahoma County Gerichtsgebäude in Oklahoma City entgegen. Der 71-Jährige wurde aus der Haft entlassen, nachdem er die letzten 48 Jahre seines Lebens unschuldig im Gefängnis verbracht hatte.

Zwischenfrage: Was bedeutet "Unschuldsvermutung" im Hinblick auf Entschädigung oder schlimmer, eventuelle Wiederaufnahmen wegen "neuer Beweise"?

Knapp an die 48 Jahre unschuldig im Gefängnis kommt Leonard Peltier, geboren am 12. September 1944 in Grand Forks, North Dakota. Er ist ein indianischer Aktivist des American Indian Movement (AIM) in den USA und wurde 1977 trotz umstrittener Beweislage zuerst wegen Mord ersten Grades verurteilt. Später wurde das Urteil zu zweifach lebenslanger Haft wegen Beihilfe zum Mord geändert. Peltier wurde nach seiner Flucht nach Kanada in einem komplexen und umstrittenen Verfahren ausgeliefert, für schuldig befunden, verurteilt und inhaftiert.

Trotz seines schlechten Gesundheitszustands wurde 2009 nach einer Anhörung der United States Parole Commission eine Begnadigung abgelehnt. Dabei gibt es noch nicht einmal Gründe für eine Verurteilung, denn bei einer Anhörung zu dem Fall am 11. Februar 1986 sagte der zuständige Bundesberufungsrichter Gerald Heaney: "Wenn man das Für und Wider erörtert hat, bleiben einige wenige, aber wichtige Tatsachen über."

Auf 42 Jahre unschuldig im Gefängnis kommt auch der Journalist, Autor und Bürgerrechtler Mumia Abu Jamal, unter dem Namen Wesley Cook geboren am 24. April 1954 in Philadelphia, der 1982 der Ermordung des Polizisten Daniel Faulkner schuldig gesprochen und zum Tode verurteilt wurde. Nach fast 30 Jahren in der Todeszelle wurde die Strafe mit Zustimmung der Staatsanwaltschaft 2011 in lebenslange Haft ohne Revisionsmöglichkeit umgewandelt.

Über den Prozess 1982 sagte die Gerichtsschreiberin Sabo, dass sie eine Unterredung von drei entscheidenden Personen gehört hätte, bei der die wörtliche Aussage "Yeah, and I’m going to help them fry the nigger" - "Ich werde ihnen dabei helfen, diesen Nigger zu grillen" fiel. Selbst die Aussage des Auftragsmörder Arnold Beverly im Jahr 1999 , das Verbrechen als Fahrgast von Jamals Bruder im Auftrag der Mafia begangen zu haben, führte nicht zu einer Wiederaufnahme des Prozesses.

Mumia ist auch nach 47 Jahren im Gefängnis politisch aktiv.

Dabei wurde auch ihre Pistole benutzt. Nach zweijähriger Prozessdauer und einer weltweiten Solidaritätskampagne wurde Davis am 4. Juni 1972 in allen Punkten der Anklage  und vom Vorwurfs der "Unterstützung des Terrorismus" freigesprochen. In ihrer in diesem Herbst auch auf deutsch erschienenden Autobiographie beschreibt Angela Davis den zutiefst rassistischen Alltag zuerst in ihrer Jugend im Süden der USA und dann in den Gefängnissen der USA (ISBN 978 3 311 35013 2).

Allen Dreien und auch den meisten im Standard beschriebenen "Fehlurteilen" ist ihre dunkle Hautfarbe gemeinsam.

On June 21, 2021, at 4:26 PM, Deputy Bostick was dispatched to 316 MLK Street in Baconton in response to a report of a vehicle's window being shot. Upon arrival, Deputy Bostick contacted Mrs. Huntley, who reported hearing a loud bang while inside her house and subsequently discovering the back glass of her vehicle, parked by the road, shattered.

Deputy Bostick and Investigator Brooks arrived at the scene and observed several people outside. They found no bullet fragments near or inside the vehicle but noticed two males on a front porch across from the incident, one of whom was identified as Mr. Johntaven Simmons. Mr. Simmons reported hearing a gunshot but did not know its direction.

Investigator Brooks located the impact point on the vehicle and collected evidence, including a silver, rust-colored dust in the dent. Surveillance cameras on the side of the house captured footage of the incident, showing a tan or brown vehicle pulling up nearby and a black male in all black exiting the vehicle, walking towards the road, and then returning to the car with a gun in hand after the glass breakage.

Upon reviewing the video, Deputy Bostick and Investigator Brooks noticed that Mr. Simmons' clothing matched that of the individual in the footage. Mr. Simmons became frustrated during questioning and refused to answer further questions. A bullet casing was found near the scene, matching the gun seen in the video.

The video was sent to Investigator Brooks for further analysis, which helped in identifying the shooter. Mr. Simmons was arrested at 321 MLK Street after his clothing was matched to that in the video. He surrendered a 9MM gun that matched the casing found. Mr. Simmons was charged with Reckless Conduct, Obstruction Of Officers, and Discharge of a Gun or Pistol Near a Public Highway or Street, and was transported to Mitchell County Jail by Deputy Wilson.

Amid Major Roster Moves Nuggets Hope to Defend NBA Crown

Nikola Jokić earned another significant milestone for his reputation. The two-time NBA MVP helped his team to the NBA Finals for the first time. Once the Nuggets arrived, they made short work of the Miami Heat, winning the series in five games.

Denver proved last season that winning a championship doesn’t take a super team. The Nuggets were able to break through thanks to the excellence of Jamal Murray and Jokić. Staying on topic will be difficult thanks to other teams’ moves in the offseason. The Milwaukee Bucks , Phoenix Suns, and Boston Celtics made significant additions in the offseason.

Keeping up with the rest of the league will require Denver’s core players to stay healthy and desire to win again. The latest NBA news shows that the championship race will again be wide-open this season.

The Bucks were desperate to find a way to convince Giannis Antetokounmpo to stay in Milwaukee. What the Bucks had to do to make sure that happened was land another high-profile player to the lineup. Despite guard Jrue Holiday expressing his desire to stay in Milwaukee , the Bucks included him in a deal with the Miami Heat and Portland Trail Blazers that saw the Bucks receive star guard Damian Lillard.

Lillard, 32, averaged over 30 points per game last season for Portland. Despite Lillard’s 3-point shooting excellence, he has never been able to advance to the NBA Finals. Milwaukee hopes that adding Lillard to the lineup will be enough with Antetokounmpo and Khris Middleton to help get the Bucks deep into the playoffs.

Milwaukee had the №1 seed in the Eastern Conference last season but was upset in the first round by the Heat. The Bucks last won the NBA Finals in 2021. Milwaukee has opened the season as a betting favorite to win the championship.

Did Celtics Do Enough to Compete?

It seems like Boston has been knocking on the door of winning another NBA Championship for the past 10 years. But the Celtics never seem to have quite enough to get things done. This offseason, Boston put serious time and thought in on how to improve.

To improve defensively, Boston brought in forward . The Celtics also brought in Holiday from the Bucks to boost scoring. With the big contract the Celtics gave to Jaylen Brown, this is a win-now season for Boston. The Celtics decided to stick with young coach Joe Mazzulla, who faced heavy criticism for Boston’s Eastern Conference Finals loss to Miami.

The Lakers Window is Closing

Optimism about Anthony Davis’ preseason performance may be the latest NBA news regarding the Los Angeles Lakers. The Lakers have been slowed down during the past two seasons by injuries to their aging roster. Last season, Los Angeles made the Western Conference Finals despite Davis only playing in 56 games.

Davis has only played in 96 regular-season games in the past two seasons. He hasn’t played in more than 70 games in a season since the 2017–18 season when he was still in New Orleans. The Lakers will need LeBron James, 38, to continue playing well. If emerging superstar Austin Reaves continues developing, Los Angeles will have a strong team.

Can Philadelphia Contend?

Philadelphia thought it had a big three with James Harden , Ben Simmons, and Joel Embiid. However, Embiid is the only star likely to be there at this season’s end. While Harden rejoined the team’s practices last week, he has been vocal about his desire to be traded elsewhere.

The 76ers have yet to honor his wish. Due to Harden’s age and attitude, it may be hard for Philadelphia to get the proper return to move that trade chip. The 76ers brought in former championship coach Nick Nurse to take over from Doc Rivers. Nurse hopes to be able to work with whatever roster he has left and get them further than the Eastern Conference semifinals.

Phoenix Retools Roster

The Suns will test the theory that a top-heavy lineup can carry a team. Phoenix moved on from Chris Paul and Deandre Ayton during the offseason. To support Kevin Durant and Devin Booker, the Suns brought in guard Bradley Beal.

Beal played all his career for the Washington Wizards and never got a chance to go deep into the playoffs. The Suns were also able to add Jusuf Nurkić in a trade. Phoenix has been close to climbing the NBA mountain over the past few weeks and won’t miss its opportunity to win with Durant.

Miami Missed Out of Big Additions

The Heat have made the NBA Finals twice in the past five years but lost both times to the Lakers and Nuggets in the final series, respectively. Miami has never brought in a second star to support Jimmy Butler properly. The Heat have filled out its roster with savvy signings of players overlooked by other teams. Miami wanted to bring in Lillard, and the experience was mutual, but the Heat couldn’t get the deal done. While Miami could always try to add at the trade deadline, the Heat will lean on their culture to get things done.

Memphis and LA Clippers are Flawed Contenders

The Grizzlies looked like a team that could make significant waves last season. Memphis has a young lineup that plays an exciting brand of basketball. However, the Grizzlies’ star guard, Ja Morant, was suspended several times for issues with firearms off the court.

Morant will start this season on a 25-game suspension. Memphis will need to ride out his suspension before it figures out how to compete. The Los Angeles Clippers haven’t accomplished much since Kawhi Leonard came to town.

Leonard has missed much time due to injury, much like his teammate Paul George. Leonard has only played in 52 games apiece during the past two seasons. If Los Angeles’ veteran lineup can stay healthy, the Clippers may find a way to contend.
