Everything You Need to Know About NAT Test Sections – A Must-Read for Japanese Language Learners
If you're aiming to study or work in Japan and are preparing for the Japanese NAT Test, it's essential to understand the structure of the exam. The NAT test is a widely accepted proficiency test that evaluates your Japanese language skills based on practical usage and real-life communication.
But what exactly are the sections of the NAT test, and how can you prepare for each one effectively?
Let’s break it down.
🧠 NAT Test Sections: What to Expect
The Japanese NAT Test is divided into three main sections, each targeting a specific language skill:
1. Language Knowledge (Vocabulary / Grammar)
This section checks your understanding of Japanese vocabulary, kanji, and basic grammar rules. Questions may include sentence completion, grammar correction, and identifying correct word usage.
2. Listening Comprehension
You’ll listen to conversations or announcements and answer questions based on what you hear. This section simulates everyday scenarios, helping you test how well you can understand spoken Japanese in natural contexts.
3. Reading Comprehension
In this part, you will read short passages and answer questions to evaluate your ability to grasp meaning, context, and written structures in Japanese.
Each section is designed to measure your ability to use Japanese practically, which is why it's highly respected by employers and academic institutions alike.
📘 How to Prepare for Each Section
For Language Knowledge, revise N5/N4 grammar patterns and build vocabulary using flashcards.
For Listening, watch Japanese media with subtitles and practice with NAT-specific audio samples.
For Reading, read short texts or stories in Japanese and try to summarize their meaning.
Want a more in-depth explanation of each test section, along with tips and format details?
👉 Check out this complete guide on NAT Test Sections – it's your one-stop resource to understand the structure and scoring system of the exam.
🎯 Final Words
Understanding the NAT test format is half the battle. Once you know what each section expects, you can tailor your study plan to focus on the right skills. Whether you're a student or a professional, mastering these sections is your pathway to Japanese fluency.
So, don't just study hard—study smart.
Follow the guide above, stay consistent, and crack the NAT test with confidence!

Master the Language: Expert-Approved Japanese Learning Tips
Tumblr media
Learning Japanese can be both exciting and demanding, especially for English speakers. With its distinct scripts, unique sentence structures, and unfamiliar sounds, mastering Japanese takes strategy and discipline. To help you navigate your language journey with confidence, here are expert-approved Japanese learning tips that offer both structure and flexibility—perfect for beginners, self-learners, or even those returning to study.
At Study Japanese Language, we understand that every learner is different. That’s why we focus on proven methods that cater to real-life goals like conversational fluency, academic success, or JLPT certification.
1. Build a Strong Foundation with Hiragana and Katakana
Your first step should be to master the two phonetic alphabets—Hiragana and Katakana. These scripts are essential for pronunciation, reading, and even typing in Japanese. Don’t rush this phase; write them daily and practice reading them in basic words and phrases.
2. Immerse Yourself in Native Content
Exposure is key. Begin watching Japanese TV shows, listening to anime soundtracks, and following Japanese podcasts—even if you don’t understand everything at first. This passive exposure helps train your ears to recognize common words and sentence rhythms.
3. Learn Vocabulary in Context
Instead of memorizing isolated words, try learning vocabulary through sentences and real-life usage. This helps you remember not just the word, but also how and when to use it. Keep a personal notebook or use apps like Anki for sentence-based flashcards.
4. Practice Speaking and Shadowing Techniques
One of the most powerful Japanese learning tips is speaking aloud. Use language shadowing—repeat after a native speaker in real time. This technique improves pronunciation, rhythm, and fluidity, especially when paired with audio materials.
5. Follow a Structured Curriculum
Self-learners often struggle with what to study next. Enroll in a structured course like those offered at Study Japanese Language, where lessons are designed to build naturally from beginner to advanced levels with a focus on grammar, conversation, and kanji recognition.
6. Review Regularly with Spaced Repetition
Memory fades without review. Incorporate spaced repetition systems (SRS) into your routine to retain kanji, vocabulary, and grammar effectively. Studying smart is just as important as studying hard.
Conclusion
Becoming fluent in Japanese isn’t about cramming—it’s about consistency, smart strategies, and active engagement. By following these expert-backed Japanese learning tips, and with guidance from Study Japanese Language, you’ll make steady, confident progress toward mastering this beautiful language.

Kanji: 胆
Informações básicas
Significado principal:
Fígado, vesícula biliar, coragem, ousadia
Leituras:
On’yomi (音読み):
タン (tan)
Composição do kanji
Radical: 月 (にくづき), relacionado ao corpo/carne
Componente fonético: 旦 (tan) — aparece no topo e indica a pronúncia
旦 significa "amanhecer", mas neste caso serve apenas como dica sonora.
Curiosidades
Em culturas orientais tradicionais, órgãos como o fígado e a vesícula eram considerados sede da coragem e da determinação.
Por isso, o kanji 胆 passou a carregar também o sentido figurado de “ousadia” e “força de espírito”.

らしい| Practice Japanese 話せる日本語 360枚のカードで学ぶ中級会話 - Toramu Nihongo Premium About “~らしい” “~らしい” allows the speaker to express hearsay/rumours, guesses and specific patterns or types of situations. Using “~らしい” to express hearsay or rumours means using it to express something the speaker has heard through other people or sources. Today's grammar:
〜を中心に
例文: 地球は太陽を中心に回っています。
〜を通して・通じで
例文:最近は、一年を通して美味しいフルーツがたべられる。
Besides grammar I'm also focussing on trying to write little pieces in Japanese. About my favorite drama's for example. There are a lot of Japanese drama's on Netflix.
Which drama have you been watching lately?
