As much as I love geraskier I also really enjoy the idea of Geralt accidentally becoming Jaskier's parental figure, especially if we broaden the age gap and make Jaskier maybe 14-15 years old when he first meets Geralt.

Which is, considering that Pavettas betrothal happened on her 15th birthday, not so far reached. Maybe Jaskier is just a very book-smart kid and graduated from Oxenfurt a bit earlier. That certainly would make every self-confident teenager cocky enough to believe they are now an 'adult' and can do what they want. (Traveling the world as a bard.)

And he's a smart one, resourceful if he has to be, so things are going fine. But not great. And then- And then he meets a witcher and Geralt looks like everything he's not, like he knows stuff, things Jaskier doesn't know because he's book-smart but not travel-smart. So maybe if he can befriend this old man he can learn those things.

And Geralt is just suddenly confronted with a child. A kid who thinks he's old enough to be on his own, but doesn't even know hoe to make a proper fire or shelter or what water sources are safe or how to forage or-

He can't just leave that kid!
