Journal of a Hatter - Getting used to it...
Day: ? Rainy day - Autumn?
It rains today, i'm using my hat as an makeshift umbrella as i write this. And we already felt miserable being stuck here... At least rain water is a "nice" change from this horrible tea we have to drink every day. I think my my entire mouth began to feel numb because of drinking this for... who knows how long...
Day: ? - Cloudy
The rain stopped, for now at the least. Everything on the table is soaked with rain water, even the biscuits… The table look weird, …who or… whatever that was it seemed dangerous, i don'' want to be here when the table comes back alive… if it can. Its Wonderland after all… everything can happen. Everything seems to get smaller by the weeks…. i was sure that Chaos and i were almost the same height. Ill ask the others tomorrow.
Day: ? Some clouds and a bit of sun
…The others told me that it was me that got taller, maybe. My clothes seems to be still intact tho… They probably drank some "Drink me" Bottle without knowing. I maybe ate a "Eat Me" cake too… but hey that's not a lil' drink can't fix. I don't even know why i have that staggering number of "Drink Me" Bottles in my coat pockets. I drank a few without the others notice but nothing happened, …maybe it take time the drink to have an effect in Wonderland. The chair i'm siting in is starting to get really uncomfortable if i sat even for a few minutes Kurabe tells me that its nothing but when i talked back, she looked at me with the most horrifying death stare i have seen from a Raspberry Mouse. Note to self, don't anger her.
Day: ? Cloudy… again
I tried to see how this curse works in more detail while i search for something my height i can sit on without my back hurting. Apparently if we get too far from the table for more than a few minutes (about 5 to 10 minutes) this awful pain comes back and get stronger the longer we are away from it. It can only stop if we sit back at the table. Or if someone take our place apparently.
I heard Fettu falling when i was cleaning my glasses, when we helped her up she looked like she seen a ghost, the other told me that she just got "surprised" because of my lack of eyes. Are they aware of the concept of Glasses ? ...She'll probably also look like a tired mess if she slept in a chair too small for her.

Fuck it, since some of y'all loked my "how I'd Write The Joker" post
This is how I'd write Dr. Johnathan Crane AKA The Scarecrow
* A man who was made to be afraid his entire life who now wants everyone to fear him
* From Calhoun, GA
* Abusive father + enabling mother (both living)
* Has overdosed on FT so many times that his Amygdala has been damaged
* John is weirdly calm, even in situations where he should be angry or afraid
* Keeps aerosol, powder, and liquid FT on him at all times
* Eventually realized that a gun, might be useful
* Has a journal that vontains his notes on various Arkham patients and the Batfamily
* Fucking loves books and reading
Relationships
* Basically anyone with a Docorate: Has (relatively) a lot of respect for them. He will consult them on their expertise as needed.
*Harley Quinn: Has a soft spot for her. When he was a guest lecturer, Harleen was one of the most engaged and enthusiastic students he ever had. He checks in on her every so often
*Edward Nygma: It's complicated ;0). Calls him Ed.
*The Joker and Mad Hatter: Hates these mfs
*Killer Croc: Connects with him as they are both unsettling southerners. Everybody loves Waylon.
A loy of this was inspired by Rogues The Podcast btw. That has become my default version of the character

It’s funny how my pink nails & pink phone case & pink journal give like I’m not having the most fucked up thoughts in the world
These people are so funny, they think in order to have depth
(I’m about to project so hold on tight),,,
They think in order to have depth… you have to give depth
Like I need to have lived in makeup, ripped jeans, leather, a beard...
And look like I’m in a state of dishevelment.
They see a cupcake and think “too sweet” and not lethal
But that’s the best part!!!
I’m a tea cake at the bottom of a rabbit hole that says “eat me” Welcome to Wonderland baby, I’m so happy you’re here!!!!!!!
And that’s the thing about the Mad Hatter
He’s manic and whimsical and dark
Just like me
Only difference is I look like Alice
Who? What? Wait, which way do I go?
The actual villains of society are the self-proclaimed villains
Have you ever met a goth with pink nails?
What should we call her?
A whimsy goth?
A coquette with depth?
I mean seriously,
The girls that love pink and wear ribbons………….
...
...
...
But that’s the juxtaposition,
That’s what makes life so exciting
There’s something in between good girls
And bad girls
That wear little pink bows…..
They’re a little mad
Hope this helps.

Journal of a Hatter.
Day number - ??? -1
Everyone got abruptly woken up by my chair breaking i pieces… and my scream as i fall on the ground. Chaos found this funny, while Kura tore me an earful about not breaking anything as if everything didn't became smaller for me over the past few weeks… By the stars i hate it when shes angry. We each take turns searching for a suitable seat for me… "suitable" is more akin to "won't break under me when i sleep". For now, i have to sit on those small chairs and hope it don't break under me.
Day Number -???- 2
The pain from geting up from the table is horrible… Yet since Fettu is worried about breaking another chair, i have to get up the most often to search for one for my size. Chaos sometimes accompanies me in the search for one. It would have felt good to walk in the forest if i didn't have to bent down to not them smaking me in the face. I swear i thought for a moment a branch had "brochetted" my eye... Wonderland is wierd.
Day Number-???- 3
I got in an argument with the blueberrie after a ticket to freedom got away. It was about the fact he lost his key . He kept calling me an "overgrown puppet" which is frustrating. Like if its not him that got small... ok i've grown a little bit but i always had white hair, he didn't have to rub it in my face that i was looking old compared to the others.
Day Number-???-4
We FINALLY found a chair for my size, i think i broke 2 after the initial one and Kurabe threw a cup at me at least five times before giving me the death stare because i had put my legs on the table if i wanted to be a minimum comfortable. ...it feels wierd when i sit on it tho like theres something in the pillow. Next day ill see what it is i think i hear my back crack when me and the other brought back the chair, i hope i didn't breach a bone. Also i know you read my journal Chaos, you can't stop calling me "porcelain man" i know i look like an old fart. But im probably the most lucid out of everyone.
Day Number-???- 5
I FOUND SEDATIVES IN THE CUSHON WEEE! Theres not many but we can try something for the next ticket to freedom. ...i just hope they remembered the "No childrens at the table" rule we did... Also haha, Funny Mister Blueberrie man is now calling me the "Lucid guy"... Might keep that name? I don't want the queen finding i got out of the table... if i get out.

Book Journal #44 - The Annotated Alice: The Definitve Edition (Alice in Wonderland and Alice Through the Looking Glass by Lewis Carroll Annotated by Martin Gardner)
This book... Jesus... Christ. I haven't read something as equally depraved and clever as this, ever, in my life. This review should not be read by people under 18.
A while ago after I read Rimbaud and enjoying a lot The Third Policeman (I haven't talked about it here since I made a video review instead, but I might transcribe the video for Tumblr down the line) I realized that I love nonsense and that the ilogical is my world, I remembered the Alice in Wonderland movie of 1951 they used to play in Disney Channel when I was a kid, and it dawned upon me that if I wanted to find nonsense I should read Caroll, then naturally, I looked for the best version and Chat GPT recommended me this one, it has the original illustrations and a bunch of notes which I was hoping would clue me not just in the references the book parodies but the wonder mathematical nonsense I was promised of.
The book does that, and it is very good too, I liked it... the thing is that it opens another whole can of worms along with it too!!!! Everything I know about Caroll so far is thanks to the annotations of this edition, (it also shows a bit of how his fandom feels about his works at times!) although naturally all conclusions are mostly mine.
Ahhh, where do I even start? Where do I even start?!?! If you don't know about Lewis Caroll, here is the short version of it... dude had tendencies that, while seem to be mostly platonic, they were still deeply problematic and very reproachable. The annotator gives many interesting details that confirms what you see on the normal text, but in the preface he says "he would be horrified to think there was something sexual about it." I mean maybe, but as to me I don't feel fully absolving him of everything. Him lacking any potential for grooming or abuse doesn't mean his vouyeristic habits weren't awful.
I asked myself a lot how I wanted to see him after reading this book, and the truth is that at the end of the day, I can't see him as nothing more than a villian. A mostly harlmess villian? Yes, a pathetic, sad, poor little villian? Yes, a villian that is beloved by many? Yes, but a villian nevertheless.
I do like separating the art from the artist, in fact, I most always do that, but the thing is that the subject matter that is so awkward to tackle is deeply ingrained with the book's narrative and symbols, there is no way to escape this at all. There is the possibility to escape it on adaptations of it, as I remember with the movie I loved, but not the book at all, these books are first and foremost about The Melancholy of Lewis Caroll. I also have to admit that their grim background and tragic character make the book incredibly more compelling to me, so if there is something that I saw that could interpret with the most eerie, ominious meaning, I did so because I found exploring his deeply sad situation turned into mythology incredibly entertaining and compelling, I wanted to tackle Caroll as a symbol, the soul of a child that grew up and got stuck into an adulthood that made him feel unworthy.
It is not that there is a few symbols, or some deep references, the whole mythology, the whole ethos of Alice in Wonderland, is constructed on the idealization of Alice Lidell and the fear Lewis had of losing his child friend into adulthood. Book 1 Chapter 4, Alice Grows big, the narrator says, and I quote "there seemed to be no sort of chance of her ever getting out of the room again, no wonder she felt unhappy." Chapter 7, The Mad Hatter says it is always 6 o clock for him, he is stuck, since he had a fight with time. Book 2, Chapter 5, The White Queen says that living backwards in time makes her a little giddy at first. Book Two Chapter 6, Alice says "she can't help growing older" and then Humpty Dumpty says that one perhaps can't, but two can, with proper assistance, stay at seven, at what Alice quickly changes the subject, Book 1 Chapter 11, The Dormouse complains about Alice growing on a ridiculous fashion, saying at the very least he grows at a reasonable pace, in some letters Caroll reveals that the queens are built based on types of mature women he didn't like. The first poem of the first book is about that girl, the final poem of the second book is in acrostic with her name, the changes on size of Book 1, the crown at the end of Book 2, everything is about her, everything. The very poem of Chapter 12, which is treated as a criminal confession, it is clearly, and absolutely surely, a confession of love.
"Don't let him know she liked him best,
For this must ever be
A Secret, kept from all the rest,
Between yourself and me."
Holy shit. Just... holy shit. You can't make this shit up, you can't possibly make it up at all. The feelings are overflowing from the page into reality, this poem is by far the most palpable, you can practically touch it. When he talks with Alice as a white knight he was hoping to stay as, and when he talks to her as the poor wasp in a wig he was afraid to become, it is incredibly easy to see the insecurities of his heart. The tragedy of Caroll isn't just about an obsession but also the existential dread of the transient nature of identity. If you are a kid but you can't stay a kid forever, what does your sense of self make you? Think about it, has any old person actually identified as such? As a being with one step inside the grave?
The chapter of the poem is called Alice's evidence, it is an evidence of love, and yes surely the characters and story treat it as all if it was a matter of nonsense, they make fun of you for trying to make sense out of a nonsense poem, they try to imply it is not a confession, but the joke is on you! A poem can always be both! It can always be nonsense, and it can always depict deep, true feelings, that is what makes the ending of the first book so eerie and ominous! Like what the fricking hell! We are having a confession of love, from this guy, being discussed by the characters from his own mind. This is a buffet tragicomedy for breakfast.
You know one thing? I do love nonsense, and I do love the world of the illogical and the warped, and I did relate a lot with Caroll's melancholy, him trying to find a friend that can see the joy of little things and games, I deeply related to that, and I like his math riddles and when he got close to suggest metaphysics, metafiction and the like, I found him a true genius, and I felt his deep love for all things whimsy. The book most of the time only suggests those wild things can exist, but with all its satirical goofy package, it makes more than enough for a full effect. It is only when he feels that the only people of his time who could enjoy whimsy where little girls that the calamity of his life strikes in. The first book is a bit too "satire about Victorian era society" to really make you feel free, however it is very fun and deep in irony and wit, then, the second book nonsense is not just lacking most logic but it is also peeks into realms of post rational thought. The thing is that most symbols from this book are all and about his melancholy of unrequited love, but then you remember it is love for a child that things turn macabre. It is amazingly horrifying for a pop culture book.
If it hadn't been for the pictures he took, I would have almost accepted his sadness and all his dreams as something pretty and good, a reminder of the good things in life, the joy of whimsy, I get why he has his fans, the world of riddles and pure folly is the best world there is, but that's not his only lore. He is a villian. Many people say he wasn't, but look where they come from, Lewis Caroll Society, Lewis Caroll scholars, those are probably aren't the most impartial parties there are about the subject, right? So what gives? Don't count with people burning down their muse.
Overall... this is a great book, but I have to say the reasons I like it are probably not the ones many of the fans like it. Do you know why Dracula is so popular? The preface in the book I read said that it was the unspoken understanding among readers of the time that Dracula was about vampirism means to represent with consent, is this book the same? It is so popular not just because of what it shows, but because of what it doesn't show?? If that is the case that... that would make too much sense!!! But its fun to imagine, the phenomena of "Carollians" is fun to imagine, indeed. How are their conversations like?
Imagine the scene, it is sunset on the Jabberwocky Cafe, when two Caroll fans meet. They both nod in acknowledgement and one of them sees the other is holding a manuscript under his arm.
-Do you have it? The lost chapter of the wasp in a wig?
-Yes
-Perfect, we will finally crack the code of the nth syllable
-Indeed, but nobody can say outloud what it means, we shall protect the legacy of our mystical mirror man
-Yes, the tortured soul that became a pedo because he lived backwards in time
-Wait, no.
In any case, I think these two books are horrifyingly tragic but also charming and whimsical, they are brimming with personality but also dark, sad, unrequited love, they are incredibly upsetting but also insightful and fun. And this series is a pop culture staple, you can't make this stuff up! It's insane! This might be one of most hilariously creepy books I ever read, and Carroll even past his crimes against humanity turns into a deeply relatable villain. Uh... What else? Hmm, maybe there were too many puns and "characters interpreting things literally" as a source of humor, but when it gets slightly mathy, that's when its good. That Jabberwocky poem? Very fun, that reference to the so called De Sitter's model thing where time stands still on a single place? Genius.
I thought about this and I wondered, when have I felt like this with a piece of art before? And the only answer I could come up with was… the album Slow, Deep and Hard by Type O Negative. Wait, I know it's bad, but let me explain.
The reason Alice in Wonderland + Through the Looking Glass are like Slow Deep and Hard aren't because they are both overly sexual (the books aren't, it's different) but because they are an absolute wild mix of morally rotten repressions (Peter wanting to commit murder, Caroll… doing the Caroll thing) and incredibly relatable obsessions (abandonment issues with Peter and fear of being misunderstood by the adult world with Caroll), they are both pieces of art that while the result is so batshit insane, the initial place where the authors come from is deeply relatable, they are intoxicating but also deeply upsetting. I think I want to find more works like this, the whiplash is addicting.
tl;dr: Albeit his works are too ripe for "psycho analysis" to actually represent childhood as a whole, Carroll succeeds in creating distinctive, whimsical dream logic. Beware though, his dream logic accounts for everything, EVERYTHING what it means to dream! Not just baffling pattern recognition or idea processing, but also a hilariously scandalous dread and emotional turmoil from the lands of depression and obsession.
Does... does that make sense? I'm not saying the Freudians are right with this one because that would be stupid, but Caroll is still a villain, and we can't escape that at the end of the day. This book, though, is absolutely raging mad! So fuck it! Its a 10!!!!
10/10
All this also made Alvin Row finally click for me, for some reason.

Cyfrin Pseudotsuga Character Sheet

"I feel like this party will be as wonderfully weird as the previous!"
(sorry, no background privileges for you)
Name: Cyfrin Pseudotsuga
Species: Fae
Gender: ... next question (AMAB)
Age: Unknown (more than 400)
Birthday: June 15th (Gemini)
Height: 166cm
Eye Color: Red
Hair Color: Yellow
Homeland: Pine Hills
Family: Billy Pseudotsuga (twin brother)
Dorm: Heartslabyul
School Year: Junior (Class D)
Club: Science Club
Best Subject: Summoning
Favorite Food: Surströmming
Least Favorite Food: Anything bland
Dislike: Stairs
Hobby: Journaling
Talents: Puzzle-making, Cryptology
A creature of chaos thriving on recording mysterious and possibly unexplainable phenomena. Getting to understand how this fae works is a hassle and a half and many would get insane trying to even scratch the surface. Has a surprisingly strong moral code, and is actually the most well-adjusted of the two. Billy's biggest supporter.
Twisted from Bill Cipher, with a side of Stanford Pines, Mabel Pines and the Mad Hatter if you squint?
Trivia:
Has monocular vision (can only see from right eye) since childhood. Refuses to elaborate on how it happened
Has attempted to make bears sing choir
In the Card Soldiers rank, is the Nine of Diamonds (diamond mark under left eye, usually hidden by hair)
Like Trey, only wears a hat in Dorm Uniform
Can wear an eyepatch over left eye if there's a risk of it becoming visible (PE uniform) or it would be dangerous (Labwear)
Unwillingly cursed the Heartslabyul stairs. Multiple times
Rook's nickname: Monsieur Inattendu
Floyd's nickname: Yellow Tang
Nicknames people based on their coffin symbol or candy names.
Unique Magic: Call to Weirdmaggedon
"Nothing will be as it is, everything will be as it isn't. With an undying host, let the endless party begin!"
Creates a pocket dimension surrounded by a magical bubble, trapping someone within and showing them their deepest dreams and desires. The bubble can be moved around from the outside. Cyfrin and the trapped one can potentially break the spell by popping the bubble barrier from the inside. Cyfrin is the only one who can go in and out at will, anyone else entering will be trapped within the barrier until the spell is broken.
Despite how the spell came to be, Cyfrin calls it a devious, diabolical trap and refuses to use it (even for storage) unless necessary.
_______
And here's the other twill! (Again, portemanteau of twins and Bill. Shorter than Pseudotsuga twins)
So, Cyfrin. Mostly stayed the same throughout existence, just got refined and polished as time went. Still difficult to pin down due to how... see above (in a different way than Billy, at least!)
Also, if you see me using he/him for that fae... no you didn't. (It was a lovely exercise, though ^^')
"Cyfrin" is a name of Welsh origin meaning mystic (and is close in pronunciation to Cipher). "Pseudotsuga" refers to the Douglas fir (Pseudotsuga menziesii). See Billy for details.
Also, hat fight. Those who know know.

yo, congrats on the 1.5K, not sure if this is where to ask, but I kinda wanted to request a VIll-inn thingy if that's alright :]
I'm a trans guy (he/him) and wanted to request the following: Sit-in, Milkshake, Cucumber Sandwich, Chicken Wings, Curly Fries and Noodles if that's alright !! Have a great day/night n you're awesome :]
general!mad hatter x gn!reader, word count: 450 content (warnings): fluff, forced scenario (sneaky jervis), no consent issues though! the kitchen is now closed! 🔞minors dni🔞 • masterlist • kofi link • tag: finnie1500 (to follow or to block) a/n: ty anon ;-; also this was such a cute prompt, getting to do sneaky jerv 💚
Jervis stood in front of the rusted door, as though he were presenting it to you as the gateway to an elegant haven, and not the dingy entrance to his safehouse. Still, it was nice of him to offer you space there. It didn't seem like the kind of luxury that was afforded to most of his other henchmen, who were left to scramble around and make themselves scarce before the GCPD caught on to them.
With his hand on the doorknob, a flourish with the other, he opened the door and displayed the interior to you.
You forced a smile as you took a few steps inside. It was drab, and it smelled damp. But he had made some effort to keep it to his aesthetics, at least. Books and journals were scattered around, and there was a cabinet of fine china on the wall, fileld with delicate teacups and teapots.
"It's... nice! Thank you for letting me stay here. Where should I put my stuff?"
Jervis wrapped his arms around you quickly, pulling you into an embrace as he sighed dramatically.
"Oh, I am glad to have someone to hide out with this time. It gets rather lonely, and I do enjoy the company."
You hugged him back, trying to comfort him. It must be difficult trying to keep himself hidden, given that he was always searching for meaningful connections. And you were more than happy to fulfil that need, especially if it meant you were kept safe too. But as he held you in a soft hug, you looked around the space again, failing to find another door, other than the open one that led to the tiny bathroom.
"Jervis... there's only one bed... and no sofa."
"Oh dear!"
He withdrew himself from you, cheeks flushed, eyes darting around nervously.
"I hadn't even... thought about that. What a predicament! Well, we can't have either of us sleeping on the floor, can we? Who knows how long we might have to stay in here! Good heavens, this is a bother, isn't it?"
He tutted as he held his finger against his lips, foot tapping in rhythm as he pretending to try and solve the problem.
"Jervis... I can't help but feel this was..."
"OH FINE! Fine. If you must know, I felt this was perhaps the only way we could better get to know one another... in the capacity I so desired. I confess, it was a terrible charade, a ruse designed to have you close to me. Can you ever forgive a romantic, old fool?"
You could. But you wouldn't let it come easily.
