....
I'm going to be honest y'all
I am just so tired rn
the reason these stickers look half-assed
is because they kinda are half assed.
I have my bloomin finals tomorrow and have barely studied cause I've been 1) preocupied by this for a project and 2) I've been sick and absent for the past week.
So nothing to say about these guys umm...
God, my body just feels so drained I partially couldn't give a flying f*ck about my results but I am also vibrating with anxiety.
You get me?
Um so myths here are:
peaches of immortality
the weaver girl and the cowherd
the jade rabbit on the moon
iron fan (pre marriage)
jttw pilgrims sans wukong cause I drew him before
Pangu (creator of the universe I think)
Dbk (sans the pupils cause Idk where to put them and sh!t)
Wait, quick rant:
There's the myth of Pangu and how he spent like 50 000 years holding the heavens and earth apart and his body parts became the earth
MORE SPECIFICALLY, his left eye became the sun.
Easy to keep track of right?
Well in the myth of Chang'E and Hou'Yi, Hou'Yi is sent to shoot the 10 suns, all of whom are the literal sons of the Jade Emperor who all decided to show up at the same time.
SO IS THE SUN A BLOODY EYE OR A CELESTIAL MAN WHO WAS SHOT DOWN
DID PANGU HAVE 10 EYES?
WHERE DID PANGU'S EYE GO THEN?
I've just been bit frazzled by this...
(click photo for less sh!tty quality)

reblogging this again because I have no chill about the pilgrim's canonical heights. Look at that Sandy. He is absurdly large. I love him.
Also their costumes?? Oh my word. Perfection.

Expedition Pilgrims
Sha Wujing (435cm): His outfit is mostly inspired by Mongolian clothes since he's found in the Gobi desert stretch of the journey. His bangles are made of fossil bone, and he can use the waist cloth as a headwrap during adverse weather. His markings are inspired by African Lungfish and Mudfish fins, as they are species that exist somewhere between water and dry air. The beasts on his knees are an extension of him, and he can see and speak through them as needed. His beard and long hair can have Ghibli physics depending on his mood and emotions. Zhu Wuneng (~300cm): Inspired by Northern Tibetan clothes, as that's the region the group recruits him. Traditional clothes tend to have way more accessories and golden details so I had to simplify a bit. His features are a mix of wild boars and Indonesian babirusa, with the iconic bristles on his head. I leaned on ceremonial Tibetan swords and necklace beads for the decorations on his rake. His vest can be closed, he just prefers not to most of the time. Sun Wukong (125cm): I've already commented on his design over here, but I'll elaborate that the yellow shirt is the one he gained from Tripitaka soon after he was released, while the pants and red half-robe were the garments he was given by Guan Yin. The hoops on his feet and purple beads were reacquired back in Huaguoshan when he first fled the pilgrimage, heading to his family instead of Ao Guang's palace. (A-ma and Jinju gave them to him so he'll always have something to home to remember them by, as well as where he first started, as the beads were gained during his lessons with Subodhi.) Tripitaka (163cm): This is but one of his many outfits since travel can be rough on clothes, and even more so when you get kidnapped by demons and thrown off your horse all the time. He wears the usual orange monk robes, with some kind of travel clothes over them. He gains some fur boots from Boquin for cold weather but usually prefers sandals most of the time. He seldom uses the cassock and crown he received from Guan Yin, save for when he pays respects to temples and holy sites, but the staff is a constant companion. Ao Lie (167cm, 130cm at the shoulder as horse): Being effectively in exile until the journey is complete, he wears less fancy clothes than he usually would as a prince, but his status still shows. I tried to balance more casual hanfu of the era with some armor parts, like the waist guard and armored boots. He was given the skill to shapeshift into a horse by Guan Yin when she commanded him to wait for the chosen pilgrim monk, so he can shift at will, but preferably when the tack has been taken off. Speaking of, tack is lost and replaced multiple times during the journey, so I didn't depict any specific one.
my Expedition AU designs and heights for the five lads, ive spent so much time on this its not even funny lololol but hey it's done!! i'm free!!

I really need wukong to talk about the pilgrims in the next season I just love how it's been centuries but he's still grieve them but doesn't talk about them
Tumblr media
it's just shows how much he loved them and it's normal people who lose people they loved don't move on they just learn to live with the grief
Tumblr media Tumblr media
he makes origami of them to watch the new year fireworks with him and keep those origami in his house on the table in front his couch that he sleeps on
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
For wukong they are the light in the darkness even though they're no longer here they're still the thing that saves wukong they're the thing he still seek to feel hope they'll always be a part of him

Idea: Demon Courting Tournaments
So seeing so many Epic the musical Ithaca Saga AUs for Lego Monkie kid got me turning some thoughts in my head like fidget toys.
At this point i think most of the LMK fandom is familiar with courtnapping as a trope in some way and the afformentioned Ithaca sage aus, especially allthe ones based on The Challenge song, have given me thoughts.
So... what if.
COURTING TOURNAMENTS.
When especially powerful or desirable demons are being pursued by too many Suitors and theyre sick of having to deal with each one individually, a more organized solution is called for.
Ideally with the help of friends and family the sought after demon will call all their suitors together and set forth a series of challenges to win their hand.
Common challenges include things that show off a suitors strength and ability to provide, ya know fighting, races, hunting contests. But also more unexpected things like say, cooking competitions or Art and poetry or a judging of gifts, to determine which suitors actually know the interests or desires of the person theyre courting.
The challenges narrow down the pool of suitors until the final decision is made.
Buuuuuut
If the sought after demon doesnt wish to mate and marry, they can appoint a trusted friend or family member as their "Champion" in the tournament.
The Champion's job is to act according to the pursued demons' best interests, knocking out undesirable suitors, acting as the eyes and ears for them to see if any of the suitors might actually be compatible. Amd if it comes to it, winning the tournament themselves to assert the pursued demons right to remain single.
So where am i going with all this?
Well one i wanna write a Spicynoodles fic with this sort of premise but, while i was planning that i had MORE THOUGHTS.
Specifically thoughts about Wukong.
Sun Wukong returning home from his legendary journey now a god, a hero and, to his dismay ...
Single.
With Macaque's absence and presumed demise, Wukong finds himself with dubious honor of being perhaps the most eligible single demon in all of Asia, much to his chagrin.
Not only does he have no desire to find a new mate (he has... had a mate, his only mate, his dear lost Moonlight) The increasingly frequent attempted courtnappings are interfering with his efforts of rebuilding Flower Fruit Mountain (His Kingdom, His people all he has left except his pilgrim brothers).
Its pissing him off to say the least. And perhaps one or two especially powerful suitors wind up causing Wukong to make enough of a commotion that Heaven urges Wukong to find a more Orderly Solution.
A Courting Tournament.
Wukong is Annoyed but if this spectacle results in him finally getting some peace and quiet hell do it.
The Pilgrims are at his side through the whole fiasco.
And it works... for a time.
See the Handsome Monkey King, Great Sage Equal to Heaven, the Victorious Fighting Buddha, is just to tempting of a potential mate for all these demons to take the hint.
So in his long Life Wukong has to Suffer through multiple courting tournaments being held in his dubious honor so that all these randy demons will get the hell off his mountain.
At least 3 happen. One of Wukongs Pilgrim brothers acting as his Champion each time, all of them fighting increasingly fiercely to protect their Little Big Brother from the careless affections of his many suitors.

hi! do you accept asks for your daisy au?
since the au starts out with mac messing with the pilgrims and trying to ruin wukong's rep. i wonder how the other pigrims feel about the two and mac specifically? im sure theyre not really scared of him since swk easily punts him away like any other enemy (until mac finds the circlet being used and goes even more unhinged but on them now hehehe) it would be surprising if they couldn't see that the two have history
Hi💃💃 you’re the first Daisy ask I’ve gotten actually✨
I think the other pilgrims can see the two have some kind of history, because while Wukong seems pissed at the other celestial primate, he’s not straight up hostile with the guy like other enemies they face. So they’re more open to introducing themselves with the guy and regularly talk with Macaque when Wukong isn’t looking, since every time he finds out Macaque is around the pilgrims he chases him away (Mac always runs away laughing).
I think ironically, because of Macaques intervention and already unhinged nature, it kinda ends up stopping Wukong from his own unhinged behavior, which results in the circlet’s usage being almost nonexistent, which stops any true hostility from happening.

These two scenes are connected
Sandy’s JTTW flashback/ Wukong and Macaque’s fight are connected.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Think about it. If Wukong and Macaque really were fighting, wouldn’t that mean that the Pilgrims would be close by to help?
Tumblr media
It would also make sense from a timeline standpoint, since we know that the Pilgrims disappeared between the Samadhi Fire incident and DBK’s entrapment.
(Wukong disappeared after the entrapment, the Pilgrims seeminlgy being "dead" by this point).
Tumblr media
And since Wukong and Macaque’s fight have no clear placement on that timeline, it wouldn’t be too far of a fetch to say that it happened between thoughs two things.
If it also did happen at this time, it would mean that at this point Macaque would have gained the “chaos powers” from the deal, since his shadow powers seem to be connected to his chaos powers, and we know he had them at that time
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And since we don’t know how chaos powers fully work yet, this scene with Pigsy/Zhu Baije, could have been the result of an attack from Macaque.
Tumblr media
Which would also explain why we even saw this scene in the first place! I mean, why else would they show this otherwise very random flashback?
And not only would it explain that, and where the fight is on the timeline, it would also explain what happened to the Pilgrims.
Tumblr media
That the Pilgrims got hurt badly in the fight with Macaque.
Making people think that they all died, but chaos powers work in weird ways (ways we don’t understand yet), so they are still alive, yet with no memories of their past, and are now known as Sandy, Pigsy and Tang.
