Something Something Sick In Bed
ship: Lux Astrum x Gladiolus Amicitia source: Final Fantasy XV word count: 1103
Maybe Gladio can't fuck the sick right out of Lux, but neither of them can keep their fucking hands off of each other even when one of them has the flu.
This is the edited version with absolutely no gross shit involved, you're all free to read without having to put up with my disgusting bullshit.
tag list: @wwafterdark @alluredbyalatus @thebeedroomhymns @the-sleeping-city @camellias-and-cayenne @modena-afterdark
The fact of the matter was, if one of them got sick, they ALL got sick.
Which was not to say preventative measures weren't taken, holding up in a motel was a good enough way to quarantine. Or at least provide some respite if the worst would come to worst.
Lux had the honor of being patient zero this time, the brunt of flu symptoms having hit him like a bus. Despite the risk of contagion, Gladio remained at his side, braving the hot zone as it were.
Lux's weak, half-limp body was currently in the bed, one bit of banter had led to something else, and now Gladio was reaching down to unbuckle his pants to free his leaking cock from the confines of his pants.
"Damn that pitiful sick look is so hot on you," he hummed as he gave himself a moment to take in the sight of the mess in front of him, a soft grunt of arousal escaping him as he climbed onto the bed.
Lux didn't reply, presumably way too exhausted if his fluttering eyelids and heaving chest had anything to say about it. Gladio took the liberty of relieving him of his lounge shorts, making to toss them to the side before a small detail caught his attention.
"Someone's excited~"
"Hurry up and give me some fuck endorphins, delivery behemoth."
"Yes sir!"
With that little bit of banter out of the way, Gladio wasted no time positioning his sizeable cock against Lux's slit, inciting a small gasp from the dragoon. As his breath hitched, Gladio proceeded to push his hips forward, sinking himself into that tight, wet hole with his own groan, this one of satisfaction.
"Fuuuck, Lux, your pussy's burning up." His head tilted back slightly, closing his eyes as he indulged in the warmth of Lux's fever-hot cunt. "Feels so good around my cock..."
Lux merely moaned, a sound that was dangerously close to a whimper. Though, he had no energy to hold up pretenses at the moment, not to mention clarity to even be embarrassed. That and the fact that being absolutely filled to the brim with Gladio's throbbing cock was already scrambling his brain of course.
Gladio wasted no time in pulling his hips back and then thrusting into him again, and then again, and again. After all, Lux was too limp to put much effort into reciprocating.
Which admittedly felt kind of nice on his end, being jostled back and forth as he lost himself in the disorientation of fever and pleasure. His moans were soft and subdued, not having the strength to express his satisfaction.
Gladio was a bit more explicit about his own pleasure, pushing Lux's thighs forward against his chest to reach a more indulgent angle. His grunts and moans were more prominent as he buried his cock in Lux's cunt over and over again, eyes clenched shut and brow furrowed.
"Gods you're so hot, you're making me sweat," he panted, feeling the fever heat radiating off of Lux's body.
Lux merely replied with a thumbs up as Gladio cracked an eye open, the latter smirking.
"How's about a cold shower after this?" he asked, punctuated by a loud moan. "We're both gonna need it."
"Uhuh..." Lux figurately and literally drooled, his head tilted off to the side as an expression of delirious indulgence overtook his face.
"Fuck you look so sexy right now," Gladio groaned, his breaths becoming short and shallow as he continued to pound away.
Truthfully, Lux looked like hell. The absolute picture of unflattering illness.
But that pitiful state plus the expression of overwhelmed pleasure was such a turn-on for Gladio that he found himself unable to keep from running his eyes over him. Lux was always so deadpan and snarky, it was always a treat to see that personality flipped on its head like this.
Lux didn't really know how long Gladio went at it, only really paying attention when Gladio would stop to make sure he was okay, to which Gladio would receive a telling glare that said 'don't stop, dumbass.'
Gladio wasn't really keeping track either, to his merit. It's not like either of them were allowed to leave the motel room and convene with the others, they were on strict quarantine so might as well pass the time in the most preferable of ways.
But as always, Gladio eventually found his composure faltering, not afraid to be a little loud about his indulgence as his previously steady rhythm began to break off into inconsistent thrusts.
"Oh FUCK, Lux, I'm so fucking close," he panted, being so courteous as to keep his boyfriend up to speed.
Of course, Lux could only make a drooly 'blehhhh' of confirmation, eyes rolled back as he limply shifted back and forth. A spasm of pleasure would wrack his frame every now and again, and Gladio wondered if he'd be able to finish from this.
But he sure as hell was going to, closing his eyes again as he squeezed Lux's thighs and picked up his erratic pace.
"Godsdammit... Fuck, I'm so close... I'm so CLOSE, I'M-!"
He choked suddenly, feeling Lux's inner walls beginning to throb around his cock. He opened his eyes, seeing Lux's expression had now become a dazed, weary smile of indulgence.
"Oh fuck are you cumming? Gods, that's so fucking HOT, you're totally out of it aren't you? FUCK, don't mind if I-" Gladio let out a sharp moan, doubling over and managing a few more moments of desperate humping before slamming his cock deep inside of Lux's throbbing cunt, groaning in indulgence as thick ropes of cum shot inside of the tight, hot hole with every twitch of his cock.
This got an audible reaction out of Lux, who made a sound akin to a hiccup before shuddering in satisfaction, stiffening before going limp again with a groan.
Gladio grunted, allowing himself to ride out his mind-numbing orgasm until the last twitch of his cock dribbled the remainder of his cum into Lux.
Both of them sat or lay in their own respective positions, panting, and sweating, and thoroughly satisfied.
"Fuck, Lux..." Gladio breathed, trembling a little bit from the intensity of his orgasm.
"Mhmmm..." Lux mumbled, his eyes closed and his expression back to one of weariness.
"Heh. Looks like someone enjoyed himself. Your welcome for your respite of pleasure from your hellacious-" Gladio began to before a few small coughs rose from his chest.
Lux's eyes snapped open just in time to make eye contact with him, the two staring at each other for a second.
"... Fuck."

Mini Fanfic #1103: Lunch Date With the Colonel (King of Fighters)
12:47 p.m. in the Streets of Southtown........
Shingo: (Takes a Deep Breath While Walking on the Sidewalk Next to K') Alright. (Pats on Both Sides of his Pants) I got my phone om my left pocket, my wallet on my right, house key.....(Turns to K') How do I look? Plain? Too causal?
K': You look decent to me.
Shingo: You sure? (Points Back) Cause I can go run back to my apartment and-
K': Kid, relax. You look fine and you and I both know your stamina is not good enough to run back and forth in long distance without tiring yourself out down the line.
Shingo: ('Sighs Heavily') I knoooow. I just want to make good enough impression on the colonial. I mean, you said yourself, right? That he's serious most of the time?
K': Yeah, in the battlefield. He seems like a chill guy to talk to whenever he's off duty.
Shingo: ('Sighs in Relief') Chill and calm. Okay.
K': Then again, I did seen him give that one guy the death glare for making eye contact at him for too long.
Shingo: (Eyes Begins to Widened in Fear) D-Death Glare?
K': And he doesn't seem like the type to have patience talking someone being nervous around him. Either that or he must've not been a fan of unprofessionalism.
Shingo: (Places his Hands on Both Sides of his Head) He is gonna crush me like a bug, I am SO screw!!
K': ('Sigh') Again, relax. Just stay clam, be yourself out there and everything will go smoothly from there....But just in case, tone down on your goofy side and try not to miss toss your drink on his face by mistake
Shingo: (Turns to K') Oh come on, I'm not that clumsy-
Shingo trips on a small rock and begins to fall forward until K' was ae to catch him in the neck of time by grabbing the back of his shirt collar at ease.
Shingo: ..........Point taken. (Stands Back Up on his Feet and Starts Tidying Up Himself) Thanks.
K': (Simply Nodded) Mmhm. (Takes a Look at the Café in Front of His Prospective) Is this the place you guys are supposed to be meeting at?
Shingo: (Nodded To K') Yep. Las Bistro. (Takes a Look at the Place as Well) Never been there before, I have heard that the food here is worth checking out.
????????: I recommend you try the Kidu-Kidu Karo meal. Sliced, cooked intestinal sausages that originated from Karo Land of North Sumatera.
The duo turns their attention to a man wearing a blue, turtle neck sweater and an eye patch, sitting on outdoor table before nodding at them.
??????: Gentlemen.
Shingo: (Eyes Widened at the Familiar Face) Coloniel Heidern!?
K': You got here as early as always
Heidern: Indeed I have. It would be rude of me not to meet my daughter's boyfriend on the appointed time. (Turns to Shingo) Shingo Yabuki isn't it? (Pulls Out his Hand to Shingo With a Soft Smile on his Face) It's a pleasure to finally meet you in person.
Shingo stares at Heidern's hand before he felt a gentle shoulder bump from K' Dash, silently telling him to accept the gesture.
Shingo: (Nervous Gives his Girlfriend's Father His Hand as He Shakes It With His) T-T-The pleasure is all mine, sir....
Heidern: (Frowns a Bit) You're shaking. Is everything okay?
Shingo: (Quickly Goves Heidern a Sheepish Smile Before Taking a Seat on his and Heidern's Table) I-I'm okay, sir. Just a tad bit nervous on meeting you is all.
Heidern: (Gives Shingo a Reassuring Smile) I understand how nerve-wracking first impressions can be at times, but I csn assure you that I won't bite. (Notices K' Trying to Sneak Off) Which reminds me.......K'Dash!
K': (Immediately Stops Walking by the Command as He Slowly Turns Back the Colonel) U-Uh...Yeah?
Heidern: (Glares at his White Haired Associate) What is this I hear about you using my name and profession as a fear tactic towards your friend here?
K': (Slouches his Arms Down in Defeat) Leona told you all about that, didn't she?
Heidern: Yes, she did. And let's just say I'm not too happy by your immature antics. We'll talk about this later. (Raises an Eyebrow) Unless you want to do so right now on our lunch meeting.
K': (Groans While Rolling his Eyes in Annoyance) No sir. I'd rather us talk later. (Finally Walks Away) Have fun on your lunch date or whatever.
Shingo: 'Kay! (Waves Goodbye to his Friend) See you later, K'!
Heidern: (Sighs While Slowly Shakes his Head) When will that boy ever learn? (Turns to Shingo) I apologize for my subordinate's rudeness and mistreatment towards you.
Shingo: It's okay, sir. He doesn't mean any real harm by it.
Heidern: Are you certain?
Shingo: (Happily Nodded) Mmhmm! I mean, sure, he can be a real pain in the neck sometimes, but he's still one of the coolest people I've ever had the pleasure of being friends with. He even went out of his way to walk with me here just help me calm my nerves.
Heidern: (Simply Nodded With a Small Smile on his Face) I see. That's good to hear. It's nice to see him putting the effort to open up amd make new friends rather than making potential enemies.
Shingo: Right? I always knew he's a big softie deep down, even when he tries hard not to be for some reason.
Heidern: You always tend to see the best in people, don't you Shingo?
Shingo: Mostly? (Starts Rubbing The Back of his Head Back and Forth) I mean, i wouldn't say I see best in literally EVERYONE I meet, but I try to give the select few that I know a benefit of doubt as best I can, you know
Heidern: And that's admirable in it of itself. I can see why Saisyu hold you in high regards.
Shingo: (Eyes Begins to Widened) Wait, you know Master Saisyu!?
Heidern: (Simply Nodded Once More) I do, yes. He would Invite me to his house to have tea with him and his wife, every time I visit Japan. As loud and prideful as he is, his company and wise-cracking jokes never fails to brighten up my day, especially the stressful ones.
Shingo: (Chuckles Lightly) Yeah, that's master for ya. Always finding some way to make anyone laugh. I miss him. And everyone else back in Japan really.
Heidern: Do.you wish to visit them one of these days?
Shingo: Definitely! (Crosses his Arms While Brainstorming) Granted, I would need to save up more of my money for plane tickets as well as plan out a perfect schedule for the visit, but I would love to back there and bring everyone I know with me. Rock, K', Kula, Ms. Mary, Terry if isn't too busy doing whatever, and Leona. I-If that's.....perfectly okay with you of course, sir....
Heidern: It's fine with me. I know she's capable of taking care of herself.
Shingo: (Happily Nodded) Exactly! And I'll do everything I can to male sure she has the best time ever.
Heidern: I'm sure you will. I honestly can't think of anywhere else Leona would rather be that to be with the young man who she gradually falls in love with, the one she vows to protect at all cost.
Shingo: She told you guys about? Y-You know, besides us dating or....whatever.....
Heidern: (Chuckles Lightly) How could she not? You're the one person she talks about the most, even when you two started out as friends. You've always managed to put a smile on her face, even more so than we ever could surprisingly enough.
Shingo: (Eyes Widened in Genuine Surprise) I......really made that much of an impact on her?
Heidern: (Simply Nodded Yet Again) I believe you do. And I sincerely wish the best for the both of you going forward.
Shingo: (Eyes Starts to Lit Up as He Quickly Gets Up From his Seat and Bows Rapidly at Heidern in Graditude) T-Thank you so much for your approval, sir! I am truly grateful!~
Heidern: (Smiles Sheepishly) Easy now, Shingo. There's no need for that. If anything, I should be thanking you for making my little girl the happiest she has ever been.
Shingo: It's no problem at all! (Finally Stops Bowing) And listen, I may not be as special or as strong as you or any of other subordinates in your army, but that won't stop me from doing my damndest to love and be there for your daughter no matter what!
?????: I'll always love and be there for you too~
Shingo gets startled before turning around to see his girlfriend, Leona, standing beside him with her hair down wearing a light blue sundress.
Shingo: Leona-san? Is that really you?
Leona: (Smiles Sheepishly and a Tad Bit Brightly) In the flesh~ I apologize for not getting here sooner. Seirah insisted I find something more "formal" for our lunch date today. (Waves her Hair Back While Blushing and Looking Away a Bit) A-And I picked this dress, so......W-What do you think?~
Heidern: (Smiles Softly) It looks great on you, Leona.
Shingo: (Stares at Leona in Awe) Yeah......Amazing even~
Leona: (Slowly Starts Smiling Again) Thank you~ I think you look amazing too, Shingo-Kun~
Shingo: You think so? (Looks Down at the Dark Blue Buttoned Shirt and Black Pants He's Currently Wearing) It doesn't nearly look as noteworthy as you do.
Leona: Nonsense. Look wonderful. Handsome even~
Shingo: (Smiles Softly While Blushing and Gently Grab Hold of Both of Leona's Hands) And you're just as beautiful as you've always been~
Leona: (Giggles Softly) Oho you~
The couple begins to rub their noses on one another in an affectionate manner as Heidern begins to chuckle some more.
Heidern: Alright, you two. Save the romance after we order our meals. And be cautious with it as well. I'm afraid I'm far too young to have grandchildren.
Shingo/Leona: (Immediately Stop What They Were Doing and Turns to Heidern With Bright Red Blushes on Each of their Face) WHAAAAT!?
Leona: (Glares at Heidern) Father! We are NOT that careless!!
Heidern: (Smiles Sheepishly, Trying his Hardest Not to Let Out Yet Another Chuckle or Two) I know you're not, dear. Just wanted to make sure you two are responsible till the day you get married is all.
Leona: We are plenty responsible! And we're too young to think about our future wedding right now!!(Turns to her Flustered Boyfriend) Isn't that right, Shingo-kun?
Shingo: Careless.......Wedding......Grand.....chil.....de...rn....
Shingo begins to faint as he slouches himself down on his chair.
Leona: (Eyes Widened in Complete Shock as She Let's out a Gasp) Oh no! Shingo-kun!!
Heidern: He fainted. (Grabs his Chin While Thinking) I think I might've went too far on the dad jokes there......
Leona: (Turns Back to Heidern) You think!? ('Sigh Heavily') Nevermind. Just go and ask a waiter for a glass of water for me to splash on Shingo's face while I keep him company. (Grabs One of her Unconscious' Boyfriend's Hand With One Hand While Using the Other to Fan his Face) Hurry!
Heidern: R-Right! (Quickly Gets Up From his Seat to Find the Nearest Waiter) U-Uh excuse me? Waiter? Waitress?

Hell could be spelled with looking at Heterodermia, so pretty, so diverse, so hard to key out. I need to get over myself and get into chemical spot tests.
My go to is from this site and many other guides I own that really hit the yellow underside for this species and the medula being scratched yellow that really add as the easier indicator since there are 3 lichens that look too similar. : “lower surface: felted with rust-colored or yellowish-brown pigment, K+ purple, not to be confused with the bluish-black underside present in H. japonica, arachnoid, rhizinate; rhizines: black, marginal, simple to squarrosely branched”-

The Wizarding World of Crypto
Details
CATEGORY: crypto OBSERVED DIFFICULTY: 2/5 CTF: Unnamed
Challange
[Text lost but we are given a netcat ip/port]
Solution
We are given morse code after conecting and told it is a name.
If we decrypt it, we are given N, e & c, RSA paramters.
After running a few attacks with rsactftool we find that a cube-root attack works most of the time.
Decrypting the c value we get some scrabeled text, probably a rot-13 cypher.
Conter-rotating the text, we get a human name!

Lostprophets & My Chemical Romance
When it comes to million dollar studios / mansions, Los Angeles, where My Chemical Romance is currently doing pre-production for their new - and as yet untitled - album, is very impressive. Built in 1920 for a silent film star, it is covered in such a way as to simulate an Asian palace, with panoramic views of the city, an outdoor swimming pool, acres of gardens, and - according to vocalist Gerard Way - a ghost that opens and closes doors and even takes baths. Gerard crawled out of bed at noon as his old friend, Ian Watkins is coming soon. He and the Lostprophets frontman will meet to discuss their future performances on 'Give It A Name' - a festival that will see them perform to 30,000 people in two days.
When Ian appears the two greet each other genuinely affectionate, talking about many things; from Gerard's art to Bono's sunglasses and, of course, the ghost guest Gerard admits to fear. The two singers are pleasant company, laughing, joking and obviously relaxed, interrupting and finishing each other's sentences as close friends usually do.
When did you meet?
Gerard: It was at the Slims, in San Francisco and Lostprophets was running a show with Head Automatica. I didn't know them, so I got on his bus and he was the coolest singer I've ever met.
Haven't you met singers before, back then?
Gerard:I had met a few, but singers are usually weird guys. They often have a 'lead singer vibe' and he didn't have one, he was so kind, respectful and personable.
Ian: We knew his manager because he had toured with bands that we had toured with. Even before the first My Chemical Romance album came out, he was already talking all day about them. He sent me the record when it came out and I used to listen to it all the time, it was fucking awesome. Did they get along immediately? Gerard: Yeah. I think everyone in both bands hit it off right away. They were down to earth guys. We hadn't met anyone as great as them, so it was a huge impression on our band that they had that attitude. Ian:
And after that, we keep crashing at events, anywhere, like in Japan….
Gerard: That is a very funny story! You have to fly everywhere when you play (at the Japanese festival) Summer Sonic; you can't drive because Japan is made of a lot of big islands. This was when he still used to get screwed. It was one of the last times that I was drunk or high, actually… Ian was in front of me on the plane and he was turning around to try to have a conversation with me, but he couldn't.
Ian: I hadn't realized it at first. I was talking about the songs on the album I was thinking about…
Gerard:… And at one point I just thought 'I can't deal with this man'. I felt really bad about that I had already thrown up more than I had ever seen in my damn life while trying to get my pills; we were sharing a bus on the way to the plane. I must have looked like the most broke asshole. I was ashamed all the way.
How often do you get together?
Gerard: I would say once every five months, maybe more often. We always collide.
Ian: Yes, when you go on tours you always bump into someone. The strangest thing was when I was in New York, having a snack ...
Gerard:Oh yeah! And we just meet! We were on our way to a place called 'Toy Tokyo', which is one of our favorite stores. We passed a restaurant and Ian was sitting there hanging out.
Ian: They came by and I was like 'Oh shit!' because it was so unexpected.
Gerard: And then we did a full US tour together and it was fun, but Lostprophets was still on the UK schedule, so they would fall asleep on the bus at odd hours and stay up all night.
Ian: That was before the My Chemical Romance record took off, so it was before they became rock stars! But it was cool because we did our own shows on off days.
Gerard:Yes, it was fun doing our shows together, because there was always the same vibe.
Do you keep in touch when you are not on tour?
Gerard: Yes, Sidekick! (controlled email senders)
Ian: You're never in yours! He used to be online all day, but now he's very cool for it.
Gerard: I think I changed my username, but I didn't tell anyone, I just hoped they would notice! So no one talks to me now!
They grew up in places as remote as New Jersey and Wales, what common areas do they share?
Ian: I think we are both working class.
Gerard:When you come from a working class place, you have to leave soon or you will be stuck there forever. Jersey is definitely that kind of place. It's very different if you live somewhere in Los Angeles…
Ian: You don't need to try here, you can go to clubs and gigs every day in LA. It is very easy to believe that you are someone in LA until you realize that there is a whole world outside. It's like the same as London and New York.
Gerard: Yes, but to come from the places that we come from; Where you have shitty jobs, you realize that you are nobody.
Ian: And if you want to do something, make a difference or at least enjoy life, you really have to work your ass off.
Gerard:What's the most shitty job you had in Wales?
Ian: I worked in Iceland. A frozen food store.
Gerard: Oh wow that's weird because my first shitty job was at a frozen food stand at a supermarket. They're both sober now, but Gerard wasn't when they first met: Did his using drugs and alcohol affect their friendship? Gerard: No Ian: I just didn't realize I had a problem! Gerard: Yes, apart from that plane trip. But even though he had a problem, I think the press made him look worse than he already was. When we did that tour together, I was already clean.
The two are working on new albums. Has either listened to each other's new songs?
Gerard: No. We haven't played anything for anyone.
People are predicting that they will both transcend the rock scene and come back with a more pop album this time. Is there any truth to that?
Gerard: I think that's what they expect us to do! On the other hand, some people may believe that our album will be more aggressive to compensate for that.
Ian: A lot of bands do that and screw themselves up. They succeed and say 'we have to prove that we are real' and confuse being real with being shit.
Gerard:That is completely true. So people might expect a more aggressive record from us, or maybe one that makes a lot less sense. But I wouldn't say it's more pop, although it's prettier.
Did you see a lot of bands growing up?
Gerard: Yes, because our only escape was to go and find the local show. There were two places that I would go, ' The Pipeline ' and ' Studio One '. The latter was completely hardcore, bands like Downset, Madball, Dog eat dog…
Ian: Dog Eat Dog! Dammit!
Gerard:The most taboo thing there was as a teenager was Slayer. The [Anti-obscenity lobby] PMRC was so big in the US that they made it almost impossible to get their records. They thought Slayer was satanic. You couldn't get WASP or Venom records, but Slayer was a sure door to evil! I remember when I got 'South of Heaven'; it made a big impression on me. Have you been in front of any other band performance? Gerard: Not in the mosh zone, but I was on the floor for Slim's once. Most of the time, I watch from the side of the stage. Ian:
Everything is ground at Slim's! That was a great show, because we met there. As I said; We got to know each other before these guys took off, and that's nice because I think meeting them after that would have been kind of weird.
So is it weird to meet bands that are already big?
Ian: Yes, because they don't care. As Gerard was saying, singers sometimes have attitudes and it is strange to meet a successful band that is still humble. I don't think My Chemical Romance would have been like that but bands get very reluctant when meeting people. They think 'you only want to be my friend because you want something.' It was great meeting Gerard before they grew up, because I know our friendship is honest.
Do things change when you get to the same level as other bands?
Ian: If we played in the US now, My Chemical Romance would top the list, whereas last time we were on them, but that's okay.
Gerard: Yes, when you go out with a band that you love, there is respect and it shows on stage. But if you play with a band that you don't respect, then you go out and destroy them.
Ian: And it's not like we release two albums at the same time. We left and their time came.
So what if both albums were out at the same time? Would they be aware of the other's sales position?
Gerard: Well we're both rock bands, but we offer something very different to people, so I don't feel in competition with these guys.
Ian:If they were assholes it would be horrible to see them get so successful, because it sucks to see idiots doing well. The only thing they do is add to your stupidity! But when you like band music it's always great to see that they do well.
Gerard: Yes, you will always be supporting your friends even if they are kicking your ass!
Ian: And if they're kicking your butt, it just makes you work harder- It's not a sour rivalry, it's a great thing -a friendship and respect.
My Favorite My Chemical Romance Song (by Ian Watkins)
I love 'You know what they do to guys like us in prison'. The first time I listened to their second album, that song grabbed me as soon as it started playing. It had some really cool changes; the way it starts off with a piano staccato, and the lyrics are fantastic. It conjured up a lot of images and I liked the fact that the verse is on the piano.
My Favorite Lostprophets Song (by Gerard Way)
It's easily 'Last Train Home'! When we were working on Three Cheers for sweet revenge, that damn video came out every five minutes and no one could help but sing it. We were saying 'Man, this is great!' I think the chorus is really beautiful. They weren't trying to capitalize on some kind of junk-young culture, the song really meant something, especially when they were playing it live. If someone is really honest with a song, it will always become a favorite song, and that one really stood out.

Is this the first video to focus on Bahiyyih’s post-chorus “HEY!” ad-libs? They’re such a great fit for her (and they show that she’s more involved with this song than it seems at first glance). I’ve been waiting for someone to highlight them like this; even the official choreography video is always focused on the centers instead of what Bahiyyih’s doing, which is really weird.

一剪梅·红藕香残玉簟秋 - plum blossom cutting · red lotuses linger in remnants of fragrance
by 李清照 (Li Qingzhao, 1084 -1155)
红藕香残玉簟秋 hóngǒu xiāng cán yù diàn qiū Red lotuses linger in remnants of fragrance; on bamboo mats, jade-like, there is a touch of Autumn.
轻解罗裳 独上兰舟 qīng jiě luōshang dú shàng lánzhōu Slightly parting the light silk skirt, alone, she boards the magnolia-wood boat.

NOTES
F O R M A T So this is another Song Lyric. But it is a song lyric in more ways than one.
《一剪梅·红藕香残玉簟秋》 is a 宋词 (sòng cí) or Song Dynasty lyric by the poet Li Qingzhao. The 词 lyric was a form that came after 诗 poetry. Unlike 诗 though, they are not just poems, but also literally lyrics. Each work has an accompanying melody.
To write a 词 piece, poets must use various poetic meters from fixed pattern forms, using fixed-rhythm, fixed-tone, and line-lengths that may vary based on an original melody also known as tune pattern 词牌 (cípái). The resulting lyrics are sung using that melody. Unfortunately, all of the melodies for these lyrics have been lost to time, though there have been attempts to reconstruct them in more modern times.
The title can usually be read as 《tune pattern title · first line of lyric》 and are often translated as: To the tune of <tune pattern/cipai title>, <first line of lyric>. I didn’t do that here to keep my title short xD
B A C K G R O U N D Or my best guess at it anyway!
In the second year after Li Qingzhao's marriage to Zhao Mingcheng, due to ~political struggles~ between factions from the new court and the previous one, her father Li Gefei was dismissed from office and could only return to his place of origin with his family. Li Qingzhao as his daughter, was also implicated in this as a child of someone in the Yuanyou faction. It was decreed that children of criminal officials of the Yuanyou faction were not allowed to live in the capital, so she had no choice but to separate from her husband and return to her hometown alone to join her parents. This supposedly happened in the Summer of the year 1103, which was a year after their marriage.
As far as I know, this was the only time early on in their marriage that they were separated. So there’s a good chance this work was a result of that period in her life.
P O E M
红藕香残玉簟秋 red lotus / fragrance / remnants // jade / bamboo mat / Autumn
红藕 is an alternate name for the red lotus. A search on gushiju.net, with the field narrowed on Song Dynasty yields 27 poems with the word 藕 in their titles, and at least 15 in which the title is referring to a lotus flower of some sort. 香 can sometimes be used to allude to a flower, but I am leaning towards this one being about the lotus’ fragrance. And then, it is still difficult to see 残 and not think damaged and hence, incomplete. In this case, I suppose it would mean remnants. The remnants of the lotus’ lingering fragrance.
So, the speaker is near a water body. Somewhere where there is enough water and enough lotuses that their lingering fragrance can be smelled. Wikipedia tells me that lotus plants are adapted to grow in the flood plains of slow-moving rivers and delta areas, while Baidu informs me that they live where waters are calm and still, and where there is shallow waters, especially lakes, marshes and ponds. Let’s see where this poem takes us!
Two notes on the lotus: The flowers of lotus plants bloom in the Summer and in the Autumn, they either bud or, having reached the end of their flowering season, fall. I had to google 红藕 the way that I did, because the word 藕 refers to the root of the lotus, which we like very much to eat. It was instantly recognizable as the other half of 莲藕, meaning lotus root. When chopped and cooked in soup, it oxidizes and turns a pale brownish pink colour.

While thinking about this, I got curious about how a full lotus plant looks like, and went to google for a picture. This was my first time seeing the full lotus plant, even in illustration. Should really have expected this, but somehow the position of the ‘root’ still surprised me.

A 簟 (diàn) is a mat of woven bamboo usually used for lying on or sitting. It has a cooling effect in the Summer, sort of like the waterbeds of today.
Tumblr media
(Source)
The usage of 玉 in 玉簟, is a simile comparing the bamboo mat to jade. This is a way of describing the surface of the bamboo mat, that it has that same lustor and beauty, and that it is very cool to the touch, the way that jade (specifically jadeite as opposed to nephrite) is even at room temperature. Building on that, 秋 feels like an adjective. And yet, 秋 is Autumn. What is going on?
This is a depiction of a scene as felt through the senses. How do we know that there are lotuses wilting? Through the lingering notes of their fragrance. How do we know the season? Through the jade-like chill of the lustrous bamboo mat beneath us and the fading of the lotus’ fragrance. Autumn is here.
轻 / 解 / 罗裳 // 独 / 上 / 兰舟 gently / undoing / silk upper robe // alone / boarded / magnolia-wood boat.
The 解 usage here I thought was 解衣 at first - to take off an article of clothing (which, just FYI dates back to 《战国策》 Annals of the Warring States, edited and compiled by Liu Xiang of the Han Dynasty). And so the line was translated as: gently doffing silk summer robes.
But stealing a bit of time during team building at work (on stone ‘homework’ benches too!) to stare at this poem in my notebook, it suddenly didn’t make sense again… Although Autumn’s chill also explains why it's time to take off summer clothes, especially if you’re getting on a boat since its always colder and windier where there is water, there is quite a bit of an awkward time gap between changing out your summer clothes and getting on a boat!
This was when I concluded that it was TIME TO MOVE ON and look at this entire part of the poem as a whole.
A particular weave of silk fabric, 罗 (luō) is lightweight and very suitable for summer clothes. Here’s an example of a fancier type of it.
Tumblr media
Meanwhile, the 裳 (read: shang) is the equivalent of a skirt. Like what the lady is wearing in the photo below.
Tumblr media
(Source)
兰舟 is actually just a fancier way to say ‘boat’. BUT it can apparently also mean bed, I didn’t manage to find any examples in my quick skim of gushiju, but a lot of dictionaries do say this, so I suspect it may just be rarely used. Its one of the many reasons I’ve been chewing at this line for a while.
The first 兰舟 was a boat made with wood from the magnolia tree by the famous architect, carpenter and engineer Lu Ban of the Zhou dynasty, according to a story in the lower volume of 《述异记》, which was a compilation of supernatural stories from the Northern and Southern Dynasties by Zu Chongzhi. By the way, he had A LOT of hobbies (whoa! see the ss below). This probably makes it the dated version of an urban legend? Anyway.
Tumblr media
I do prefer to think the intended meaning was boat, not bed - just taking a moment here to be amused at the pronunciations of 船 (chuán) boat and 床 (chuáng) bed being so close in mandarin xD - because of the previous imagery from the association of lotuses with water bodies and vibe of the scene. The idea or image of 兰舟 in my mind is one that calls up feelings of being adrift and alone. A small little leaf of a boat on a vast lake. ‘Boarding alone’ reinforces that lonely image but also adds a hint of wanting to be on their own. After all, they chose to come here (wherever ‘here’ is).
So then, with the decision that the second half of the sentence will be some variation of ‘boarding the magnolia-wood boat alone’, there were two options for the action with the clothing or skirt in the first part of that sentence.
Deftly remove the light summer silks
Lightly part the silk skirts
Actually, upon first reading the line without pleco or googling, the image in option 1 automatically came up in my mind. But then it came to a screeching halt when she boarded the boat! Knowing that the chill of Autumn is upon us, surely it wouldn’t make sense to be wearing only lightly woven silk clothing and then be disrobing at this time? It makes even less sense to be wearing something light on top of more weather appropriate ones and then taking it off later. And there could be an unspoken step in between 轻解罗裳 and 独上兰舟 of putting on clothes. But that’s just hmmm… unnecessarily complicated.
But 解 doesn’t always mean remove completely. You could just be in the middle of untying a knot partially undoing something or perhaps, by extension, ‘partially disrobing’ via lifting up your skirt. Option 2 was adopted for finally being a mental image I can fully support.
And so, amidst the lingering fragrance of fallen lotus flowers, in the Autumn chill, someone gently parts her fine silk skirts and boards a boat alone.
The next two lines are where you have to activate all your vibe receptors.
云中 / 谁 / 寄 / 锦书 / 来 within clouds / who / sends / letter for home / coming here
雁 / 字 / 回 / 时 // 月 / 满 / 西 / 楼 geese / word / return / time // moon / fills / west / building
(I’m doing these together because they are closely related)
If we follow the narration in this poem, everything after 独上兰舟 is happening in the boat. The speaker is looking up into the sky, where they may be seeing the wild geese setting off on their annual migration. As it is Autumn, this is the right season for birds to be setting off on their long haul flights. Supporting this is the next line which starts with ‘when the geese return in their word formations’ referring to the V (in English) or 人 (in Chinese) shape they tend to fall into when flying as a flock.
Note the word ‘when’ (i.e. x happens 时). This is an imagined situation.
Tumblr media
(Source)
Something I found out because I wondered why how birds could be flying when the moon is supposed to be out and vaguely to the West: Geese also continue their migratory flights at night to avoid predation and, to save energy, not be flying when there is turbulence in the air which occurs during the day where there are more thermals.
The 锦书, literally brocade letter, is a word derived from the story of the poet Su Hui, a poet of the Middle Sixteen Kingdoms period (304 to 439) during the Six Dynasties period. After a particularly fierce quarrel with the concubine her husband had brought back from his desert exile, she refused to leave with him to his new post in Xiangyang. Hence, when he finally went, he brought only his concubine along with him, leaving her behind as she had wanted. Soon after, she regretted the decision and embroidered a palindrome poem on silk brocade and sent it to him. This work consisted of over 840 words and could be read in many different ways and directions.
Tumblr media
(Source)
The piece impressed and touched him so much that he returned to fetch her with gifts. The term 锦书 has since been used to refer to beautiful letters, usually from wife to husband but sometimes the other way round as well, when they are apart.
The sight of geese in the sky would evoke thoughts of letters from someone far from home. Originating from the story of a loyal diplomat of Han who had been sent as an ambassador to the Xiongnu, and suffered much hardship for it. When it was time for him to return, the Chanyu (Leader of the Xiongnu) pretended he was already dead and refused. Years later, another envoy discovered that he and his men were still alive. To force the Chanyu to release them, someone made up a story that the Emperor of Han had killed a migratory goose while hunting, and that a letter from Su Wu seeking help was found on the bird's foot, whereupon they all got to return home. The association of swan-geese with letters, wandering, longing and hope has only gotten deeper since, and its imagery is used often in literature.
We even have a chengyu for it! 鸿雁传书 / roughly: the swan-goose delivers a letter.
A little note on architecture. Courtyard houses, also known as siheyuan were the traditional type of houses built with a specific layout. The rooms on the West were reserved for the ladies in a family, the East were for the sons and their wives. For a more detailed introduction, do check out this video! The relevant portion starts at about the three minute mark.
Just purely from the position, rooms and buildings in the West side of the house have a good view for sunset and the moon as well. A friend pointed this out, and I was like O.O oh yeah! So it does! Perfect place for ~romance~ and staring longingly out into the distance.
After boarding the boat, she looks up at the sky where there are geese setting off Southwards on their annual Autumn-Winter migration, wondering if she will receive a letter from her husband. She pictures it clearly in her mind’s eye, when they return after Winter, there will be a full moon shining down, and her world will be bright and it will be a time of reunion.
No vibes now. These are all feelings from here on xD
花 / 自 / 飘零 / 水 / 自 / 流 flowers / naturally | on their own / fall // water / naturally | on its own / flows
一 / 种 / 相思 // 两 / 处 // 闲愁  one / type (of) / longing between two (people) // two / places / vain woe
The original translation for the first line was 'flowers fall and rivers flow on, as is their nature', because I thought the line was saying that it is as unaffected and natural for a parted couple to miss each other dearly, helplessly. The pairing of falling flowers and running water has always been an imagery associated with vicissitudes, uncertainty and wandering adrift. And on top of that, falling flowers symbolize the passing of beautiful things, the passage of time, while flowing water is associated with unending sorrows, so these two very aptly express the depth of their feeling and their circumstances.
But I was halfway through doodling this line down when I realised 自 can also be read as ‘on one’s own’. Which means we could also interpret that as the speaker metaphorically comparing the falling flowers to herself and the flowing water to her husband. Even if falling flowers and flowing water allude to wandering unmoored, they are still together. But not anymore. Both are troubled by their separation, but because of this separation, they are feeling it alone. It is the same longing, but because it is in two hearts, two places, it is a sorrow that settles deep and is felt in vain. (yjtc: *mindblown*)
And why is it 闲愁?

There’s nothing that can be done to dispel the love that gives rise to the longing, the sorrow, no clever idea, no cunning scheme can trick it. It almost feels like it is everywhere, around her, within her. The pain may be smoothed from a tightly knit brow, but then it immediately rises in the heart.
Curious about this, on the way to the meetup location for team building on Wednesday, I did a silly little experiment on the bus: First I arranged a short playlist of five songs that never fail to hurt me in order of lightest to worst, then stared out of the window from a comfortable seat, and started to listen. When the words first caused me to tear up, my face scrunched up slightly, involuntarily and the feeling of wanting to cry came from the area of my eyes - obviously, I blinked it away xD Next, briefly, my throat sort of closed up. And finally, there was tightness around my chest and a stabbing feeling in my heart.
I did a quick google consult with Science and they tell me that ‘the link between sadness and physical pain such as heartache has been empirically proven’.
Conclusion: The poet has some excellent observation skills!
Jokes aside, I think it’s amazing that she expresses the killing blow in this poem with such simplicity.

Katsuki, Shut Up☾
✧B A K U G O U   K A T S U K I✧
genre: fluff
WORD COUNT:1103
Coming back to the dorms after a long day of training a nap was exactly what you needed. Thinking peace and quiet would fill the room Bakugou had different plans as he didn’t intend to have a nap. Getting frustrated you call him a name he does not like and he is not going to forgive you so easily. . .
Tumblr media
Your eyes started to droop as you were getting comfy in this bed.
This nap was exactly what you needed after a long day of training.
You were starting to fall asleep as you jumped up hearing a loud scream coming from the other side of the room.
Your eyes moved over to the figure sitting with a headset on yelling at the computer. A groan escaped your lips as you laid back down.
Once again you began falling asleep as another scream launched from the boys mouth. This time scaring you so much your heart rate began to pick up.
"Katsuki, please shut up," you said quietly covering your head and body with the heavy dark blue blanket placed on the bed.
Once more you started falling asleep having a nice dream.
The tiny ocean waves sitting the sand while the sun beamed brightly down onto you. Smiling at the view everything started to go black.
You took a deep breathe in trying to calm yourself down from the shock that woke you up from yourself.
The irritation in your body began rising as all you wanted was to have a good nap before completing more school work.
Taking your legs out from under the covers you swung them to hang off the bed. You started stomping to where bakugou was sitting.
Looking at him sitting in his chair while his eyes scanned the screen you yanked his headset off his head.
"Dude, I'm gonna tell you this one more time. Shut. The. Fuck. Up." You placed the headset down onto the table and started walking back towards the bed.
"Oi, what did you just say?" You heard him hiss behind you.
You turned around and stared at him. "Katsuki I said shut the fuck up. I'm trying to sleep while your dumbass keeps yelling at who knows what."
"No no that's not what you called me earlier. You called me dude." He said with a face that showed disgust.
"Bakugou I don't care as long as you just shut up and let me take this damn nap." Turning around once more you started heading towards the bed.
You felt fingers wrap around your wrist that tugged you a bit. Turning your head to see his face, "what?" You asked with attitude.
When he didn't answer you turned your whole body around and saw him just staring at the floor.
You were about to bring your hand up to his face to tilt it up as it began lifting it up by itself.
With a confused look on your face you saw a slight smirk on his. He bent down a little bit and wrapped his arms around your waist.
"Huh?" You mumbled quietly. The grip around your waist began to tighten as the seconds went by.
Your eyes widened as your body began to lift off the floor. One second you were on the floor the next your stomach laid onto Bakugou's stomach.
Half of your body touching his back while the other was on this front. "Babe let me down," you whined.
"Tch," was all you got back. Bakugou started walking towards the bed while still carrying you over his shoulder.
Before you knew it you felt a gush of wind hit your hit your face. Your back met the blanket covered bed as you bounced onto it.
"Uh what are you doing?"
Before you knew it bakugou hovered over you with now a big smirk on his face. Your eyes roamed around the room as his face started getting closer to his.
You felt soft lips peck your forehead lightly. The temperature in your cheeks began to rise at his sudden action.
Before you could say anything bakugou's fingers started tickle your stomach.
You started laughing like crazy and started swarming around.
"K-KATS~ ST-TOP," you kept being cut off by your own laughter.
"Say sorry," Bakugou said as he kept tickling you. You tried opening your mouth to speak once more but nothing but giggles came out.
Bakugou kept tickling you as your laughter made him laugh just a tiny bit.
He stopped tickling you for a bit looking down at you trying to catch your breath.
"Are you sorry now?" You gave him a confused look as to what he was talking but then remembered a second later.
"I'm sorry for telling you to shut the fuck up." You said mumbling a bit.
"Nope. That's not why you should be sorry, to be honest I could care less about that."
Once again giving him a even more confused look you started thinking.
"Wait why am I saying sorry then?" You questioning him.
"You called me dude. D-U-D-E. What the hell I'm not your 'bro' I'm your boyfriend!" He said in a whiny but grumpy voice.
Staring at him a bit you started bursting out laughing.
"HUH DUMBASS WHAT'S SO FUNNY?" He yelled.
"That's what made you tickle me?"
"Yes dumbass why would you call me dude," Bakugou answered in a childish whiny voice.
"Aw come here you big baby," you said while lifting up your arms wanted him to lay on top of you.
He grunted but then accepted the offer.
"I love you," you whispered in his ear.
Bakugou felt his cheeks reddened at the sudden affection you gave him.
"Tch I love you too dumbass." He whispered back.
Your arms that were on his waist tightened as you snuggled your head into his soft fluffy hair.
You felt his head cram itself into your neck making you giggle slightly. Taking a deep breathe in you could smell his shampoo.
You guys stayed like this for a couple of minutes before hearing a faint hello.
"Uh hello? Bakugou?" You lifted your head quickly making Bakugou groaned.
"Why did you do that?" He said in a raspy tired voice.
"Katsuki I heard someone say hello, but there isn't anyone else in the room."
Bakugou's eyes widened as he realized he never turned off his game.
"Shit," he breathed out.
Staying on the bed you saw him heading over back to his desk placing the headset back on.
"Oi shitty hair what?"
"Bakugou~ who knew you were such a softie hm?"
"Tch shut up I have no idea what you're talking about."
"Oh really? Cause Kaminari and I heard everything. You little softie getting mad that you got called dude," Kirishima said in a teasing tone.
"SHUT UP!"
"Babe who are you talking to," you said approaching him from behind.
"Hm no one just some idiots." After that he shut down his PC and took off the headset.
Standing behind his chair you watched as he walked to his bed and plopped onto it. He held out his arms as you once did before.
"Are we taking a nap or what?"
