love is a curse

my piece for @morphogenzine. i wanted to explore feelings of isolation, the relationship between physical space and memory, and how they play a part in Kyle's life. growing up in the same rooms in the same building all his life and feeling alone, that all being changed one day by the happiness of spending time with people he loves, and how those memories can then make those same rooms feel emptier than they ever were before once that happiness is gone

K barely had any human contact before he met you

he grew up sheltered and had barely felt any sort of emotions, until you came into his life

you were working together with his father and he didn't get to see much of you, but what he saw was already enough for him

he fell for you fast AND hard!

you always smiled at him when you walked by and the way you said his name, kyle, made his heart melt

you weren't around very often, mostly just staying for a few days every couple months, but K was determined to make the most out of that time with you!

he tried to talk to you whenever he could, spend every second near you…

seeing you leave for months always broke his heart, but he had never been happier than when you came back to him!

K was in love with you for years, loving you more than he had ever loved or ever will love anyone else

though after a few years, he also started to realize something

during all this time he spent loving you, he barely even knew you…
