when jaehyun was told you would be a guest MC with him at mcountdown, he was elated. the boy was basically bouncing out of his seat and thanking the lord for hanbin and sohee having schedules.

you two had only stopped to say quick and polite greetings to one another at the hybe building elevator, but that was the extent of your interactions. jaehyun was really curious about you. partly because you debuted around the same time as boynextdoor, but mainly because he found you extremely talented (and beautiful) and wanted to get to know you better.

you had just reached your greenroom when jaehyun came bouncing up to you like a puppy to start talking to you.

"hi y/n, how are you today? it's nice to see you again and work with you today!"

jaehyun was barely hiding his excitement, making you laugh softly at how enthusiastic he was.

"it's nice to see you jaehyun, and i'm doing well. i'm excited to be able to work with you today!"

you shot him a bright smile and were quickly ushered away by your manager and makeup artist before you could even ask how jaehyun was doing in return. not that jaehyun minded. he was just glad he got to talk to you.

you and your makeup artist were basically like sisters. it was no secret to her that you found jaehyun cute and funny, leading to tons of teasing the moment you found out you'd be doing daechinso live and mcountdown hosting with him.

"don't make your cute little crush obvious on live, but just be yourself. you'll do great. this is a good experience for you"

she said earnestly, giving you a gentle side hug while you nodded and went to the couch with jaehyun and the other staff for daechinso live.

you and jaehyun exchanged glances and smiles before turning your attention to the staff who told you what to do.

"it's all simple stuff. we just talk casually together with the guest. you'll do great"

jaehyun shot you a sweet smile back in response to your nervous one, patting your shoulder lightly to calm your nerves.

"i don't know why i'm so nervous. i watch daechinso live all the time"

you admitted as you took deep breaths to calm down. for being an idol, you were still very nervous on camera and with other people. jaehyun perked up at the mention of you watching live often.

"you do? why haven't you ever guest starred on it?"

he asked and you shrugged.

"i haven't gone on mcountdown with my other members in a while so i haven't had an excuse to come down"

jaehyun nodded in understanding before the corners of his lips curved up into a small smile.

"what should our unit name be?"

you turned to him in surprise. unit names were mainly for idols who were already super close. the two of you being in the same company didn't necessarily mean you guys were close, so you were confused. seeing your surprise, jaehyun backtracked and rushed to explain what he meant.

"the unit name for me, hanbin, and sohee is shine meongddocat. since we're hosting, we need a unit name for us"

he explained hastily and started second guessing his, what he thought was risky, question in his attempt to get closer to you. you let out a small "ohh" of realization and smiled. you glanced at the array of costumes on the table you and jaehyun would have to wear during the live.

"if we wear these we can be tanghulu"

you joked as you held out a strawberry hat to him. jaehyun laughed and put it on while you put on a matching strawberry hat.

tons of different idols walked by and you tried to hide the fact that you were so amazed at seeing all of them. unbeknownst to you, jaehyun smiled at the way your eyes lit up when seeing idols you both looked up to since you were kids. it seemed unreal to jaehyun at first too. you two had only been dreaming to get to where they were, and now you were finally here.

"who are we having with us today?”

you whispered to jaehyun while the staff got ready to start the live.

"i don't know. it's a surprise to us too"

jaehyun laughed and shrugged, sitting close to you in case you guys had to squeeze a lot of people on the couch.

suddenly, bang chan, han, felix, and seungmin of stray kids walked in and introduced themselves. upon seeing them, you and jaehyun bowed over and over together in unison until they laughed and told you two it was okay. it was even more embarrassing when you guys remembered you two were dressed as strawberries bowing profusely.

the live started and showed the five of you standing up around the little coffee table and the couch, introducing yourselves.

before sitting down, jaehyun subtly nudged you to sit on the end of the couch rather than be squished between everyone. a soft smile spread to the corners of your lips, grateful for how considerate jaehyun was.

the six of you went back and forth, exchanging comments and jokes about your careers, experiences, and just overall having fun. jaehyun noticed you fiddling with the flip sequin pillow, unconsciously swiping back and forth between his face and the normal design. he thought it was endearing how you were so nervous playing with the pillow.

“so, i heard you’re a main rapper and a main vocalist, is that right?”

chan asked you two and you both nodded in fear, knowing where this was going. felix let out small laughs when he saw your guys’ faces.

“i think we should do freestyle rapping between you two. i’ve seen you rap before. i’m confident you can rap better than our jisung”

chan said mischievously as he gestured between han and jaehyun. you froze and looked at jaehyun as he looked at han in pure adoration and fear, shaking his head in refusal to chan’s comment. this was NOT part of the script but jaehyun was so awestruck he didn’t care.

“okay staff-nim drop the beat”

jaehyun summoned his swagginess and put on a pair of sunglasses. he looked ridiculously adorable as a strawberry with sunglasses on but he still ate regardless.

“i think he lost”

seungmin laughed, gesturing to his own member who looked betrayed while the rest of his members agreed. again, jaehyun adamantly refused to accept his supposed win and bowed repeatedly to han.

“and for miss main vocal, pick a song and seungmin will duet with you. i get a lot of comments on instagram live saying they want to see you two specifically duet”

felix added and you thought for a moment.

“should we sing jungkook’s standing next to you?

you glanced back and forth between seungmin and jaehyun, who had a wide smile on his face at the mention of his role model’s song. seungmin nodded and the staff started the music, jaehyun adding adlibs every now and then.

you and seungmin duetted, singing all the high notes together to showcase your guys’ vocals. you watched the others on the couch whistle and smile at how well you both did harmonizing together. jaehyun did the dance for standing next to you while you guys sang.

“that was great, as expected from two amazing vocalists”

jaehyun praised and clapped as did the other members who especially praised your vocals on such a hard song.

you continued to talk to the members about their fanbase, knowing how much most idols loved their fans to death. you yourself would know because you’d be nothing without fans.

in the middle of talking, you felt jaehyun silently lay a blanket over your lap as custom to cover your legs from the camera. though you couldn't show it, you were really happy jaehyun thought of the little things he could do to make you feel comfortable.

after live was over, you both chatted with everyone a little bit more before they had to go back to the greenroom. when they left, you and jaehyun smiled at each other, high fiving to celebrate your first successful live on mcountdown.

"thank you for everything today jaehyun. you helped me get through everything and you were so kind the entire way"

you thanked him earnestly. jaehyun smiled softly and waved his hands in denial.

"it was all you and your personality that made everything work. take some credit"

he praised and you blushed with a happy smile. you were surprised the live went so well, and you knew it was mostly thanks to jaehyun. nevertheless, you loved how he was so humble and sweet towards you.

"so are we meeting up later?"

he suddenly asked as you stood up to go back to the green room.

"are we?"

you were genuinely confused, sitting back down to talk. you hadn't made any plans with jaehyun that you remembered. jaehyun's eyes widened as he internally smacked himself over and over for forgetting.

"i'm so sorry i always go out to get food with hanbin and sohee after live"

he apologized profusely, which you thought was adorable.

you asked as your makeup artist touched up your makeup and she paused, thinking for a moment.

"i think it's okay. just don't be too close with him to the public eye"

she warned and you nodded, practically beaming at the thought of you getting to go out and eat with jaehyun. you had such a good time doing live that you just knew it would be an even better time as normal people just talking.

you decided on a pasta place with a private booth so you and jaehyun could eat comfortably without being seen or suspected by other people.

"how am i even supposed to contact him when i didn't get his number"

you groaned and tossed your phone on the couch. you glanced at your greenroom's TV and saw jaehyun smiling widely while talking to onedoors. you found yourself smiling along with him. jaehyun's smile is just that contagious.

as if your complaints were heard, a knock on your door caused you to eagerly jump up to go answer it.

"hey, i just finished recording"

jaehyun said with his usual wide smile. you laughed and invited him in to your greenroom so you could show him the place you found.

"i was craving pasta so i hope what i chose was okay"

you laughed nervously as you pulled the place up on your phone. jaehyun nodded furiously in reassurance, eliciting soft laughs from you seeing how silly he was.

"there's a private booth here so no one could suddenly recognize us"

jaehyun nodded and texted his manager.

"we can go together since we just did live. ready?"

you smiled and nodded, accepting his hand which pulled you up and out the door.

you two thankfully escaped through the back door so that fans weren't swarming and crowding around you guys, safely getting in the car and going to the place.

you and jaehyun sat in your respective seats, taking a nap together because doing live and recordings sucked so much energy out of you two. the manager had to darken the windows because it would be a little chaotic if people saw you and jaehyun leaning on each other to sleep.

jaehyun woke up as the car slowed down and saw you sleeping on his shoulder. he couldn't smile or show how happy he was since the manager was watching. he was afraid that the manager would prevent you guys from seeing each other if he knew about jaehyun's little crush.

jaehyun gushed, basking in the smell of pasta and bread from outside the door separating you from the rest of the restaurant. you giggled at how jaehyun’s stomach slightly rumbled, as did yours.

“so, how did you like doing live on mcountdown?”

jaehyun asked as he slowly started picking at his food, wanting to prolong your guys’ little dinner date for as long as he could without coming off as suspicious.

“it was really fun! i’ve liked stray kids for such a long time, and i’m happy you were so kind and energetic the entire time”

you said happily, making jaehyun smile and nod.

“i always see you in the elevator and you always came off as so shy, so i didn’t expect you to be so expressive on live today”

jaehyun admitted and you burst out laughing, making him pause abruptly when going to pick up a piece of bread.

“that was because of you! it felt like a dream seeing one of my seniors in the elevator with me so i was kind of shy when talking to you. not to mention you’re always talking to leehan when we’re there”

you giggled and jaehyun’s jaw dropped, forgetting about the piece of bread he just dropped on his plate.

“please don’t be shy. let’s get closer and talk more instead of leaving it up to seeing each other briefly in the elevator. i really want to get to know you”

jaehyun insisted, holding his pinky out to you. you wrapped yours around his, smiling softly in the process. you didn’t miss the hopeful glimmer in his eyes when you did.

jaehyun deadpanned, making you laugh as you two continued eating. it was a comfortable night of eating with your little crush and getting to know each other better. jaehyun really was as sweet as he came off today, and he thought your personality was even lovelier than the fleeting glances of you he saw in the elevator.

and the “him” she was referring to was lee hesseung. tall, gorgeous, great smile, and extremely funny. also the biggest man-whore in the fraternity, but he and everyone knows that.

you sighed, taking a sip from your red cup of disgusting alcohol. ni-ki was the worst at bartending drinks and you make note to tease that to him later.

you look up to see heeseung across the room talking to another frat brother, park sunghoon.

thanks to ni-ki, (the nickname you gave him and he just started letting everyone else call him that), you knew almost all his frat brothers in chi omicron. the ones you were most familiar with was, lee heeseung, park jay, sim jake, park sunghoon, kim sunoo, yang jungwon, and ni-ki himself. while the first four were in their third year of college like yourself, sunoo and jungwon were in their second year, ni-ki his first.

you’ve known ni-ki since you were younger simply because his older sister and you were on the same cheer team growing up and he became a baby brother to you as you were the only child. while his older sister went to a different country for college, you stayed back, and soon learned ni-ki would be following.

"me too, what's with this outfit?" he looked down but shyly looked up. you giggled, finally noticing that he saw you in this fit.

"oh this? i recently bought it. does it look good?" you struck a pose but this only caused jiwoong to be more red in the face.

"i-it looks great on you, amazing, perfect. i have no words." you playfully hit his shoulder in response to his words

"i know you love it! it's cute seeing you like this!"

"ok ok. but now that i've seen you in this, is it cool if we can go to the bedroom?"

"JIWOONG!"

so hao wasn't really expecting much, he came back from a hefty flight as zb1 were performing in another country for an event

however!! he got to head to your place when it was near midnight, he just felt better sleeping in your arms rather than at the dorm. you were chill with him coming too!

he knew he'd sleep better with you beside him :)

cue to hao entering the apartment where it was completely dark inside. his feet naturally led him to your room where he slowly opened the door to reveal your body covered up in your huge blanket as you were fast asleep

hao immediately smiled, you were the cutest thing to him. he made his way to the other side of the bed where he hopped in and wrapped his arms around you like he always does

but...it felt different this time. he didn't feel any fabric. hao then steadily lifted up the blanket to reveal you in just your undergarments.

when i tell you he almost lost his shit, he really did. right away he felt his body begin heating up and he resisted the urge to wake you up

"am i dreaming?" he thought. but nope, it was real. he cursed at his flight for taking so long since he could've seen you in it before you fell asleep

"you look so stunning..." he mumbled, gently manuvering his hands around your figure and then leaving a kiss on your shoulder.

he then wondered, was this a surprise for him? it was rare that he got to see you like this so he was cherishing the moment

"i love you so much my love. i won't disturb your sleep." he ended with then covering himself with the sheets and spooning you in his arms

though the next morning would be incredibly different

it was your birthday and you had came back from work, you somehow forgot it was your birthday and jumped when confetti fell on you as the door opened.

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!" hanbin exclaimed, then coming to kiss your cheek

"thank you babe...i completely forgot." you smiled, he giggled then led you to the living room where you both sat down. "glad i could help you remember!" hanbin couldn't say it earlier since he was already out the door when you awoke this morning

"this is for you!" a present box now rested on your lap as you looked down. it was wrapped perfectly with your favorite colors

"what is this?" you noticed the shape of it was a square and that it wasn't too big but not too small.

"your gift. open it!" you ripped the wrapping open (which you felt bad for) to reveal a box inside that hid the item underneath it. as you pulled the top off, your eyes widened to reveal a piece of lingerie.

"h-hanbin what..." you held it in your hands and there wasn't much material, it was clearly meant to be revealing.

"i thought it would look great on you." he complimented. you suggested trying it on and hanbin wasn't going to stop you but asked if you were sure you wanted to. you agreed and left to change in the bedroom.

as hanbin anticipated the reveal, the door opened and you shyly came out in the small material. trying to look confident as you walked towards him. "what do you think?"

hanbin was speechless as his mouth was left wide open. he tried to make out words to say but none of it could as he took in how beautiful you looked. without saying anything, he got closer to you and wrapped his arms around your body then kissing you on the lips.

"you always know how to blow me away. i have no words to describe how amazing you look." his words melted you as you sunk your face into his chest, "thank you bin.."

you saw someone on tiktok come into their significant other's room with revealing clothing on while they're busy doing something and that got you curious.. how would your boyfriend matthew react to that?

so to answer that question you decide to buy the most revealing thing you found online and surprise matthew with it

it happened to be like any other day but matthew had his day off and came to visit you. he was watching youtube, totally oblivious to what you were about to pull

the clothing was definitely something, way too revealing but you knew matthew would be over the moon seeing u in it

as you stood outside the room with only a door separating you two, you felt your heart beat increase but nonetheless stood confidently

and then...baam! the door opens to matthew on the bed while being completely absorbed into his phone screen

"hey matt~" you sang. he looked up, "yeah what's up-" then paused.

nothing was said in that moment as he was in disbelief while staring at you, now mesmerized

"is it a special event today?" he barely let out. you giggled then shook your head, "nope! just wanted to surprise you. what do you think?" you twirled around in it, even giving him a view from behind.

he put his hand over his heart, feeling his heart beating rapidly. "you really know how to make me go insane don't you?" he got closer to place a kiss on your lips

"i hope it's a good type of insane." you smirked. with his hands now holding yours, he guided you to the bed and you laid under him as he hovered over top of you

"well, it's not like i'll be able to see this everyday so i will enjoy ever chance i get." was the last thing he said before shutting the door, making you realize what would happen behind closed doors in this sweet setting.

kim taerae

"it's not that bad taerae c'mon!" you exclaimed. though taerae begged to differ as he was trying to tug you away from the store

"no! let's go somewhere else, this is..." he couldn't finish his sentence and just sighed with his hands still holding onto the cuffs of your jacket.

“what?… don’t tell me you’re shy to go into a victoria’s secret!” despite him denying it, taerae turning around to hide his flushed cheeks gave it away.

“n-no! well, i’ve never been in one before!” you pulled taerae inside and began walking around the crowded area

just then, a pink set of lingerie caught your eye and you rushed to the mannequin displaying it in it’s full glory

“oh this is so cute! should i get it?” you asked your boyfriend who was taking glances around the place while trying to hide behind displays

“huh? oh yeah looks nice.” you sighed and dragged taerae to where the fitting rooms were and told him to stay there while you changed to try it on

taerae began playing with his fingers as the waiting game began until you came out. however he was thrilled at the thought of seeing you in such clothing that barely covered up anything.

“love? how is it?” he asked though the door was blocking your view of him. you giggled, “it’s great! look!” you then opened the door ajar.

taerae’s eyes widen in panic as he quickly covered the space that someone could see you from. his heart then began pounding as he saw your figure wearing what was previously displayed. it was perfect, he thought.

“wow…” with more confidence taerae walked into the fitting room though you protested and told him not to.

“you look great, you shine in it.” you looked in the mirror once again, striking a few poses

“you think?” he nodded and hugged you from behind as he held your hands

“hundred percent, i would love to see you in this more.” his hands gently caressed your sides

even then your body began to heat up, “w-well…i’ll buy it then. but you need to get out! someone will know were both in here!”

he smirked, “i don’t mind that.”

shen ricky

you just came back from a long but fun day of shopping with your friends. your arms were sore from holding all the bags with clothing inside

you told ricky you wanted to go shopping so he basically handed you his card and told you to go for it. he always joked that it was unlimited and you could buy anything so that's exactly what you did

luckily for you ricky was at home watching some tv when you arrived

"ricky, i'm home!" he helped you with the bags and put them down in the living room

he noticed the one bag that stood out from the rest, it wasn’t too big as it had only one item inside

“hm, what's this?” he picked it up and looked inside to see an unexpected item. needless to say, you had never seen ricky’s eyes widen that big before ever

“oh that? it’s just something that caught my eye while i was shopping!” you explained then pulling it out of the bag to reveal the small piece of clothing

ricky couldn’t believe it and asked if he could see it so you handed it to him and the man was in awe

as his eyes went up and down, he got closer to you and handed it back, “can i see it on you…please?”

you giggled, “only because you asked nicely.” then left the room leaving ricky to wait on the sofa. but it didn’t take long until you came out in front of him

ricky was living for you in this as his eyes lit up immediately

“you look great!” he exclaimed, now getting up to pull you into his warm embrace

“you really think so?” you gazed at the piece on you. it definitely wasn’t okay to wear in public but ricky was living for it

gyuvin was on tour and that left you all alone for the past whole month. this was just the start as this was a world tour that was going to be for months! though you were insanely proud of your boyfriend’s achievements, you really missed his presence in the house and wanted to surprise him

as you scavenged through your closet, you managed to find a piece of clothing that was extremely tight and revealing, very scandalous, but you loved it! as you tried it on, it still hugged your body warmly

you knew gyuvin was in his hotel since he’d tell you almost everything of what was happening, and so you opened your phone to facetime your bambi bf

with only one ring he answered where you saw him laying in bed, turned on his side as if he’d just gotten to rest

“hi gyu!” you opened with. from the angle you were sitting in, he couldn’t tell what you were wearing yet.

“hi! what are you up to?” you two conversed for a bit with just a conversation about your day and whatnot. you were waiting for the right time to reveal it and just as his hotel roommate left the room, you decided to hatch your plan

“hey gyu, look.” you switched the angle to now be fully showing your body and you swore that gyuvin nearly fell off that damn bed

“WHAT ARE YOU WEARING?!” he yelled through the phone, loud enough to turn down your volume

“oh this? i dunno i was bored and found it in my closet. i wanted to show you it since you deserve a gift after working so hard.”

“yeah, it is a great gift…UGH NOW MY CHEEKS ARE ALL RED BECAUSE OF YOU!” he shouted. you could now hear someone telling him to be quiet on the other end causing you to giggle

“well have a good rest yeah?” your fingers formed to create a heart shape to which he did the same back, “i don’t think i will after seeing that. it’ll be all i think about.”

“i’ll always be here if you want to see it again.” you joked. “i will definitely bother you for it again, but not now since i’m too tired. goodbye luv!” he waved to you.

a/n: i’m soz it’s so short! i was v busy and had little time to write more. i will be making plenty more parts, rest assured! tysm to my fave anon for the req 🫶

after the first elimination, the air was tense. you could glance around the room and see everyones heads hanging low, losing motivation to work. reluctantly, mnet decided to give them a day out. visit family, walk your dog, run away to another country while you still have the chance, the choice was theirs! some trainees decided to see their significant others, only to find out their first picks!! spoilers: it wasnt them 😔

Sung Hanbin

the moment the boy left the building, he began giggling. he quickly dialed your number, giving it a ring.

“hello? who is this?”

“psst! it’s your #1 boys planet pick..” he whispered with a goofy smile, his hand up to the speaker of the device as if he was talking on a walkie-talkie

“kim jiwoong? how’d you get my number?!” your innocent joke made hanbins smile drop, losing all the childish love-drunk emotions as before. “nevermind. i was planning to surprise you with dinner but you should just go with jiwoong.” though you couldnt see him, you already knew the face he was making. to a *tea*. with his tongue stuck out, following by a whiny pout that you couldn’t help but gush over.

“baby, you know i was playing. come over!”

hanbin narrowed his eyes, his pout getting replaced by a thin line. “is he actually your first though?”

“well… that’s-“

you were immediately left with the call hanging up, making you groan. you held you phone away from you, counting to 5 with your other hand before you felt a familiar vibration.

“why didn’t you call me back to beg for a second chance?”

“i didnt have to.”

“just like you didnt have to vote for me?”

you sighed out, sending an unimpressed face through the screen (that hanbin definitely picked up on!) and clicked your tongue.

“sung hanbin. you’re over 70 countries first pick!”

“i don’t want 70 countries, i want you~“

you sighed at his comment, laughing lightheartedly before cracking another joke (he seems not to appreciate your humor these days!)

“what so if you ranked second but i was voting for you, you’d be okay?”

neither of you were particularly good at lying. often times it was great for communication! but a lot of times, it means petty back-and-forth’s like this.

“baby, i am voting for you. but the app makes you vote 6 people”

“blocking you as we speak..” he whined, very unsatisfied with your response. you began softly mumbling ‘nooooo!’

“okay okay! you can take his place as my first pick.”

“…and you have to stop voting him!”

hanbin scoffed, pulling the phone from his ear yet again. “beep beep beep!”

“okayyyy!! i’ll stop voting for kim jiwoong.”

he smiled, now suddenly going back to his gushy nature. “if you say so~ you excited to see me?”

you were happy to have your puppy-like boyfriend back, humming a response.

“so excited! were are going?”

Kum Junhyeon

when you heard a knock at the door, you curiously looked through the peephole. who would show up at this hour? you swore you didn’t have any packages. your eyes light up, immediately opening up the door and embracing an exhausted hyeon.

“how did you get here?” was the first question you managed, running your fingers through his hair. he muttered something about an off day and you chose not to question it.

“youre just in time, i was just getting around to voting” you hummed, gesturing to the couch where the mnet app was open. you began your routine you’ve been doing since the voting first opened, scrolling through the trainees clearly on a mission to find someone specific. junhyeon peered from behind your shoulder, smiling at how cute you looked as you proudly voted for your boyfriend.

“wait! i was right there” he pointed to his name, chuckling at the way you began scrolling back over to his name. his smile faded quickly though, watching as you clicked gyuvins name and scrolled past. he then chuckled at you again, shaking his head before resting it on your shoulder. “kum. not kim you goof”

he felt your shoulder tense, making him smile at the way you sheepishly went back to his name, voting him instead of replacing gyuvin. junhyeon tilted his head unsuspectingly. “did you mean to vote gyuvin too?”

“i uh.. actually forgot to vote for you.. but its just-”

“do you not vote for me?” his eyebrows furrowed, raising his head off your shoulder suspiciously.

“well no! its just, i was just trying to get gyu-“

“so gyuvin is your first pick??”

you stammered, unsure of how to respond. junhyeon pouted, shaking your shoulders in an attempt to get a word out of you.

“well he’s cute!”

“am i not?”

“you’re.. getting there” you pinched his cheek, making him tilt his head in confusion.

“getting there?”

you began mocking his “junhyeon is fiveeeee” making jun look at you with 😐

“so im cringey and gyuvin is really cute?”

“….”

junhyeon grabbed your phone from you, resetting the vote and picking himself. he furrowed his eyebrows in confusion, pointing the phone at you. “why cant i submit?” you attempted to grab the phone only to have him yank it away from you.

“you have to vote 6! not just you.”

you watched as he began randomly clicking trainees, submitting it for you before you could argue. you could only sigh, gently taking his hand in yours.

“nice to see again you too i guess.”

Park Gunwook

after planning a meetup, you decided on a cute park to waltz around in. gunwook had showed up first, kicking rocks while scanning the area every so often for you. the moment gunwook locked his eyes on you, he wrapped an arm around your shoulder with a grin.

“miss me?”

“of course i did! ive been watching just for you, i’m proud of you so far” you kissed his cheek, making gunwook do that smug grin he always does. that was all the push he needed to keep working hard. the image of you watching him excitedly and reacted at everything he said made gunwook giddy, already ready for his next mission to impress you more.

as the two of you continued walking, gunwook suddenly looked to you with a sympathetic pout. “you know, i kinda feel bad for you.”

you wordlessly tilted your head, wanting to hear an elaboration.

“it must be so boring watching each episode when there‘s nobody that even compares to me” he sighed out dramatically, looking off into the distance as if he was saying it to some hidden camera. you laughed, hitting his shoulder lightly. gunwook doesn’t relent, staying in character effortlessly as he continued what he was doing.

“am i right?”

“not really. there’s matthew.”

gunwook stopped what he was doing, sending you flying backwards with the sudden halt. he then sat in silence, trying to process this new information.

“oh.. matthew…. yeah him…” he pretended to ponder this for a second, his eyes looking up as he slowly nodded. what he was thinking of exactly, you weren’t sure. he then shrugged in an attempt at nonchalance.

“that kid-“

“he’s older than you..”

“that adult, is like, really weak. i beat him in arm wrestling easily” he continued, flexing his arm to further show off.

“that’s not why i like him babe.”

“it’s not??” his eyebrows furrowed in confusion. not in a condescending manner, gunwook was genuinely confused as to how that has nothing to do with matthews appeal. you laugh, shaking your head softly.

“then why??”

you began to mimic the iconic ‘i love you, i want you, seok matthew’ hand gesture only for gunwook to start groaning in annoyance. he waved his hand, an ‘oh please’ expression. he then did his signature salute, shaking his hand dramatically as a reference to when his hand had a tremor from nervousness. you hit his shoulder, laughing lightheartedly.

“baby. i mean he’s cute.”

“well.. i *am* younger than him..” he says, twisting your words on you. gunwook began raising his hands, but before he could even raise them above his chest you gently held them with your own, stopping whatever aegyo he was about to do.

“you are plenty cute gunwook.” his eyes furrowed, clearly unsatisfied.

“if i’m stronger, and cuter than him. then why aren’t i your favorite??”

“who said anything about favorites?” you asked him with a pout.

“well is he?”

“…”

“see!” he whined, dramatically walking off with small stomps.

you followed up after him, giving him a free teasing pokes to his arm. “is my baby jealous??”

“am not!”

“yuh-huh!” you teased further, making him scoff at even the idea of being jealous.

“let me show you how… how.. unbothered i an by this!”

he then grabbed your hand (in a *totally* non jealous way!) and dragged you with him as you continued to waltz around the park.

“it’s okay gunwook~ he may be my favorite trainee but there’s no replacing you!”

“there better not be.” he mumbled, giving you a slight side eye. he then paused, turning around to face you and before pointing at your face.

“…. but i’m not jealous!”

Lee Seunghwan

you had decided to wait for him outside of the building, the butterflies you had forgotten about creeping up onto you when you finally saw him again. his eyes lit up, quickly embracing you as if the world was gonna crash any second. you kissed both his cheeks, smiling at his usual clingy behavior.

“you’ve been having fun?” seunghwan pouts, shaking his head quickly.

“oh baby it’s terrible, only you could fix the stress i have right now” he slyly wrapped his arm around your waist. you sighed, but did nothing to stop his roaming hands. seunghwan buried himself in your neck, trailing soft love bites all over your neck and collar bone.

“really? in public hwan?”

he let out a bitter laugh. “after those trainees, i need some stress relief.”

you clicked your tongue, gently combing through his hair.

“you mean daeul and junhyeon?”

“you’ve been watching??” he looks up at you, a shocked expression. you could only nod at him, continuing your soothing motion with your hands. “i actually really like them! especially daeul.”

seunghwan narrowed his eyes at you, looking at you hesitantly. he was quite offended honestly! how could you like daeul after the side eyes he sent the boys way..

“what? more than me?” you sat there and thought about it, which only offended your boyfriend further. “i was joking babe.”

“shh! i’m thinking!” he rolled his eyes, taking your hand off his scalp. he mouthed dramatically ‘WERE. OVEERRRR’ making you click your tongue again.

“babe! it’s not that big of a deal”

“it is though, cause what do you mean you can’t pick between your *boyfriend*… and daeul” you stammered, trying to defend yourself

“well he’s just cute!”

“can he sing as well as me?”

“well no but-“

“can he dance as well as me?”

“i mean no..”

“can he rap as well as me?”

“… no…”

“and is he better looking than i am?” seunghwan finished, an expecting look. you pouted, shaking your head slowly. he joined you, shaking his head much faster than you.

“so why is it a hard choice?”

you stuttered again, avoiding eye contact. “you’re just jealous!”

he gently grabbed onto your waist again, bringing you closer. “yes. i am. im not sharing you with anyone else. not even hanbin” he said, *finally* walking you away from the entrance of the building. you continued to bicker with him, punching him on the arm at one point. he stuck his tongue out, not even able to blow a raspberry before you touched the tip of your tongues together jokingly. his grip your waist tightened, with his eyebrows furrowing.

“i’ll *show* you why i’m better than lee daeul.”

ع˖⁺𖤐ミ KIM JIWOONG - your circumstances were not favorable.

the two of you met at a wedding. you were both at the age where people around you began getting married, so it wasn’t surprising when jiwoong found himself with yet another invitation to a wedding. of course, he had to attend. who didn’t attend their friends’ weddings?

it was one of the best choices of his life, for it was where he met you, a friend from the other side of the wedding.

he had seen you first at the ceremony, sitting beside you as the seating arrangement had told him. it seemed they wanted to integrate both sides instead of separating them. that way, it would have been less awkward getting to know people to make the whole experience more comfortable.

and they were right. sitting next to you had let him know more about you, even if you didn’t speak. the way you cried for your friend and stood to clap showed how kind you were. you were someone he wanted to get close to in a sea of people he did not know.

you two hit it off like old friends at the reception, sharing life stories about what you knew about the newlyweds. you talked for what seemed like eons, only pausing momentarily to eat your food. jiwoong knew you two had hit it off perfectly, and he wanted to get to know you more outside of the wedding setting.

alas, he found out that was not possible during your dance. “oh how i wish i could stay here for longer,” you briskly murmured.

“hm?” he asked as he held onto your waist.

“i’m not from here,” you admitted, “i flew out here for my friend’s wedding and i ought to be going back home soon. thank you for making this day wonderful though, jiwoong. i was very afraid of being in a foreign country where i didn’t know anyone. you made my stay very enjoyable.”

there was nothing he could do but accept it was not meant to be. “it was my pleasure.”

ع˖⁺𖤐ミ ZHANG HAO - you both could not commit to it.

although you loved each other dearly, there were some things that were never meant to work out.

the first time such feelings were unveiled was upon your university graduation. so many people throughout the years had confessed their feelings to him and been rejected, but you felt if you never tried, you would have regretted it for the rest of your life.

the circumstance was a surprise to both of you. hao never thought he would actually utter anything other than a rejection. he was far too focused on other things to be caught up in a relationship, but you were the only one he could actually see himself with.

“let’s wait it out until we are both more free for each other.”

he didn’t anticipate the waiting to be long, a couple weeks or maybe even a few months at most. however, it had been about seven months since. hao had been busy, but so have you. you hadn’t texted him wondering about what he mentioned during your graduation.

after thinking about it more, he began to see less for the two of you in the future. he was far too busy to make time for you, so why would he give the worst of himself to you? he didn’t want to show you that part of him, the part that didn’t have time for you. when accepting your confession, he only wanted to give you his best.

so that’s why he called you to explain himself, exactly why he knew it wouldn’t work out between you two.

“i’m glad you told me. admittedly, i don’t haven’t the time to think about this much either, but you made great points. if we want to love each other, we should wait until we have the time to do so. i can’t commit either, so i think this is for the better.”

“i’m glad you understand.”

“thanks for being a wonderful-almost boyfriend.”

“same goes to you.”

ع˖⁺𖤐ミ SUNG HANBIN - he wanted to see his friend happy.

when you approached hanbin, he really thought it would be his chance. he had been in love with you for times he could not even count, and this could have been the time where he found out you felt the same way. well, he was wrong.

“hanbin, could you…help me get with your friend?”

oh it was what he feared would happen. his friend had spoken about you countless times before, proclaiming their interest in you, not knowing that he felt the same way about you. though, for the sake of the friend, hanbin continued to listen. sometimes he did feel bad that he wished everything would be more in his favor, but now that he knew they were not, he could not refuse your request.

“sure, i can do that.”

after all, why ruin his friend’s happiness just because the one he liked didn’t like him back?

it was a series of long weeks for hanbin, all of them filled with assisting you and his friend in realizing the two of you reciprocated the same feelings. many planned “random” run-ins. many nights of coaching you about the things his friend liked. many conversations to his friend where he dropped your name.

and when he received that text from you, a picture of you and his friend enjoying a picnic at the local park, he knew he had accomplished what he started. however, he didn’t have the energy to even respond to your text to congratulate the two of you on your relationship.

although he was happy for both you and his friend, there would always be a knot in his heart, a knot screaming “what if.”

matthew’s love for you started long before he knew what love was, when you first became friends in preschool, vowing to marry each other when you two grew up because of how compatible the two of you were.

of course, it was just a proclamation from preschoolers who talked way too much for how small mouths were. it was something most people wouldn’t remember. after all, the first few years were often blocked out by the brain, many barely even able to remember their first friend, their first partner in crime.

not matthew though. because you had been around him all his life, he could never forget the small things you did. he noticed far too much for a young boy who had a short attention span. he didn’t understand why he remembered all of it too well until he understood he had always been in love with you.

you, however, did not seem to remember anything from that time, let alone the silly pact you made. matthew never brought it up though since if it wasn’t that important for you to remember, it was probably not something serious. he was probably not as serious to you as you were to him. he knew you only ever saw him as a friend.

even then, somehow he thought your perspective would be different.

“hey look, it’s us when we were in preschool,” you commented upon entering his home, picking up the framed picture from the living room table that was littered with several pictures.

“yeah, we just clicked then and always have been together since.”

“remember when we made that pact to marry each other when we grew older?” you pondered.

his heart dropped. so you did remember? it was important to you?

he only nodded his head in response.

“we were such dumb kids then. you can’t just marry someone because they’re like you. it would be so weird dating someone you’ve known all your life, not to mention marrying them.”

oh. so that’s why you remembered such a silly pact. because that’s what it was to you: silly and nothing more.

he dryly laughed. “yeah, what dumb kids.”

ع˖⁺𖤐ミ KIM TAERAE - he could only love from afar.

you knew nothing about kim taerae, but he knew a lot about you. he knew your favorite color, the color almost all your belongings were. he knew the foods you liked and didn’t like from the way you would pick some off your plate and devour others. he knew your small habits.

this wasn’t to say taerae was weirdly obsessed with you. this was to say that he found a lot of interest in you, someone who always found your way wound up in his life. it seemed everywhere he went, you were there.

somewhere along the way, he developed some sort of feelings for you. it felt silly for him to say he was in love with you, a random person that had wandered into the background of his life. it was true though. there was something about you that lured him in. you just seemed like someone who would be fun to be around. he used to think there could be some way for him to muster up the courage to talk to you.

however, he quickly found out it was impossible, at least in the way he originally intended.

you already had someone else to be that person he hoped he could be in his head. he had seen the other man come up to you on several occasions during the times you found yourself in his line of view.

and eventually that man was entering that line of view with you, hand in hand. your eyes seemed to shine brighter when you looked at him.

sometimes taerae thought about if he hadn’t just been a faraway admirer. maybe the one you were currently seeing used to be like him, someone who found you admirable because you waltzed into their life like nothing. maybe that could have been him. however, he was a coward, so it could never be him.

ع˖⁺𖤐ミ SHEN QUANRUI (RICKY) - you saw him as your little brother.

ricky had known your brother since the 3rd grade, so he became a frequent visitor at your home. he especially loved it when you were at home, his friend’s older sibling of four years.

he loved it when you would pause your homework to head downstairs whenever you heard the two of them come through the door. he loved it when you would walk with them to places when your parents were wary of two young boys walking alone. he loved it when you drove them around places immediately after getting your license, laughing and sharing all the wonderful memories

and somewhere along the way, he began to love you.

which was why it was hard for him when you started to attend university far away from your hometown. it meant that he would only see you a couple times a year, when you would come home for holidays or for summer.

that was why this time, now that he was an adult, he really wanted to show you how much he had really grown over the years, how he wasn’t the elementary school student you once knew.

it was the holiday season, so he found himself at your house more, both hanging out with your brother and waiting for you to come home.

at the click of the door opening, his ears knew it was you. even as your brother called out to him, nothing could stop him from rushing down the stairs to see you, a smile forming across your face once you noticed him.

“ricky!” you exclaimed, holding your arms out for a hug.

as he pulled away, there were so many things he wanted to say, but something suddenly stopped all of it from coming out.

“honey, where do you want me to put these things?” an unknown voice asked as they entered the home, “oh who’s this?”

ricky looked at the newcomer and then back at you. was this…?

“oh he’s one of my brother’s friends. we’ve known each other for so long that he’s basically also my brother,” you explained before turning back to him, “ricky, this is my fiance.”

ع˖⁺𖤐ミ KIM GYUVIN - he realized too late.

“i have something embarrassing to admit.”

he turned his head to you. it was late at night at your house. you both had built a blanket fort while you watched movies. though, the movies eventually got boring, so you two opted for talking with the tv as background noise.

he raised an eyebrow. he wondered what this “embarrassing” thing was. typically he associated you and “embarrassing” as something cute as he always found your declared embarrassing moments to be some of your cutest. it was what he had come to find out as he began to take more interest in you as more than a friend.

“i used to have a crush on you.”

his ears immediately perked up upon hearing both the words “crushed” and “used to” in the same sentence. what?

“huh?”

you gasped. “oh, you really didn’t know. i tried to make it obvious, but it was about a year ago. i really tried to give you hints. i thought you were ignoring me because you weren’t interested, but i guess you never noticed them anyway.”

he thought back to the year prior, trying to remember any moments that stuck out to him. that’s when he realized it all. the way the vending machine would always give you an extra drink. the way you would always sit closer to him if anyone sat on your other side, even if there was perfectly enough space. the way you laughed at his jokes that weren’t really jokes. how could he not see it all then?

“you really used to?” he asked for confirmation.

you nodded but made sure to wave your hand to dismiss the idea. “that was a year ago. i got over you when i realized you probably didn’t like me back. i hope that doesn’t make things weird between us.”

oh but it did. it made everything weird for him. if he had seen everything you were doing, he could have had you with him. now, however, it was too late for that. you had already moved on while he was stuck on you.

ع˖⁺𖤐ミ PARK GUNWOOK - he thought you deserved better.

gunwook knows when you love someone so much, you know what they deserve, and sometimes, you have to own up that you are not what they deserve.

not in a way that meant he was too good for you. no, in a way that you were too good for him. you were able to give him everything he ever desired when loving someone, but he always felt he could never return the favor. everything you did seemed to be too good, too good for him to even try to do the same for you.

whenever he did, he continuously thought about how you deserved someone who could actually do these things casually, someone who didn’t have to worry about returning your kindness because they already did that on their own. it was never a chore for him to do nice things for you, but it was the fact that they didn’t come naturally for him that bothered him.

you effortlessly knew everything to make him better. you never had to try with your actions because you were the kind of person who understood him enough to know the ways to comfort him.

yet he knew nothing about you, at least nothing he could do to love you in the same way you loved him. he thought too much about it. the intrusive thoughts soon overtook him until the pain was unbearable.

you deserved the best, and the best was not with him.

it was why he called you out of your home one evening to explain everything to you. he wanted to you find your own person who could treat you in the way a relationship should be, two-sided.

“if you care so much about me in this way, doesn’t that mean you do care enough?” you asked once he finished his spiel about not being good enough for you.

no. that did not mean it. if he continued on like this, he would only hurt you more. this was the only thing he could do to actually care for you. he needed to let you go.

ع˖⁺𖤐ミ HAN YUJIN - you both were too young to understand love

“i like you.”

yujin thought it would be easy like that, telling the person he liked how he felt, the feelings that had been bothering him for the past months. he wasn’t even sure really what they meant, but it had been his friend to clarify for him.

“you’re in love.” but what really was love? he didn’t know.

“no you don’t.”

and it seemed you didn’t know either.

embarrassed, yujin didn’t know what to say after your flat-out rejection. it was the end of the school day when he told you, both of you being put on cleaning duty that day. he hadn’t expected his confession to be while sweeping the classroom, but his friend had urged him to tell you as soon as possible. now he was regretting ever following such advice.

“what?” it was all he could say to express his confusion.

you paused your sweeping, leaning forward onto the broom for support as you explained yourself. “yujin, how can you be so sure that’s how you feel. love is so ambiguous. we’re only 16. there’s a whole life ahead of us for those types of romantic endeavors. your first experience shouldn’t be wasted on me, someone who doesn’t even know what love is. i don’t even know if i feel that way about you. i just don’t know anything. i just think you’re mistaking it for something else. we’re in this age where we want to explore, but i don’t think this is what’s best, whether it’s what you want or not.”

your words were moving, and it really had him thinking. was this love? did he feel love for you? when he could barely answer the questions in his own head, he knew you were right. you both were both too young for these matters, so why bother with it. he should just focus on the high school experience with you as his friend.

only future him could see what he had back then truly was love, but he was too young to understand what that feeling in his chest was.

synopsis: crown prince kim gyuvin was extremely friendly! (though his horse might not be). little horse riding afternoon with the crown prince on your time off. absolutely nothing could go wrong!

“it’s not actually that hard is it?”

gyuvin blinks at you funny. well, he always looks funny.

“… is it?”

he just laughs. “y/n, it’s not,” he pulls the strap of his left boot, “plus you’ll be starting off easy anyway. not going too fast enough to give you whiplash at least.”

gyuvin intended that to be some sort of comfort. but it didn’t work, your face contorted weirdly as you leaned against the fence, waiting for gyuvin to finish preparing.

“wait no that wasn’t supposed to scare you! you’ll be fine! i’m a pro anyway!” he waved his arms dramatically, seeing your terrified expression. “you’ve seen me go around a few times anyway right?”

yeah you ha— wait. the only times you’ve recalled watched him go around was in secret. it would be in the morning, it was cold but you had to get up anyway to run errands in the market to avoid the crowds. you always saw the king’s son in the field, full of energy and smiling as the horse he was on galloped around the field for a warm up. someone was there too, he looked related to him, a bit younger. was it yoon? yui.. jin…

“HAN YUJIN HOLD ON OR YOU’RE GONNA FALL, I DONT NEED NURSE SUNG TO KNOW THIS WAS BECAUSE OF MY INFLUENCE AGAIN!”

“oh they sound so happy.” you thought. there was something so oddly comforting seeing friends? family? being so close. insults that held no venom but was a secret language for care and love. you could tell from the older boy’s face, you eventually learned his name was kim gyuvin, that he was charming. not in the way that was conventionally handsome per say, but it was the uniqueness is his smile and friendly eyes.

after weeks of watching him in secret, and new duties in the stable whilst one of the groundsmen fell sick, gyuvin decided it would be a great idea to make a new friend. yep… friend.

it was odd seeing him up close, and not just a blob in the distance. he was oddly fumbling walking towards his horse, eumppappa, until he reached down to fix his bootstrap. as he stood up, he almost loses his footing with his undone helmet almost flying off his head.

this? this was the prince? how… how oddly refreshing.

“hey, what are you smiling at?” gyuvin grumbles, and borderline pouting.

you waved off your smile. “it’s nothing i swear. now come on, i still have things to do i quite literally don’t have all day.”

gyuvin sighs playfully, putting on his brown, leather gloves. “fine then. why would you even take horse duty? there had to be better uses of your time around here.”

you blush. god, did you take the job just so you could observe closer? that didn’t seem creepy at all…

“alright watch and lea— SHIT!”

before you know it you hear a heavy thud, eumppappa shook his head, and trotted off in the other direction. gyuvin groans from the ground clutching his right arm.

you stood still for a second too long before you stooped down to his side.

“oh my god, gyuvin, are you okay? are you hurt? i’ll get you to nurse sung he’d know wha—“

gyuvin’s laugh echoes in your ears. you regain your focus as gyuvin lifted his helmet that fell in front of his face again. his eyes crinkled and his smile was wide.

“i’m fine! i’m totally fine, that was part of the—ow, plan. that damned horse…”

“your white shirt’s all ruined.” you frowned. he was the prince. knowing his dad, the king’s reaction may not be one you anticipate.

“y/n, seriously. it’s fine. my dad can scold me as his son, not the prince. i’m not actually on duty, right? so he technically can’t even scold me that bad.” he chuckles to himself, yet something in his eyes know that conversation won’t end well either.

you break out into a smile and a small laugh. suddenly you realise, the position you guys are in. gyuvin sat on the dirt, while you knelt next to him, your hand clutching a piece of his white sleeve not touching his body, but his hand was right next to yours on the muddy ground. you start to pull away, but he takes your hand before you could.

he attempts to pull himself up, but you lose your footing too. thankfully, you don’t face-plant into the dirt. your face lands flush his chest and his hands come on your back to prevent you from falling off of him.

you spend a few seconds to catch your breath, raising your head slightly but not too high because god forbid he sees your impossibly red face.

“are… are you alright?” gyuvin’s voice is low and a bit strained, maybe due to your weight on his chest, maybe a bit from embarrassment too.

you don’t say anything as you scramble to get up, then you actually offer a hand to help him up, cringing as he wiped his dirty hand onto his ‘white’ shirt. you step back and straighten your own pants, though not as dirty as gyuvin’s. you felt bad for his clothes.

he coughs awkwardly and smiles your way.

“you really have to be careful, gyuvin.”

“well… seeing as how that ended up, i kind of don’t want to next time.” he mumbles

“sorry i didn’t catch that?” you say confusingly.

“o-oh uh nothing, nothing, yeah i’ll be careful. but you have to be careful too!”

you break a small smile. “alright, we should get cleaned up before our clothes fully dry, it’s easier for me to clean it anyway.”

gyuvin looks at you apologetically, but your eyes say ‘don’t worry’.

“h-hey,” he stammered. stammered? since when did the kim gyuvin stammer? “surely, let’s try this again later. eumppappa would be in a mood for the rest of the day because of this. but it’s up to you! i know you’re busy and everything—“

“gyuvin.” you stop his blabbering.

“yeah?” he looks at you dumbly. cute.

“i’ll see you on friday same time okay? this time with… less dirty hopefully.” he smiles out of relief at your words. your heart leaps and speeds up unintentionally. the cool kim gyuvin you saw from afar just a few weeks ago was gone. in front of you was a silly, charming prince. this was gonna be fun.

5 Fantasy K-Drama to take you on a trip to Fantasia

K-dramas have always been the biggest and best escape for us fans. After a long and tiring day at work or school, all we want is to melt down into the couch and watch our comfort Kdramas for the ultimate healing. This comfort may add up with some thrill and excitement and take the overall experience on a different level when the theme of the drama deals with fantasy.

Just imagine, a bowl full of snacks and a magical mystical drama to make you forget about all the struggles about the day - exciting, isn’t it?

This is what brings us here today to write about the 5 fantasy K-dramas that will leave you wailing for more. So, let's get into the list,

1. Goblin - The lonely and great god (2016)

When the talk is about fantasy k-dramas, there is no way Goblin - the lonely and great god can be missed! This 2016 drama is undoubtedly one of the exemplary ones in kdrama history. It tells the story of a military general Kim Shin, played by Gong Yoo, who is framed and killed as a traitor. He, however, becomes an immortal Goblin because of the curse he receives from the almighty. The only person to help break his curse is Goblin’s Bride, played by Kim Go Eun as Ji Eun Tak. This drama also features Lee Dong Wook and Yoo In Na in two very interesting roles. The storyline progresses as the Goblin meets Ji Eun Tak and falls in love on the way to seek his respite from his immortal life. Ji Eun Tak also accepts magical changes in her life brought by the Goblin. This drama is a perfect inclusion in your list if you fancy supernatural boyfriends. Moreover, the magical elements, such as seeing ghosts, opening doors to different places, flying cutlery, summoning Goblin with a blown-out candle etc., can work as the perfect distraction of the heavy angst hidden behind. All in all, this drama certainly has the potential to become one of your most favorite dramas of all time and that is why you should give it a try if you have not yet.

2. Hotel Del Luna (2019)

Till this date Hotel Del Luna is one of the most unique dramas to be ever made. From the plot to the characterization, everything is unmatched. This 2019 fantasy drama deals with the story of a supernatural hotel, where the souls of deceased people come and rest for a few days before they carry on their journey towards their next life. Hotel Del Luna is run by Jung Man Wol, played by IU, who is bound to this hotel in a neither alive nor dead state due to the sins she committed in her lifetime. The only way Jung Man Wol can break free is by seeing off the very last guest of the hotel. However, for that she needs some assistance and that is provided by the hotel’s new manager Koo Chan Sung, played by Yoo Jin Goo. The story unfolds one by one as Man Wol and Chan Sung solve various issues associated with the guests of the hotel, gradually seeing off the staff Man Wol has worked closely with. This magical theme of the drama goes hand in hand with the philosophical development. Man Wol and Chan Sung duo sometimes fight evil spirits with magical powers and sometimes they root for helping out their ghost guests with their (freshly-ended) life conflicts as they keep on entertaining the viewers without a single boring episode. Hotel Del Luna not only brings a magical refreshment but also enriches the viewers with some crucial life lessons in a very philosophical way. And that is what makes it a must watch for you.

3. Tale of the Nine tailed (2020)

Are you interested in Korean folklore? And do you enjoy horror? If yes, then Tale of the Nine Tailed is the right drama for you. This 2020 drama tells of a tale associated with a Gumiho, nine tailed fox and his immortal journey to find his first love’s reincarnated version in 2020. Lee Yeon, played by Lee Dong Wook, is a nine tailed fox who gave up his mountain spirit position to find his first love, A Eum, again. A Eum is now reincarnated as Nam Ji Ah, played by Jo Bo Ah, who comes across Lee Yeon while looking for her lost parents. The story progresses when Lee Rang, Lee Yeon’s brother (played by Kim Bum), wakes up the imoogi in order to take revenge on his brother. Imoogi, played by Lee Tae Ri, is the main villain of the story and makes the drama more and more intriguing. 4. The King: Eternal Monarch (2019)

Fantasy mixed with royalty, that too in modern context? Perfect, isn’t it? Yes, that is what you get from The King: Eternal Monarch. The story of this 2019 drama sets in place when the King of Kingdom of Corea, Lee Gon, played by Lee Min Ho, finds a door that leads him to a parallel world, and he lands in Republic of Korea. There he comes across Lieutenant Jung Tae Eul, played by Kim Go Eun, someone he already knew but never got to see before. They fall in love as the story progresses but start to face several complications as two different worlds start mixing up with each other due to the villain’s advances. The fantasia of this drama lies in the magical power of a royal flute, which can open doors to several different versions of the universe, can delay death and age, can change, stop and help in traveling through time. The drama is a perfect example of a rom-com with a magical backdrop, a perfect choice when you need something light-hearted yet thrilling to enjoy.

5. The Sound of Magic (2022)

“Annarasumanara” – the sound of magic, is the most realistic fantasy drama to be included in the list. This 2022 drama represents a perfect picturization of struggles and survivals. The story deals with the life of a young, intelligent yet poor schoolgirl Yoon Ah Yi, played by Choi Sung Eun. She fights for her survival each day as she tries to pay off her father’s debt while paying for her and her sister’s school fees all alone. By the turn of events, she meets Ri Eul, played by Ji Chang Wook, who is a magician sheltered in an abandoned amusement park. Ri Eul brings a wave of magic and happiness in the tough life of Yoon Ah Yi and soon they get another companion, Na Il Deung. Na Il Deung, played by Hwang In Youp, is Yoon Ah Yi’s classmate and the top student, who is immensely burdened with his parents’ expectations. Both of them try to find a respite from their real life struggles with the help of Ri Eul’s magic. With only 6 episodes this drama can make you cry and smile at the same time. The character of Ri Eul is so mysterious yet so touching that it will leave you wanting for more, especially because of the twist in the end.

So, this is our list of 5 fantasy Kdramas that will take you on a trip to fantasia. Nevertheless, Doom at your service, Strong Woman Do Bong Soon, Moon Lovers: Scarlet heart, My Love From The Star etc. are some of the standard recommendations that you can go with without any hesitation.

Thank you for waiting for me to compile my thoughts, choosing dramas that mean a lot to me isn't easy. But here are the ones I enjoyed and aren't talked about enough:

Encounter: Subversion of popular tropes will always be more interesting to watch. Here we have a heroine as the isolated CEO and male lead as the sweetest man to exist, sweeping her off her feet with adventures while completely respecting her position. Song Hyo Kyo gives a subtle but excellent performance, which made me love her acting way before she cemented it with The Glory

Guardians/ Lookout: I can't believe this wasn't as popular as Vincenzo, cause it damn deserves it. It's a story about blood-filled revenge, but from a woman who uses her pain to serve other people. Lee Si Young is phenomenal.

I Need Romance 3: Kim So Yeon can do anything, but seeing her as a careless 30-something as executive with a pet giraffe and a closed heart did something to me. She's the most imperfect, funnily relatable, brass and interesting. She just needed the annoying kid she used to babysit -now turned hot musician- to unlock her loving side. Sung Joon is the hottest a man has ever been.

Something In The Rain: Take all the societal problems Korean women are facing and weave a precious love story around it. It should be impossible, but they've made it work. The show excels in its depictions of casual intimacy, work life and friendships, nothing is exaggerated for effect. It flows through you like a song. And the ending wasn't bad, if you expected a fairytale you should grow up. It's a horrible reality, wherein lies love.

Search WWW: the ultimate story about women. This made me love kdramas. Three main players whose agendas clash with their ethics in the war of capitalism and surveillance. Three love stories, each hitting different strings. The ultimate modern classic. Memeable to death.

Ms Perfect and Woman of Dignity: it's not accurate to put these two together, but they represent the best that makjang has to offer. They're truly about how a woman finds her voice after being betrayed and how to take revenge on the people you thought had your back. And find a hotter man in the process.

The Penthouse: all its success made people forget it had the tightest script for two seasons. The writing was unmatched. It gave me my genius revenge queen Su Ryeon, who ran circles around every opponent, while keeping her warm heart and kindness intact. Don't watch the last three episodes, but other than that, it deserves its spot on the drama pantheon. The sweetest unexpected romance as well.

beautiful beautiful men choi woo shik and kim sung cheol played ung bros for life in this beautiful beautiful drama. one of the best handled love triangles ive seen. they were there for each other through thick and thin, and helped each other through sm. best. on the tenth spot because they could've expanded on it more :(

#9 - what's wrong with secretary kim? : lee young joon and park yoo sik

i could never make it through the series. i left it behind on ep9/10 i think, and primarily because i physically cannot digest how emotionless park min young is. BUT, kudos to the hilarious office best bromance by the great park seo joon and kang ki young. ps - why is kang ki young the pankaj tripathi of korean dramas?

can we ever forget the legendary wink? or the dream where min hyuk is dressed as a woman? i think not. this was more of a frenemy type bromance, united by their love for bong soon and ironically divided by it, too. i refuse to acknowledge this as a love triangle tho. bong soon was astronomical in not hurting gook du and i will not take any criticism. is it a bromance if one of them is pretending to be gay? (and no, we will not discuss any sort of iTs pRoBLeMaTiC debates here.)

#7 - tale of the nine tailed : lee yeon and koo shin ju

don't come at me with the lee rang comments. rang was his half brother, related by blood. their relationship was top tier, but the stay at home husband yeon and working husband shin ju was too cute to not be classified as a bromance. in the beginning, i saw their relationship as shin ju serving yeon, a dynamic that they both seemed to embody. but as the show progresses, yeon baby we know you love shin ju just as much :*

#6 - alchemy of souls : jang uk and seo yul

song joon ki seems to have an attachment to bromances. han seo had the best character arc of the ENTIRE kdrama universe fight me. that court scene where vincenzo pats han seo's cheek was max bro cuteness. still not over his death. he deserved better.

#5 - vincenzo : vincenzo cassano and jang han seo

even though i didn't very much like the show's first couple, bromance delivered well. hospital scene peaked, complete true beauty sameness. it was pretty hard to understand who was the superior officer in this tbh initially, since their comraderie was so cool, shi jin was kid to soldier in a split second. loved how they chose not to unnecessarily exaggerate the love triangle initially bec i was only rooting for the second couple.

#4 - descendants of the sun : yoo shi jin and seo dae young

business proposal was the first kdrama i saw. i finished it in a three day trip, and i remember thinking more about the bromance than the romance. i was NOT used to the clumsiness of kdramas in general, like wattpad fics incarnated. the bromance delivered well, made me root for the second couple, and was the only initial indicator of kang tae moo being human instead of archaeopteryx. that word was a nightmare to spell.

#3 - business proposal : kang tae moo and cha sung hoon

the most wolfstar bromance if I ever saw one. and NO, i do not ship wolfstar just like i do not ship these two. they are totally adorable, and specially since their personalities seemed to switch from when they were children. yeong turned all serious face and lee gon got fun. love their years of friendship sm, their wordless communication and yeong in general. the acting was amazing.

#2 - the king - eternal monarch : lee gon and jo yeong

#1 - guardian - the lonely and great god : kim shin aka goblin and wang yeo aka grim reaper

yes, i know I'm missing a lot of iconic ones. unfortunately, i haven't seen alot of kdramas and have left alot in bw (like true beauty bec i couldn't see second lead hurt).

spring onion slays ^

told ya, if u follow me u already knew what the first one was gonna be. being the simp i am for the goblin and grim reaper, these two achieved the max points for their bromance. that slow dynamic of goblin calling reaper's hat tacky to fighting with knives to that iconic 'saranghae' to 'HOW DARE YOU' to goblin boiling eggs with his powers while reaper chills the beer. they know each other so well. love love love them and you should too 🔪

in my heart, the trio of our boys beats nothing (except for the gookdu-minhyuk relationship of the crown prince and uk). but instead of choosing the frenemy thing, i decided to love yul and uk more. yul was such a quiet character, with incredible potential in him for me to hate him, but then...(the guy is literally too sweet and beautiful and nice i can ramble for days). and uk, man, our power baby who loves every version of our beautiful but slow girl, needed so much emotional support. uk and yul were not afraid to show their affection for each other, a trait i admired in all the three boys (jang uk, seo yul and park dang gu).

zb1 as ontario universities + programs

yes this is an incredibly niche topic but this has now become my chosen coping mechanism for uni decisions

sung hanbin - queens health science

such a pretty campus

a lot of historic buildings and freshly manicured lawns that i think would fit hanbin perfectly

and like imagine him with soft academia

it’s just a really nice school and its health sci program is one of the best in ontario

like it’s very neutral good

and he feels like he would make a really good doctor, like pov sung hanbin is your family doctor LMFAO

and like i think he’d do a great job, probably has the prettiest notes and always does his part during group projects

zhang hao - queens commerce

ofc i had to keep haobin together

but dw neither is sacrificing their education for the other person (remember kids the only person who can get you your degree is you)

queens commerce is also one of the best business schools in ontario

ik that zhang hao is a music kid but that felt like cheating so this is an alternative!

out of all of zb1 he feels like the most business type person?

like he’s so smart and always plans ahead

so i feel like he could be successful in anything he tried but especially business because it’s so lucrative and opens the door to so many paths

like hanbin i think he suits the clean and historic school vibes

they both have a very curated?? for lack of better word image and i think they’d look like they were in a photoshoot every time they step out on campus

park gunwook - uoft criminology, law and society

university of toronto!!

i’m just saying, debate is literally the gateway to law

and i’d be willing to bet that he has done or considered mock trial so i think this would fit super well

he knows a lot about history and philosophy, so i can see him being interested in studying a humanity

in canada, you need to get a bachelors before going to law school, so a lot of people do something related

this is basically as good as you can get

i also think gunwook would do well in uoft

it can be a kind of isolating experience because the school is so big and a lot of people commute so there isn’t much of a social scene

but as the resident social butterfly, i feel like gunwook would be able to establish a good circle

and also i think he would like the energy of the city

there’s always something to do and both city hall and parliament are literally right next to the campus

alternatively, i considered university of ottawa, which is good for its social science since you know, it’s literally in the capital city of canada so its law program is really good

but honestly there’s not much undergrad wise

i could see him going for graduate school though

i don’t know lawyer gunwook just feels right

he’s good at making decisions, works well under pressure, has the fundamentals down, and is a hard worker so i can definitely see him making it into law school

kim taerae - waterloo computer science

i know that taerae isn’t that genre of nerd

but the glasses

him being losercore

like you can’t tell me he wouldn’t go to the most loser of all loser schools in ontario

(btw waterloo is not bad, it’s actually really good for engineering and comp sci but also everybody there has no life hence the loser allegations)

(also because if you do eng or comp sci you are inherently a loser i’m so sorry pls continue to run tumblr though)

but yeah i can definitely see him doing comp sci maybe like ui ux stuff

actually the more i think about it the more it makes sense for me

he’s also the only thinking (mbti) in zb1 and his fashion sense would fit in perfectly with the rest of the department

seok matthew - mcmaster nursing

like hanbin, i really do see him doing something healthcare related

mcmaster is second for nursing, after uoft, but i don’t think matthew would like toronto as much

from what i’ve heard, vancouver is a lot greener, more laid back, and hiking culture is big there

toronto kind of offers none of that, with the addition of pretty bad air quality comparatively (still pretty good though because canada’s pretty sparsely populated)

mcmaster though is in a smaller town that’s essentially just a university town and also has a trail literally right on campus

it’s a smaller, more tight knit community and nursing is a pretty small program so it’d be even closer

i think he would have a really good time with mcmaster’s social scene

it’s also right by lake ontario and has pretty decent weather

ricky shen - uoft rotman

another business student, are we surprised?

i also considered art but our only really good art school is ocad and as far as i know it doesn’t focus on traditional art as much

so anyways mr young and rich tall and handsome is going to go the business route

uoft is really international student friendly, mostly because they accept a lot of international students and because toronto is also pretty diverse

like you can truly get any type of cuisine here and we have a really big asian population too

so as a person who also immigrated here, i’d say it’s not a terrible transition

definitely the most diverse of any of the ontario schools

once again, the social life at uoft is not great but usually the business schools are better

han yujin - still in high school

han yujin - university of guelph kinesiology

since yujin’s currently studying dance at his school, i thought that kinesiology would be a good fit

for those who don’t know, it’s essentially like sports science?? or studying the way people move and so forth

he also plays soccer and just gives off like sporty vibes?

like the quiet kid who is surprisingly the fastest on the team

once again, uoft is technically the best for this, but it’s kind of a scary place to go into alone so i can see yujin choosing a quieter school

i’d say guelph is even more closely knit than mcmaster by virtue of it being a smaller city and a smaller school

they have a solid health science program though and good student support too, which i think he’d benefit from

kim jiwoong - uoft english literature

i know that he is an actor

and i considered having him go the performing arts route

however, i know nothing about those schools and once again i think it’d be too easy

so to make my life harder, instead of having jiwoong perform shakespeare plays, i’m making him read and analyze them instead

he gives off like that one english teacher you had who changed your life and helped you rekindle your love of reading after your gifted burnout yknow

but yeah i see him going into english lit to go be a teacher

and uoft would be perfect for that because it not only has i believe one of the largest libraries in north america, but also a really big teachers college once he’s done getting his bachelors

he also seems like he would be able to fit in in any environment, so i don’t see uoft’s size or atmosphere being a problem for him

kim gyuvin - toronto metropolitan university performance: acting

i saved the best for last

ik i literally just said that i wasn’t going to do performing arts for jiwoong but this is different

something about his performance during the musical segment of boys planet changed the way i viewed him forever

like??????? how is he that good for like the most random challenge ever

i think he’d be really good at acting seriously so anyways!

also tmu (formerly known as ryerson) is just a very fun vibe

it’s in the more downtown area of toronto compared to uoft and right by the entertainment district

the nightlife is so good and gyuvin would probably be the life of the party

tmu’s also like uoft’s funkier younger cousin so i think that fits his vibe well

Kim Sung Cheol (actor)- Personality Reading 🤔🥱

He can be quite active. I saw a scene of him riding on a bike quite professionally (he was doing flips and tricks on the bike and going super fast). I also saw the image of a motorcycle, could mean he rides them or is just interested in them

Has a high sex drive

When angry, his entire body could go rigid. He may be the type to explode, but before the explosion, he would look like death itself. The man may be scary when upset (this doesn't have to mean he gets this angry over little things)

you were so proud of him and how far he came, but god you just missed his presence so much. you often found yourself scrolling through old texts and looking back at the pictures you favourited of jiwoong

but what you didn't know was that jiwoong actually came back to seoul! he just wanted to surprise you since he figured just telling you was too boring

you were fast asleep on the couch after binge watching a k-drama on netflix. the door clicked open and jiwoong walked into this scene, immediately chuckling

"of course they were watching a k-drama..." he whispers to himself

he puts his bag down and makes his way towards you, he bends down to the ground level to get a closer look of your face

jiwoong then decides to leave a sweet kiss on your forehead <3 as well as caressing your hair softly

you on the other hand were extremely nervous and had trouble sleeping the entire night, continuously tossing and turning while worrying of every worst scenario possible

making a great first impression was very important to you, embarrassing yourself was your worst fear and the last thing you wanted to happen

the day you were going to meet them was nerve-wracking. hanbin noticed how you were fidgeting with your hands the whole drive there

when a red light halted his driving, he gently held your hand, he could tell from the look on your face that you were worried

"babe, don't be scared. my parents will love you." he reassured, caressing your hair

you sighed, "i'm not sure bin, i'm just so nervous because i want to make a good impression for them."

"and that's okay! you remember how i was acting when i had to meet yours? but it went fine. i've told my parents about you and they're so thrilled to finally see you. in fact, whenever i call them the first thing they ask me about is you!"

"seriously?" you asked, he nodded, "yes trust me baby, everything will be fine."

you took a deep breath in, "your right."

just then the lights turned green and before you knew it, you reached his parent's house

you had your bag in hand, it was full of gifts for his parents and sister as well as some food you had made for them

"ready?" you nodded and headed to the front doorstep, hanbin then rang the doorbell with you feeling less worried than before

seok matthew

you weren't sure how long you had been at your desk, continuously checking if you knew each definition and fact for your upcoming exam

this exam was huge and played a massive part in your final grade, the last you wanted to do was fail

you had your laptop open, notebook open, and pens scattered all over your desk

matthew sighed as he was sat on your bed, he wasn't expecting you to study for this long and was growing concerned over your health

he had also been there for hours and was excited to just spend time with you only for you to begin studying after informing him about your exam

he couldn't take seeing you like this and got up, the first thing he did was take the pen out of your hands and shut your laptop

"hey!" you said, when you made eye contact, he noticed that you eyes were bloodshot red

for context it had been a few days since you'd seen taerae, he was busy filming a new show that required multiple days of shooting since it was outside of seoul

but taerae had been texting you everyday, sending you an update for everything the group did, as well as some handsome selfies you got to keep to yourself

"how was it in paju?" you asked, he giggled, "so fun! we went to the countryside and did some missions for money and just got to relax." seeing him talk about it this excited made you smile, but seeing taerae always made you smile

he noticed you were still reading the book you picked up the exact day he had to leave with his members

"oh how far are you in the book?" you showed him and he noticed that the bookmark you previously had was gone

"i finished it!" his eyes lit up

"that's great! i love seeing you do the things you love such as reading." he said then patting your head

your face was stuffed into his chest as you wrapped your arms around him, "and i love seeing you spending time with the other members. i'm so happy you got to debut..."

"ready to go to bed love?" ricky asked, you were writing in your notebook and ricky was ready to fall asleep after your busy day together

you had a habit of writing inside your notebook. it became a regular thing after you randomly decided to one day and you didn't stop after that, the writing usually consisted of what you did during the day

ricky had always wanted to take you to his hometown of shanghai and when your schedule was empty, he thought it was a great idea

you were in the house that he grew up in and you two had just travelled around the beautiful city today

it's safe to say that you now have enough souvenirs to cover your entire room in, and of course the young and rich man offered to pay for everything despite you telling him that he didn't have to

just then you finished writing and closed the book, putting it on the side table, "yup."

ricky smiled, finally able to shut the lights off and cuddle up next to you in the comfy blanket

the room fell silent for a while until you spoke up again, "you know ricky, i just wanted to say thank you for showing me shanghai, i know how much you've been wanting to go."

he caressed your hair lightly, "of course! it's so nice to be back and i knew i had to bring you as well."

"you're amazing shen quanrui." he giggled after hearing you say his real name.

"so are you (name)." you looked at the cat man full of love then kissed his cheek softly

"so what's tomorrow going to be like?"

"hmm not sure, let's see wherever our minds take us."

kim gyuvin

"(name)! come here!" gyuvin shouted, you excused yourself from the conversation you were having with gunwook to see what your boyfriend was calling you for

"what is it?" you said, sitting next to him on the dorm floor, he began caressing your hair lightly and held your hand

"oh nothing i just wanted you to come near me." you rolled your eyes playfully

"y'know i was talking to gunwook about something really interesting." he side eyed you

"more than any conversation you've had with me?"

the little puppy pouted causing you laugh, "of course not."

yujin then joined you guys on the floor, he was observing gyuvin for a while in the kitchen and wanted to expose his hyung

"hey (name), you know that gyuvin hyung was staring at you for the last ten minutes every since you began talking with gunwook hyung?" gyuvin eyes immediately widen and denied this claim

"WHAT? no i wasn't!" you raised your brow

"really gyu?" he shrugged, "okay fine, yeah i'll admit i was staring for a bit."

"more like a lot" yujin rebutted.

gyuvin then nudged yujin playfully, "YOU STAY QUIET!"

yujin began chuckling and left the scene to go back into his room, you then turned to face your boyfriend

"it's cute seeing you jealous." you said, he nuzzled his face into your neck, "oh stop it.."

park gunwook

(sorry everything i do for the maknae line is school related, i don't really know what else to do for them 😭)

you and gunwook were sitting in the field together eating your homemade lunch, you weren't actually planning on even coming to school that day because you were sick

but nonetheless you still decided to because you had an exam today and couldn't miss it

gunwook was clearly worried as you kept coughing and sneezing, he even offered some medicine to you but you kindly refused since you had already taken some

"i think you should just go home now, (name)." he said, eyes filled with concerned

you shook your head, "no, no, i'm fine."

"no you're not. the whole exam period you were trying to hold in your coughs!"

"well yeah because i didn't want our classmates to be grossed out by me."

"don't worry, i can provide you notes for the other classes." for a minute you forgot that gunwook was the class president of your homeroom and realized that he was right

"you're right. i'll take the bus home." he patted your head gently, "make sure to have lots of fluids and medicine okay?"

"i will, don't worry. thank you for being there for me babe."

"i'm always here if you need me."

gunwook decided to walk to the nearby bus stop with you and he even held your hand the whole time while you were waiting for the bus to arrive

when it did arrive, you hugged him goodbye and headed home, ready to get a good rest

you were coming home from the after school academy and didn't realize how dark it got outside

like it was pitch black outside and you could barely see anything ahead, it didn't help that you had a fear of darkness

so you turned your phone's flashlight on and began heading home

but after a few minutes you felt as if someone was walking behind you and began thinking of the worst

"who the fuck is that?" you whispered, stopping in your tracks

you somehow got yourself to point the light behind you to reveal... yujin?

yujin didn't go to the same academy as you so you were surprised to see your boyfriend there, he had a black hoodie on with some jeans

"what are you doing?" he chuckled

"oh i thought someone was following me, turns out it's just you."

"uh it's not just me, i'm your boyfriend."

"yeah yeah boyfriend." but you couldn't hide the fact that you were terrified to walk home

yujin sensed this and caressed your hair, "want me to walk home with you?"

you were so grateful that your boyfriend happened to be strolling around the area your academy was in

"yes, please, i'm so scared." you admitted. he held your hand and you two began walking together

"it's really not that dark, but i can understand why you might be scared." his voice didn't have a hint of fear in it, making you feel more safe around him

Over 240,000 words, 45+ chapters, written over 4 and a half years. Blood, Water is complete.

This post is long overdue. I finished the fic over 6 months ago (can you believe it?!) and I’ve been caught up in things offline, to put it lightly. But on the 5th (!) anniversary of the posting of the first chapter, i thought there was no better time than to, finally, put this out.

I really couldn’t have finished this work without all the love and support i received while it was being posted. I know we like to say to write for yourself, not the crowd, but god that support really motivated me and brought so much happiness to my life. And i hope i was able to return some of that to you, through my work.

Well you’ve all waited long enough. Let’s get started!

The inspiration of fic title is given in the fic summary. Blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of the womb. Although this quote is attributed as the full version of the common adage blood is thicker than water, it actually isn’t! It was coined later, though i don’t know by whom. (i actually didn’t know this when i first wrote the fic, but i stand by the quote—it’s great and very fitting)

I think i came up with the title like minutes before i posted the first chapter. I ended up posting it impulsively, kind of. I knew it was gonna be a big project but i wasn’t thinking about my other ongoing fics at the moment, i was so excited and i just had to start sharing this one

The entirety of the fic was written in a Google Doc titled Vampire 8.

Seonghwa’s favorite kaomoji (as referenced in Chapter 11) is (❁´◡`❁)

All the prominent vampires in this have ‘unsexy’ ages, and that’s on purpose. I wanted to do something different from the typical centuries-old vampires. So, instead, at roughly 200 years Seonghwa is the oldest, while Mingi would still be a young man if he hadn’t been turned

Don’t ask about the progression of time in this fic. It went on so long (i wrote this over literal years) i genuinely forgot

I like to write other idols into my fics, and this one is no exception. Most prominent would be VIXX (current and ex members) as the coven essentially in charge of the vampire world, but there’s also Monsta X’s Minhyuk, whose conversation with Yeosang was brought up in Chapter 22.

All our main coven’s makers were named after famous Korean actors and actresses. Ji Sung for Wooyoung and Yeosang, Nam Ji Hyun for Jongho, and of course Kim Tae Hee for Seonghwa. Mingi’s maker is never referred to by name but her name is Nara, after Jang Na Ra.

Seonghwa’s real-life fits were often used as inspiration, but one was straight-up duplicated. This was of course the teal turtleneck + mushroom hair combo from the amusement park date in Chapter 13.

I did do a little color theming for some characters, but nothing too strong. We have red for Hongjoong, turquoise/teal for Seonghwa, purple for San, and gold for Yeosang.

Another theme i love for all my writing is space. Seonghwa and his planet/star comparison is probably the most obvious. Personally, i have a lot of fondness for the framing of Wooyoung and Yeosang as the sun and moon, and then the addition of San as the Earth.

There have been some questions about the systemic issues in world of Blood, Water that i’ve kind of avoided answering because i wanted to focus on the immediate, personal story. But basically vampires are an open secret in the world that the government continues to staunchly deny. The vampire population has historically been very, very small. Vampire society, as a whole, didn’t exist until recently. Around 20 years ago, the government decided to crack down and eliminate the vampire ‘issue’ once and for all, leading to the hunting days that cost many vampires their lives—including Yeosang and Wooyoung’s maker, Jisung. When the regime changed, the new government stopped the state-operated vampire hunting. The blood den/club business that had always operated on a small scale—accessible only to the most connected/wealthy vampires—grew and even regular vampires (and humans) could get in. This reduced the ‘mugging’ operations less well-off vampires had to resort to, but bred new problems. Increased vampire-human interactions resulted in more turnings. By the start of the Blood, Water timeline, vampire population has started to outpace the blood available at the blood dens. Vampires of a certain level of society, like Seonghwa, are strongly advised not to turn any more new vampires, because soon the problem might get too big to hide.

Technically there is no vampire leader, although the authority everyone defers to is Hakyeon and his coven. But, as Hakyeon himself would say, they’re not a government—they’re businessmen. Anything they do—keeping the surrounding areas safe, putting down dangerous vampires, providing blood and feeders for newborns and adults—is to keep their business running smoothly. Vampire society is officially lawless so, yes, if Wooyoung wanted he could kill another vampire.

In the 4 and a half years from conception to completion of Blood, Water, a lot of things changed. My initial conceptualization of Yeosang was as a cold, dangerous individual, one that you might think would actually hurt San. Early on i decided to go for a tragic angle, so his sensitive, selfless nature came through.

Another change that got made very, very late was Yunho and Mingi’s ending. Don’t shoot me, but i initially plotted a different, sadder ending for them. After Yunho almost dies at the big house by newborn San, Mingi gets too into his head about Yunho’s safety and they break up. They uh don’t get back together. Yunho leaves Seoul for a better opportunity (a job, possibly a dance position—one of those things Mingi could never be a part of). It’d be kind of hinted that they’d get back together, but in the future, after Mingi’s worked through more of his vampirism issues and his anxieties. Obviously this isn’t what ended up happening, but, damn, it almost did. I decided not to do this because things were getting too heavy at the end there haha.

Finally, a not-insignificant part of Blood, Water was the chapter graphics that accompanied every chapter release on Twitter. It wouldn’t have been possible without all the wonderful stock image available for use online. A full list of resources:

Well, we’ve done it. We’re at the end of this post. Pretty long-winded but i figured if we could power through 240k words of the fic, we can survive a few paragraphs of my rambling.
