Shepard actually has the choice to confront her martyrdom. She says "It should have been me, I'm the lower-ranking officer" and Shepard can basically be like "Are you trying to be a martyr? For whom? Your grandfather?? Listen. What the Alliance did to your family was unfair. But I'm not going to lose a good soldier over it"

And it's like, now Ashley has a chance to keep going. Because Shepard gave her a second chance in life

There's no redemption in death, is the point here

so i've been watching the other romances and such on yt and reading comments about them and it's kind of blowing my mind how much people act like panam and judy's romances are automatically "better" because they have the "happier" star ending option. like that means the writers cared about them more and gave them more focus and development? which isn't true at all lol. all of the romances aside from panam feel like they were added as an afterthought but each of them is at least consistent to the characters. and not every player is looking for a nice neat happy ending and having one doesn't automatically make it better lol.

I am a fan since: 2017, I got it for Christmas in 2016 so I always just say '17

Favorite Game of the series: By virtue of simply replaying it the most, three. I really love the combat in it so I've played it near thirty times? But all time fave would have to 1 because of the aesthetic, tone, and story. There's something about first discovering a world which is what me1 is about.

MShep or Femshep? Gotta go with Femshep. I have played both, its just hard to capture the male shepard image I have in my head in the character creator so Femshep it is.

Earthborn, Colonist, or Spacer: earthborn! My main Shepard Jenn is earthborn so that's what I'm going with. Though, I have numerous Shepard's are various background combinations. I have feelings about each background trust me

Biotics or tech: Both! Though I really do love biotics, you can do some cool stuff with them, setting up and detonating both biotic and tech explosions.

Paragon or Renegade: I have to repeat what nowandthane said, paragon choices, renegade dialogue.

Favorite Class: Sentinel. I love the versatility of the class, but I do have an affection for Infiltrator because that's what got me through me2 on insanity.

Favorite Companion: Tali. By story value, Javik. He's like one of the most important characters

Least Favorite Companion: Javik, throw your attitude out the airlock. IM JOKING! (he has every reason to be like he is. I love him very much) Liara is my answer though only because I don't like some of the story choices the devs did with her. (ex: why does she have Shepard's armor in a display case when i didn't even romance her??? I can't mention this at all??)

My squad selection: For Jenn's playthrough: Wrex/Tali in me1. Garrus/Mordin/Miranda generally in me2. Thane and Miranda/Samara for the collector base. Kaidan/Javik/James in me3. Of course, I mix it up based on story aspects and the difficulty settings. But me3 is pretty fixed bc I always play on insanity.

Favorite in-game Romance: Tali and Garrus. I'm a sucker for awkward, wet cat of a man like Garrus is. But Tali's romance man.... her parting line to Shepard during the beam run "I have a home" makes me insane actually

Other pairings I like: Obligatory Nihlus/Shepard/Kal (and the duos within in this throuple) mention here. Other than that, Joker/Miranda and Joker/James, Ashley/Garrus, and Shepard/Wrex, I could list a whole lot so I'll keep it to those ships lol

Favorite NPC: Nihlus and Kal'Reegar for sure. Victus and of course Niftu Cal our favorite biotic god.

Favorite Antagonist: Saren. He's the best one that we get in all three games (Harby could have been number one if they did anything with him in three but that's a rant for another time lmao)

Favorite Mission: Haestrom/Tali's Loyalty mission because that's when I get to see Kal <3 and blow up a colossus with the Cain. Also, the Collector Ship mission I have to mention because it's frankly the only mission besides the two previously stated where I've loaded up the save to play it on insanity when I'm bored. It's fun. Of course, this is with the Infiltrator.

Favorite Loyalty Mission: Tali for numerous reasons. Kal mention here. But I love the insight into Quarian culture we get. Also we see that fire in her when she's talking to the Board which I always appreciate. Along with her dialogue at the end, "I got better, Shepard. I got you." and then on the ship afterwards, "I don't think life is about what we deserve." I love her so much.

Favorite DLC: Leviathan. Only because of the horror aspect.

Control, Sythesis, or Destroy? Destroy. I have so many issues with the ending and that's the least worst option in my opinion so. (I too ignore that it wipes out the Geth and Edi fuck that)

Favorite Weapon: The M-90 Cain or the M-99 Saber aka the "Big Iron". Lancer in three was my favorite weapon before I found the Saber. Special mention to my bud the Mattock, I have been convinced of its glory. I do not think the Harrier is better anymore lol which my brother would be happy to hear

Favorite Place: me1 Citadel my BELOVED.

Injuries were inevitable in your line of work. That's why restoration spells and healing potions existed. But it didn't change the fact that you were holed up in a shack with possibly the worst of your companions. Xelzaz would have been able to heal you. Lucifer and Kaidan would have at least been pleasant company. What did Nebarra bring to the group? An impressive sword arm, and an even more rancid attitude.

It was your own fault really for thinking having some alone time together would help you turn that frown upside-down. Make you closer. Something.

But no, here you were, stuck in a damp old shack, leg out of commission as you tried to explain to Nebarra how to make a rudimentary healing poultice.

"Tell me why you can't just do this again?" He sneered.

You rolled your eyes. "Because I dislocated my damn shoulder in that last fight, and my leg is too messed up for me to stand."

The mer pounded halfheartedly on the blue mountain flowers and marshmerrow in the mortar and pestle. "Maybe if you-"

"Maybe if I what? Maybe if I what, Nebs?" You hissed. "Maybe if I hadn't saved your ass, that spriggan wouldn't have left a festering wound in my leg? Hmm?"

"Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't realize I'd asked you to jump in front of a twisted, evil tree. Let me just adjust my attitude." Each syllable was punctuated by the pounding of the ingredients. "The last time I checked, I didn't need your dumb heroics."

"Okay, next time I'll let you die. Fine."

"Fine."

He was absolutely impossible.

"Now add a tiny bit of canis root." Not enough to paralyze, just enough to numb and take the edge off as you healed.

He did as instructed, grumbling all the while.

"Let me see it." You said after a few moments.

Your companion held it out to you, and you dipped your finger in, testing the consistency before pulling out your waterskin. "Fill this up a third of the way to the brim, but you have to do it slowly. Mix in a bit at a time."

"Gods, you're picky."

You were going to bite him. Just sink your teeth into his flesh and rip and tear like any good dragon would. "If you don't do this right and it becomes infected and I die, I'm going to haunt your ass. I'm going to haunt your ass and make sure that wine is always out of reach for you. Just break every wine bottle I find with my little ghostly hands."

"You wouldn't dare." Though you couldn't see his face, you could practically feel his glower.

"Don't test me, mal fahliil. Zu'u du hi sili.*" You narrowed your eyes at him, lips curling over your teeth.

"Graxifalas kynd." He shot back. "You're not the only multilingual person in the room."

You hated that you somehow just couldn't manage to get along with this stupid mer. It wasn't like you hadn't tried, and it wasn't even that you didn't like him.... Or at least... you wanted to like him, he just made it so miserably difficult. Fighting you every single step of the way.

After a few moments, the pounding of the mortar and pestle slowed, and he showed you the poultice once more. You gave it the okay when you felt the gentle numbing sensation from the canis root. You held out your hand for him to hand it over, but he just set it down next to your leg and worked on applying it to the wound.

"I can do it..." You said, but he didn't seem to pay you much mind.

"Just like you can defeat a spriggan by yourself? Hmm?" His drawl was grating... and just a bit endearing.

"There were two of them."

"And two of us."

You rolled your eyes. He had a point though; You'd defeated dragons... how the hell were you unable to defeat two spriggans together. Well, you had defeated them, but your wounds weren't anything to sniff at. He began to bind your leg.

"You have very poor form in tight quarters." Nebarra tightened the tourniquet and you winced. "You rely too much on range and being able to shout at things."

A sigh caught in your chest.... He was right. You really weren't great up close. "... Yeah."

"Ohohoho backing down without a fight? Finally admitting you're not some god?" He seemed to admire his handiwork for a moment.

Was that how he thought you saw yourself?

The floor was very interesting. Probably full of splinters.... "... I never said I was a god."

"Oh please, spare me the soliloquy, Dragonborn. You let them call you Dragon-Made-Flesh. The Dragon of the North. The Child of Skyrim." He muttered as he took a seat on the floor a few feet away, each title held more vitriol than the last. "You don't have to call yourself a god. You just let people think it."

You chewed your bottom lip... he wasn't wrong. People had begun to murmur.... You tried to deny it when you could. But it had already started to spiral like a snowball down a hill, gathering strength and momentum.

"Do you even know what those titles mean, Adma'na?"

You finally looked over at him.

"Talos. They think you're the bloody incarnation of Talos. They think you're the reincarnated avatar of a false god." He spat.

You winced again. "... I can't really control what everyone else thinks of me. I've been trying to tell people but-"

"Try harder."

"Look at me, Nebs. Do you think a god, let alone THE Tyrant God-King, would be sitting here, bleeding, at your mercy? I... won't lie; I don't know what I am, but if I am a god, I'm a pretty pitiful one."

Nebarra was silent for a long while, and when he spoke again it was softly. "I'll give you that one. If you are a god, you're pretty pitiful."

"... Did you really think I saw myself as a god?"

He didn't answer.

You looked down at the bandaging on your leg.

"Well... I'm sorry if I led you to believe that.... Thank you for helping me." The corners of your lips curled up in a slight smile. "And for what it's worth, I'm glad you're here."

Funny you mention the Mars Rovers, you can find one of them during the Mars mission as an Easter Egg I think near the out of bounds of the map. I never found it myself but they’re there!

Also when looking this up to see if it was actually real it turns out people only recently found this Easter Egg back in 2021 hidden away for almost 10 years because the dev that hid it finally told everyone that it existed.

I really liked the storyline too it was great, mostly because I can’t get enough of Tali lmao. Honestly though it was fucked up seeing Legion die Mass Effect 2 companions can’t catch a break it seems.

That's a really neat easter egg, love it when the thing I'm consuming was made by people knees deep in love of their creation that they left easter eggs that no one could find without breaking the game.

And by the amount of characters dying, I'm wondering whag the fuck Andromeda is gonna be about if they've killed off everyone. Ik Kaidan is in it because I saw a mod that brings his Andromeda armor to ME3 but Ik nothing else.

The other, I will be going down the fantasy/mythical route, just deciding which way to go before I fully decide and post anything about him - because even though I do love fantasy inspired characters, I do like elements of realism - so I'm trying to make that work, lol.

Answering some Fanfiction Q's

So, I saw this post reblogged by @vorchagirl about a series of questions that was posted awhile back... instead of answering a handful, I'm just gonna answer about 20 of them. This'll be fun ^.^

The first fandom that I ever got involved with was Attack on Titan when it came to writing fanfiction - I enjoyed writing self-insert pieces with Levi Ackerman, Eren Jaeger, and Mikasa Ackerman.

2. My most recent/latest fandom would have to be Solo Leveling - I'm delving deeper and deeper into the artwork, memes, and what-not because I sincerely enjoyed binging it with my fiancé.

3. The best fandom that I've ever been involved with has been a tie between two - the people I surrounded myself with when I wrote Tokyo Ghoul fanfiction and the current community of Mass Effect writers that I speak with on a daily basis. Both are very chill and I really appreciate that.

4. I regret joining the initial community I was part of that involved half of the Attack on Titan community and another because it devolved into severe arguments and I just want to enjoy reading other stories, writing them, and speaking with other authors. Most of my first fandom community were awesome and sweet, there was just a few I was never close with and they stirred some shit up.

9. The best things in my current fandom is how chill and funny the individuals I've spoken/met and they've also been great help when I've struggled with my fics - every single one of them is awesome and I'm glad to be part of this community! Mass Effect forever!

10. So far, I've read quite a bit of fic for Fire Emblem: Three Houses and it's solely Fem!Byleth/Claude. I love so many of the characters, but Claude just keeps sneaking in and sweeping my Byleth off of her feet before I can accept the proposals from other characters lmao

I can't bring myself to read any fics involving him since it legitimately crushed me that he's usually the one that kills Thane... as time has passed, I deeply love Kaidan and Thane's romance, but I get incredibly depressed whenever Thane is killed in my playthroughs.

14. My favorite BroTP is definitely Garrus and James - the shit-talk and banter between the two of them has always made me cackle and I'm like, even if you're playing as Male!Shep and have a bromance with Garrus, it'll just become a BroT3 with Male!Shep, Garrus, and James.

15. I don't think it's too much of an obscure ship, but I genuinely think there's sexual tension of some sort between Miranda and Jack - there would definitely be hate-sex and the fact that both women are dominant in their own right, as well as biotics? Sheesh.

However, I do love the connection between Anderson and Kahlee - you can definitely sense that something is or was there, but I was genuinely hoping for something to develop because Anderson deserves to be happy too!

16. There aren't really any popular ships that I don't like within the fandom because most of the pairings are involving Fem!Shep/Bro!Shep... so, not really.

17. My first OTP was technically my first playthrough - Ásdís Shepard/Garrus Vakarian, my Spacer War-Hero... where would she be without her Vakarian?

18. As of this moment, I've wrote the most for my ME: Andromeda pairing which is Lorelei Ryder and Reyes Vidal. We're creeping further into their story and I'm hoping to push through because I love this series that I've worked so hard on.

19. I really wish I could get behind the Garrus/Tali pairing, but I think a part of me still deeply loves Garrus' romance and how he'll always be with Ásdís... I like it, but I don't love the pairing.

20. I think I was a bit surprised by how much I came to love the pairing of Wrex/Bakara - I liked the pairing at the start, but with how they interact with each other and their relationship actually forms, I came to love it.

I've got one for you: How do you think the Dragonborn Squad members would react to meeting other versions of themselves? Like, whether due to timeline fuckery, somehow *clones* (jazz hands), or versions of themselves from another LDBs worldstate, or something else, as long as they're still basically the same people. Your choice on approach and which followers.

They'd all do this:

LDB: They'd be the most chill about it bc weird shit happens to them daily. They'd just complain to each other about their responsibilities and idiot friends. Then they'd go out to dinner probably.

Inigo: They would complement each other's looks and have as many competitions as possible.

Lucien: I think they'd be freaked out for a while, but once they got used to it they'd have a super long discussion comparing their lives and research.

Khash: I think they'd come up with a bunch of cool games together. They'd play "Guess What I'm Thinking" and everytime it would be the same thing and they'd just be mindblown.

Nebarra: I truly believe they'd try to kill each other.

Caryalind: I think they'd be a little uneasy at first because "Damn do I look like a Thallery." Like yea they're a hottie and they know it, but perceiving themselves for that long, seeing how they stand and move would freak each other out a bit.

Auri: They'd use this opportunity to mess with as many people as they possibly could.

Kaidan: They'd be super suspicious of each other, but if they managed to deal with it they'd train with each other.

the many faces of Regis Shepard

have I ever shared some progress pics of Regis here? not sure I have... anyway:

the first "finished and I'm totally satisfied with his sculpt" regis. he has more tan skin, no 3D beard, no tattoos, and purple eyes instead of red.

but then I saw Hairy Sheploo (the OT version, the LE version hadn't been released yet) and I loved Regis with stubble, so I thought he would've looked good with a beard,so I ripped it and added it to his hair mod. and then I also started to tweak a few things. made his skin closer to my skin tone, and decided to try out red eyes since I was leaning into the whole renegade vibes with him.

the tattoos and piercings came about around the same time... I think some people were talking about it on MEM and I figured I could do it with the custom shep framework... so I did. grabbed both his neck tattoos (yeah, there's one on the back, I don't show it much, it's the same symbol on the front of his main armor) from a bayonetta 3 post that made pngs of the demon symbols, and the piercings came from cp2077.

and then comes the scarf from one of my fave MEA armors. I first added it to the ME2 heavy armor, but later decided to make Kaidan's armor his main since one, it's one of my favorite armors in the series, and two, I wanted him and Kaidan to match.

and thus Regis Shepard as we know and love him today was born. took me a few months of on and off work to get him to where he is today, but I'm very happy with him and don't plan to make any other major changes.

but one thing I did change somewhat recently was changing the renegade scars to be cyberpunk themed instead. one, it looks cool, and two, it's a way to show off his cybernetics education canonically and to reclaim a part of himself that was forever changed by cerberus.

so yeah, he's been through a lot (and that's not counting his many jank progress pics, those may not see the light of day lmao) but I'm extremely proud of how he turned out as my gateway to modding. if it wasn't for him and the custom shep framework, I don't think I would have ever started making mods.

new chapter of the tokrev spin off is out and i'm beside myself asfgjskjf

god, chifuyu defending ryusei has gotta be one of my fav moments. not only bc it depicts the way their friendship has evolved (even though i am 120% sure chifuyu would do the same for anyone, he's just so fucking kind and made of sunshine like that) because chifuyu calls him a friend here, and i'm,,,,, so emotional about that ༎ຶ⁠‿⁠༎ຶ

we also have, of course, baji coming to rescue chifuyu them and getting his badass moment, couldn't be otherwise

(even if i really wanted chifuyu and ryusei getting out of there alone and together, sob)

also man rlly be out here playing chifuyu's knight in shining armour, literally has me sobbing (crying screaming throwing up)

we also got childhood friends kojiro and ryusei and i just fucking know ryusei's gonna do some shit about the yotsuya kaidan bc istg this always happens in the shonens and he's gonna leave the tokyo manji and that's why he's not in the main story and now i wanna cry—

also kojiro seems to have some fucking yandere vibes and obsession with ryusei going on from the dialogue and he's giving me valhalla kazutora vibes lmao

i also rlly wanna know how he'll pass his post onto chifuyu god the possibilities (⁠ ⁠；⁠∀⁠；⁠)

anyways chifuyu's so fucking stunning this chapter. truly one of my favs about him alskaldj he fought for ryusei, unlocked his Tragic Backstory™, got rescued by his bf, truly the mvp living his shoujo gang life out there

i'm excited to see the three of them teaming up and kicking ass, so we'll see how it goes
