So basically I made a Rottmnt x Monsterverse crossover AU I’m calling Rise of the Ancient Kaiju Turtles (RotAKT AU for short). It takes place in the Legendary Monsterverse movies in which the turtles take the place of the kaiju. This is my design for Raphael, who takes Godzilla’s place. I’ll be drawing refs for the other turtles later. More rambling about this AU below the cut

So, in this au, Raphael takes the place of Godzilla. I based his design mostly from Godzilla plus some elements from Gamera (who is a snapping turtle kaiju). Raph sports mainly Godzilla’s abilities: the ability to absorb anything nuclear and the atomic breath beam except it’s red. I decided not to give most of Raph her cannon ninpo powers like he does in Rottmnt mainly because she’s already huge, her hide plus shell is already extremely durable, and keeping the cloning ability would make him a bit too overpowered. However, he can create limb projections that are not attached to her body (as show in the doodles).

Also if you haven’t already noticed, Raph is bi-gender. And before you say anything, technically Godzilla is intersex anyways and can reproduce asexually (example: Godzilla Jr appearing out of nowhere without another adult of Godzilla’s species around) so I don’t wanna hear it.

More things to note is that Raph is Godzilla’s age which is like over 250 million years old and he’s the oldest of her adopted siblings. (Note: I say adopted because even though they are all part turtle, none of them actually share genetic makeup, but treat each other as siblings anyways because they’re all the only one of their species alive and other turtle-like kaiju is the closest they are gonna get.) Raph took over as alpha Titan after her predecessor and parent, Dagon (the skeleton found in Godzilla 2014), died at the hands of the parasitic Kraang (the MUTOs is this AU) to which Raph plus other kaiju were barely able to beat them into hibernation. Over the following years, it’s Raph’s duty as alpha to make sure the balance of nature remains. So he doesn’t pay much attention to humans when ancient human civilizations start appearing since they aren’t causing any causing any problems.

Ancient humans made cave paintings of the kaijus and giving her the name Rapheal which means “God has healed” after seeing how Raph’s radiation helps the environment and believing all kaiju are gods. Yes, this means the renaissance artists were NAMED AFTER the turtle kaiju siblings, not the other way around. Ancient civilizations also called Raph the King/Queen of monsters depending on how she was depicted in their culture.

After Raph is rudely awoken up from deep hibernation in 2014 from a nuclear explosion, she’s a bit confused to find how developed human civilization has gotten and how they’re basically everywhere on the planet. He still goes to defeat the awoken male and female Kraang (aka male and female MUTOs) before they reproduce in Boston. In 2019, the eco-terrorist humans had managed to find all the alien pieces of armor and bring back the Shredder (aka Ghidorah) which leads Raph to wake up her siblings from hibernation to help defeat him.

Raph is cautious towards humans and doesn’t completely understand why they tried to almost kill him, but Mikey makes her realize not all humans are bad through introducing Raph to April (aka Madison in this AU). I write more on this AU as I complete the rest of the ref sheets.

Experiment 03 - P.U.R.P.L.E.

P.U.R.P.L.E. was created using the DNA of a Spiny Soft-shell Turtle. An exoskeleton-like armor covers his vulnerable shell. He prefers the waters and damp areas of New York, often burrowing himself wherever he can find soft land. He is docile, but if he is disturbed from his rest then he is extremely dangerous and anyone in the area must leave. He has a close bond with B.L.U.E., despite their constant fighting.

All other information based on P.U.R.P.L.E. was destroyed in the winter of ‘05 in the lab’s great fire. End log.

Leo followed his reptilian friend through the dark alleyways of New York. He could barely see his own hand, but the mutant ahead of him seemed to know exactly where he was going.

Kai turned his head to see if the slider was still following. He was. He let out a short sigh. “I normally don’t bring anyone here.” He started. “But I feel that I can trust you, Lee…”

Putting on his usual demeanor, Leo crossed his arms behind his head and smirked. “Bringing me somewhere private in the dingy alleyways? I’m interested~” he flirted.

As usual, Kai wasn’t amused. “Please, try and be serious. This place is very special to me.”

He toned it down a notch, but his smirk remained on his face. “I’m the most serious mutant of the sewers. Your secret place is safe with this guy.” He pointed his thumb towards himself.

Giving an unsure nod, Kai led him forward into another set of alleyways that brought them to a small, overgrown plot. It was sandwiched between two apartment complexes, and shaded away from the rest of the world. The only light peering into the garden was partially shielded by the large oak grown in the center of the plot. Various flowers had grown from the ground, dull, but alive.

Leo ran his fingers through the tall reeds. He felt a sense of comfort by being here. The noises of the city did little to make their way to the small haven Kai led him to. 

Kai breathed in the floral aroma emitted by the flowers. “I wasn’t always in company with birds.” He told his friend. “When I ran away from my home, I brought my little sister with me. She found this place, and planted these flowers when they were seeds.” He solemnly stared at a wooden cross dug into the grass.

The red eared slider gazed at the cross. He stepped forward to wrap his lean arms around Kai’s waist. “I’m… sorry…” he muttered. He rested his chin on his shoulder.

Kai sat down at the grave. “Lily loved flowers, and wanted to be a princess in a castle when she grew up- the kind of stuff that little girls liked. She couldn’t hear or see well, but flowers were so colorful, she thought they were the most beautiful things in the world.” He faintly smiled. It soon faded. “From the minute she came out of the egg, she was very weak. Despite this, she believed in herself that she would be able to become strong one day…”

Leo nodded along with his story, listening to how he talked about Lily. He also listened to his heart beat to different tunes when it came to different stories.

“How did she…?”

A small tear ran down his cheek. Kai rubbed it away with a shaky sigh. He tried his best to stay nonchalant, but his sister was always the fault in his armor of steel. “A few years ago, I went into the sewers to escape some thugs. I told Lily to stay where she was, but she wanted to be with me.” He narrowed his eyes. “I didn’t know that the drains were being flooded, and before we could get to safety, she…”

The turtle pushed close against Kai. He felt his heart sink as he began to catch on to what happened.

The mutant lizard clenched his fists, and the mane of feathers on his head stood on end. “The sewers swallowed her up, along with the pursuers that I tried to shake off my tail. If I had known!…” he growled. “Then I wouldn’t have lost my baby sister. I… I didn’t even have a body to bury, only the ghosts and whispers that never go away.”

“Kaiju…”

“When you invited me to join your family in swimming in the sewers, I lied about having stuff to do. I just couldn’t bear to go back into the sewers that killed Lily- and cause a scene.” He lowered his head in shame. “I already see her in the corners of my eyes, drawing on the wall as my eyelids fall. I can’t go back in there, or it just might break me.”

Leo nuzzled his beak against Kai’s cheek affectionately. “It’s ok, mi amigo. I get it. You don’t need to justify not wanting to go into the sewers.” He played with the red feathers pinned into his skin. “I want you to know that I’m here for you.”

Kai nodded. His feathers slipped out from between Leo’s fingers. “I know that. It’s just that for so long, it was just me and my birds. They keep me grounded, and remind me that those voices aren’t real. After so long, it’s hard to fathom that I’m not dreaming.” A contented sigh seeped from his maw as Leon ran his fingers through his feathers.

The turtle rested his head on his shoulder. “I think you should see someone for your hallucid-ations. It’s not normal to hear and see things.”

“Hallucinations, bud,” Kai corrected him. “And how can I do that when the only doctors around here would freak out at the sight of me?”

“There are yokai doctors too.”

“In the hidden city? No. I told myself that I would never go back there again. I would be walking into a nest of serpents by doing that…”

Leo hummed in acknowledgment. “Then I’ll see if Donnie knows anything about your condition. He knows everything, and can figure something out.”

Kai knitted his scaly eyebrows. “Why do you care so much? I don’t want you to be burdened by my broken mind.”

Leonardo tilted Kai’s head to face his. He placed a brief kiss on his muzzle. A faint blush graced his snout. “Because I care about you. Believe it or not, you’re one of the most normal people I know.”

“I hardly believe that.”

“It’s true!” Leo laughed. “My dad is an ex-movie star turned sewer rat with ninja skills. My other dad was an evil scientist that wanted to destroy humanity using mutants. Then there’s April-”

Kai smirked. “Ok. I get it.” He let out a sigh as he leaned back. 

The slider grinned. “And you’re sure that we can’t have some fun in this super secret, private place.”

“Not in my sister’s garden,” Kai responded as he shot a glare at Leon.

“Gotcha.”

Ight Mikey time! It is highly recommended that you read the lore I put in the comments on Raph’s post before reading this! So, in this au, Mikey takes place of Mothra. This was actually quite challenging figuring out how to blend box turtle AND moth anatomy but I’m pretty happy with the result. I made it so Mikey’s shell has natural holes where his wings connect to her shoulder blades. Some notes about design to add is that I based the wing design purely on Mothra’s wing design plus some tiger moth images (you do not wanna know the amount of moth references I have saved). Plus I made Mikey’s limbs more parallel with Mothra including the claws Mothra has on her front limbs but made Mikey’s front most limbs his usual hands.

Just to clear some confusion before I start lore rambling: like most kaiju in this au, Mikey’s species is intersex and reproduces asexually. She uses any and all pronouns in this au. Also, I know some people ship Mothra and Godzilla, but Mikey and Raph are still considered siblings here so please do not ship them (aka tc*st DNI), thank you.

Of his siblings, Mikey is smallest, weakest (physically), and youngest of the four kaiju turtles. But that’s not say he should be underestimated. Xe is still ancient compared to human civilizations. They are only younger than the twins by a 100 years and younger than Raph by 2,000 years (that’s not a lot considering titan lifespans). Mikey’s body was built for grace and speed while air borne, but not for front on attacks. Mikey’s wings or body could easily be torn or damaged in battles with other kaiju if she isn’t careful. Although, not to worry because Mikey sports Mothra’s signature ability: the ability to be reborn but in a more different way. Instead of Mothra’s ability to simply hatch from previously laid egg and go through larval plus cocoon stages (though they can lay an egg for his next of kin), Mikey has a phoenix regeneration ability. In the event that Mikey is severely injured or killed, xer body will burst into flames until she is a giant pile of mystic ash. During this period, Mikey’s soul is in a sort of limbo between life and death until they naturally regenerate enough mystic energy to reform himself from the ashes.

That’s another thing to note: that while Mikey may not be physically strong, he is the most connected to their ninpo powers than his siblings. Through her ninpo, Mikey has the ability to summon a numerous amount of mystic chains at a time, shoot mystic fire, reduce the weight of objects while chains are wrapped around them, and perform a “God Ray” ability. The “God Ray” ability (also affectionately dubbed “the living sun” by humans) makes Mikey’s wings light up to an extreme amount for a few seconds. It’s so bright that it would be the equivalent to staring at the sun. This ability is effective for blinding opponents temporarily so that the opponent will be rendered off guard to a following attack, but this move does take a lot of ninpo energy to pull off. 

Smaller kaiju, like Mikey’s species, have the special ability to create mystic symbiotic bonds with kaiju larger and physically stronger than them. A symbiotic bond means ninpo (which I should’ve probably mentioned before is mystical atomic power that all kaiju possess) and emotions can be shared between the bonded kaiju. This bond does come with the price though: the death of one bond means the surviving bond must live their life with the phantom pain. While Mikey can regenerate from fatal injuries (which does not count as death in the symbiotic bond because xer soul is still intact), other kaiju cannot. It is common for kaiju in a bond to simply off themself after the death of their bond partner to avoid this fate. Mikey’s parent and predecessor, Mosura, had a symbiotic relationship with Dagon (if you remember, this is Raph’s parent) and ended her life alongside Dagon. Mikey, soon after Raph dawned the title of alpha titan, created a symbiotic bond with Raph that Raph readily agreed to. Mikey would later extend the bond to Leo and Donnie.

As human civilizations started appearing over time, Mikey was the one who was the most involved with them. Xe was fascinated by the complexity of these small intelligent creatures and would sometimes communicate telepathically with humans through directing his ninpo to flow through the human xe was try to talk to. (All kaiju communicate telepathically. Humans just can’t understand them because they don’t have ninpo.) Because of this, ancient civilizations gave him the name Michelangelo which means “the messenger who is like God”.

When Mikey is awoken by Raph from hibernation in 2019 to defeat the Shredder, he meets April who is the daughter of one of lead scientists. Mikey attempts to talk to April telepathically, but the base is soon infiltrated by the eco-terrorist organization and Mikey flies away. She is surprised by the human developments during their hibernation, but more so amazed by human’s innovative inventions that remind him of Donnie’s ninpo. Mikey firmly believes in cooperative coexistence with humans where most kaiju, including her own siblings, are skeptical of humans. Once the battle with Shredder in Boston is over and Mikey regenerates, xe seeks out April through the small amount of ninpo he left on her. Mikey and April form a friendship to which April becomes a human ambassador to titans for Monarch.

Damn this section was longer than the first so hope you understood all that ahaaa. Again, I will add more lore as I finish more ref sheets.
