"The NeverEnding Story" is the title song from the English version of the 1984 film The NeverEnding Story. It was produced and composed by Italian musician Giorgio Moroder and performed by English pop singer Limahl. He released two versions of the song, one in English and one in French. The English version featured vocals by Beth Andersen, and the French version, "L'Histoire Sans Fin", featured vocals by Ann Calvert. So I was tagged by @vomitpinata and here are 4 albums I've been listening to a lot lately. For whatever reason, I'm on a pop/electronic/80s science fiction kick, so here's the albums on repeat.

Giorgio Moroder is represented here twice, as half of the soundtrack to The NeverEnding Story (although I honestly love Klaus Doldinger's half more) and his great soundtrack for his own cut/restoration of Fritz Lang's Metropolis. That version got a lot of flack when I was a kid, but it was the first version I ever saw and, for a time, the most complete version. (Also, calm down, Metropolis has survived almost a century, it survived having Billy Squier and Freddie Mercury songs in it.) Isao Tomita's Greatest Hits comprises some groundbreaking and clever electronic covers of mostly classical music, and lastly, Toto's soundtrack to Dune. I keep going back to the 1984 version of Dune (I honestly hated the recent version, like, a lot), and the music is some of my favorite. I was a kid in this time period, a period of strange electronic fantasy music, and I guess I've just been missing it lately. I've got so many similar things going right now, too, and most of them are soundtracks (Labyrinth, Heavy Metal, Transformers: The Movie). I guess I'm just enjoying being 10 again for a while.
