LIFE PLAYERZ ONLY
as with the prev polls: if you consider multiple, i suggest going for the one u feel aligned with currently/most often, which one u wanna represent in a poll like this, whichever has the most compelling role/narrative, whatever works for U. classpecting is very subjective, and fluid for a lot of people.
i actively encourage discussion in the notes or my inbox of what your class and aspect mean to u. simple or lengthy, i wanna hear it :J
excluding master classes bc no space for em, sorry.
for those who cant vote: i’d appreciate u passing the poll along. also, i’ll post updates throughout the week on how it’s going so everyone can have a peek inside. thank u

Knights & Pages: Deficiency and Exploitation
Well, then... here we are.
A day in delay, I'm aware; but I'm afraid I can't always be accounting for extraneous real-life factors. My apologies.
The Knight:Page class dichotomy embodies deficiency, exploitation and arguably compensation as well. They imbue their Aspect into their fighting prowess, utilise it both as a weapon and a tool, and often use it to constitute a shield as well. (Literally and metaphorically).
The presence of either (or both) of these classes also functions as a signal; as by their very nature, they exist to compensate for a deficiency in their Aspect within their session proper.
Canonical Knight players are Dave Strider (Knight of Time), Karkat Vantas (Knight of Blood) and Latula Pyrope (Knight of Mind).
Canonical Page players are Jake English (Page of Hope), Tavros Nitram (Page of Breath) and Horuss Zahhak (Page of Void).
So, Point A. The narrative function of the Knight.
Narratively speaking, the Knight is one who defends their Aspect; and uses it as a defense in turn. They are defined by maintaining a rigid facade, born of their Aspect and used to hide a perceived deficiency in it. Their Aspect is their sword and their shield, and this oft manifests as a deep-seated insecurity.
Dave's insecurity is with his masculinity, mortality and conception of 'heroism'. Karkat's insecurity is with the colour of his blood, his fear of ostracisation and social exile. Latula's insecurity is less clear-cut, but the most prevalent theory is that the injury that rendered her anosmic also left her with brain damage.
Thus, we see here that their fear comes from lacking in their Aspect. Dave lacks confidence in his ability to face closure & his projections of masculinity (something he misconstrues with heroism). Dave doesn't want a great destiny; he wants to be a normal guy who lives a normal life and dies a normal death. He's essentially a tutorial NPC thrust into plot bullshit after plot bullshit.
Karkat lacks confidence in his sense of self caused by his mutant blood and his persistent fear of social ostracisation and subsequent death should his status be exposed. One could also argue it is a disillusionment with the Alternian social order that he does not fit into by design, but feels he must follow anyways (hence his ass-kissing dreams of threschecutioner greatness).
(Here's where the conjecture comes in...)
Latula lacks confidence in her capacity for rational thought and ability to use logic for her own (and others') defense. If we're going with the TBI narrative for her, she feels as if she lacks intelligence as a result. Tying into Latula's commentary on the misogyny in online gaming circles and we get a girl who is deeply, deeply terrified of rising above her station and displaying an intellect.
So, Dave pretends to be a self-assured, chauvinistic 'cool kid'.
Karkat pretends to be a bossy, self-righteous 'perfect leader'.
Latula pretends to be an air-headed, radical 'gamer chick'.
All of them deny themselves depth and identity for the explicit purpose of denying people the right to know them on a deeper level.
Let's simplify this - Knights feel they lack their Aspect and compensate for it. End of.
Here's where the dramatic irony comes in; Knights are the only people in their session who are proficient with their Aspect at all. Dave is the only Beta Kid concerned with Time management, Karkat is the only Beta Troll concerned with maintaining social order and collaboration, Latula is the only Alpha Troll concerned with logical thought and logical argument.
Because the Beta Kids lack Time on their side, the Beta Trolls lack Blood to bind them together, and the Alpha Trolls lack Mind to... well, to be totally blunt, to use their fucking brains.
(The Beta Kids' lack of Time being tied moreso to the nature of their Game as opposed to the nature of themselves is absolutely a matter of Lunar Sway, by the way).
That's what they need to learn, and subsequently use their Aspect to defend. Dave defending his co-players from certain death and entropy, Karkat defending his co-players from turning on eachother and descending into conflict, Latula defending Mituna from disbelief and abuse through logical counterargument.
Here, we're dovetailing directly into Point B - practical function.
We're all caught up in flowery metaphors and abstract conceptions, but how does this translate to a literal function within SBURB?
Simple. The Knight imbues, exploits and weaponises their Aspect. They don't generate it or control it in any way - that's the caveat of their function. Knights must exploit an already existing well of their Aspect and use that minimal supply to the best of their abilities.
It's the literal manifestation of their abilities for compensation! They have to merely 'make do' with what's available. After all - if there was an influx of their Aspect to work with, there wouldn't be a deficiency to combat.
This journey ties into their narrative function as learning to use it and defend through it also comes with dropping the mask and putting down your sword every once in a while. We don't ever get to see this fully with Latula, unfortunately, but we see Dave and Karkat (through means of eachother, actually) learn to relax in eachothers' presence and drop some of their unhealthy preconceptions.
Now, let's go on to the Pages!
Point C - narrative function.
Pages function in much the same way as Knights on a base level - existing to cover for an existing deficit in their session by virtue of compensation. The difference, obviously, comes in their passivity - and their different manifestation of their Aspect which more directly feels to be a shield as opposed to a sword.
Pages turn the Knights' overcompensation on its' head. Like Knights, they too believe their lack their Aspect, and thus project an image of possessing an influx of it. The difference is that Pages... actually do have that deficiency.
Jake lacks Hope. He lacks faith in himself, lacks the belief in his own capacity to bring a better future and finds it difficult to hold onto his convictions when the going gets tough.
Tavros lacks Breath. He lacks a direction or an objective to follow, lacks freedom by virtue of his disability and Vriska's control of his life. He prefers to avoid things and run away from problems.
Horuss lacks Void. He lacks the ability to cope with imperfection and the fact he doesn't know things. He can't deal with being absent or bereft of purpose.
And, likewise, their sessions lack their Aspect as well in equal measure!
The Alpha Kids lack Hope in the same manner - they don't have the motivation to keep going and find themselves falling into depression and passivity. Dirk even lampshades this!
The Beta Trolls lack Breath - none of them have freedom to choose their own destinies due to oppressive Alternian society and thus fall into the trappings of the roles laid out before them.
The Alpha Trolls lack Void - the teenage echo chamber of drama and gossip denies anybody the right to secrecy or privacy, and their presence in the dreambubbles forces them into proximity and furthers this absence.
Now, it's a common conception that this absence means a Page is weak by default, or outright useless. I absolutely abhor this notion. A Page is not the 'weakling' class - they merely rely upon guidance.
For Jake, it's his fantasies. His masks. His projections of heroism and adventure - and Brain Ghost Dirk is the literal manifestation.
For Tavros, it's his false confidence. It's his assurance that he can stand up for himself and fly to safety should the going get tough - and Rufio is the literal manifestation.
For Horuss, it's his 'renaissance man' projection. It's his showcase of absolute perfection and ideal highblooded taste - and his alters and therian identity are the literal manifestation. (However poorly executed it was, and oh boy was it poorly executed and oh boy was it ableist.)
For this, they're prone to subsequently use their Aspect as a defense mechanism in a more passive manner than the acerbic Knights who prefer to fight with it.
Jake hides behind his fantasies, Tavros runs away from everything he can't face and Horuss pretends he can't hear the sound of Rufioh breaking up with him.
And, of course, as everyone will tell you - this comes with a vast well of potential. Pages are not uniquely powerful or the 'strongest class' like some people would have you believe, but it is true that upon undergoing development, they become incredibly confident in that Aspect. It just happens to be a long journey that no Page fully completes on-screen.
It is learning to accept their own lack of proficiency with their Aspect, drop the mask and begin forging a more genuine relationship with it. Knights must learn to relax, Pages must learn to stop relaxing. It's almost like a little inversion of their active:passive roles, if you want to see it like that!
Point D. Practical function.
Pages... yeah, this is really fucking obvious. Look at Jake. Look at that thing he does. You know? The gigantic shield of pure Hope energy he generates when his full potential is tapped into.
That's what a Page does. They tap into the well of their Aspect to use it as a great shield, making their defense of themselves through their Aspect literal. And, yeah, that's pretty goddamn powerful!
It's like they're meant to embody the little 'sidekick' role in shonen. Koichi Hirose. Koichi Hirose is a Page.
So, there we have it. The classes of compensation. I'll be putting out individual analyses of all of these class combinations soon-ish once the main seven posts are out, so be looking forward to that! I'll be back with you soon wiht the second part of this: Mages and Seers.
And that should be fun, 'cause I am one.
Take care.

Your name is TELEDE CASTER. And here you find yourself fresh off THE BENCH, you are absolutely FEELING THE BURN of YOUR WORKOUT, and sweaty. You EXERCISE not just because you KNOW AN IMPRESSIVE AMOUNT OF TROLLS THAT FIND YOU ATTRACTIVE, but also because of your LIFE THREATENING PSIONIC ISSUES. You work out because that’s the only way you can really defend yourself if something were to happen, with even the slightest activation by being in a tough spot your THINK-PAN COULD COMPLETELY MELTDOWN and SEEP OUT OF YOUR EYE SOCKETS. But can also debilitate you by causing FATIGUE in YOUR LIMBS AND COGNITIVE ABILITY, which had happened more than the other option so you DON’T THINK ABOUT THE FORMER OFFEN.
To help with the recovery process of those ailments, you were prescribed AUTHENTIC MEDICAL CANNABIS, eases your headaches and energies you when needed…You still ENJOY SMOKING IT AS IT IS in your MANY COLLECTIBLE BONGS, just to spice up nights and ease tension with playing on stage. Speaking of, you are the LEAD SINGER and GUITARIST of your PUNK ROCK band “WHO ARE THOSE MUTANTS ON STAGE?!” A marginally popular group in low blood spaces that are repressed by the dictatorship rule of the VIOLET OVERLORD, calling out the SERIOUSLY MESSED UP treatment of low bloods, especially of GOLD BLOODS like YOURSELF, thinking about it makes your skin crawl.
You collect a wide amount of BAND MEMORABILIA and MUSIC from your favorite groups and display them across your HIVE, along with a ADMITTEDLY EMBARRASSING shelf of RED ROMANCE NOVELS, though they are rarely the sappy kind, you are far to much of a CHARISMATIC PLAYBOY to be having your blood-pusher strings tugged at by some ooshy-gooshy writing…But you do self indulge sometimes, just a bit.
You live in an average sized HIVE, full of everything you need to survive and live just peachy, well, as a LOWBLOOD. Your ROOMMATE/BANDMATE/MOIRAIL also lives with you! His living quarters were built by you a long time ago, it’s still holding together thankfully, though AMATEUR ARCHITECTURE was never your strong suit, ironic.
Your trolltag is cannabisAnarchist and you typE in A sortA mEloDiCAl kinDA wAy. [The natural musical alphabet capitalized: A, B, C, D, E, F, and G.] —————————————🎸——————————————

Not a Classpecting request, but I would like to ask for a bit of feedback on something, if that's ok with you. I'm writing a fan-comic, with these classpects being used in the story.
Prince of Time
Seer of Space
Page of Rage
Sylph of Hope
Knight of Life
Rogue of Light
Mage of Heart
Heir of Blood Do you think this is an interesting lineup? Within the way you view / define Classpects.
Oh very much so, yes!!! And I hope you won't mind if I give a very brief blurb for each one: The Time Prince has the potential for a lot of interesting growth with learning to remove factors that lead to defeat/something horrible happening to the team, while also having the remarkable power of destroying unnecessary Timelines or Timeclones/Alternates who seek to infiltrate the Session or mess with it in some way (think of a Soulbot inhabited by a Doomed player that's bitter about their own Session's failure and tries to intentionally sabatoge the Alpha Session!) The Space Seer's also interesting seeing as they'll basically be able to do what Jade's Compusooth SpectaGoggles did (see the entirety of the Incipisphere at once) as well as being able to look at something, organic or otherwise, and be able to tell its components. (Think Strawberry Crepe Cookie from Cookie Run Kingdom!) The Rage Page would have to learn that being angry is a valid thing to do, and that the right type of anger in the right amount would be able to move mountains and the hearts of entire armies. The Hope Sylph is also interesting, being able to heal someone's Hope and therefore their ability to fully trust in an idea, cause, or person (though they wouldn't be able to control the intensity of belief. If someone's casually religious they couldn't whip them into a frenzy). I love Life Knights because they have the potential to push their physical body to the utmost of its ability, being able to make that extra jump, throw that ogre across the battlefield, or pull the sword from the stone. They'd be able to help others with making the most out of their personal growth, helping them by encouraging them to make the most out of what their individual Land Quests are meant to teach them. I ADORE Light Rogues, they have the potential to not only steal luck for the sake of others but also important intelligence the enemy might have, as well as physical light itself! Only the Rogue's team would be able to see in a pitch-black room, they would know the movements of the enemy, and thanks to the Rogue they would know how best to counter enemy tactics in a way that best benefits the team! Mage of Heart!! :D!! Someone who gets to learn the intrinsics of the Soul and Self and how they operate, being able to utelize their knowledge of selves and how they interact with one another (relationships). One interesting example is the Mage of Heart could use their power and see how the Black Queen acts with administrative impunity, leaving the Black King to handle militant affairs. They would know that the Black Queen is the true threat before the Reckoning begins and would be able to turn the hearts of Dersites against their Queen with subtle manipulations tailored to the individual Dersian. And finally, the Heir of Blood! Someone who is influenced heavily by Bonds, Loyalty, Friendship, and Promises. Very likely to be someone who embodies friendship and harmony to their friends, being seen as the pin holding the boat together (whether intentionally or not). Whether they are a positive or negative influence on their session, the Heir of Blood will certainly be a very interesting player to watch the growth of!!

omg hi i'm here for a session analysis (no rush tho dw) we've got a derse Page of Time, prospit Mage of Space, prospit Knight of Life, prospit Rogue of Blood, and a derse Prince of Rage (ps keep up the great work 👍)
this session is going to be on the struggle bus!!!
a page of time? working with a mage of space to make a genesis frog? GOOD LUCK. its going to take them AGES, especially long if the page can't manage to properly tap into their time power.
a knight of life is actually a fairly good healer to have? i wouldnt say theyre up there with maid or sylph, but i do definitely think they're at LEAST a tier
rogue of blood is going to be very awkward at potentially leading their team. i think they're a good fit TO guide the team, but they've got to REALLY tap into it and embrace their potential.
the prince of rage can be very hit or miss. but i mean hey, at least they'll destroy chaos and negativity...? ha...ha...

A hypothetical god tier for Preston Garvey from Fallout: the Knight of Life.
A Knight of Life is among those who use energy to influence. They are motivated by themselves to utilize growth. (x) The Knight of Life puts on a front to hide an insecurity and keeps trying even if they fail. (x) They are the Defender Child, defined by guarded growth. (x) Their opposite is the Page of Doom. Their inverse is the Rogue of Doom. They share their personality with the Heir of Doom. The Knight of Life would quest on a planet similar to the Land of Haze and Life, reigned over by Hebe (Goddess of Youth) or Asclepius (God of Medicine). They would rise to ascension on the wings of butterflies. (x)(x)(x)

Hai 383! Can I plz have a fraymotif 4 a maid of heart, mage of time, and knight of life? :3
Hai :33! Yes you can!
Seeds of Arpeggiated Assault
Knight of Life [one who protects and protects through life, growth, and progression] + Mage of Time [one who understands and understands through time, change, and activity] + Maid of Heart [one who serves and serves through emotion, essence, and the self]
Seeds (the start of something; and idea; from which a plant grows) + Arpeggiated (a chord that is separated into its constituent notes, played one after another) + Assault (make a physical attack on something)
The Maid works with the Mage to conjure many versions of the Mage from many different points in the Mage's own timeline, ranging from kid to adult (anyone of them in the ballpark of ancient god could just shrug it off and refuse to be summoned). With the many Mages, they create stable time-loops within stable time-loops until the battlefield is swarming with them. Through the confusion, the Knight attacks the Target. They are aided by any number of Mages who keep the Target off-balance. Whenever the Target would go to strike at a Mage, the Knight would protect the Mage's past selves by causing that one to temporarily age up into a version that could block or evade the attack, keeping an untimely death from interrupting the alpha Mage's timestream. The Maid aligns the various Mages' self-perception to a point where the Mages collectively achieve a level understanding just shy of Ultimate Self, and with the Knight keeping the Mage's past from being interrupted by inconveniences such as death or disfigurement in order to protect the progress the Mage has made through their life, the Mage experiences themself attack the Target at every point in their life. This complete, unified front blasts the Target completely with Time magic, ending the Fraymotif with the past and future Mages returning to their respective times. The Maid stops the realization and alignment of self, and the Knight allows the afflicted alternate Mages to revert back to their original ages.
I know it seems like the Knight isn't doing much, but if any of the Mage's past-selves get attacked, that would then reflect on all Mages that come from a later point in time, so having them protect the growth and progress of the Mage is really important, and is exactly the kind of insurance that the Mage needs in order to safely make so many of themself. And the Maid is there to sort of straighten out all the different instances of the Mage to make them work better together as a singular, unified force. I hope you enjoy!

OMORI Classpecting post, Part 2
(See Part 1 for Basil, Mari, and Sunny)
Hero is a Knight of Life (gives Life for others)
Knights give all that they have for others. They want to be rocks of stability for their friends to rely on, and their aspect is their armor. This should sound familiar to Hero, the protective older brother with world-sized expectations on his back.
Life is the aspect of growth and power in positive force, in opposition to Doom, the aspect of cost, decay and restriction. Both of Hero's occupational interests reflect this; a chef, giving others food to keep them strong and happy, and a doctor, giving others medicine to keep them strong and happy. It's made somewhat clear that he prefers the former option; When Mari's influence is present, she seems to encourage him toward the former, because she knows it's what he loves. Unfortunately, Hero's self-sacrificial tendencies push him toward the latter.
Kel is an Heir of Breath (changes Breath for others)
Heirs are essentially "the hero who solves others' problems for them," or at least, that's how they think of themselves. Kel is always looking for ways to help others, and he definitely sees himself as a friendly, good-natured problem solver. He can also be very stubborn, and when others take issue with him taking control of the situation, he has a hard time not seeing them as just being misguided. Most visible in his disagreements with Aubrey in Faraway Town.
Heirs also change themselves for others, wearing a mask of what they think others need them to be. He doesn't fight against his parents' and others' view of him as essentially the lesser sibling compared to Hero, as much as it hurts him emotionally; he just goes with the flow and helps them out however he can.
Breath is the aspect of disconnection, avoidance, and freedom. I've seen some readings of Kel that give him the Blood aspect, the aspect of connection, unity, and groundedness. When times get tough for his friend group, Kel doesn't say "we all need to stick together"- he's the first to move on with his life, to disconnect from the problems everyone is facing together. He just doesn't get why everyone else didn't keep moving forward with him. He does care a lot about his friends, about his bonds, but what he really wants is for all of them to finally move on, as comes so naturally to him.
Aubrey is a Witch of Rage (changes Rage for herself)
Witches are troublemakers, through and through. Witches "change" their aspect for themselves, which means breaking the mold. Witches also change themselves through their aspect for their own means; Aubrey acts like she's hardened to the traumas of the world, acts real tough, but in the end she really just wants friends who care about her.
Rage is the aspect of absoluteness, determination, and hard truths, in opposition to Hope, the aspect of faith, ideals, and pretty lies. Aubrey is the bearer of hard truths, and she's not afraid to weaponize them for her own sake. She takes out her anger on the world around her, and on her old friends, because she's upset that they don't understand how hurt she was, and she thinks they left her behind rather than facing the hard truth of the reason why they split up. She's wrong about some of them, but not all of them.
(See Part 1 for Basil, Mari, and Sunny)
