THE BARD OF LIFE

The Bard of Life is someone who is closed off and reserved at first, they don’t have many friends or people close to them, but they prefer it this way so that they can relax in their own solitude. They might seem overly cautious or pessimistic, they strictly follow and enforce the rules, and they might come across as incredibly non-confrontational. This will change one day when the Bard might come across something that makes them want to break the rules and act out like they never had before.

The Bard of Life will have an inner awakening, and it’s at that point when their views on the world will change and they will become more inviting, more optimistic, more destructive. They invite the destruction of Life around them, they sacrifice and break the bonds and lives of those closest to them for their own gain, no matter how small or insignificant. Anything they can do to make sure that they can get ahead and win in life, they will make sure to do it.

The Bard of Life is a very Me First type of person, which is a stark contrast to many other Life players, but in the end, the Bard doesn’t really care about what sort of damage or chaos they might cause to other people in the end as long as they finish in first place.

What would a bard of life be able to do?

Well, let’s find out! Classpect No 7:

Bard of Life

Bard: Passive destruction class. One who allows the destruction of their aspect or allows their aspect to destroy. Act as a wild card in the session.

Life: Represents life, creation, and control.

A Bard of Life has led a rough life. As Bards have their aspect destroyed within themselves, a Bard of Life lacks Life. This would cause them to act like a Doom player. This means that the Bard has been used for most of their life. Death and destruction are not unknown to the Bard of Life. Maybe they were orphaned at a young age, and left in the care of an abusive guardian? Whatever has happened, it has crushed their spirit.

This would all make them a bit of a downer around their friends. I mean, it’s understandable that the Bard of Hope wouldn’t be all happy and optimistic, but they take it a bit further. They feel pretty jealous of their friends that lived happier lives than them. They may guilt these friends into feeling bad about their lives by constantly comparing the positives of their friend’s lives to the abuse of their own life. They would constantly be trying to take down the Lives of others to feel better about their own life.

However, this could all change once the Bard of Life enters the Medium. After escaping their awful situation, they can start to take control of their life. They can become a most positive, happy person. They could (and should) also apologize to their friends for being a bully to them, and they can hopefully create better relationships. As they gain more and more of the Life aspect, the Bard of Life can use it to weaken the team’s foes, making Sburb/Sgrub easier.

…. Of course, as the Bard is a wild card, the journey of the Bard of Life could go far worse. The Bard might never find Life through Sburb/Sgrub, and they instead destroy it. They go from just guilt tripping their friends to outright insulting and mocking them. They ruin all of their already damaged friendships. And as the Bard destroys literal life itself, their teammates will become weaker and weaker, unable to finish the session.

The Bard’s powers would depend on which of these two routes they follow. If they are able to obtain Life, they would be able to use their own life energy to damage their foes. They could also allow the life force of their friends to be stronger, meaning they would be harder to defeat. On the other hand, if the Bard of Life stays trapped in Doom, they would develop a harming aura that deals damage indiscriminately. They would also weaken the health of those around them, making them more susceptible to illness and disease.

as a fusion of a rogue of mind's ability to redistribute understanding, perspective, and decision-making, with a bard of life's capacity to invite or allow destruction through vitality, the resulting fraymotif, dubbed "cognition transference carnage," could manifest as a cerebral battlefield technique. it would effectively cause foes to experience an overflow of life energy tied to their own thought processes, turning their own cognitive power against them. this sudden surge of mental and vital energy would lead to an unsustainable state, resulting in foes essentially burning themselves out from the inside, their own thoughts and life force spiraling out of control.

the thing about cracking open a long-established popular ship tag on ao3 is that it allows you to be extraordinarily picky, and i think it must be the closest thing i will ever experience to being filthy rich. i scroll along at super speed like no today i am only interested in fics with this precise range of words and one of these three tags. only authors i’ve heard of, please. hmm, i suppose i could consider an unknown quantity given its apparent popularity with the people, but… no, no, this summary doesn’t do it for me. no particular reason, it’s just… eh, i don’t need to explain myself. bring me 50 more like this for me to choose from and we’ll see.
