Alexander Johan Hjalmar Skarsgård (Estocolmo, 25 de agosto de 1976) es un actor sueco.

Comenzó a actuar a los siete años pero renunció a la edad de trece. Después de servir en el ejército sueco, Skarsgård regresó a la actuación y obtuvo su primer papel en una película estadounidense en la comedia "Zoolander" (2001) y saltó a la fama al interpretar al vampiro Eric Northman en la serie de televisión "True Blood" (2008-2014).

Adam Lundgren, Björn Gustafsson, Sandra Ilar in Clark – Netflix Swedish series with Bill Skarsgård

Bill Skarsgård in the lead role. Adam Lundgren, Björn Gustafsson, Sandra Ilar and Wilhelm Blomgren. These are the actors who appear in "Clark", Netflix's new Swedish original series directed by Jonas Åkerlund.

It was in May that Netflix announced that it had ordered "Clark", a new Swedish original series of six episodes about Clark Olofsson. Jonas Åkerlund directs, while Bill Skarsgård plays the lead role. The series is produced by Scandinavian Content Group.

"Clark" is Swedish-language and is based on "Clark Olofsson's truths and lies from his autobiography" and follows Olofsson from his youth until today.

Now Netflix has confirmed that Adam Lundgren, Björn Gustafsson, Sandra Ilar and Wilhelm Blomgren will star in "Clark". The cast also includes Malin Levanon, Peter Viitanen, Hanna Björn, Isabelle Grill, Robin Nazari and Alicia Agneson. In addition: Kolbjörn Skarsgård will play Clark Olofsson as a six-year-old.

Other roles are by Linus Wahlgren, Alexander Karim, Christoffer Nordenrot, Daniel Hallberg, Rachel Mohlin, Henrik Lundström, Arja Saijonmaa, Hans Erik Dyvik Husby, Agnes Lindström, Babben Larsson, Peter Järn, Henrik Hjelt, Peter Apelgren, Staffan Kihlbom Thor, Rikard Ulvshammar, Freja Beha Erichsen, Amalie Bruun and Wilson Gonzalez.

In a statement, Jonas Åkerlund said:

"As a director, I'm always looking for strong characters, and Clark's life and story is filled with absorbing and colorful characters. It was important to find the right actor to fill these roles and I'm very happy to have this amazing cast, even for the smallest roles."

Jonas Åkerlund continues:

"The world that revolves around Clark, the people who were affected by him, who shaped him, who put him in prison, who loved him, each has his own strong personality and unique experience. I'm so glad we've brought these characters to life with an incredible cast. Without these amazing actors, we would never have been able to tell the story of how a black hole that Clark managed to attract and devour colorful individuals. They really complete the story of Stockholm Syndrome."

Fredrik Agetoft and Peter Arrhenius have written the screenplay for "Clark", while Jonas Åkerlund both writes and directs the series, which is based on the autobiography "Vafan var det hände". Börje Hansson and Patrick Sobieski are the show's producers, while Skarsgård, Åkerlund and Hans Engholm are executive producers. Mikael Åkerfeldt is responsible for the music.

In the Netflix press release, the story reads: "The notorious gangster started his criminal career in the 1960s and has become one of the most controversial personalities in modern Swedish history. Clark has spent more than half of his life behind bars, convicted of numerous crimes such as drug trafficking, attempted murder, assault, theft and dozens of bank robberies."

Furthermore: "He has also caused trauma, grief, disappointment and left traces of general devastation. In the 1970s, Clark gave rise to the concept of "Stockholm Syndrome" during a failed bank robbery in Stockholm and he has since retained his position as the celebrity criminal who tricked the Swedish people into allowing themselves to be charmed by him. Just as he wished."

There is no premiere date for "Clark" on Netflix yet.

It’s very early morning in London, yet the towering, coiffed father-of-eight is gregarious as ever, as he flits between such diverse topics as cooking, atheism, how he first met his wife, Megan, in the Shelbourne’s Horseshoe Bar (“You do meet a lot of people there”) and his late Hollywood home run.

He did balk at the House of Mouse’s standard contract that forbids actors from indulging in any behaviour that the film’s audience might find offensive.

“I was surprised that any actor would sign it but it turns out they do,” he says. “I don’t know why. The studios must protect their rights. But it’s abusive.” Skarsgård can afford to say no.

“I can get recognised by a three-year-old for Mamma Mia. And by teenagers for Thor or sometimes Nymphomaniac. I might get worried if the three-year-olds knew me from Nymphomaniac.”

“I see Lars Von Trier as my little brother and we have a lot of fun together. We have the same sense of humour, I guess.

He’s a fan, too, of how von Trier writes for women. “He has fantastic female leads and the male characters are pretty boring. But, as a vehicle for showing emotion, female characters are often better, because traditionally their emotional life has been more exposed. Men had a tendency to give the stiff upper lip and put the lid on. But we feel the same things you women do.”

That is one of the reasons that, having avoided various Scandi-crime shows, the actor was happy to sign up for the BBC detective series River.

“In the case of River, what’s going on behind the stiff upper lip was interesting to convey. And then when he encountered manifests, he could show everything. It was like playing one of Lars’ female characters.”

Skarsgård and his first wife, My, divorced after 32 years of marriage in 2007. He has subsequently remarried and has two young sons, Ossian (born in 2009) and Kolbjörn (born in 2012).

“It wasn’t much of a break, was it? And then I had to start over. I love it. What else should I do? Play golf? Also I’m different as a father now. I’m much more at ease with life and myself. It’s a great hobby.”

“It’s a parent’s job to make sure that they feel loved and worth something. And that they should be nice to people and be on time. That’s it. Then it’s good luck. They have to figure it out for themselves. And I’ll do the cooking.”

“I put in a phone call to Alexander,” says dad. “Because he had worked with Susanna on Generation Kill. Is she good? Is she nice? We don’t give advice but we do gossip. Put any four or five actors at a table and they’ll always gossip.” It’s not the first time that Skarsgård has played a Russian: he was Sean Connery’s student- turned-pursuer in The Hunt for Red October.

“That was during the Cold War when all the bad guys had to be Russian. There are not enough Swedish parts out there. I have to survive.”

Bill has seven siblings: Alexander, Gustaf, Sam, Valter, Ossian, Kolbjörn, and Eija. Three of these, Alexander, Gustaf, and Valter, are actors. Ossian and Kolbjörn are half-brothers from a later marriage between Stellan Skarsgård and Megan Everett.
