Hello, can I request Aven, Ratio and Sunday with an s/o who's like Komi from “Komi can’t communicate?” Basically, their s/o is socially anxious and finds it incredibly hard to talk but is expressive in emotions and usually communicates through writing on paper.

Also if its not too much, could you write a lil scenario in how they would react when someone says something rude about s/o’s social anxiety?

You nervously fidgeted in your seat, staring down at the half eaten sundae in front of you. The sudden announcement had spoiled your mood and appetite, feeling too uncomfortable to even eat near someone like them. You just wanted to escape the situation now before it becomes too tense.

Your ‘friend’ was about to continue what they were saying, but was interrupted by a stern voice.

“It’s harder for some people to voice their thoughts, it doesn’t always come naturally to them.”

You breathed a sigh of relief, it was Sunday. Turning to face him with a relieved expression, he understood your silent appreciation for his interjection.

“People work at their own pace, don’t try to rush them into doing something they aren’t comfortable with.” Sunday’s eyes narrowed at them, your ‘friend’ at a loss for words. “Come now, _____, a new place has opened up and I’d like to take you there.” 

Sunday had offered you his hand to help pull you up which you gratefully accepted, leaving the half eaten sundae with your friend. It was now something they would have to deal with, whether they liked it or not.

↻ Sunday would love spending time with you, bringing you to different events or to an amusement park that way you could experience the thrill of the rides

↺ He knows that if you’re lost, you start to panic, so he tries his best to never lose sight of you in crowded situations

↺ If you do end up losing him, he’ll have a family member escort you to where he; if he’s busy, he’ll have a family member accompany you whenever you go out if you aren’t comfortable doing so alone

↻ If someone were to insult or poke fun at your social anxiety, he’d be really irked and would show it passive aggressively, making sure to not confront them in front of you because he knows you would heavily discourage him

Aventurine’s ears perked up, listening in on a conversation two workers were having as you walked beside him down the hallway.

“I know. What does Aventurine even see in them?” 

They continued their conversation through hushed whispers and secretive glances. Yet Aventurine was able to hear every last comment and insult thrown at you. It made his frown deepen and brows furrow, but he knows if he did anything now you’d stop him. He’ll have to deal with the two of them later.

The next day, Aventurine was back at the casino with you by his side. As expected, he had a bountiful amount of chips on his side, proof of his winning streak. 

A new game was about to begin, and as he peered up through his rose-tinted glasses to gauge the participating opponents, he saw two familiar faces. The workers from yesterday, how fortunate for him. 

Throughout the game, a new, tense air had surrounded Aventurine, something you picked up on. He was much more competitive than before, losing his aloof demeanor and focusing on the game at hand. Was there something wrong?

Before you knew it, the game was over. Aventurine had come out victorious, watching his opponents’ faces drop at the huge sum of money they lost with a sly smirk. 

He was satisfied, for now.

↻ Sometimes I think Aventurine would overwhelm you with his antics, especially with his “all or nothing” mindset (your poor heart)

↻ I don’t think Ratio would fully understand your anxieties, as he personally never dealt with it

↺ However, he would slowly start to understand and even try asking you questions in which you can provide him a simple answer (usually yes or no questions)

↻ He begrudgingly helps you socialize with people, even though he hates to interact with idiots himself

↺ I can imagine him giving you lecture about human behavior and social relationships, which you listen to attentively but also blankly stare at him (he shakes his head at this but continues anyways)

↺ His lectures actually end up helping you understand people though, and his lessons about social skills has helped you with introducing yourself to new people 

↺ He forces Aventurine to help him with your social skills since he’s pretty upbeat and friendly 

↻ If you’ve made some improvements with social interactions, Ratio would feel pretty satisfied and happy that he helped you (he’d never tell you directly but he’d give you rewards)

↻ Being Ratio’s significant other would be interesting

↻ By this point, he probably has all your little quirks and habits memorized, knowing what may be troubling you or what caught your interest

↺ He finds your habits and actions quite endearing, it brings a soft smile to his usually stoic face

↻ Ratio likes expressing his affection for you with gifts he finds useful and interesting, recounting the history behind the item or how it was manufactured (you enjoy listening to his rambles and he’s happy that he can tell you these findings)

↻ If someone were to make a snide comment about your social anxiety, he would have zero hesitation is giving them a lecture or throwing a chalk their way

↺ He’d probably make them cry or shit themselves

“Ah, Doctor Ratio! Fancy seeing you here…” 

“I work here.” Ratio deadpanned, eyes glaring down at the two. “I couldn’t help but notice that the topic of your conversation pertained to me and my partner. I suggest that you keep your noses out of our business and quit these idiotic assumptions.” 

“I- We were just–” 

“Stop your incessant ramblings. If I hear another word about anything regarding my personal life, I will be sure to have you both taken care of. Understood?” His authoritative tone made the two girls quiver in their spot, nodding their heads frantically. 

Ratio turned to leave, making his way back to you who was sitting on a nearby bench staring at the ground. At the sound of his footsteps, you looked back up at him, getting up from your seat.

“Are you..ready to go, Veri?”

“Yes, let’s go, My Love.”

↻ Ratio is pretty protective of you, especially since he’s aware of the attention you garner (your hands are also interlocked so you don’t get swept away from him)

↺ If you get lost, you both would identify a landmark to meet by so you don’t bump into as many people

Currently reading Komi Can’t Communicate due to the recent Twitter topic, and immediately I thought “How can I make this about Dandy’s World?”

So I already have some ideas, I will list them down

— Dazzle as Komi, Astro as Tadano

— Razzle and Dazzle are separated in this, they’re still twins just not conjoined

— Both Razzle and Dazzle are very popular. As Komi, it’s self explanatory for Dazzle. Razzle is more like Najimi but doesn’t take their role

— I think Dazzle used to cling onto Razzle up until their first year of high school, Dazzle decided he needed to be more independent so he’s not a burden for Razzle

— I’m changing the story a bit, just keeping the original idea

— Dazzle will later join Astro and Brightney in the book club

— Dazzle is only comfortable with talking to Razzle without stuttering or anything (he’ll learn to speak with Astro and Brightney soon)

— Just like in Komi Can’t Communicate, Dazzle is now labeled ‘God’ in his class (same with Razzle in a different class, they’re both perfect after all). Brightney is Class President and Astro is Vice President

— I still think Razzle and Dazzle are both beautiful in canon, so they both became popular fast

So,

Komi is super popular for someone with severe socal anxiety. Both girls and boys are in love with her to the point that one of her classmates kidnaps her first friend and they find him in a closet. The girl has photos of her everywhere 💀 super creepy as hell tbh. She even eats a peice of her hair- 😭.

But in the first episode or the second, the main character says he'll help Komi complete her dream of having 100 friends despite her socal anxiety. And the main character realizes that Komi may come off as intimidating but she just has a very hard time communicating with people. She has these super cute hiccups 🥺 and she has almond shape eyes that are purple 😍 (she's hella pretty) in one of the episodes I watched, Najime (everyone in the animes childhood friend) sends her to get a drink from a cafe and she makes it there but because she's too nervous to talk, the barista(?) Gives her the wrong drink and she just takes it because she can't say it's the wrong order 😭. Then she starts tearing up when they take it out of the bag and it's the wrong one 💀 (the main character uses they/them pronouns for Najime so I'm doing the same lol)

A Shout-Out to the “Manga in Libraries” Guide

For those who don’t know, I’m a fan of borrowing manga from my local library. I’m very thankful that I’m in a situation where my library has managed to hold off budget cuts every year. And more importantly, there’s some damn good librarians in New York City who care about manga. Around 2021, I found out about a librarian in my area specializing in Japanese pop culture who started a website curating information on how to advocate for manga in libraries. The librarian’s name was Jillian Rudes, who has gone on to do amazing things in the North American library scene for manga. She’s the founder of Manga in Libraries and earlier this year, she released a book for teen librarians called “Manga in Libraries: A Guide for Teen Librarians” on how to get started in promoting manga for educational purposes at their respective library branches.

I managed to borrow a copy from my library and I’ll say that it’s a solid resource.

At first, I was surprised at the size of the book (it’s about 130+ pages) because I was somewhat expecting a huge book due to reading various large books on manga over the years. Don’t be fooled though because there’s a lot of great information found carefully catered to the librarian and educator audiences. Jillian starts off by saying “Why Manga?” followed by a introduction to manga itself, how the text needs to be read, the various genres, U.S. publishers, etc. 

The book is followed by chapters on developing a manga collection in a library, representation in manga, social-emotional learning, manga programming, and teaching in manga. Several interviews with notable manga experts are featured as well.

While every chapter is great, the strongest parts of the guide in my opinion are the chapters on social-emotional learning and teaching in manga. Jillian does an excellent job in explaining the core concepts of SEL and how they can be applied to libraries. She even discusses topics like emotional intelligence and the feelings wheel as well. Jillian makes a powerful case in how manga supports SEL using Komi Can’t Communicate as an example.

Jillian would later highlight Komi Can’t Communicate among other titles when she discusses how to use manga as a teaching tool in the classroom. She provides a template on how to go about creating a course on manga using her own experience in teaching manga to 12th graders at her school. It’s a very thorough one as Jillian explains specific activities she would incorporate to slowly get students engaged in learning through manga over a certain amount of weeks. The payoff is getting students REALLY involved in the teaching/learning process as they are told to create their own manga reading guides for the manga titles being discussed in their class.

As someone who doesn’t work in a library, I can only speak for the two chapters on SEL and teaching manga honestly because of my experiences and background in researching community-based initiatives for mental health. I’m all about thoughtful reflection with the help of peers and support systems outside of healthcare. I think Jillian does a wonderful job in explaining how manga can help in that area with those 2 chapters.

Reading the Manga in Libraries guide makes me glad that there are people who are trying to promote manga to teenagers in an educational manner. I think manga can change young lives for the better and I’ve seen it over time. Personally, I credit reading comics at a young age that got me on a journey to become a lifelong reader. I also like that the Manga in Libraries guide is in print because trying to find information on manga online can be a bit of a mess and very scattered. Jillian manages to condense a lot of resources in an easy-to-find manner for her guide.

Jillian makes a note in the end of the book that reading manga can create joy for those who read it. I believe it does for many people, especially teens who often feel out of place in the world we live in. And on that note, the Manga in Libraries guide is a joy that anyone interested in and/or advocating for manga education should not pass up on.

Komi Can't Communicate au? Where Yata is Komi Shoko and Saruhiko is Tadano HitoHito? (Well, semi-Tadano, not completely since they have two different personalities, but I think you understand what I mean)

Fushimi is literally the absolute worst person to help someone else make 100 friends though XD Maybe what Yata really wants though is to just make one really good friend — sure, he’d like to have a whole bunch of friends that he could run around and have fun with, but if even just one guy could be his friend that would be enough. Say in this case Yata’s communication disorder issue is that initially at least he couldn’t keep his mouth shut, he just blurted out everything he felt. Initially this got him a lot of friends among other kids who admired Yata for being so tough and talking back to bullies, but then when his mom gets remarried and he switches schools it becomes a handicap. People start bullying and shunning him and it gets so bad that Yata becomes afraid to even open his mouth, always worried that he’ll say the wrong thing and everyone will start to ostracize him again.

His parents switch him to another school for high school and Yata thinks maybe this won’t be too bad, since no one knows him here. He still can’t really talk though, just sitting in silence while other kids ignore him. I feel like Yata would be kinda overlooked in this case, just that short kid with nothing special about him, and instead people in class are all gossiping about this other quiet kid with a pretty face. Except when people talk to Fushimi he responds to them with acid remarks and tongue clicks and Yata secretly thinks that it’s kinda cool isn’t it, the way Fushimi doesn’t care what other people think.

One day the class needs two people to stay behind to clean, Yata is chosen because he can’t speak up to say no. The class also chooses Fushimi, laughing all ‘you don’t mind staying late right.’ Fushimi clicks his tongue and the rest of the class leaves, Yata’s there all nervous because he doesn’t know what to do. He’s frustrated but he can’t say anything so he just starts cleaning, which is when he hears another tongue click. Fushimi says he doesn’t care about idiots, but if it upsets Yata so much he should have said so. Yata laughs nervously and tries to say that it’s fine but his voice won’t come out. Fushimi looks at him for a moment and then gets up and walks to the chalkboard. He says staying quiet in front of others is stupid, if Yata wants to yell he should yell, and if he can’t yell then write it at least. Yata stares at him blankly and Fushimi says he doesn’t want to be stuck cleaning with a guy who just gives up in front of others, so write what you can’t say. Otherwise Yata can clean quietly after all and Fushimi will go home, because why should he work with a shorty who can’t even muster an argument.

Yata feels this sudden burst of anger and imagine him grabbing the chalk and writing ‘I’M NOT A SHORTY’ on the board in big messy letters. Fushimi scoffs all yes you are and suddenly it’s like the floodgates have opened, Yata writing about how angry he is and how annoying Fushimi is and if you’re so smart why didn’t you stand up when they made you clean, why do we have to listen to those guys, next time Yata will just skip cleaning and see how they like that. He throws the chalk down in frustration but then looks up when he hears someone else writing, Fushimi with a slight smirk as he writes ‘yeah, worthless guys like that are annoying, when they make other people do all the work just because we aren’t all uselessly friendly.’ Yata laughs at that and writes ‘you’re a weird guy,’ Fushimi responds with his own ‘so are you.’ Suddenly they’re both writing all over the board, complaints about school and their classmates and everything. Yata finds himself smiling widely for the first time in a long time as he writes ‘hey, you’re really cool!’, and he thinks maybe he saw Fushimi give the smallest smile reading it.

The short hair was a fashion choice unique to the second age. Where everyone jumped on the trend and then immediately (for elves so a couple centuries) jumped off again. It’s the embarrassing haircut every elf tries to forget they ever had, so much so that they tear down all statues and paintings where they have it.

The kind of thing that galadriel will absolutely hold over elrond’s head every time they come to visit, and show all his kids.

A mini meta on Komi-san Can’t Communicate

So i’ve been watching Komi-san lately, and I really love the main couple, but it took me a while to finally pinpoint why.

When the show begins, we start from Tadano’s perspective: he’s an average guy with a beautiful but silent classmate who’s secret he discovers. And at this point, I thought i knew what i was getting. The everyday man finding out some secret about a girl way out of their league causing the girl to need to keep them around is a very common wish fulfillment plot. Komi is clearly Tadano’s ideal girl, and the fact she has a weakness he can exploit is just the icing on the cake. I’ve seen it all before, and it always left a bad taste in my mouth.

But here’s the kicker: Tadano doesn’t exploit Komi’s secret. He doesn’t make her dependent on him, or act jealous of her new friends. He’s constantly looking out for her comfort and trying to help her reach out and make new friends. And in this, he becomes a wish fulfillment character himself. After all, a guy who genuinelu cares and tries to help you with your crippling anxiety? Someone who always understands when u try to communicate? People with social anxieties want that. Any girl who’s ever felt misunderstood wants that. Komi-san wants that. Tadano, with his gentle encouragement and seemingly endless patience, is as much Komi’s ideal man as she is his ideal woman.

And that’s what makes the show work. They both value each other, they both want each other, and every episode they find new little details about each other to make them fall even more in love. Its sweet and uncomplicated, and maybe its a bit idealistic, but its like having a yummy desert after a long day, it soothes you.

The Great Demon Fiance ManHunt of Cang Qiong Sect

A scum villian’s self saving system au

It all started when Liu Qingge fell into another succubus pit.

Now the succubus in this pit had been gossiping just before he arrived. Well, more like debating in demon fashion, which is to say they had been in an all out brawl.

Liu Qingge thinks this might be an easy fight since they’re all so distracted, until on smarter succubus stops the others

“Wait!” She says. “He’s from Cang Qiong. Maybe he knows something!”

Liu qingge isn’t particularly interested in hearing them out, but they overwhelm him, united as one and fueled with the vigor of one who is starving for gossip

They ask him: “which cang Qiong peak lord is getting married to the next mobei-jun?”

This completely throws liu qingge for a loop nad he venemently denies it

But the succubus insist, spinning a tale of star crossed lovers which as reached their ears: of a young mobei-jun who was rescued by a pittiful human from cang qiong sect, who promised to always be there for mobei-jun, even as he rose higher and higher in thr sect, never betraying him, until even the great mobei-jun could not help but fall in love

Liu qingge dismisses this, but the succubus insist its true, because the same Mobei-jun visited their madam (i forget her name) for a fortune told, and there was a human at his side, dressed in the robes of a cang qiong peak lord!

Their madam is famous for her love fortunes! Why visit her with someone if u weren’t planning to marry them?

(Mobei-jun was not there for a love fortune. He and Shang Qinghua were looking for some plot device to help thwart on of his uncle’s schemes, and needed directions)

So which one was it? Was it him?

Liu qingge is outraged by this suggestion, so much so that it gives him enough of a power boost to escape

At first he ignores it. But it keeps circling in his brain, like a nagging fly he can’t get out of his mind

Then the unthinkable happens: Shen Qingqiu starts being nice! He saves him! He wants to bury the hatchet! He starts being nice to his disciples!

It’s almost like he recieved some very, very good news.

Like a secret proposal.

But no! Shen Qingqiu liked woman! He was always sneaking down to the red pavilon! Right? Right?

Unless he was just using that as a cover to sneak out to see his demon lover????

Filled with worry, he tries to subtly interrogate Shen Qingqiu by asking him what he thinks of demons. Rather predictably, this fails horribly. With an oblivious shen yuan thinking this was a perfect opportunity to get liu qingge to soften to his future brother-in-law’s heritage and gives his whole “there are bad and good ones” speech

Liu qingge leaves heartbroken, certain his shixiong is in love with a demon

He goes to yue qingyuan and tells him that they might be losing a martial brother to an engagement, but refuses to say who

Leaving yue qinghuan witn thr impession its liu qingge who’s getting engaged

At around this time, the rumor of a cang qiong peak lord marrying a demon reaches the peak, because those succubus are still fighting over which one it is, and have taken to asking every cang qiong disciple they can find

Yue qingyaun panics, because his shidi has all but told him he’s getting engaged, liu qingge panics because shen qingqiu could get in serious trouble if this is found out, and shang qinghua panics because what if this inane rumor causes people to examine his own connections to demons?

Shen qingqiu is not panicking. Shen Qingqiu is having a lovely time playing house eith binghe and ignoring everything else

Meanwhile the other peak lords all start accusing each other, the disciples start using this to start fights with other peak disciples, and its all getting very out of hand

Yue qingyuan is forced to call a meeting, and tries to politely get liu qingge to confess

How to Woo the Girl You Dumped Without her Demon-possessed Brother Getting in your Way: A Guide by Jin Zinxuan

It all begins when Jin Zinxuan notices that Jiang Yanli is actually really pretty.

This is unfortunately right in the middle of him yelling at her for trying to claim credit for the soup someone’s been making for him

Wei Wuxian shows up, demonic tendicals (we’re going anime version here) dripping from all around him as he defends his sister, it comes out that she has been making the soup, and now he’s smitten with a huge problem: the girl he likes both now prob hates him because he humiliated her, and also her brother is definitely a demon

Now a sensible person would first try to patch over the relationship with jiang yanli by apologizing, but jin Zixuan is a Jin! He’s never done a sensible thing in his life!

And also talking about feelings is really scary and as his friend Miammiam likes to point out, he is really bad at it

So naturally, he decides that the most important step to wooing Jiang yanli is to save her brother from demonic possession. That way she’ll be super impressed with him and he’ll be less terrifying and so greatful he’ll well come him into the family!

What could go wrong?!!

Jin Guangyao insists that it is not demonic possession, it is demonic cultivation. But jin zixuan has heard jin zixun rant about “that wei demon” enough times to know better

Figure of speech? What’s that?

So jin zixuan decides to exorcise wei wuxian, and to do that, he’ll need help from the smartest person he knows: jin Guangyao

Jin guangyao is less than thrilled at being sent on a rediculous job like this, to exorcise the clearly not possessed wei wuxian, until he realizes jin zixuan will do anything he suggests without question

ANYTHING

So Jin guangyao decides to have fun with this, setting jin zixuan on increasingly ridiculous tasks to “cure” wei wuxian of demonic possesstion

Like covering him in salt. Or throwing itchy flowers at him. Or running after him chanting this truely awful tune while hoping on one foot.

The result of course, is a very angry wei wuxian who chases zixuan away, and an increasingly desperate jin zixuan who thinks wei wuxian’s frustrations are proof that “the demons are trying to stop me!”

Now the sect heir acting strange is going to raise some eyebrows, and when outsiders look at jin zixuan throwing flowers and singing, they come to a very different conclusion.

Within a day, everyone in every sect is convinced jin zixuan is trying to court wei wuxian

“My son is a cutsleeve!” Moans jin guangshan. “How did this happen! I showed him all the fine ways to love a woman!”

“You’re lessons are the reason my son is a cutsleeve!” Madam jin retorts. “U scarred him for life!”

They proceed to spend the rest of the time arguing and somehow forget to actually talk to their son

Meanwhile in yumeng everyone is losing their collective shit. Jiang cheng is furious that jin zixuan thinks he can poach wei ying with a few pretty words and flowers. Jiang yanli is depressed because her crush is really hopeless now, and how could she measure up to wei wuxian?

Wei wuxian himself is disgusted, not that jun zixuan is a cutsleeve, but that he’d dare to court him! After what he did to shijie! He resolves to firmly rebuff every attempt jin zixuan makes

Which only serves to make jin zixuan more determined because “those demons are really stubborn!!”

But then… the rumor reaches gusu

And lan zhan hops on the first sword to the jin sect to challenge jin zixuan to a duel for wei wuxian’s honor

Lan Zhan tells himself he wouldn’t do this is wei wuxian actually loved the guy. But its not just some guy. This is jin zixuan, wei wuxian hates him! Even he knows that!

They fight, but jin zixuan for all his denseness, even he knows he doesn’t have a quirrel with lan Zhan, and eventually he gets lan zhan to calm down enough to ask why they are fighting

Lan zhan explains and jin zixuan is horrified he’d ever thing that, and quickly fills him in on what he’s really doing: saving wei wuxian from the demon that is possessing him

The Yiling Laozu’s Lost Spells, A.K.A. The Weird Ones

When the Yiling Laozu died his work was divided up by its use

The Lans took anything deemed undemonic, like Spirit Lures and Demonic Compasses

The Jins snuck out anything dangerous under the lie they’d destroy it

And the rest of it…it got scattered everywhere to every lowdown village and wanna be demonic cultivator.

At first, no one thought this would be a problem. It’s not like anything dangerous is out there, and not just anyone can culitvate

But they forgot two very important things: 1) no one needs to be a culivator to use demonic cultivation and 2) people will find a way to use anything

Soon the culivation world is overrun by really, really weird cases that their cultivators just can’t keep up with

And when I say weird, I do mean weird here’s a look at some of the cases:

Case 1) Giant rabbits the size of houses have been spotted in a mountain near a sheparding villiage eating all their feilds. They asked Hanguang-jun for help. Hanguang-jun went up but he did not come back down. It is suspected the giant bunnies ate him

Case 2) the dancing radishes. Every night on the full moon radishes come to life in a villiage and dance on their beds. Its not hurting anyone, but its really freaking them out

Case 3) dog begone spells. A whole villiage has lost all its dogs and no one knows why. Some of them were really expensive spirit puppies, including one jin guangyao was planning to purchase for his nephew

Case 4) the case of the running radishes. Radishes are leaving their beds a d running away as fast as thry can. Every time someone gets close they keep moving farther away

Case 5) flowers flying to lan clan ribbons and sticking. Every flower, even ones on stems. The lans are walking around covered in flowers and it is becoming a Problem.

Case 6) radishes that look like potatoes. Again? What is with this guy and radishes? This spell would have been harmless if it hadn’t been in a villiage with two rival families of radishes and potatoes. The potato family is accusing the radish family of sabatoge and the radish family is accusing the potato family of stealing their crop

Case 7) Lotus soup possession talisman. If u stick this talisman on someone, they will make lotus and pork rib soup. Always. Again and again. They can’t stop. Everything they make is soup. They’re crying.

Case 8) the peacock tail talisman. Every jin who comes into contact with this talisman will get a peacock tail. They can’t get rid of them. This is a problem.

Case 9) grass butterflies come to life. Again, not harmful, but very annoying. All children love it. All adult toy sellers do not. Their wares keep flying away. Please someone save their buisnesses

Case 10) hug jiang cheng. You must hug jiang cheng. You can’t help it. You can’t stop. If u don’t give him one hug a day you will die. Jiang cheng is furious. Fix this now.

Case 11) give Hanguang-jun compliments. Not hard, no one would notice if it wasn’t stuck to Su She. He hates it. He’s sueing for emotional damages. You better fix this quick!

And these are just the first ones! In times like this, people look to the Chief Cultivator. But the Chief cultivator is off flirting with women, so like all things, this falls to jin guangyao to solve.

So Jin guangyao decides he needs to get those documents back, and who better to send to handle the weird cases no one wants to touch than his weird half brother who’s so fasinated by demonic cultivation?

Thus Mo Xuanyu finds himself with his dream job: chasing down the yiling Laozu’s lost works! What more could he want?

The first case is easy. He goes up and finds Hanguang-jun asleep cuddled in a pile of giant rabbits. All he has to do is find out where the talisman is and remove them. The hard part is getting Hanguang-jun to stop looking like he just killed his wife. Mo xuanyu didn’t know Hanguang-jun had puppy eyes. Since when did he have puppy eyes? Eventually to make him feel better he helps him take all the rabbits to cloud recesses. And at another puppy dog eyed, gloomy look like he’s denied him his long lost lover, Mo Xuanyu gives him the talisman too. Jin Guangyao’s not happy, but really, what was Mo Xuanyu supposed to do? Not make that handsome man smile again?

The second case is a lot harder. Nothing Mo Xuanyu does gets the radishes to stop singing. No spells, not talismans, nothing. The only thing left is to dig them all up and throw them deep into the woods where no one will have to listen. Mo Xuanyu’s ears are still bleeding from their reedy songs

The third case is where Mo Xuanyu feels a bit of hope in Yiling laozu’s work really paying off. Lots of his bullies at the jin sect have dogs. If he can make them vanish, he’ll be safe! Unfortunately this spell makes all dogs leave, or none at all. And even when he finds a way to undo it, he can’t afford to copy it out because jin guangyao took one of the pups to give to jin ling, and if mo xuanyu makes the grumpy jin ling’s beloved new puppy go away, he’ll be kicked out of Koi Tower and feel bad besides

The radishes are back, but they run now. They aren’t even violent, u can’t use them for anything! They just run! It takes mo xuanyu months to catch one and track it back to its home. The radishes have built a radish villige in the forest. Radish farmers radish shop keepers and radish children. Mo xuanyu feels like he’s stepped into a children’s book. Then he hears the familiar reedy songs and it becomes a nightmare. The running radishes found the singing ones. They interbred. Now they have musical theatre radishes. Mo Xuanyu booked it out of there as fast as he can. Fuck the Yiling Laozu. Mo Xuanyu isn’t messing with that

I have this idea for a rival trope which I think will fit Noisette and Eggashell very well. You see, instead of hating each other it’s about a person A who’s really good at their job or has no competition but feels like something is missing then they get from somewhere like a book that they need a rival but again they have no competition so who’ll fill that role. Then they see person B do the same thing they’re doing. Person B doesn’t directly want to compete with Person A they’re just content with doing their jobs. But Person A sees them as a rival anyways and overjoyed by it so while Person A better themselves Person B just mind their buisiness without the worrying of being outcompeted by the other. Inspired by Komi can’t communicate.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, KOMI!!

Happy Birthday, Komi! I love this show so much! I need season 3 neow! I love how she is also shy around her family as well, which would be a reality for someone who is afraid of communicating. Komi is beautiful in every way. I especially love how she tries to communicate with Tadano, even if it is hard for her. This anime almost made me cry because the end of the second season was a full-circle moment. I felt like I was on the same adventures that they were! My favorite part of the show is how Komi is seen as a brute force to be reckoned with. Since she rarely communicates, people think that she is this overly-confident, scary person. Yet, she’s shy, delicate, and very pelite! She just doesn’t know how to show it yet. I love this anime, and I hope it gets a continuation! HAPPY BIRTHDAY, KOMI-SAN!!! (Also, she shares the same VA as Kaguya-sama! I love that!)

Some thoughts, please read the whole thing before commenting if you do end up reading. I just have some feelings to get out. They’re bittersweet yet hopeful feelings. This is kind of about romance, but not at the same time. I don’t usually do semi positive/negative posts. Ok as a ichihime shipper back in the day who was disappointed with how it was written (was also disappointed with poor Uryu being all alone and friendless at the end, but that’s a different topic). Tons of shonen aren’t romance manga but they made the romance at least somewhat believable. Bleach didn’t. Got confirmation on both sides how the other feels for each other from other shonen. Bleach treats it’s main romance like how Yusuke treats Keiko from Yu Yu hakusho. In the manga, the issue is Ichigo having zero romantic thoughts for Orihime at least once and for Rukia is the same for Renji. I thought this was a love square when it first started. While I do like the dynamic idea of Ichigo and Orihime, I actually wasn’t sure who would end up with who. I wasn’t here for the romance tbh. What does annoy me however is if you have an end game romance. At least have the characters on all ends acknowledge it. Anyway, my point here is, I’m glad Kubo admits he’s too lazy to write romance. Could of made the third movie he worked on about Ichigo and Orihime instead of Rukia and Ichigo. Like he straight up admits before the manga finished, he can’t do romance, so he won’t do it in general. (Makes me wonder why bother having romance at all, but at the same time, I have respect for that because he at least has self awareness . Readers shouldn’t be mad over the romance. Disappointed sure, that’s how I felt and still feel now that the anime is being done. At least Kubo admits it. tbh I feel like if ichi ruki was canon, he would of written that romance the same way. He said he never wanted to show any romance of any kind. Just cute moments like those romantic dramas of will they won’t they. Maybe this is a blessing in disguise for ichiruki people?). The naruto creator admitted he finds doing romance hard to do so he was lazy with it at the end of the manga which he probably should of admitted earlier on. He knew there needed to be development romantically so he had the anime naruto team do a movie for it.

Kubo actually had Ichigo acknowledge his feelings in the draft pilot and not the main series. I think that was a mistake. The pilot only really came out everywhere after the series finished and most people know the main series and not the draft pilot.

Also for some reason, Rukia and Ichigo aren’t allowed to be friends anymore now that Orihime and Ichigo get together. It’s awkward like a bad break up when Ichigo is brought up to Rukia in the romance novel that isn’t even romance because there’s no love confession, or actually relationship building. i think bleach is immature when it comes to romance. Like it doesn’t think the audience can handle a maturing relationship between two characters. Like they think young boys are scared of it, but Boys literally watch shojo and they love Komi can’t communicate for what that is, a lot refuse to sexualise Komi and feel very protective towards her character and also the romance in it. They loved the romance in My dress up darling (which started out mature but then fell back on immature romance. Like the vibe totally changed and it suddenly became a harem out of nowhere cuz that wasn’t advertised). Sailor moon is and was popular with both boys and girls.

I hope the anime does improve with the plot holes of the manga and I hope kubo realises he should let the anime team do the Ichihime romance that it desperately needs for the development and conclusion. It is not romance, but it would be a mistake to do nothing in your last arc. Also let Ichigo and Rukia be friends. episode 1 looks promising story wise, visual wise the episode has a lot of just blue and orange colours.

Kubo once before wrote a manga called Zombie powder and he got bored and ended that abruptly just like Bleach. That’s twice now he has done this to a series. If he makes a third series, he might do that again, so I guess people should be warned. He’s like a fanfic writer, start out motivated and then just quits abruptly. I’m hopeful for the anime because the anime team is working on it, they won’t abruptly quit and scenes have been added already that weren’t in manga, so I’m curious where this will go. If you are Happy with everything. That’s fine. If you have a hatred for Bleach. That’s also fine. I simply am neither.

Summary: Just because one Master is out of commission, it doesn’t mean the other is the same. And that they wouldn’t act out either.

The theme I was listening to for writing this was the first opening done for Persona 4 The Animation, being Sky’s the limit. I found the upbeat tone really helped with what I wanted to accomplish with this story. For a softer alternative, I recommend this song from the second season of Komi Can’t Communicate.

“Rem…” 

Vy’s fellow Master didn’t answer, continuing to toss and turn on the couch she found with surprising vigor for someone who was asleep despite the timing. Even if it was the middle of the day in Novum Chaldea with no missions, it was still odd to find Rem the one asleep in one of the many break rooms Sion made compared to Vy with her daily naps. Stressed, too. Still, Vy gave the blue-haired Master a concerned look past her knees as she kneeled to Rem’s sleeping height, a frown tugging on her lips. 

“You might catch a cold if you sleep here without a blanket, friend,” Vy tried again in a weak whisper, raising a hand to shake Rem’s shoulder but stopping halfway, a lump surfacing in her throat at the glimpse she got of Rem’s face as she turned. A tear had formed in the few seconds it took for Rem to try finding a comfortable sleeping spot on the couch, big enough to streak down her cheek and into her hairline to soak the nearest blue strands it could touch as she mumbled something unintelligible. “Rem…” 

“…” Yet again, Rem didn’t answer. Vy could already imagine the answers Rem would give if she was awake, something along the lines of “Don’t worry about it, amiga,” or even “It’s nothing, Vy, I’ll be okay eventually.” Maybe Rem would pat her head like all the others would when Vy made a face at them. It didn’t make her heart ache any less. 

Vy closed her eyes and decided, getting up to stand and brushing her knees of any dust before running in the opposite direction of Rem’s sleeping place as fast as her flats could let her. Her skirt kept fluttering a bit awkwardly behind her, the exposed part of her chest shivering from the wind hitting it where her clothes left it open, but she ignored it all in favor of finding her room. Fashion choices could be decided later, plus Vy liked the dress she had thanks to Da Vinci Caster spoiling her some. Made her think of RWBY and home a bit more fondly in the face of the Lostbelts, and a high ponytail helped keep the hair out of her face when running. 

The poppy flower drawing Mash left on the door was still intact as it always was, giving way with the door it covered as Vy entered to dash towards the nearby dresser. The dresser’s large doors gave way too when Vy threw them open in her haste, and Vy felt carbon dioxide leave her mouth in heavy puffs as she twisted her head back and forth. Mystic Code, Mystic Code, boots, a ribbon — aha! 

The forest green of the No Face May King replica stood out like a sore thumb compared to everything else in the dresser, but Vy still kneeled to gather it up in her arms, hugging the bundle to herself as she let herself breathe in the faint scent of mint and soft safety. 

I love you, Big Robin, Vy let herself think. Thankie for the gift. 

“Blanket, blanket,” left Vy outwardly in an absent voice as she closed the dresser with the back of her leg, turning her back to run back out into the hallway again, jogging with the No Face May King bundle in her arms. Everything was fluttering behind her, from her skirt ribbons to her ponytail to even the hems of the replica in her hands, but she didn’t care. There was still a person who needed warmth, just as much as she did if not more.

Coming back to the break room revealed Rem having turned over again on the couch, facing the inside cushions but still relatively asleep. 

Vy inhaled and exhaled, forcing the lump in her throat to disappear with a silent gulp as she slowed her strides forward, tiptoeing as much as she could as the replica in her arms fluttered some. Even from the back, Vy could see Rem’s chest move up and down to show her breathing — to show she was still alive — and Vy exhaled again.

The No Face May King replica barely made a sound once Vy unfurled it from the makeshift bundle she stuffed it in from her dresser, merely fluttering like a warm blanket once Vy let it go to place it over Rem’s sleeping figure. The blue-haired Master thankfully didn’t stir once Vy forced the courage to reach over and tuck her further into the green mantle, continuing to breathe in and out as another tear formed in the corner of her eye. With one more second, Vy kneeled to Rem’s sleeping height to quickly wipe the new tear away, the sad smile tugging at her lips as she pulled her hand back from her fellow Master’s face. 

“I still love you, Chị Rem,” Vy whispered softly, vulnerability leaking into her voice as her nose itched. “Get some rest, okay? I’ll get Asclepius and Arjuna for you.” Vy was tempted, so tempted to add, “em thương Chị Rem” but it didn’t feel right. Not when Rem was still not okay. So with a heavy heart, Vy straightened her back as she stood up, sending Rem one last glance before running out as fast as she came in.

She’d say those words one day.

Stumbling outside the break room revealed two Archers waiting in the hallway when it was previously empty, and Vy felt an involuntary squeak leave her lips as their gazes turned towards her. 

Robin? Arjuna? 

As the first to engage Vy in eye contact, Arjuna didn’t say a word, merely tossing his head towards the door Vy just exited from with a shrug of his shoulders. 

“S-She’s in there, Arjuna,” Vy said hastily, gesturing with both arms in her panic towards the break room as heat flushed her cheeks. “I think Rem could use some hugs once she wakes up.”

“So I see,” was all he said, and when walking forward, he rested a single gentle hand on top of Vy’s head, ruffling her hair some before his back was concealed by the doorway as he went through it. 

Was that… was that a thank you? Vy wasn’t sure. 

Looking up then revealed Robin — Big Robin — giving her a wry smile as he walked forward, unclasping the connector to No Face May King. The real No Face May King. “Always the selfless one, huh, little sparrow?” was all he had to say initially, and Vy did her best not to lurch back once a familiar green cloth was falling on top of her head. Blinking her eyes revealed Robin staring down on her with pride and approval, and before she could open her mouth, he leaned down to press a kiss to her forehead. “Make sure to tell me when you’re going to lend that replica out next time, okay? I can commission Da Vinci to make more.” 

“…Okay.” It felt like it was enough. This time at least.

I finished BEASTARS not to long ago, and am slowly working through Komi Can’t Communicate.

As for novels I’ve been reading a book called “Within These Walls” by Ania Alborn. If you’re into spooky things and/or crime books I highly recommend!

Anime finished this year 7: The Ice Guy and his Cool Female Colleague

This is one of the shows from this season that I was actually looking forward to since I needed myself a good old fashioned workplace romance that didn't just feel like it was doing the same tropes as a high school romance with a new coat of paint. Something light and fluffy like that is exactly what I got, but sometimes we need a show like that. It even had some light supernatural elements that weren't at the forefront, but managed to make the world a little more interesting and gave room for some stronger character personalities to work their way into the mix.

It is a series that I will freely admit took a little while to find its footing, though. The first few episodes are a little choppy, but over time this evens out and settles into a nice relaxed pace. It thrives in that sort of pace too, given that a lot of the moments that are the most intimate are quiet and subtle ones, rather than big showy ones.

I like most of the characters and even the ones that I am not attached to, I have to admit have their place in proceedings and have their own charm. Personally, I really like the titular ice guy, Himuro. It's really nice to get a male lead that just wears his heart on his sleeve like he does, while allowing the female lead to be the more reserved one. But it also doesn't take her to extremes like something like Komi Can't Communicate does, or make her coolness something that makes her perfect either. She's just a little on the quiet and polite side and that's okay.

I can definitely see how some people might find this to be a little bland and vanilla, but it's something that managed to get a giggle out of me here and there and had me smiling more often than it didn't, so I'd say that it's a pretty solid josei romance!

One thing that really stood out to me on the animation side of things was the way that the characters eyes would sometimes shake and dart around a little. This was just such an interesting touch of realism that we don't get very often and I found myself really appreciating it. It gave such a nice light tension to those quiet moments between Himuro and Fuyutsuki. I've seen that some don't like it and I can understand that given it's a bit different from what they might be used to, but it was one of those little touches that really drew me in to the series, personally.

Just be aware that this is a series that is on a nice steady slow burn. There's no big romantic resolution at the end of the season or anything like that. Perhaps in another season if we get one or in the manga. And while I love a slow burn, it can be a bit hard to watch a whole season that doesn't end with at least a big step forward, even if there were a bunch of little ones along the way.

what are some good animes for beginners if you don't mind me asking? i've never seen any (unless you count atla/lok...which i don't) but i'm sorta interested

There’s a lot of different genre animes out there like there is general movies etc so finding the kinda ones you enjoy is the main thing!

I’m a big fan on Seinen animes (so more adult/horror based etc) but there’s Shonen (which is similar but more teamwork/adventure based) and Shojo (which is the more romantic/tame stuff from what I’ve experienced) so my recs will be more within the Shonen/Seinen brackets!

Spy x Family - only 1 season (currently) and is wholesome good fun! Got a little bit of everything, but mostly humour. About a spy that needs to adopt a child and find a fake wife for one of his missions but he gets more attached than anticipated!

Haikyuu!! - has 4 season so a bit more of a commitment, but again is good wholesome content about a high school volleyball team trying to make a name for itself again! Also v funny, also real cute

Sk8 the Infinity - only 1 season again, but has a really chill storyline essentially and cute characters!! Lots of fun and really pretty animation about 2 guys that become besties over skateboarding and taking part in a tournament!

How to Keep a Mummy - PURE SOFTNESS like pure adorable, only 1 season, about a boy who is sent a mini mummy to take care of by his explorer dad and it’s PURE!!

Komi Can’t Communicate - 1 season, really enjoyable for those with social anxiety as I found it v relatable, has some really cute stuff and a generally lovely story! About a gal who doesn’t talk because of her anxiety trying to make friends at school!

Link Click - 1 season, this is a Chinese anime and is a bit more garish, has more action kinda thing but is about 2 guys that run a photo shop but secretly they’re able to go back in time by jumping into the pictures!! Really cool and has a good story

Demon Slayer - 2 seasons (movie was turned into first half of season 2) a much more known anime, but has STUNNING animation and a wonderful story, a fair bit sad and gory at times but is one of my faves and just lots of fun!!

Take a look at some of those to see if you enjoy them! There’s a lot more I can recommend that are more adult if you like that kinda thing!
