We left the Hilton before dawn to head to the Kona airport, and we were treated to a beautiful rainbow, our first on the trip, as we traveled down HI-19.
The sun was fully up and blazing by the time we arrived at the airport, and I was glad that we gave ourselves enough time to get to the airport so we could walk around a little. While it’s not big, the terminal where the Southwest flights leave from is definitely more deserted in the morning and I had resigned myself to not getting a meal before we boarded the aircraft. Fortunately, walking over to the other terminal was extremely straightforward, and we were able to enjoy a nice little breakfast of a bacon-egg-cheese sandwich and one last Kua Bay IPA. The restaurant was one of the few places that was fully-enclosed in the airport, and it was one of the more pleasant airport restaurant experiences I’ve ever had as it was incredibly low stakes and then we were able to walk back over to our terminal, get our bags scanned (though I was bummed there were no stickers like you get in Puerto Rico), and get on the plane.
This was definitely a singular and memorable experience; I’m so grateful to have been able to experience it, and it was an amazing way to kick off 2024 travel.

Thanks to yet another donation from Rare Noggin Stuff, the following phone firmware images have been dumped:
Kyocera:
* Kona (Boost Mobile and Cricket versions)
* S1360 / Jax (Assurance Wireless branded)
LG LX5350 (LX53501D)
Samsung SPH-A900 (ZJ23, latest version thus far)
Firmware images and new JTAG pinouts are available on the Dumbphone Repo as usual!
As well as the fact that all known Kona carrier variants have been dumped, the Cricket Kona firmware is notable for being the only Kyocera Kona with functioning BREW runtime support out of the box.

Our first proper meal in Hawaii! We were staying at the Hilton Waikoloa Village, and while the resort has a number of on-site restaurants, the only one we ever ate at was the Kona Tap Room right off the main lobby. Obviously we were expecting high prices given where we were, but the portions were at least generous for what they considered small plates and the food pretty tasty. The ahi poke nachos were a personal highlight, as I came into this trip with the intention of eating as much poke as possible while we were here, and this was a solid start.
The main highlight, however, was the beer selection. Being familiar with Kona Brewing’s Big Wave Golden Ale, I was excited to try their IPAs, and the super-hoppy Kua Bay IPA was my personal favorite during our entire stay. (Clearly I’m not the only one, as it was seemingly everywhere we went.) The Castaway IPA was another highlight, while my husband tried the Hula Hefeweizen, the Hanalei IPA, and the Lavaman Red Ale but would come back to the Big Wave time and time again.
I’m glad I did my research ahead of time and found some places off-property that were an easy distance from the resort, as we were then able to try more local dishes and not fall into the lure of buying $36 dollar cheese pizzas (no, really).

What’s Hawaiian coffee got that other coffees don’t?
When it comes to producing coffee, there’s no dearth of land to get the job done. Coffee is currently grown in close to 80 countries across Africa, Asia, South and Central America and the Caribbean. When it comes to flavor however, not many geographies match up to the magic of one particular slice of land. Hawaii. So what is it that makes conventional coffees a daily routine and Hawaiian coffees a pleasurable experience?
Nutrient-rich Soil
Hawaiian coffees are blessed with a home that comes richly endowed with something ordinary coffees don’t have the privilege of either seeing or being surrounded with. Volcanoes. Volcanoes on their part, transform the soil into a nutrient-rich, fertile ground that only the world’s best coffees would demand, appreciate and make the most of.
Ideal Temperature
Like people, coffee plants too feel the cold, heat and everything else in between. If we don’t like sweating it out under an exceptionally warm sun, neither do they. The trouble with higher temperatures is, they usually lead to abnormal coffee flowering and poor fruiting. High-elevation coffee regions like Hawaii however, have an average temperature of 69 degrees (Fahrenheit) which inspires coffee plants to do what they’re destined to do. Grow, blossom and create the world’s most delectable coffees.
 Well-spread Rainfall
Heavy rains may not wash away the color of your home but it sure can play havoc with the flavor of a coffee bean. The optimal rainfall condition in Hawaii keeps the flavor of coffee beans from being washed away which explains why they taste sweeter and better than other coffees. Also, the rain here is both abundant and uniformly distributed, which is favorable for coffee plantations to flower and fruit throughout the year.
Quality Management
The hand that nurtures a coffee plant controls the quality of the resulting bean. Hawaiian coffee producers spare no efforts in terms of resources, techniques and processes to make sure their farms give out nothing less than the world’s finest coffees.
The taste
When you have the world’s best home ground to grow your coffee, a product with exceptional aroma, flavor and after-taste is but a harvest away. Hawaiian coffees are known to be mild in taste and acidity as compared to conventional coffees. Take a sip and you’ll find your coffee to be rich and smooth but never overpowering.
Experience the flavor of Hawaiian coffee today!
We’re Social Brew, an e-commerce coffee company that loves to spread the flavor of the world’s best coffees into the lives and routines of coffee lovers like you.
So, if you’re ready to discover the unique taste of wide-ranging Hawaiian coffees, we’ll be more than happy to help you. We’d also like to share that, we use the proceeds from the coffee you buy from us to help victims of human trafficking in rebuilding their lives.
So, every time you visit Social Brew to make a purchase, we make sure the goodness of our specialty coffees goes beyond your cup.

They increase the level of antioxidants in the body and decrease oxidative stress within cells. These acids in the coffee can slow down and prevent cell damage by reducing free radical activity. Decaf Does Not Mean Caffeine-Free. An eight-ounce brewed cup of decaf coffee contains two to 12 milligrams of caffeine based on a Mayo Clinic study. A standard cup of coffee has between 95 and 200 milligrams of caffeine, while a can of cola contains between 23 and 35 mg. Coffee Was Consumed As Food Originally Drinking Coffee Was Once Punishable By Death! In 1511, Mecca rulers believed coffee stimulated radical thinking and banned the drink. Yet, Pope Clement VII loved coffee so much that he lifted the ban and had coffee baptized in 1600. The truth is that ‘Good to the last drop’ is not presidential, just savvy marketing.
