On my Pharma apologism bullshit again

So like, I've made posts in the past about how Pharma's trauma at the hands of Tarn/the DJD and his refusal to call for help makes sense given what we later learned about Tarn/the DJD's capabilities for isolating and brutally murdering targets. Basically, I said that it makes sense that Pharma is largely treated as a villain by the narrative because the present-day of the story takes place entirely during Pharma's madness/villain arc and that's the only function he has in the story: as a super tertiary villain that's not meant to be Super Deep. Since a lot of Pharma's character is stuff that you can only infer via retroactive lore scattered throughout future series, and the narrative never brings it up so you have to put the lore together yourself, it makes sense that Pharma's first/present-day characterization as a "mad doctor" is how he's primarily remembered.

But honestly, I still have to call bullshit on Ratchet immediately assuming Pharma was evil and working for the DJD. You don't have to sympathize/apologize for Pharma based on later lore that only we as the reader are subject to; you can find signs of it literally throughout MTMTE 5-6, the same issues that introduce Pharma and treat him as if he's simply a mad doctor/evil Autobot.

We establish that the facility of Delphi is on "the edges of DJD territory"

As characters introduce more details about the DJD, we find out a lot of "fun" facts about them:

They specialize in "extreme punishment" aka torture, as wee see a mech who looks like they've been completely stripped of armor and literally has their guts hanging out

They punish Decepticons who defect or turn traitor

Just witnessing the aftermath of what they do is enough to traumatize people (the Swerve line is played as a joke of how he was upset he couldn't talk, but the root cause of him not being able to talk was being traumatized by seeing the DJD's work)

Multiple Decepticons, including Drift who just earlier in MTMTE 5, tried to play off his fear of the DJD, say that they would rather be killed or euthanized than face the DJD

And, most importantly in regards to Pharma... the DJD were literally going to kill everyone at Delphi and destroy the whole facility if Pharma didn't comply with Tarn's demands.

And also: Delphi is harboring an ex-Decepticon who defected to the Autobots, aka one of the very people who the DJD are employed to track down and kill in the most gruesome of ways.

So in other words, not only would the DJD have wanted to kill everyone at Delphi simply for being Autobots, it also stands to reason that they would have inevitably come to Delphi at some point in time because they would've come for Ambulon and, presumably, Pharma's deal with Tarn was the only thing keeping Ambulon safe (as we can extrapolate since his t-cog deal was keeping everyone at Delphi safe).

Though of course, the characters in the story (I'll focus on Ratchet for now) aren't privy to all of this. But I still find it rather callous of Ratchet to react the way he does

Considering that before this conversation, he already knew the points mentioned above (including having the personal experience of Decepticons/Drift telling him they'd rather die than meet the DJD)

And what rubs salt in the wound is that later on Ratchet acknowledges that

For most of his life, Pharma was a fantastic doctor.

Later on in certain flashbacks we also find out that Pharma and Ratchet worked together at the DMF before the war even started and continued to work with each other throughout the war (such as when they saw all the dead Wreckers cadets), dating their friendship as having lasted at least 4 million years long. So basically, Ratchet has an intimate knowledge of Pharma from them being friends virtually their entire lives.

Then Ratchet sees Pharma go from "a fantastic doctor" to a raving lunatic killing his patients and just....... doesn't notice anything amiss with this? The ONE PERSON IN THE UNIVERSE who was closer to Pharma than anyone else just didn't question this sudden, radical change in Pharma's demeanor? Even after knowing about the DJD being on Messatine? Even after being personally told that people would rather die than face the DJD? And Ratchet's first reaction to the whole situation is to say angrily to Pharma "You harvested organs on behalf of the DJD?!" as if it was some sort of choice Pharma did willingly.

It's not so much Ratchet being mad about Pharma killing people that gets to me, it's the aspect of how Ratchet was Pharma's best friend for 4+ million years, used to be inseparable from him at one point, and should therefore have known Pharma well enough to understand when he was acting out of character, both in regards to betraying his medical ethics and in regards to behaving erratically and acting stark raving mad.

Like really, this is just a personal thing, but as someone who HAS a best friend that I've been friends with for almost half my life at this point (and soon we'll have been friends for longer time than we didn't know each other), I can't fathom treating her the way Ratchet treated Pharma here. Anger and a feeling of betrayal, sure, but assuming the absolute worst of Pharma and not giving a single lick of care towards the circumstances all pointing flaming arrows to a sign that says "PHARMA WENT INSANE FROM BEING BLACKMAILED BY THE DJD"? That's just low, man.

TLDR: I thought that the sympathetic Pharma lore wrt his fear of/paranoia about the DJD was only established retrospectively, but it turns out the signs of Pharma being forced/driven mad by the DJD were there literally from the start of the Delphi arc and Ratchet just didn't give a shit about it I guess.

I deleted my old tumblr about a year ago but then decided to make a new account with the intention of logging on every now and then to see what was going on in the fandoms I interested in. I wasn't going to interact with the posts or post anything myself but I can't keep my mouth shut anymore. I know that tumblr is a very far-left-chronically-online-teenagers kind of website (where "teenagers" does not necessarily refer to the actual age but rather to the black and white thinking and inability to understand that the real world is much more complex than that) and I'm not a fan of social media in general, plus I'm a very busy person, so I don't really like spending a lot of time on here but sometimes it can be fun.

Imagine my surprise when I created my new account sometime in December or January, only to find out that Noah Schnapp had apparently been cancelled, when only a year earlier he was being praised for being "so brave and queer" (I have my thoughts on all of this too but they're irrelevant right now). Knowing tumblr, I obviously rolled my eyes and moved on, wondering briefly what he might have done to warrant people cursing him left, right, and centre. Then I came across that photo and was like... I have no idea what's going on. Because I literally didn't. I learn about the news from newspaper headlines and only occasionally glance through New York Times, The Guardian, Süddeutsche Zeitung, or some other reputable newspapers when I have the time and nothing better to do.

So I decided to do my research. Cambridge Dictionary told me that Zionism was "a political movement that had as its original aim the creation of a country for Jewish people, and that now supports the state of Israel" which sounded more than reasonable to me, I could 100% get behind that myself. This left me even more confused as to why everyone was freaking out. At that point, I knew that there was a war in the Middle East but I didn't pay much attention to it. But by that point I was so invested in finding out what started this witch-hunt that I decided to sacrifice some time I didn't really have and dig deep into the topic.

Since my knowledge of the history and politics of the Middle East was close to nill at that point, I just knew that it'd been very tense and very messy ever since I could remember, I had to do a lot of reading, and I quickly realised that the situation was extremely complicated. The whole region was a ticking time bomb and I couldn't think of any potential solution to the problem. In other words, I still don't think there was any chance of this not turning into an armed conflict sooner rather than later.

Armed with this new knowledge, I then returned to tumblr, thinking that people were upset that Noah was making a joke about the war, which is perfectly understandable. Instead I found out that the woke American left was now supporting terrorists. Which was an interesting development, to say the least. More terrifying was the realisation that they were getting all their information from Islamic sources, including the Hamas itself, because the West is apparently evil now (neo-orientalism, anyone? just me? okay...) and can't be trusted. Also, the Jews are responsible for that because they're controlling the governments and the media and basically everything else? Correct me if I got that wrong, I'm not very good at conspiracy theories, they confuse me, but I think that's what a lot of people are implying?

Let's take a moment to let it sink in: people believe everything a terrorist group tells them (see sources at the end if you have any doubts that that's what they are) as opposed to consulting different sources from various places where the press are reasonably free to tell the truth... Not only that, they are now "rooting for" Hamas (it's a war, not a football match, but fine) and, on the more extreme end, want to see Israel destroyed. In the same breath, with no sense of irony, they renounce genocide and praise the Nazis (which is what I actually wanted to talk about, but this has got too long, so more on those charming chaps, their modern counterparts, and how the far left has become the far right in my next post).

As for Noah, I find the post itself rather off-putting but not the fact that he might support Zionism (in its original form; people on this site seem to have redefined it and now I see it used as an insult, but I can't for the life of me figure out what you think it means, not to mention that none of you can actually agree on what it means, so I'm just going to stick to the original definition, thank you very much). But he's 19 and teenagers will always be teenagers, they rarely stop to think before doing or saying something. If he was 20 years older than he is, I'd think he should know better, but I've seen kids (and many adults) do much dumber, not to mention dangerous (as in could actually get them and/or other people killed), things in real life. I've done much dumber things myself. It's just that the most of us have the privilege of doing those dumb things in private, without millions of people analysing our every move.

Vice Versa ep 11

Much like Puen and Talay shifting back to their original universe (ou) this week, the show made a clear design shift. Before the ep, I was eagerly awaiting red - so much Red - in the clothes, in the lighting, in the set and in the props...so I felt bereft when we didn't get it. It felt strange, as though this ep didn't seem to belong in the same 'world' that the series had set up over the past 10 eps...and of course it didn't!...because we weren't in the alternate universe (au) anymore...we're now back in the ou. Of course it would be different.

But I didn't realise this at first.

At first I didn't understand. I missed the look and feel of the show that I had gotten used to over the past ten weeks. I wanted the vibrancy of the multi-coloured palettes, the saturation of single colours throughout the scenes. I was sad the show had changed and I couldn't, at first, find reasoning to it. But then I did - I realised I was basically being made to feel how Talay and Puen (and probably Pakorn and Tess) must have been feeling to have left somewhere that they had gotten to know and love. Their bereftness was also my bereftness. My sadness that I didn't get all. the. red. was their sadness to leave the lives they had lived for two years.

And what a perfect way to emphasise this change from one thing to the next - the end of one thing and the beginning of the next - than Fuse's (maybe final, if we don't see him again) t-shirt, "SUNDAY". Incidentally, the colour attributed to Sunday in Thailand is also, yes, you guessed it, RED.

Despite it being the red episode, there was actually a lot of blue and yellow (see Aou above and Pakorn below for examples). I can reason blue could be because of Talay but the yellow I'm not so sure about (I come back to this later!). The very first shot of the ep is of Pakorn in the blue and yellow windbreaker...but in the ambulance Puen has changed to the other actor's top. Now, this could just be a continuity error...but it could also be very deliberate and I want to know why. (It could I suppose have been that before going into the ambulance they changed Puen out of his wet top and put him in the dry one of his co-star...but that doesn't seem like a likely scenario in an emergency):

But back to red...and the red we did get was small and subtle - one could say 'normal' amounts of a colour that we'd expect in our everyday lives. Perhaps to show that Puen and Talay are back to their 'normal' lives in their universe (albeit changed by Tess and Pakorn). @talaypuens wrote a fabulous post looking at this understated use of red, about how the red both represents Puen (in Thai, red = "daeng" - which sounds like how Talay kept drawing out the the name 'Dang' which he used for Tun in jest - and which can translate to being 'famous' or a 'celebrity'), and also as a symbol of things preventing Talay and Puen from getting to each other - literally as a 'stop sign'.

I loved Talay's time at the beach in particular, because we not only have the cryptic blue and yellow (of the fisherman's t-shirt and Talay's shirt) in the daytime but when Talay finally gets to the island at night, he's wearing a pastel red linin shirt. Maybe because on one hand he's closer to being with Puen again, but on the other hand the pink, along with the different blues of the sky, sea, and fisherman's t-shirt, and the slightly orangey-red of the boat, make up the 'Sea palette' that Puen named in ep 7.

The same colours which are in the painting beside Talay's bed as soon as he gets home:

I won't go through all the red instances (because @talaypuens did that in their post linked above)...but I'll just point out two which weren't included. First in the cinema, with Puen's pink beside Talay, the red behind...and Gyo in a blend of their colours beside him (red+blue=purple):

And earlier with Talay's friend group (miraculously accepting him back after a two-year estrangement). Just look at all that blue and yellow!

In their post, @talaypuens points out that there's a push and pull of the universe trying to get Talay and Puen together and this is shown in the the form of green vs red - the green "nature/set is organically telling them where they will eventually end up (the glass house), but the artificial inserts of red also is STOPPING them from letting it happen". And we see as the ep goes on that more and more of the screen is taken over by the green...which I realise now is made from mixing yellow and blue...so that could be the reason those colours are more prevalent in the beginning of the ep and less so after the green itself takes over. The above friend scene is one of the last ones with yellow in it, as is the greeny-yellow jacket of the interviewer in the following scene. Blue and yellow pop back again briefly in the cinema as Talay is rushing back to try to see Puen:

And then Talay and Puen finally meet at the glass house...which is full of green...but also both are wearing dark blue, and the fairy lights bringing in the yellow. Everything adds up to green. Everything is screaming GO. Finally.

But before we get the reunion, Talay reaches out to the pinky-red plant in the cage, perhaps representing Puen or their love (pink is them remember) but whilst they've been estranged from each other they are trapped, stunted, unable to grow and develop to their full potential. Or maybe the plant represents everything from the alternate universe and how it's shut away from them, unreachable, and potentially slowly dying...as memories do when they fade away...? @grapejuicegay also made some wonderful interpretations about this here: "Puen trapped back in this universe when Talay had to struggle to make his way back, Puen trapped behind the wall of fame that is keeping them from meeting".

And so we get to the end and this below, this was the only moment I felt we were back to the 'world' of Vice Versa. In Puen's bedroom, with the pink and blue feel of the lighting (along with that pop of golden light) that the past two eps have been leaning on so strongly. I felt a comfort, a familiarity, a sense of 'this is where we belong'...very much like Talay and Puen must be feeling to finally be back within each other's orbit, no?

And so for next week...I've done a lot of theorising already about the final ep colour and right now I don't think I could guess from the preview, so I'll just keep it to what I'd like it to be -> either a blue (for Talay) or a 'sea green' (to match the ocean blue) or silver (because of the moon reference we got in the preview), or even a violet/purple for @grapejuicegay 💜

These little easter eggs (the colour-wheel clock and artwork on the wall) might also be telling us that it's a light colour...or just giving us a red herring because the show has either purposefully left it blank or used two slightly different shades so as not to spoil it...we'll soon see!

'Transparent' has also been suggested (by @demichirua), which I like because Talay has been carrying a transparent bag this ep, but also because, as @grapejuicegay said: "the barriers between the universes are sort of clearing up for them" (if they do universe-hop again as the preview is leading us to believe).

Anyway, never trust a Thai trailer/preview...so I'm hoping they are just leading us on and that they won't actually switch universes again. There's a lot to suggest that they do universe-hop - Talay doesn't have his glasses on in one cafe scene (and in the bathroom and in bed), so it could be in the au, and sometimes Puen and Talay are wearing clothes more in the style of Pakorn and Tess...

But, there's a lot to suggest they also don't universe-hop - Talay has his glasses on even in scenes where their clothes look more like from the au (they could have just bought similar clothes in the ou because they've gotten used to them) and he also has his glasses on when he has the Friend Credits folder and when it looks like he meets Aou (who could be someone else in the ou like with Joe/Pramote -> @grapejuicegay here I go with my clown Dol agenda again because what if Dol makes it back and he looks like Aou in the original universe!). Remember, similar objects/locations exist in both universes...

Oh God, nonny. I realise you sent this ages ago, but I'm somewhat reluctant to go into this currently.

But, the short answer is: I do think they had a physical relationship. What I don't think happened was a secret affair where they were open with themselves, or each other, about their attraction. Nor do I think they would have considered what they were doing together as 'sex'. Longer stuff under the cut to save everyone's eyes.

I think essentially they'd act differently if they were having an affair. For example, we see them joking about it in Get Back. We know that both J&P were very keen not to been seen as gay. See: Bob Wooler, Paul's weird quote to the scruffs about why he had to get married, that interview where they're all complaining about being seen as queer if they aren't seen with women. So, joking about it on camera seems weird if they knew they had something to hide. It feels so wildly different from say, Brian suing someone for insinuating he was gay a few years earlier.

That's not all, of course. John literally says during the break up that perhaps they should have tried it and that "would have satisfied it". Paul is also... baffled by what's happening in the break up, which he surely wouldn’t be if they’d literally been together and then broken up. There's also this sort of vibe of unfulfilled something about it all ('estranged fiance'), and the way they keep almost trying again. It just feels a bit... I dunno, unfinished somehow. That's why I essentially think they didn't.

Plus, they were both SO fucking repressed and weird about each other, I just don't believe they did anything that they couldn't laugh off.

As for the second part... I think people mean different things by shipping to be honest. In this context, I mean it to be, "I'm really interested in this relationship and would like to explore it." For me that comes in two parts. One of which is trying to ascertain what I think actually happened. What I think their dynamic was and what factors played into that. The second part of it, is just to play with them like Barbies and making them kiss (like I did with my Barbies). I guess also to 'fix' the problems I've seen in part one, and use fanfic to help me untangle my thoughts about it all.

I'm also not really sure what the consensus is to be honest. I've seen it run the gamete on tumblr. I also think most people tend to feel, I dunno, defensive of their place in fandom. Because it is very varied and people go about it differently. I don't think there is a wrong way - other than being aggressive or rude, I guess - but when you find yourself with an opinion that's at odds with other blogs, it can be intimidating. I really try not to be rude about my opinions and just leave those who I know for a fact don't want me on their posts or whatever alone. But as I say, I think it probably makes a lot of people feel a bit lonely at times. Or, I guess I can only say, it makes me feel that way. It's hard not to take it personally sometimes, but mostly I try to curate my blog and do what makes me happy. So...yeah. I may well not be part of the consensus on what ‘really’ happened. But that’s cool! People are here for different reasons.

so Peggy has some lumps under her skin. we noticed them on Tuesday night, there's two of them close together on her hip. called the vet this morning and they got her in at 2pm and took a biopsy and they'll call me back either Saturday or Monday with what's going on, they won't speculate or anything, but I did the very unwise pet parent thing and took to Google and based on everything I can find it is most likely fibrosarcoma which is a difficult to treat cancer and also expensive bc it involves surgery and continuous radiation/chemotherapy for several months and frankly I don't care how much it costs I will go into all the debt for this cat, I have a 9k limit on CareCredit and am unafraid to max it out + my other credit cards it's not even the money that bothers me, but if I'm right about what it is the prognosis isn't great for long term health and that is going to break me. She's my baby, she's only 7, she was literally the only thing keeping me from going off the deep end at some points in college, she's supposed to meet the kids I want to have in a few years, she's been here for most of my adult life and I will absolutely lose my sanity if I lose her anytime in the next few years. she has to make it to 10, ideally she'd be around for another 10 years past that but I'm realistic, I know 12 is perfectly reasonable so that's what the goal has always been, I literally can't do this without her. and my partners love her SO. MUCH. Peyton dotes on her, he's only been around for 5 of those years but he is so so in love with this cat, she is our baby, I would be lost without her so uhh if this turns out to be what I am afraid it is, don't be surprised if long form rant text posts become more common here bc I will absolutely lose more than a shred of my sanity.

also I guess don't be surprised if you see some sort of fundraising post from me in the future bc while I am unafraid to max out credit cards those bitches will want their money back at some point and I am unfortunately not a rich bitch, although quite frankly that is the least of my priorities rn, I just want to do whatever I possibly can for my baby. logically I know that I've done what I can but the anxiety is running away with me rn. like what if the tiny spot I felt on her a couple months ago and then couldn't find again when I looked for it was this before it got big what if I could have caught it earlier I should have been more diligent in checking or made a note of exactly where the tiny spot was initially so even if I couldn't find it again maybe the vet could have? I know I didn't put it off substantially and I really trust this vet they've been great but I could HEAR her as they were trying to numb and biopsy the spots she was so angry at them and once they shaved the area it looks SO much bigger than we could feel, like we knew there was one spot but were iffy on a second one and you can see them so clearly now they're big and slightly discolored and I am afraid. thankfully she hasn't been acting any different like she was literally having zoomies this morning but the idea of not having her zooming around makes me want to crawl into a bog and be preserved for a thousand years okay

anyway i know I've posted pics of her at some point but it's been a while so idk what I tagged them or where to find them but if you believe in literally anything at all I would appreciate an appeal on her behalf like I know there are so so many bigger things going on but Peggy Sue is my baby. other alises include Soupy Peg, Miss Ma'am, Peggum, Pegasus, Peggle, Soupiest, etc if you would like to be specific.

I'm so glad most of the Og va's for the guys dipped asap when Jess started to go downhill. Afaik Andy and Pm Seymour (I honestly have no clue what to call him) are on to doing their own stuff now.

And my actual legit question! What do you think of Laurance and Garroth's characters slowly declining into like.. Nice Guy, kinda creepy behavior? Even watching it when it first came out ages ago made me uncomfortable.

Hi hi! no need to apologize for the spam notes, trust me when I say I get it a lot lol, I don't mind it at all.

The decline of Laurance and Garroth is literally what ruined the series, and Jess herself has acknowledged it before lol. Can't bother to find an exact quote right now, I think she mentioned it in a stream where she was talking about the state of Rebirth, but she's mentioned multiple times how she projected fan disapproval of Aarmau onto Garroth and Laurance at the time of writing, and as a result took the story in a direction she couldn't write in any longer. There's a reason all of S3 is privated on a second channel, and it's because Jess herself doesn't consider it + the ending parts of S2 to be fully "canon." (and at this point neither do I lol.)

I think I'm speaking for most people when I say that plotlines that rely on jealousy are overdone. IMO, they're boring, lazy, and were at no point in time ever good. Seeing them from two characters who straight up were not victims of this behavior until after it's established they wouldn't do it makes this even worse. Garroth gets the creep behavior long before the writing goes down the drain in S2. Every time I look back on the S1 finale and the moments leading up to it now I get sad because I know that the same character he had earlier in the season will never come back, and he will never be as interesting ever again.

A large amount of the people I see these days who hate Laurance do so because of his writing in late S2. I go back and forth on this a lot- I think ultimately Garroth got it way worse considering this sort of writing affected him way earlier than it did Laurance, making it unalterably tied to his character. But there is something incredibly heartbreaking about seeing two seasons of writing for what I think is one of the best-written characters in the series completely flushed away by a few episodes of clearly ooc writing. Garroth got less time than Laurance to develop considering his character was all but benched for all of S2, so in a way there's less writing for him to conflict with the weird jealousy angle they throw on later. This is absolutely not the case for Laurance, who has nearly two full seasons of screentime in the main cast, who emphasizes multiple times that he will still care for Aphmau whether she loves him or someone else.

I think a large part of what made Garroth, Laurance, and Aphmau's combined dynamic interesting was their mutual love for eachother, and how it didn't interrupt their friendship despite that. I've described it before as the fact that "They were still people beyond being love interests for her." (in this post here, in case I haven't rambled long enough for you and you want more on this topic) and I still stand by that wording pretty strongly. Not only did the jealousy nice guy angles ruin the characters for many, it ruined every part of their dynamics that was interesting.

Tldr me when im in a turning 3-dimensional characters into flat paper contest and my competition is Jess.

I love people drawing conclusions from a TIRE TEST. (Like, one of the first things the commentators told you guys during the televised FP2 tire test sessions was that these times meant nothing. That was one of the first things Chris Medland told you guys before posting times on Twitter). I have already seen the "So, when will people start calling for Lando's seat?" and "Lando only spun because he's feeling the pressure of Piastri." and "Lando's about to get humbled by a rookie." comments on Twitter and I'm just like besties ... we know nothing about fuel loads, we know nothing about what tire compound each time was set on. Truthfully the only thing we could make assumptions based upon is track evolution for drivers who set their fastest lap later. Considering Lando set his fastest lap before I even went to sleep about 6 hours ago, whereas quite a few drivers seemed to have improved since then (Oscar himself, Sargeant, De Vries, Doohan, etc.), and drivers even aside from Lando who we know are talented who also set their fastest laps before I went to sleep and didn't improve (George, Bottas) (who are both behind most of the rookies and young drivers who tested today. Hamilton as well. I assume we're going to start calling a 7 time WDC talentless and demanding his seat over a tire test as well?), I think people are wild for drawing conclusions based upon this. And we're criticizing him for spinning ... during a tire test ... where they're testing completely NEW tires? (My first thought was it's better than having a moment in the pits and nearly crashing there, sorry Lando ily), but I guess Alonso is also talentless since he had a moment as well? Also find it very weird how Lando is the only one getting any hate from this. I thought maybe getting away from Dan Stans, he could finally breathe without someone belittling his talent, but I suppose not (though to be truthful, after following McLaren pages this long, I had a feeling this would happen when they stuck with the Aussies (also not to generalize ALL Aussies, some I've met through F1 are super cool, but quite a few of the ones I've encountered on McLaren's IG/FB/Reddit/etc. are super toxic too). This isn't anti-Piastri either. I went to sleep GLAD that he was already seemingly meshing with the car and getting closer to Lando times, but these responses from his fans aren't it, especially when basically every McLaren/Lando fan I know has been excited for him and even HOPING he does well so one driver alone wasn't depended upon for most of the points. He could come into next year and beat the socks off Lando and I wouldn't be bitter towards him, but you can bet I'll call out any shitty fans. (But who knows? Maybe they should keep being shitty and toxic. We saw how that seemed to motivate and push him even more when everyone was saying Dan would ruin his career and send him to FE 🤷🏻‍♀️).

From what I've seen, most people who slate this sort of stuff don't even watch races, they watched DTS and now want drama. I was talking to someone at a work thing about F1 and they couldn't even tell me who'd won the weekend before (literally 3 days earlier) because they didn't watch it, they just liked DTS.... so another reason I ignore that kind of shit

We all know tyre tests don't mean shit, especially when they're not comparing like for like since Lando was testing the 23 tyres and Oscar was using the 22 tyres, and the other thing is even if they did mean anything it doesn't matter because they're the old cars. I can't wait to see the back of the MCL36 and judging from a couple of pics of Lando neither can he

Lando just gets under people's skin because they can't handle the fact they're wrong about him. It's literally that simple to me. All the pay driver comments and insults and accusations he's had priority or preference at the detriment of his teammate are all easily disproven because there's overwhelming evidence of his great performance through the lower Formulas, by the fact he won the McLaren drive and they loved him, by comments made by Fernando Alonso after the Daytona 24 (and my fave insta comment 'Bravo Landito'). And more importantly by the fact other teams want him - Horner literally came out and said recently they've tried to nab him on several occasions but he just keeps signing on to keep repping papaya, plus the fact that last year the team principals rated him 3rd in the top 10 drivers of the 2021 season, only behind Max and Lewis (aka the two fighting at the top for WDC last year...)

As for the Dan stans, we were never getting rid of them, they seem unable to help themselves from making comments (and of course this isn't all Daniel fans you know exactly who I'm talking about) but I had hoped for better from Oscar's fans (again, a handful and not the majority but you know what I mean). Especially when I haven't seen a single McLaren or Lando fan say a word against Oscar because the main thing we want is for Lando to not HAVE to carry the team on his back (*cough* 76% of the team's points Lando brought in *cough*) for another season

The fact these people saying about Lando's seat seem to forget Lando was offered one of the longest contracts aside from Max because McLaren know how good he is (*stares at Imola podium won in a fucking tractor and then at the overtake montage from COTA despite having lost the front left fairing*) and don't want him stolen from them, but yeah sure Oscar's absolutely gonna make McLaren sack him over times from tyre testing when Oscar was running the young driver testing which is a completely different thing 🙄

Hercules and Sora Parallels....sorta

OKAY! I made 2 posts about this earlier, but if you didn't see it then here is 1 and here is 2. Now before I do begin, I just want to say that this doesn't make too much sense. I just saw one scene and thought instantly about Sora. This is comparing the game scenes to Sora and a little bit of Riku. There is some proofreading, but sorry if something seems wrong or is off.

My posts were mainly addressing the situation in Olympus' world in KH 2. It's all centered around Hercules beating monsters for the crowd, but he isn't taking a break. Once we set foot in the world, we actually arrive in the Underworld and see Meg! She's running away from Heartless and once we save her, we find out what's been happening.

Apparently, Hercules wasn’t taking great care of himself and wasn’t resting. He believed a hero shouldn’t have to rest. He believes he should be able to keep going, to keep fighting, to keep helping others.

And others don’t notice. The crowd doesn’t see him falter, doesn’t see him stressed. The only two people who see it are Meg and Phil. Almost like how the only two people who see Sora struggle is Donald and Goofy when they are on their journeys....

Later in the story, Meg gets kidnapped by Hades and is used as bait for Hercules. However, Hercules is fighting the Hydra and can't save her, so Sora, Goofy, and Donald go instead. They protect her and get her to somewhat safety, but then Hercules comes in. He tells Sora, his companions, and Meg to get to safety, and they do. However, once they finally do, Meg stops them.

Meg is clearly worried and with good reason, too! She's seen Hercules fight, but she knows something is off and we do as well! The cutscene I mentioned in my other post proves it. He tells her she shouldn't worry, but then his smiles drops and he looks exhausted. It's so...similar to someone we know. Meg is just like Riku. At least, in this world she is. Riku fell into darkness to help Sora wake up, Meg went into the Underworld by herself to hopefully help Hercules. Riku literally DOVE into Sora's heart when he thought something was wrong. He wasn't going to leave him alone, just like Meg wouldn't leave Hercules alone. She believed in him, but she knew he was exhausted and hurt, just like Riku did in DDD. Sora had been taken advantage of and he knew he had to help, just like Meg did.

Sora and his companions listen and go back to Hercules and oh look at the poor man.

He is….worn out. He looks like he’s about to pass out and thankfully Sora does back him up. Once the fight begins, we actually see Hercules become the hero he tries to be. He begins to literally GLOW.

Now THIS looks like a strong hero, the one he wants to be, the one he holds himself to be. This glow is very important for what happens next.

Once the battle is over, they all rush back to the Coliseum and...oh no.

The Coliseum is destroyed and the people are (most likely) dead. Hercules falls to his knees and he blames himself. He takes in the damage and blames himself immediately. Not the monster, not Hades, but himself. And this is the part that just really kicked me in my heart and made me think of Sora.

DO YALL SEE THAT?? His entire glow is just...gone. It faded away. He believed he wasn't worthy of the title, "Hero," and saw himself as a failure in that moment. He thought it was his fault and all of his light was gone. Almost everything he cared for was gone...sounds familiar right?

Once I saw this scene I just thought of our Sora. Actually, I really just thought about Hercules in the movie, but this scene ALSO was good for me to compare. I bet you can tell what scene I'm going to compare it too :(.

This is the scene that I instantly thought of. Hercules is blaming himself because everyone is gone, and we see Sora go through the same thing.

He loses almost everyone, his believed light is gone, and he's so far that he can't see who's beside him. Just like Hercules. He had Meg, Phil, and Pegasus by his side, but he couldn't see them. He only saw his own failure and weakness, and I think we see that in Sora, too. The only thing he sees in his mind is the Heartless Tornado taking almost everyone he loves away from him.

Olympus just really brought me back to KH3 and one of the most emotional scene in the whole game series.

And honestly?? I kinda think it was important for Sora to see that in Olympus. Obviously, it's terrible that it happened, but I think it showed Sora that even heroes fail. Even the person who you think is perfect fails and isn't perfect. I really, deeply wish Sora got to see it a little more often. Not people dying, but seeing that people who are deemed perfect, fail and lose a battle. In KH3, I remember him seeing scenes of people sacrificing themselves for love, and GOSH HERCULES WOULD'VE BEEN A GOOD WORLD!! LITERALLY!

The scene of Meg pushing Hercules away from a falling pillar, seeing Hercules scream out for her and see her being injured, and then to see her say, "People do crazy things...when they are in love." I wish it showed Hercules going to the Underworld, literally swimming through souls and almost dying himself just to find Meg's soul. He finds her and literally brings her back to life. It's just so...good and sad. I know Hercules was in KH 3, but I wish this scene was. I believe it wasn't, so it would've been top notch sadness to include it.

I know this doesn't make sense and y'all might argue with me about how I said I'd make a good post about parallels, but I struggle with explaining my thoughts and just think that these scenes show such a comparison to Sora and Riku and how Sora is so sad and deserves a BREAK OKAY.

Your post on dyslexia is so interesting and informative. I used to teach kids with dyslexia, so wanted to know if you received any services in school. If you did, what seemed to help the most. Thanks! From a fellow spirk fan

I'm trying really hard to keep this short and relevant, but to be blunt, I'm not sure anything helped. Any help I received was usually incidental. We did a ton of things which are supposed to help teachers spot learning difficulties in kids- word searches come to mind (I couldn't do them at all when I was a kid)- but for whatever reason it never got spotted. I was always behind on my maths and concerns were never raised about it. It was super weird, but apparently my primary school had a bad reputation when it came to teaching maths anyway, so I guess it makes sense in retrospect.

I think what would have been most helpful when I was very young was not being traumatized by my teachers when I was 5 (to the point where I was terrified to get a maths question wrong. I'm sure too many people can relate to that).

I can remember two separate teachers calling me stupid when I was 6 (I think one of them called me stupid and another one yelled at me for blurting the (correct) answer out in maths class. (I had my hand up but she wasn't picking me and I could tell from her gaze she was going to pick one of the kids who always answered correctly in class, and I was just excited to finally have a correct answer). It feels so petty to bring it up almost 2 decades later, but idk man, it's also a petty thing to get annoyed at a literal child* for /lh).

*I couldn't even hit her with an “Ummm I am literally neurodivergent and a minor?”, because unfortunately it was 2005 and that phrase hadn't been invented yet.

It occured to me recently that I did receive a couple of instances of extra support in primary school, though for some reason it was only when I was 10 and was about to move up to middle school anyway.

The first instance was a group of 6 of us who were all given extra math tutoring before our SATS exams. After our SATS I was taken out of lessons to have one-on-one maths lessons with a student teacher. This was 13 years ago so I only remember it vaguely, but I think she was scheduled in once a week for about 6 weeks for half an hour at a time, and I'm pretty sure we spent the last 5 weeks finishing off a short story with a friend I'd started in English lessons, being supervised by the teacher the whole time.

I was tested for dyslexia as a 5 year old on my mum's request, but we didn't know I had it until 12 years later when I did another in-school test when I was 17. I've heard people mention this happening to other neurodivergent people, too (especially ADHD and autistic people)

I know when I was first learning to read my teachers provided me with "view-finders" or windowfinders (pieces of cardboard with small windows cut into them) so I could focus on individual words. When I was eventually diagnosed by the learning support at my high school, they did something similar and had me try out various pieces of cellophane to lay over the page so I could read it better.

The ironic thing is, I'd considered going to the learning support room years earlier, when I first got to high school, but I couldn't find it. Which makes sense in retrospect, because I'm not the best with directions, I just find it extremely ironic, because there were regular announcements that "the learning support room is always open. You can find it behind the lifts** on the ground floor", but every time I walked past the lifts, I thought there was a blank wall behind it. Turns out (as I only learned because the learning support teacher met me in music class one day and led me there herself) there's a very narrow corridor beside the lift, and you can only see the doorway once you're inside it.

TL;DR, I could have been diagnosed with dyslexia much sooner but the teacher I had when I was 5 was hostile, and by the time I'd begun to suspect I had learning difficulties, dyslexia/inattention/executive functioning prevented me from finding my way to get help 🥹 but overall school was okay, the rest of my teachers were supportive! I remember when I was 14 & 15, I really appreciated my chemistry teacher. He used to write with yellow on a dark blue background (and a sans serif font) because he said he'd read that it was easier to read for dyslexic people.

I could rant for days about how the school system in general is broken and learning support is only slapping a bandaid on an industry industry which is built on institutional ableism (and every other ism too), but ultimately as long as kids make it out of school alive, you've done your job as a teacher.

An Introduction to the Void

Hello to the void, here's a post that I hope doesn't make it to any conscious being. Why, you may ask, am I posting this online then? Why not write in a private journal if I want so bad to keep these thoughts private? Well jokes on you, void! I am doing that as well. This is going to be for thoughts that I wish to talk to someone about but I don't think anyone in my life would care enough to hear. Maybe I just want my NSA agent to feel pity for me. Then you may ask, if I only wanted my NSA agent to read my thoughts, then I should just write this on my phones built in notes app. Well to that I say, nothing...you have a point there...maybe there's a part of me hoping that this gets read. Maybe there's a part of me thinking that the one pornbot who will inevitably follow me will somehow give me some sage advice on my meaningless posts and rambles.

Well why exactly am I doing this? Maybe i want to document this for future generations. Hand down my ramblings like the divine family heirlooms they ought to be. ...I had much more eloquent thoughts when I was daydreaming about this blog earlier today, but as things usually are it doesn't manifest itself exactly as imagined when the time comes. But it just so happens that you, my void, have caught me at a very contemplative period of my life. 8 months ago I moved to a new country where I didn't know anyone and I had (who am I kidding *have*) a very remedial grasp of the language. It just so happens that at this time my boyfriend of 7 years broke up with me. As I had so much time with my thoughts, I started to have this desire to organize them. Before I moved to this new country, I hated being alone with my thoughts. Now, it's my favorite part of the day. I love sitting on the train staring ahead and thinking about my life. I love thinking about my future, my partner, my studies, my identity, everything! I find myself to be great company these days.

Now, I am going to mention this ex of mine frequently in these ramblings. This isn't because of some unresolved feelings I have for him or anything, but simply because I see him as an extension of myself. He feels like a time capsule of who I was for a long period of my life. 7 years is a long time for someone who's only 24. That's quite literally 1/3 of my concious life. Ages 1 and 2 don't count because I was nothing but a sack of sand at that point. 3-9 I was developing a sense of self, 10-16 I was discovering those around me, and then 17-23 I was coming into young adulthood with this one person. So, I think that has shaped a lot of who I am.

I think that part of the reason why I want to post this publicly is because of him. When we were together, he always posted his thoughts and feelings online. His most secret persona was on 4chan (I KNOW), which I was never allowed to see. I was always so curious about this secret world he kept from me. Who was he online? Was it the same as who he was when he was with me? What could he say to this mystical void that he couldn't say to me? I resented the void for this reason. I wanted to be the void for which he screamed into, but that is not something I could do for him. I realize this now as I go to scream into this void of my own. I thought about him while I was at work and I thought about how much I hated when he kept thoughts private from me. How he had a secret persona which only the void knew. Now I understand though. Now I wish to scream my thoughts into the void as well. But maybe a void that could potentially scream back to me...

Focusing on Myself ~ Day 16

December 30th, 2023 ~ New Years Eve Eve Saturday, 9:09 pm On my couch, in my pjs :)

Merry late Christmas and happy early New Year!! It has been a hot minute since I've written one of these. The reason being is that I've been in Canada since December 22nd until yesterday afternoon. My mom is from there so we have family there that we go and see every other Christmas! It was definitely a trip filled with all sorts of emotions but in the end, it was good to see those family members again and we had fun. :) Here are some photos I want to share from the trip:

Gotta start out with a Christmassy one; we had brunch at one of my cousins' and his wife's place and I loved their Christmas tree. :)

There was quite a bit of fog while we were there but it made for some cool vibey photos. ;)

Another vibey photo with the rain, through the town my cousin lives in where we also went to a thrift store! I saw this progress flag in the window of one of the houses and I loved it so much. Canada is a more accepting place than where I live, so seeing these types of things always gives me a lot of joy. <3

This also goes along with my last photo! I love the Canadian pride flag, this one was in The Alley Cat; a cat cafe in the town my relatives live in. It's a literal cat cafe. They have a room with a bunch of cats that are up for adoption and for a low price you can spend some time with them inside! They also have a normal cafe area that is very cute. :)

Continuing with books, of course...this is...yep. Yep. This is how many books I left Canada with. The top row are the books I brought with me, yes, I brought six books. (how was I supposed to know which books I would feel like reading??) I got two books at Fanfare Books: The Baby-Sitters Club: Claudia and the Bad Joke and Lightlark. I got three books at Coles, another bookstore in the mall we went to: Percy Jackson: The Sea of Monsters, Percy Jackson: The Titan's Curse, and Percy Jackson: The Chalice of the Gods.** Then, lastly, the thrift store finds. ;) Percy Jackson: The Lightning Thief and Looking for Alaska from the thrift store by my cousins' house I mentioned earlier! Then: Crossed, Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe, Variant, Shadow House, and Percy Jackson: The Last Olympian from Value Village, similar to Goodwill but bigger and better, in my opinion. Gotta love great thrift store book finds. ;)

** If you couldn't tell, I'm getting really into the Percy Jackson series. I've always been meaning to read them, but I just never built up the motivation to start a longer series like that. But once I heard the show was coming out and that Rick Riordan himself was helping direct it, that really made me want to start them. I'm only currently on the first one but I am loving it and hoping to finish it before all the episodes for the first season of the show come out! :)

Things I've done lately to better focus on myself ~

While I was in Canada, I took time away when I needed to have a breather and didn't feel guilty about it.

I enjoyed being in the moment and focusing on the people in my life that show their care for me instead of focusing on the people I have to work to get their attention.

I made illustrations that I love (I'll possibly post some later) and gifted myself some as well as a book I'd been wanting! <3

I've been spending a decent amount of my time creating things: illustrations, writing, making bracelets, and reading stories that I love!
