Revue Productions was as busy as Republic Studios in its prime after they commandeered their old lot. Later it was known as CBS Radford - home to the Gilligan’s Island lagoon and the Mary Tyler Moore Show newsroom. It was Mack Sennett’s “new” lot at the dawn of the talkie era. Studio City is named for it.

The 2nd top 10 of the 10s is for Animation, Manga and Comics:
10. Blast of Tempest (Anime)
Romeo, Hamlet and Prospero join forces to try and stop an evil tree. A thoroughly enjoyable series with probably the single best logic battle in fiction while working within the constraints of its universe.
9. Murcielago (Manga)
Yep, this is my trash, dumb action pick for this category. It’s very much a guilty pleasure, but I still have volumes on preorder so there you go.
It is your standard serial killer gets recruited by the government to kill other serial killers.
8. Kaguya-sama: Love is War (Anime)
This is one of the few comedy shows that has had me laughing consistently with every episode. And it’s also slow burn fanfic combined with Light v. L style battle of wits... with both parties trying to make the other confess their undying love first.
Basically it’s two people with incredibly high Int and incredibly low Wis trying to court and it is hilarious.
7. Amanchu! (Anime, 1st Season)
As I’m a fan of Aria, this should come as no surprise. This is just pure, distilled iyashikei. It’s the sort of series that will leave you content and smiling. It’s just a shame that the second season isn’t as strong as the first.
If you want something soothing, Amanchu! is a good place to start.
6. Shoujo Kageki Revue Starlight (Anime)
It’s Utena combined with an idol show with a lot of other tropes that come out of nowhere. The characters are great, the action is great, the songs are great. It falls a little short of greater heights as the plot is ultimately, fairly straightforward.
5. Jormungand (Manga)
This is where I will make a stand. I do not enjoy the Jormungand anime (or Black Lagoon, which it feels very similar to). The manga, on the other hand, is one of the best action series out. It follows the exploits of an arms dealer who is trying to bring about world peace. This mostly happens through a lot of violence.
The characters are all really good, and the art is just fantastic.
4. Bloom into You (Manga)
This time I’m putting it down as a manga because I haven’t seen the anime yet. There is a reason why Bloom into You gets recommended so much, it’s an extremely well written romance and the art is gorgeous. It may not be easy, but it is satisfying.
3. The Lego Movie & The Lego Batman Movie (Western Animation)
These are two of the best movies of the decade. I still need to see The Lego Movie 2 though... Anyways I digress.
Both films are funny and just good wholesome fun. I mean, The Lego Batman Movie is the best Batman movie in my opinion. The Lego Movie even ends up being surprisingly touching at the end.
2. Frozen (Western Animation)
The first of the two really big hitters for me. Frozen is what got me back into fandom. It helped me deal with depression. It let me meet so many new people.
It means a very great deal to me, and I’m sure you’re all at least vaguely familiar with it, so I’ll leave it there.
1. A Place Further Than The Universe (Anime)
Watch A Place Further Than the Universe. It tells the story of four highschool girls going to Antarctica. Compared to a great deal of anime, it feels very grounded, while still going on an adventure.
I’ll admit, my interaction with the series is different from a large number of people. I watched the series shortly after returning from my holiday to Japan. Where for a lot of people A Place Further Than The Universe is a call to go out and do the thing (whatever the thing may be). To me, it was nostalgic to the adventure I’d just been on, especially since the first half is set in Japan.
Either way, this has moved into being my third favourite anime of all time. Considering how... forgettable seasonal anime has made series, this is worthy of due note.

RV Camping at Disney’s Fort Wilderness
If you’re like me, you hear the word “Disney” and you automatically get filled with a sense of excitement and magic! I mean they pay attention to every tiny detail and always manage to create a sense of adventure and wonderment. So, of course, Disney’s Fort Wilderness is no exception.  After having spent some time there myself, I can say that it is definitely worth the trip.
Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground opened in November 1971. The resort has campsites and air-conditioned Wilderness Cabins situated on 750 acres of lush forest of pine and cypress trees. You will most likely see plenty of wildlife such as rabbits, deer, armadillos, ducks, geese, and peacocks roaming the grounds.
Tumblr media
The campground has private sites and features all the amenities of other campgrounds, with quite a few Disney extras.  It includes two heated pools that are open 24 hours a day, rental cabins, several restaurants and stores, a marina, playgrounds, tennis courts, horse and pony rides, a petting zoo, fishing, bike rentals, private carriage rides, and so much more.
To get you started, here are some tips to make sure you have a memorable stay at Fort Wilderness.
Be ready for the changing weather in Florida:
Since the campground is in Florida, it’s something the whole family can enjoy year-round. That being said, Florida’s weather can go from hot and humid to stormy—all in one day. Be ready for any type of weather by bringing shelter with bug netting (if you plan to eat outside), awning, and tarps for sudden downpours, and plenty of sunscreen.
Have a pet? Bring them along!:
Fort Wilderness is very pet-friendly and has a leash-free dog park. If you need to board your pet, the Best Friends Pet Care facility will take care of them while you visit the theme parks. For more information on pet policy, check it out here.
Rates and Sites:
First of all, to enjoy this fabulous adventure...you need an RV! We can help you with that part. We have many different RVs for you to choose from to fit your needs. All of them offer a luxurious camping experience;  www.camperfunpass.com is where you start.  Fort Wilderness has campsites for all sizes of RVs. Keep in mind, even with all those campsites, there are no pull-thru spots. So if you have a larger camper or trailer, you will need to back in.
The campground’s premium campsites are currently around $121 per night, versus a tent or pop-up camper site for around $78 per night. If you’re an annual passholder, you are eligible for significant discounts throughout the year. Availability varies and many times rates aren’t announced until three or four months in advance so keep an eye out.
Most sites are fairly secluded from one another by bushes and trees between sites. The campsites range in length from 25 to 60 feet.  Each site is about 25 feet wide and comes with a picnic table and charcoal grill.
All sites have electricity (20/30/50 amps) and city water. There are certain full hookup sites that also provide sewer. There are also partial hookup sites, primarily used by tent campers and those with tent trailers. When
booking be sure to specify the RV’s length, if it has slide outs or awnings, and any other details about its size when making a reservation so the right sized campsite is assigned to you.
Tumblr media
Things to bring:
Flashlight or lantern
Insect repellent
Charcoal and matches
Extension cord, rope or clothesline cord
Toolbox
Fire extinguisher
Hatchet/ax
Broom and dustpan
Trash bags
Outdoor rug
Water pressure regulator
Drinking water hose, gray water hose and holding container
Wheel chocks, leveling blocks
Roll of quarters for laundry, laundry detergent
And, of course, the keys!
Comfort Stations and Laundry Facilities:
There are a number of comfort stations located through the campground. The comfort stations are all air-conditioned and include private showers, restrooms, laundry rooms, phones, and ice machines. They are open 24 hours a day, with the exception of the laundry. The washers and dryers each cost $3. Vending machines for single-load laundry detergent, fabric softener and bleach cost about $1.
Getting around Fort Wilderness:
Unless you plan on walking endlessly all day to get to where you want to go in the campground, I highly recommend a golf cart, which we also rent out for your convenience. In case you forgot it’s...www.camperfunpass.com. Just a reminder, the campground is about 750 acres!
There are internal buses running within the campground to get you to the marina, the Trading Posts, pools, etc., but bus waits can be up to 20 minutes.
You gotta eat!:
Dining includes restaurants, dinner shows, and snack bars – all serving American food. Restaurant meals range from under $15 to $60 per person, based on the average Guest check, not including alcohol, tax and tip.
Crockett’s Tavern offers beverages and snacks such as pizza, quesadillas, etc.
Trail’s End Restaurant provides an all you can eat buffet for breakfast and dinner, a menu for lunch.
P and J’s Southern Take Out – carry-out items all day.
Chuck Wagon offers burgers, sandwiches, and salads to go.
Meadow Snack Bar offers salads, sandwiches, light snacks, and frozen treats to go.
Hoop Dee Doo Musical Revue an all-you-can-eat dinner show.
Tumblr media

A 50s Kid Goes to the Movies
Tumblr media
In my youth, four movie theaters existed in my hometown: the Castle, the Princess, the Royal, and the Starette. At one time or another, I went to all four of them -- usually with an older sibling or with a neighborhood friend -- because the movies were first-rate entertainment and the price was right. I paid fourteen cents for a ticket at the Royal on a Saturday afternoon to watch the Durango Kid riding his horse, Raider, and chasing bad guys. Oh, I could have stayed home and listened to the radio, or played cards, or built a plastic model airplane, but sometimes my imagination needed to be dazzled and my psyche needed the reminder that the good guys can win.
The Royal and Starette theaters were on Broad Street, in the middle of the shopping district. That made it convenient for my parents to give me change and send me into the theater alone while they continued to shop. They knew when the feature would be over and reminded me to meet them in front of a particular store upon my exit from “the show.”
It was fun sitting in a crowded, darkened theater with other kids my age, waiting for the curtained screen down front to light up with those images from Hollywood. Impatiently, the children would begin chanting, “We want a show! We want a show!” until a glow would appear on that screen. Then, a roar would go up from the crowd of kids, the curtain would part, and a cartoon featuring Bugs Bunny, or some other animated character, would illuminate the space and we would all cheer. We saw previews of coming attractions and a newsreel summarizing current events. Eventually, the featured presentation would begin and we would settle down to be enthralled by the latest adventures of one of our cowboy idols: Tom Mix, Red Ryder, Rex Allen, Gene Autry, Roy Rogers, Lash Larue, The Cisco Kid, Hopalong Cassidy, Smiley Burnette. Gabby Hayes, or other horse opera heroes. They weren’t always westerns but everyone seemed to love cowboys -- except when they pulled a guitar from a saddle bag and started singing or they did that mushy stuff, like kissing a girl. Many of those Saturday matinees were serials and would end with a cliffhanger to lure an audience the next Saturday. When the lights came up, I had to hurriedly exit the theater and rendezvous with my parents at our appointed location.
The Castle and the Princess theaters were across the street from each other on Main Street, a block or two from downtown. The Castle was the attractive, ritzy theater, with jacketed ushers, subdued lighting, plush carpet, and first-run, blockbuster, grade A movies (such as “Gone With the Wind”). The Princess was an older theater, with a grungy atmosphere, sticky floors, and a balcony that allowed its occupants to shower those below with popcorn or bubblegum. The Princess also seemed to schedule more B and C grade movies (such as “I Was a Teenage Werewolf”).
My brother was an usher at the Castle in those days so I went there more frequently. He would spot me in the crowd and either pay my admission or slip me some cash to get something extra from the concession stand. He also brought home a variety of those eight by ten black and white photographs they used as promotions in the theater lobby. The Castle not only showed the popular, most-talked-about movies but also introduced me to 3-D, which is how I saw “The Creature From the Black Lagoon” and “The House of Wax” -- as well as some western movie where Indians shot flaming arrows into the audience and a pioneer’s wagon overturned and slid off the screen right into my lap. Another technological advance at the Castle was Cinemascope, using an extra wide screen to surround the viewer with the latest Hollywood epic (such as “Ben Hur”).
The Castle also had “Bank Night,” a marketing ploy to sell more tickets on poorly attended Wednesdays, and the winning numbers would then be drawn for cash payout Wednesday night. The payout could be $25, $50, or even $100, which was big money back then. My next door neighbor’s mom regularly participated in Bank Night by having her son and me attend the Wednesday matinees so that she would be entered in that night’s drawing. As a result, I saw a slew of movies I had no excitement about (like those old black and white movies my wife likes on TV). In fact, to this day, my wife can be watching an old classic film on the Turner Classic Movies channel or the American Movie Channel and I will sense deja vu; I’ve seen this movie before.
I did attend a few live shows performed on the stage at the Castle. Besides local Christmas programs and dance revues, I remember a professional touring production of “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” when I was in elementary school. We got out of school to attend and admission was a can of food. Elementary-aged boys were excited about the opportunity -- not to see beautiful Snow White, but to see real, live dwarfs. Other popular attractions were the scary horror productions with the outlandish advertising (“Can you sit through the whole show? Ambulances will be standing by!”) These shows might feature a “live” bat flying over the heads of the audience, an effect rigged with an invisible wire puncturing the screen and stretching to the back of the theater.
Yes, going to the movies in our small town’s multiple theaters was a reasonably-priced entertainment alternative in my youth -- not to mention they were air-conditioned in the hot, humid days of summer. Today, I sit at home in my air-conditioned living room, watch Netflix on my 45 inch flat screen TV, and enjoy buttery microwave popcorn. Meanwhile, my hometown is down to just one theater, and it happens to be the Castle. I hear that it, too, will close soon.

Memory Maker & PhotoPass Tips and Review
Tumblr media
For this piece, we’ll be focusing on the programs as they operate at Walt Disney World.  Disneyland offers comparable programs that function slightly differently. Beyond function, we’ll also offer our thought on if it is worth the money.  For some guests, no review is necessary. Memory Maker may be included in your Walt Disney World vacation package, or it might be included with your annual pass.
What is Memory Maker?
Memory Maker provides the unlimited digital downloads of pictures taken by PhotoPass photographers throughout the parks, at character meals, and on select attractions. Pictures that PhotoPass takes.
Tumblr media
Memory Maker Vs. PhotoPass, What's The Difference? At Walt Disney World, the easiest way to differentiate between Memory Maker and PhotoPass is that Memory Maker is a package to be purchased that gives you access to the photos, and PhotoPass is the service that Disney offers with Cast Members taking your photo around the park. PhotoPass is a free service available to everyone, whether you buy Memory Maker or not. Things can get a little confusing because there are other PhotoPass-branded products around the parks.  Specifically, you may see ads for single-photo downloads, coffee cups and other merchandise with photos on them, albums, etc. available for purchase.  The important thing to keep in mind is that PhotoPass is the service and Memory Maker is the product/photos.
Memory Maker Costs & Value
There are two different price points for Memory Maker.  If purchased at least 3 days prior to your trip it costs $169 and if purchased to start immediately it costs $199.  For Annual Pass holders, digital downloads of all photos are included at no additional charge. A big perk to the PhotoPass and Memory Maker package is that it also includes on-ride photos and character dining. Currently, the ride photos included in the new package at Walt Disney World are; Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin, The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, Rock ‘n Roller Coaster, Expedition Everest, and Dinosaur. Seven Dwarfs Mine Train offers both on-ride photos and an on-ride video. Character dining locations included in Memory Maker at Walt Disney World are; 1900 Park Fare, Ohana (breakfast), Spirit of Aloha Dinner Show, Chef Mickey’s, Cinderella’s Royal Table, Tusker House Restaurant (breakfast), Hoop Dee Doo Musical Revue, and Princess Storybook Dining at Akershus Royal Banquet Hall. Sessions at the new PhotoPass Studios are also included in the package.  While not at the same quality of a private photo session they do provide some memorable pictures. Not to mention the various opportunities throughout the parks, which can be found with the MDE app, and during the various festivals like the Epcot Food and Wine Festival. Linking your group in My Disney Experience also provides a big advantage.  With creating the group, every photo scanned by any of your MagicBands are available to everyone within the party. This way, you don’t have to stick with a single person that has the PhotoPass+ card.
Is Disney's Memory Maker worth it?
For everyone, this becomes an individual decision.  I can’t say this is an easy yes or no. It comes down to a number of factors.  The first to consider is how many photos do you realistically think you’ll have taken?  If you’re planning on visiting most of the characters and want to focus on photos; it’s an easy yes.   I think people should also consider if they’ll do anything with those photos.  If they’re just going to wind up on a thumb drive somewhere, is that really worth it?  Probably not.   For us, the answer has always been an easy yes.  Our first trip we didn’t purchase ahead of time and reviewed after getting home and purchased them then.  Yes, this is an option - but it will be at a higher price. There really is something to be said for having everyone in the photos and many of the MagicShots are just that, magic.  A few examples are below:
Tumblr media
One of the newest, this Tiny World Magic Shot is at Black Spire Outpost within Galaxy's Edge at Hollywood Studios.
Tumblr media
One of the automatically linked ride photos from Seven Dwarfs Mine Train.
Tumblr media
Possibly the most sought after Magic Shot. Be prepared to wait for this one by the "Tangled bathrooms".
Tumblr media
Not a Magic Shot per se, but an expertly timed photo thanks to our PhotoPass photographer!
Tumblr media
A Magic Shot of my son and Pascal. No matter what you may still just not be able to justify the money.  It is not an insignificant amount. PhotoPass is still a free service.  The photographer will always take a few pictures for you with your own camera. But wait, there’s more… There are some additional benefits to the Memory Maker package.  You’ll also be able to add borders and other graphics to the photos if you want.   If you’re going to Blizzard Beach or Typhoon Lagoon water parks at Walt Disney World, Memory Maker also has more value because these photographers are positioned in a lot of fun locations where you probably couldn’t get your own photos from; like in the wave pools and at the end of attractions like Crush N Gusher. These photos can be a lot of fun, and definitely make PhotoPass a much better value. Beyond that, it certainly becomes a better value if you have a larger party or are taking a longer trip.  If you’re going on a two-week-long family reunion and 10 of you will be using PhotoPass photographers, you could realistically wind up with thousands of photos from the special trip, the cost per picture of Memory Maker may become worth it to you.  Obviously everyone’s circumstances are different in this regard, so weigh your circumstances accordingly when determining whether you should purchase Memory Maker.
Bottom Line
Overall, we tend to recommend it more often than against it.   Even if you’ve never purchased on-ride photos before, which we never have, they can make for some great pictures.
Tumblr media
Believe it or not, he actually loves Rock 'n' Roller Coaster! Especially consider it if you’re going to be taking a longer or special occasion trip.  If you are taking a week or longer vacation with a lot of family members, it is certainly easier to rationalize and you can always split the cost amongst the group. Thus, the longer your trip and the more people in your traveling party, the better of a value Memory Maker is. Openly, we’re usually pretty bad about remembering to take photos.  With Memory Maker we find ourselves ensuring that we get the pictures and have found ourselves really treasuring them.

Inside Out
It was sometime past midnight that humid Monday in Orlando the one place she vowed never to return. Eve Munro held the final pose. Steady and strong as a marble sculpture. Exactly as choreographed. Precisely on her mark. The International Dinner Experience wasn’t unlike the many theaters she performed in since she was five years old. Wooden floor, bulky forest green curtains, footlights, tree stands in the wings, scrims, spot lights in the balcony, one on either side of an impressively equipped sound and lighting board and the musicians’ loft. Ordinary, the theater watched scores of performers come and go over the years. It held secrets and dreams galore. The place seemed innocuous but soon and unplanned it would become a vehicle to the place of questions with no answers.
If Eve stood there much longer she would know exactly how many seats it held including dimensions. Christ almighty. She waited for the dance captain to speak up so she could relax her position for God’s sake. Her left foot hurt like a bitch and her back was angry from overuse. Not one to project less than iron like tenacity she slowly softened her diaphragm and took a deep breath. For fuck’s sake, she thought, what’s the deal?
Without moving and through her smile she asked, “Am I there? Can I?”
Luanne Brooks, the long time dance captain of the only dinner theatre in town, laughed, “Oh I’m sorry sweetie. Of course. Look at you. Gettin’ it on the first run.” She was a southern talking long legged brunette. Not much to look at but had the goods to sing and dance in the show as well as a daytime shows at a local theme park revue. “I was in a daze just fer a second. Yer really good.” Her genuine smile faded and she looked down and most crucial Eve saw.
“Shit. Seriously I’m not getting hired,” she thought. Eve was exhausted and had to pee like the time she drank four Budweisers in one hour. As she bent to unbuckle her shoe the awkward look on Luanne’s face made Eve feel anxious. The athletic, slender performer plopped and sat on her butt. Certain her voice sounded desperate she controlled the words, “Any notes? How was the section with the leaps?” She needed this gig. The move from Miami was one month ago exactly and so far she only taught some ballet classes plus the evil six o’clock in the morning aerobics classes and two more of those bastards a day five days a week. She freaking hated them putting on the happy you can do it face for the overweight, uncoordinated and sometimes lazy students who ran out of breath after five minutes, but hey money gets tight when the salary gap is widened and there was Dawson, her eight year old daughter, to care for. Eve had to work. She wiped the sweat from her chest onto the pullover wrapped at her waist. She cleansed her lungs and deliberately procrastinated what needed to be done next. Like hundreds of times before she pulled back the foot section of her tights and picked at moist medical tape. Her pinky toe was broken, again, the third time to be exact. Admittedly she was a klutz off stage because, as instructed for many years, she did not look down when walking. Seemed her last toe was always getting cracked against a piece of furniture or what not. Earlier before rehearsal she wrapped pinky and the next toe together for some stability. The tape rubbed the bare skin raw and blisters popped up. Blood on the bandage was no surprise. “Oh shit. Ow ow ow.” she did it quickly dragging some skin along with the tape. Her almond shaped blue eyes
focused on Luanne’s expression as she reached over for her dance bag in the wings.
Luanne looked at Eve and as habit she massaged the back of her neck and said, “It was great. Kurt wasn’t fibbin’ about you. Better than a rodeo horse riding queen’s barrel contest breakin’ a speed record.” She laughed but it sounded fake. “Hey how ‘bout a break? It’s gettin’ late. Want some water? Oh do ya’ have any questions?”
Eve used her bag’s shoulder strap to slide it across the stage closer to her. She felt around until she found the bottle. After a decent gulp she said, “Thanks but I brought my own water.” Damn. Loss of patience yielded sarcasm so she quickly softened her tone. “I do. But right now all I want is to know is if I’m getting cast in the show?”
“Oh golly. Silly me. Of course. Kurt told us how good ya’ are. Yer goin’ on the schedule for this weekend. I hope that’s okay sweetie. And we still have the costume fitting. It’s two shows a night. Seven thirty and nine forty-five.”
There was the neck rubbing again and repetitive knuckle cracking. Eve ignored that and clapped, “Thank you. Thank you.” A wave of relief and gratitude lightened any doubts allowing her body to relax a bit. “I can’t wait to tell Kurt. Yes. Yes. He’s going to be happy. You made my whole day. Maybe you can put in a good word for me where you and Kurt work. You’ve seen I learn choreography like that,” she snapped her fingers and showed her first genuine smile all evening. Eve’s at rest face made her look mean so she took care when meeting potential employers not to come off as a bitch. Either way she was beautiful with a pleasing heart shaped face and good skin which proved an asset in her career. Many friends confessed when they first met Eve they were standoffish but once they took the time to get to know her they found she was funny as hell and quick with comebacks. Even Kurt treaded lightly around Eve when they met seven years earlier.
Kurt Lansing was Eve’s husband. He too was a dancer but lacked the definitive drive for perfection Eve had. They loved their careers and each other. He was Eve’s knight in shining armor when he rescued her from the previous abusive husband. They were carefree show biz gypsies relocating every six months or so, depending on contracts. Eve loved Kurt with her whole being.
As Kurt would say, “We’ve got the perfect family.”
Three peas in a pod doing what they loved and making great friends along the way. Eve and Kurt were sometimes cast as partners. They practiced at home and rehearsed lifts in the pool with Dawson there enjoying the water show.
Eve did not dance only because she liked to. She danced to breath life into her soul. Or maybe visa versa but each time she made an entrance onstage she felt a vital energy surface. Sensual overflow. When partnering she fit with Kurt’s body perfectly and brought a vibrancy to the choreography. Rhythm, movement and two melting into one, was a turn on. Sometimes she felt guilty that she found the secret sensuality of dance because it happened with almost any partner. Once a show closed it’s run though any fantasies disappeared with it.
They projected the perfect ideation of family. Except for that one time. The time she learned about Kurt fucking her girlfriend, a chorus girl in the Freeport show. Tanya and Eve shared a spot in the dressing room, trading stories, applying show make-up and styling their wigs every night. Eve considered Tanya her best friend. Sadly, Tanya’s husband Miguel came along for that run and certainly was affected by their marital treason. Eve still struggled with the reality of the debacle. The worst of it for her besides the thoughts of her husband’s dick inside Tanya’s slut vagina or elsewhere was her naivety. Eve was not not a jealous woman. She genuinely trusted Kurt. Once out in the open though she was obviously the last to learn of the grand love affair. From time to time she’d torture herself with mental rewind of how many times she must’ve have been labeled as the ultimate jack ass. Fool. Court jester, dumb blonde. Tanya the cast and crew, everyone of them betrayed Eve. Maybe not with malice but then negligence. Someone could’ve warned her, left an anonymous note, anything. Eve came to find out those two had been with each other for months.
Confession night it was pitchblack. Eve remembers walking alone during a torrential June downpour with no destination in mind. How many movies showed similar cliche scenes? No matter. She never bought into the boo hoos or fear the characters were meant to portray. Too melodramatic. What was the purpose? She found out that night for herself at least. The affair made her feel dirty, used, trashy and stupid. At one point she cried so much there was no difference of tears and rain. Running didn’t make a difference. Her hopes the rain could wash away the truth and take with it the immoral filth she believed infected her. It felt like she had a contagion and no one would get close to her again. Eve stopped and raised her face to the sky mouth wide open. She kept on her journey to nowhere, staggering, stumbling on the uneven pavement. Then came the devil of insecurity. Which she, in a way, welcomed. It was better than the burning wound of emotional betrayal. What did she or didn’t she do to cause this? Silent promises bounced around inside her head. Vows she would fix it. She would fix herself and become the dream wife. Her mental list included cooking more often. No limitations on sex or anything Kurt desired in the bedroom. It was her goal to please Kurt at any cost. A new look. Makeup and hair styled on her one day off.
Sad. A lone figure in the dark. Soggy sagging sweatpants and a tank top heavy from the drenching hung from her frame, barefoot. She postured like a pathetic beaten dog. Eve pulled at her hair over and over. Somehow it felt good. At least it was tangible. Better than invisible emotional torture. What? No. The burning pain on her feet made her look them over and sure enough they were sliced in several places. A fallen tree filled in for a chair and she rested on it’s dried, rough bark, relieved the dramatics were easing. By now the rain was trickling and she had no more tears. Not even left- overs to bring out if necessary. The fog of irrational thoughts cleared as Eve played back some more tropical island happenings. Bad idea.
A good portion of the show’s cast lived in a cluster of rental homes on stilts next to a private lagoon. Eve and Kurt were in House 3. Directly across from them lived Tanya and Miguel. A large swimming pool sat smack in the middle of the circle of houses. There were numerous barbecues, parties and bonfire get togethers. Fun.
Infidelity is not stagnant therefore it’s roving energy finds unintended victims and witnesses. The truth is, infidelity doesn’t have to happen. Simple. Finish one project before taking on a new one. Sure there will be sadness. But sadness vs lies and betrayal, Eve would choose any day.
That was over with though. She told Kurt that was his one chance to be a piece of shit and if he ever did it again she was gone. She quickly dismissed the cheating and put it aside. Eve decided to just enjoy this good news.
The two dancers headed to the stairs. Luanne turned off the stage work lights. Immediate change of surroundings. Eve spent her life backstage yet was terrified of dark empty theaters. She glanced up at a spot light and with it’s canvas cover draped over, it resembled a ghostly figure from any one of the scary movies Eve loved. She swiveled to change the view and scared herself more with the myriad of shadows and set pieces lurking. Staring back she picked up her pace still wearing only one shoe.
Luanne led the way and not fast enough for Eve’s bladder. Midway up she stopped, turned and looked into Eve’s eyes. She let her dark brown hair down and shook her head. “You seem like a such... a nice such a nice person. Lordy we don’t know each other. But you deserve to hear the truth.” She struggled to form a sentence, “You, he oh golly damn. Kurt and Gwen are not only co-workers and they’re not friends. They’re havin’ an affair.”
Eve nearly fell backward down the stairs when Luanne hugged her close for an uncomfortable length of time. Eve felt paralyzed and empty. What should she say? Thank you? Are you sure? Does Gwen’s husband know? How about, can you please help me get this knife out of my heart, find a bucket for me to puke in, become steady legs instead of my shaking ones, and last can you glue my life back together and we’ll just leave the last part out?
Luanne’s face paled and a vertical worry line formed as her eyebrows grew taught. “Honey I gotta skedaddle. I’ll call ya’ with the schedule. Good job tonight. Drive safely.” She couldn’t get out the stage door fast enough.
Eve , twenty-seven years old a mother, a wife, an accomplished dancer, actor, model so many fucking things but what fucking good was she? The dance bag dropped with a thud. Eve sat and took off her other shoe dropped it as if it was too heavy and cradled herself. She put her head on her knees and slowly took her bandana from her short blonde hair. Several minutes passed only her breathing interrupted the silence.Without a sign of intention Eve ran to the stage hit the light switch, turned on the music and danced. Turning, kicking, swaying, writhing, slithering, jumping. Eve kept dancing. Her lungs begged for mercy but she didn’t offer any. When the music went silent her movements became peculiar for a classically trained ballerina. No coordination or technique as if against her will, controlled by an invisible force. Not dance. It was more like a desperate search. Up stage, down stage from one side to the other. Much like aged films of asylum patients searching halls for their minds. She finished front and dead center of the stage’s apron. Her lungs on fire for all she knew. The agony and anguish came from the inside out of Eve’s body.
Eve sensed a misalignment in the marriage lately. Probably stress from a new home and a new job. Kurt mentioned Gwen’s name at least three times last week. Pink flag, but it furled in the back of Eve’s mind. He insisted she and Gwen should become friends and p
Eve would really like her a lot. Red flag. Eve flat out dismissed common sense for fairy tales and ignored her intuition. Two nights ago she and Kurt went to a party where Eve talked with other singers and dancers, had a drink and mingled. She started to enjoy herself but it didn’t last long. She turned the corner into the kitchen where perfect timing made Eve watched Gwen bend over to open the oven door and Kurt smacked her on the ass, Their immature giggles proved that was not the first time they’d played together. Eve’s stomach did a somersault and the horrific feeling of humiliation, abandonment and betrayal endured from his last affair awoke from slumber. Eve found it impossible to rationalize the pain of love. Her thoughts were incoherent. Eve Munro had lived some life already, but her naive ego never expected adultery. It was more likely she’d grow a new pinky toe than be cheated on. Not in her plans. Foolish it never came to mind.
She stood center stage. The stage. The stage was a sacred place for Eve where she felt safe and wanted. Dancing for an audience was her high. She had dabbled with drugs but wasn’t for her. Nothing brought ecstasy to her core like dancing. She fell to her knees. The sounds she made were like hiccups but lower in her belly. Soon she was crying then dry heaving. Thoughts of Dawson filled her mind and she feared her reaction was a deadly seizure. She rolled onto her back, pounded her fists on the floor. She wanted out of her skin. Shed it all. Start new. Her grief backed off and gave in to sleep. When she woke the epiphany that true life held the real demons was clear. For the first time Eve welcomed the darkness and walked amongst the shadows with determination.
Eve understood what was ahead of her. She turned the lights off. Now nothing scared or hurt her as deeply as the ugly lies tossed her way from Kurt. Eve’s empty darkened heart erased the fears of dark theaters that ran wild in her imagination. Eve loved the stage more than yesterday because the stage loved her. The stage never betrayed but waited patiently for her next entrance.

The low-down on Disney Resorts
When going to Disney World, one of the most important things for your own convenience is to stay on site. This is due to the perks you get for staying on site, which include:
·         complementary transportation to and from Orlando International Airport,
·         baggage pick up/drop off services to and from Orlando International Airport,
·         easy access to the complementary transportation around Disney property (ferries, buses, monorail, boats),
·         Extra Magic hours,
·         earlier access to dining and FastPass reservations,
·         use of the Disney Dining Plan,
·         package delivery options for purchases made in other locations on the WDW property
·         Access to resort pools, and walking paths
There are three tiers of resort on the Walt Disney World property; value, moderate, and deluxe.
Deciding factors to picking a resort to stay at are varied; why you’re going to WDW, how many people are in the travelling party, and the age spread therein.
Value Resorts (Disney’s All Star Movies, Sports, and Music, Pop Century, and Art of Animation resorts) are great when travelling with large groups or with small children, travelling on a budget, or for a quick getaway.
Pros:
·         Comfortable rooms
·         Families seeking privacy can look into family suites
·         Great pools for relaxing when not in the parks, (the Art of Animation pool plays music underwater!)
·         Food courts with tasty quick-service choices and variety, open 6:30 am until midnight
Drawbacks:
·         Slightly longer bus travel times, depending on location and destination
·         Shared bus line for the three All Star resorts, which can cause travel delays and crowded buses during peak travel times
·         No table service dining options at the resorts
Special Mention: Fort Wilderness Campground and Cabins
In between the value and moderate resorts lies the unique puzzle piece of Disney resorts that fills multiple needs. This is Disney’s Fort Wilderness Campground and Cabins. On the lower-price side, for people who want to camp in tents, spaces are available for $14 a night. For retirees and people travelling with RV’s, you can set up at a campsite for any time period; from three days or two months. Cabins sleep up to 6 people with kitchens, cookout areas and other amenities of moderate resorts. If you’re a camper, this is a luxury campground. Included with reservation are hay rides, hiking trails, jogging paths, petting zoo, and easy access to fishing, archery, horseback riding and more. Dining is towards the value side, except for offering of not one, but two dinner dining shows; The Hoop-De-Doo Revue (3 times a night) and Mickey’s Backyard BBQ.  All of this comes with both bus and boat transportation around the Disney property.
Moderate Resorts (Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, Port Orleans- Riverside and French Quarter, Coronado Springs, and the Cabins at Fort Wilderness)
·         Rooms are slightly more spacious than value resorts
·         Recreational gyms are available at these resorts, and some of them also feature spa amenities.
·         Improved dining options: most, but not all, moderate resorts have both quick serve and table service restaurants on site
·         More recreation activities:
o   fishing trips are available out of Port Orleans and Fort Wilderness Lodge
o   horse and buggy rides are available out of Port Orleans: French Quarter
o   tennis and volleyball are available at most moderate resorts
·         Shorter travel times to parks and Disney Springs
·         Some resorts have alternates to bus transportation, such as the Port Orleans boats to Disney Spring, and Fort Wilderness boats to the Magic Kingdom, the Transportation and Ticket Center, and the resorts ringing the Seven Seas Lagoon
·         Live music acts are found at the Scat Cat club at Port Orleans-French Quarter
·         Rumors abound about upgrades to Coronado Springs and Caribbean Beach resorts, including a direct entrance into the World Showcase side of EPCOT
Deluxe Resorts (Disney’s Grand Floridian, Contemporary, Polynesian Village, Wilderness Lodge, Animal Kingdom Lodge,  Boardwalk Inn, Beach Club, Yacht Club resorts)
Deluxe resorts are considered “deluxe” due to the fact that they have signature dining options, close proximity to theme parks, multiple transportation options, a variety of relaxing lounges, and access to spa amenities. People travelling with young to early adolescent children would often rather enjoy closer proximity to Magic Kingdom or Animal Kingdom, depending on preference. Parties with teenagers or adults may prefer the EPCOT area resorts.
·         Most deluxe resorts have at least one signature dining establishment under their roof
o   These are some of the finest restaurants on Walt Disney World property
·         Deluxe resorts also feature quick-serve areas
o   Especially ideal for a quick breakfast before hitting the park.
·         For a slower pace, many resorts feature buffet restaurants
·         Deluxe resorts generally have larger, more intricate pools, and more recreational offerings, including fishing excursions, water sports, tennis, volleyball
·         Transportation from deluxe resorts to the parks, especially when travelling with children, can always be made into an adventure.
o   Bus access is available to all parks from any resort
o   Monorail transport to Magic Kingdom is available to the Grand Floridian, Polynesian Village, and Contemporary resorts
o   Boats to Magic Kingdom are available from all the Magic Kingdom area resorts
o   Friendship boats run from EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios around Crescent Lake to the Boardwalk Inn, Beach Club, and Yacht Club resorts
When trying to decide on what you’re looking for in a resort; how big is your party? What is the composition of your party? Where do you want to go? Do not try to do everything at Walt Disney World in one trip. Leave time to enjoy the memories you make and to get around using the WDW transportation to see what you want to see. Remember: it’s a vacation. You’re also going to want to have time to relax and enjoy!
Any questions, about finding the perfect resort, or anything about Disney planning, the ask box are open, don’t be a stranger!
