I DID IT
I MANUALLY INSTALLED ARCH!!!
I FIGURED OUT FDISK WOOOOOOOOO
I Set myself the task to install arch manually as a challenge not thinking i could do it but i did!! It was a steep learninf curve and I still have a hell of a lot to learn. But now i know a lot more on disc partitioning! And im getting better at the places i need to look with configs. I also did some work with GRUB and it makes wayyyyy more sense.
Im very pleased with myself :DD
I have a question for the true @arch-official
What challenge should i set myself next to do with arch or other distros.?
I know i need to setup a DE and get Sudo installed but still :3
#arch linux#linuxposting#i had fun#it was hard but i did it :D#i use arch btw#actually am i allowed to say that?

sell me on yiffos without using the letter E or barking
can i howl? a brain such as my own can fail to find words to fit into such a tricky condition
yiffos is a fantastic option for a distribution wholly faithful to maintaining an outward front of yiff consumption to any body looking on you with a suspicion that you, in fact, do not look at yiff on a daily basis. Running with it as an addition to your basic input/output program is as if you stay, constantly, grasping at and analyzing striking and artistic possibly pornographic crafts of all forms of anthropomorphic animals. you will find your body and mind in a vast and rich world of humanistic dogs, rats, big cats or six-foot-two bats, all of which may sport a lack of pants or bras, or both.
Anything contrary to this goal is simply a way to show off your prodigality to a passing of any particular occasion. Pragmatically, if you do no carry a wish to display a proclivity of yiff consumption to a fault is not your plan, as shown with your indication that i cannot bark, why study this distribution's utility? run along, scallywag! you will not find dissipation in your goal to troll an old and graying wolf-dog such as I! my distribution is archaic, its programs carry a proclivity for fucky, fatal flaws for a notion of unassailability typically sought from such a critical part of such a combination of silicon and algorithm such as that which is a driving topic of this ask.
anyway: awooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!
#in addition you will find no such symbol in my tags#holy shit that was fun as fuck#i think i cooked#BARK WOOF WOOF WOOF AWOOOOOO#linuxposting#linux#yiffos#linuxpostingimamorataposting

if soneone reported u to debian for trade mark violation what would happen
Organizations (and companies) don't tend to be as hellbent on cracking down on infringement as the entities representing them are, from what I've gathered. But if Debian was made aware, they would have to choose between sending official permission, or a cease and desist. In the latter case I'd make a new pseudonymous account on fedi, post about it here and then retire this account.
this is my understanding as a layperson please don´t take this as truth
#yeah ive thought about it#i would really miss having a large audience to spread my propaganda to but honestly id be fine with it i think#as long as it doesn't get me kicked out of the linux blogs group chat lol#i met a wonderful friend through this blog and i have to trust that i reached at least a few people with#infosec and linux knowledge and transpositivity so this has all been worth the significant time investment already#besides it being fun to hang out with yall ofc

How to enable Hardware acceleration in Firefox ESR
For reference, my computer has intel integrated graphics, and my operating system is Debian 12 Bookworm with VA-API for graphics. While I had hardware video acceleration enabled for many application, I had to spend some time last year trying to figure out out how to enable it for Firefox. While I found this article and followed it, I couldn't figure out at first how to use the environment variable. So here's a guide now for anyone new to Linux!
First, determine whether you are using the Wayland or X11 protocol Windowing system if you haven't already. In a terminal, enter:
echo "$XDG_SESSION_TYPE"
This will tell you which Windowing system you are using. Once you've followed the instructions in the article linked, edit (as root or with root privileges) /usr/share/applications/firefox-esr.desktop with your favorite text-editing software. I like to use nano! So for example, you would enter in a terminal:
sudo nano /usr/share/applications/firefox-esr.desktop
Then, navigate to the line that says "Exec=...". Replace that line with the following line, depending on whether you use Wayland or X11. If you use Wayland:
Exec=env MOZ_ENABLE_WAYLAND=1 firefox
If you use X11:
Exec=env MOZ_X11_EGL=1 firefox
Then save the file! If you are using the nano editor, press Ctrl+x, then press Y and then press enter! Restart Firefox ESR if you were already on it, and it should now work! Enjoy!

Everyone asks me "why would you use linux when you have next to zero programming knowledge" and not "searching for a reddit thread on how to add a certain functionality that windows includes by default looked fun was it fun"
#to be clear this is a pro-linux post. linux haters dni#linux#original#(the answer is yes it was fun 😁)

Fun fact: Divinity OS 2 Definitive Edition contains the entire original game too. As a separate game. That means when you install it you get 30GB of data that serves no purpose if you actually want to play the DE. You can basically delete the "Data" folder. Just keep the "DefEd/Data" folder.
(This is true for the GOG version, idk how it works on Steam.)
#divinity original sin 2#less fun: my 500GB SSD only has a 150GB windows partition#not easy to free up 60GB for the installation#i had to delete tons of files or move them to the linux partitions and install the game from a USB stick#only to immediately delete half the data again lolol#great work larian

my PC: hey uhh we're ending support for this mildly decent version of windows in like a year, so how about you go ahead and upgrade btw even if you say no we're gonna take you to the download page so you have to say no twice
me:

#you want me to upgrade make windows 11 not the worst thing ever#ppl keep making fun of freeware users but the slight inconvenience is worth it to me so I'll see you soon linux#no ai bloatware no built in spyware no ads in the file manager no no no#I'm hella particular about my electronics and if it can't look or work the way i want it to I'm out
