Like a Kazak family that takes her in during a snowstorm and gives her a new shirt
A pair of Ukranian brothers helping her around Odessa and their sister gives Anya a traditional coat because it's far warmer
A Polish woman who gives her a shawl embroidered with beautiful flowers
A Lithuanian family who let's her stay with them during the harshest winter months and teach her dances in their barns and gives her a traditional skirt because her old one was small and torn
A Russian farmer showing her how to make felt boots
So by the time she reaches Leningrad it's impossible to tell where she's from because her clothes are a collection of different cultures and ethnicities mingled in the Russian population

"Vilnius train station sells a lot of crosses and icons cause Lithuanians are super Catholic" - I'm gonna tell you a secret but airports and train stations in every country tend to sell stuff which is... popular among tourists! For example, some Latvian train stations still sell matryoshkas - but believe me, if you assume that Latvia loves russia because of this, you're gonna end up in a huge trouble.

Are we really going to pretend Takin Over The Asylum doesn't have a pitch that smokes 80% of Netflix original series
#this show is fucking good#and it doesn't always happen that you see something from the 90s in 2022 and don't find parts that cringe you out because nowadays#they are considered intolerant in some way or another#I don't know if I made myself clear but I think this show was ahead of his time#I'd say mainly with the fact that the characters are neurodivergent and sure they know it but there isn't some sort pity towards them#like their life can suck but it's not inherently because of their mental illness that is not demonized#fergus did the do because they wanted to keep him like a fucking guinea pig not because he was schizofrenic#and Eddie is not your middle aged man that because is the main character is for no reason charismatic and women fall at his feet#you know what I'm talking about#he is a normal person and he also has a problem with alcoholism which is not glamourised he is not a 'cool' alcoholic#and the cult like salesmen world they show is still very relevant today I loved that#1994 didn't deserve this show it was too ahead of its time#also I liked Eddie lithuanian heritage#it's unusual but refreshing to see this main character who's an average white man but also hey second or third generation immigrant#taking over this asylum#you can learn things from these show on how to write storylines and characters
