Pokémon Journeys 132... 

25 years had to pass... 25 years of adventures, challenges and obstacles, growth and learning... And today those 25 years ended. WE CAN FINALLY SEE HIM AT THE TOP, ASH IS THE WORLD CHAMPION!!! I have already seen the chapter 3 times, and god, WHAT A CHAPTER, the animation, the drawing, the soundtrack, everything was incredible. Really, how nice it is to see one of your favorite characters, whom I have seen all my life, achieve his goal.

Other drawing I’ve silently developed in late August to give in hands to @skyecrystal​​​ once I would travel again to Kalos France! I recently had the pleasure to meet her in flesh after two years of message exchanging and decided to make her a watercolour illustration of Ritchie and his full Pokémon party ^^. It was a fun piece to create!

Facts about the Charmander Family

1. Charmander is based on the mythical salamander

No, I’m not talking about the real-world amphibians that have nothing to do with fire. Salamanders were described as creatures of fire who could even roll up into balls of fire. There was a very outdated belief in the era of Aristotle that salamanders had the ability to withstand flames and even extinguish them. This is why popular culture sometimes likes to mix the amphibians with the fire spirits.

2. Charizard inspired the naming of a real-life species of bees

That’s right, entomologist Spencer K. Morton named a species of bees Chilicola charizard. He was supposedly inspired to name them after Charizard because of their mountainous habitat and the orange coloration of the first one observed.

3. Charizard is the only ride Pokemon in the Alola games that is not even in the Alola Pokedex

Charizard is the ride Pokemon that allows the player to fly around but is not even in the Pokedex. In fact, it is not available at all in Pokemon Sun and Moon without trading. In Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, it becomes available through catching a Charmander with the island scan and evolving it.

4. The number of fingers on Charmander seems to fluctuate

Charmander’s original sprites show it with three fingers on each hand. The artwork above clearly portrays Charmander with four fingers. The anime and trading card game also use three fingers while all of the 3D models use four fingers.

5. Charizard could not fly in Pokemon Red and Blue

That’s right, despite being a flying type, Charizard could not learn the move Fly in Pokemon Red and Blue. This was rectified in Pokemon Yellow, which then made it possible to trade Charizards that new fly back to Pokemon Red and Blue.

6. The Charmander family shares its category with three other Pokemon

The entire Charmander family is categorized as the “flame” Pokemon. They share this with Flareon, Kantonian Moltres, and Infernape.

7. Mega Charizard Y has the highest special attack out of all fire-type Pokemon

Mega Charizard Y has a high special attack stat than any other fire-type Pokemon with a special attack stat of 159. The only other Pokemon to have a high special attack stat are either other mega evolutions or legendaries.

Episode 44 - Paras and Parasect

Brock brings Ash and Misty on a detour to the small town of Matsumo/Mossgreen because they've run out of Potions, Antidotes, and other important traveling items. Nice to see Ash has learned his lesson from the Squirtle Squad incident: Spend some cash on travel heals.

The town doesn't have a Pokemart, but there is an herbal apothecary where an old woman grinds those bitter medicines from Gen 2 onwards that nobody uses. Her granddaughter Kiyomi/Cassandra challenges Ash to a Pokemon match.

Ash agrees to the challenge, but despite her gung-ho attitude, Cassandra's Paras proves too timid to fight. Cassandra's forced to own up to her motives: She's trying to XP-grind so she can level up quickly and evolve Parasect. She has an idea for a hypothetical Pokemon medication that requires Parasect's spores.

Ash agrees to help by taking a dive, but as anyone who's tried to catch a super-low level Pokemon without False Swipe can attest, that can be harder than you'd think. Paras is so low level that despite multiple attempts to pulls this off, even Squirtle's weakest Type Disadvantaged attacks oneshot them.

(Somebody introduce this poor woman to the Magikarp Method, ie. Swapping out your weak Pokemon mid-fight for a stronger one so that they can pick up half of the XP for doing nothing. A few Rare Candies wouldn't hurt either.)

Fortunately, Team Rocket steals Paras briefly to help out. They're much more talented at losing fights and are able to get Paras started on their XP-grinding. But when Ash and the others rejoin, Ash makes the incredible mistake of deploying Charmeleon, who a) has 4x Type Advantage against Paras and b) doesn't obey commands anymore since Ash isn't their Original Trainer.

This, however, proves to be to Paras's benefit. Ash's contrarian luck holds, with Charmeleon somehow missing multiple Flamethrowers at 100% Accuracy only to be taken out by a Scratch. Paras gains so much XP from eking out this impossible victory that they evolve on the spot! Mission Accomplished!

And then they Spore Charmeleon in the face to show off their new signature move and administer some well-deserved karma all at once. XD

Announcing new mosaic artwork by Carmen Lizardo at 181 St (A) station in Manhattan! “Great Waves of Immigration” encapsulates the immigrant experience—leaving home, enduring the arduous journey, and eventually arriving in an unfamiliar city. The Dominican-born artist was inspired by the neighborhood’s architecture and beauty, exemplified by the iconic George Washington Bridge, images of which are superimposed and layered within the work. Juxtaposed with these representations of

iconic landmarks are portraits of the many people who travelled across vast bodies of water to settle in the area, the most recent of which include the Dominican community. Across from the turnstiles, the largest mural features in the foreground an overfilled ‘yola,’ a Dominican boat used to make the journey over to U.S. territory. Above the downtown stairwell is a portrait of a woman holding part of a certificate of citizenship, and in the uptown stairwell is an image of an unidentified woman whose last living address was in Washington Heights. Together, these artworks remind the viewer of the diverse and ever-changing populations that have long called New York City home.
