I only first discovered you and your work this year, but you’ve inspired me and motivated me more than I can express, and the amount of joy and positivity you’ve spread not only to me, but so many others is astronomical.
It was such an honor to meet you at Brucefest earlier this month. Words can’t express how impactful it was for you to sign my art and tell me that you enjoyed it in person! I haven’t had much motivation or confidence to draw in quite some time, and now I’m a damn drawing MACHINE! So thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for your support.
I can’t wait to see what you’ll share with us next, and I’m looking forward to the day that I can meet you again! But until then:
Since my childhood crush, Ted Raimi, is trending right now, (YAY!) I’m going to share. Just watched “Lunatics: A Love Story.” I was dying to watch it as a teen, and now I finally have. It’s free on Tubi, so if you haven’t seen it, and want to, check it out.
It’s overall a cute, sweet film. Loved seeing a young Bruce Campbell and Ted. The majority of the movie is watching Nancy and Hank (Ted) get beat up by life. Hank has hallucinations that continually torture him, and Nancy has a wretched string of bad luck.
(TW: She’s threatened with gang rape, pursued, but is ultimately unharmed. Hank (Ted) has hallucinations of spiders, doctor’s with needles, and, weirdly, getting beat up by rappers. Still confused about that one.)
Nancy is precious, with a big heart, and low self worth. Overall, I enjoyed her character; she comes across as sweet, naive, loving, and genuine.
Hank is also precious, sympathetic, and…well, nuts. He’s got some issues, but Ted does a great job portraying him. I felt so bad watching him go through his struggles, but his triumph in the end was great. There were many goofy moments, but the sweet ones made the movie worthwhile. Also, there were several moments of Ted looking quite attractive, and maybe even… bad ass?
Yup. That bat flipping scene/ battle in the hallway was definitely bad ass. 💕
Would I own this movie? Maybe.
Watch it with my kids? Absolutely not.
Smile when I think on it in the future? You betcha.
Lunatics: A Love Story on Tubitv is a solid 7. I've watched it twice. The only problem is it has spiders at the beginning and end. Other than that, the crazy 90's comedy is in full swing. There's a certain charm to it, and Ted is just so cute! OH! This is not a horror movie 👍
Honest thoughts, not to be mean (be wary of spoilers)
...
Yeah this isn’t good. This is also not going to be long. Cause I also don’t really know what to say.
I don’t want to get that deep into honestly.
So I’ll just say that it’s a whole lot of something and nothing that happens to quickly. Like there are a lot of mental problems going on with Hank (Ted Raimi) that he really needs to see someone about. He apparently spent three years in a ward, but nothing good came from that. The ending of the movie hints that things progressing well for him, but given the presented problem it feels like that’s too fast.
Even more so when Nancy also notes that them getting together makes no sense. The movie also puts them as together by the end instead of like just getting to know one another kind of.
It’s got that 90s quirky atmosphere that makes some of what happens interesting. But it’s something that could have worked better if we got to actually build up some days of us watching Hank that would lead to him over coming some of these things.
Its not like I’m saying I have a problem with Hank and Nancy falling in love over the course of a day, I’ve seen enough movies where that happens and I can let that slip by no problem. The problem happens because you cannot and will not see continuing evidence of Hank trying to over come some of his issues, but that happens so quick that by the time it ends it just...ends.
It’s not satisfying, it’s not dissatisfying, it’s not really abrupt. It just....slides into a vague finish.
I probably won’t be giving this movie a second glance ever
Will say though that the best parts are Ted’s physical acting its seriously great, Bruce Campbell’s scenes are small but fun and honestly the visuals related to Hanks fears and whatnot are actually well done for the time period.
Sorry if you’re a fan of the movie, it just didn’t click with me.
the way joel and ellie are perfect unhinged feral soulmates—balls of rage and violence that turn soft for each other and simultaneously would murder the world for each other….I…..
Pic above: It seems Agatha is also a big fan of Lou ;)
Pics below:
Jack and Lou were peacefully riding to the Pub, when Lunatic ran off.
Back to the Arena where Noxee still was (with Greg of course! Poor Jack ^^')
Siawa had 'called' (from outside the Game) to ask Jack if everything is ok :3 aouww
They are so worried after what happened in Jack's first playtest.
And Vampire Prince Caleb wasn't feeling well with all those furry Werewolves around ö.Ö'
Prince Caleb: "Why are we even here?"
Queen Noxee: "That's what royals do apparently. Show up at all kind of nonsense events to please our subjects or whatsoever. Smile!"
Haha and then adult Jack passed by!
Vlad: "Can I have my money now?"

I love this movie so much! Ted is really very talented. He can do any role, from comical roles to serious one. Lunatics is a wonderful movie and Hank, played by Ted is just so 🥺❤️ I love him
