Wow!!!! I finally watched all of Blood of Youth live action!
I'd rate it a 8/10. I felt like some scenes were so drawn out, the villain was pretty dumb but hey, his outfit was always on point. Diss Xiao Yu all you want but you can never diss his outfit.
I like that Sikong Qianluo and Xiao Se's relationship is much more revealed in the live-action than in the donghua. My God Sikong Qianluo is so under appreciated there by Xiao Se... but Live Action is still a really subtle kind of romance and I still saw them as friends at the end.
Lei Wujie and Ye Ruoyi have a decent relationship in both the donghua and live action and I think they're cute together.
Tang Lian and Fairy Rui deserved better.
Consort Xuan got that Gucci pussy grip I swear. She able to sway men and I applaud her for that.
Xiao Chong weirdly ended up as my favorite in the end and I hope he gets to kiss his attendant everyday.
Hua Jin precious baby.
Wushuang, I thought he was kinda annoying until the Mu Yumo scene. He a good boy.
Li Fansong and his martial brother deserves the world.
Su Muyu, perfect. Wasn't that prevalent in the live-action compared to the Donghua but my God he served cunt every scene. His actor was not playing around, he said he gonna put his whole pussy into each entrance. Served, ate, devoured.
Mu Yumo, idk her motherly instincts kicked in when she talked to Wushuang and it was so nice to see. Mother is mothering.
The most attractive I think in the series is Luo Mingyan's master. I forgot her name but I ship her with Li Hanyi... and for guys it's uhhh..... Lei Yunhe or maybe Wushuangs shixiong whatever that guy's name is. His actor has perfect bone structure wtf.
The Eunuchs' internal affairs was the most invested I was in the political drama. These ball-less men were single handedly moving the entire plot, it was so funny. The pearls I was clutching when the 3 princess came to proposition him to giving up the list and Xiao Se showed up. gasssspppppppppppppp.
Anyways. Good show!!!! I finally finished it.

best cdramas I’ve watched since the last one of these posts in 2022 (and some I’m still looking forward to seeing)
Heroes (watch on WeTV VIP | watch on bilibili) Adapted from the novel "Shuo Ying Xiong Shei Shi Ying Xiong" (说英雄谁是英雄) by Wen Rui An (温瑞安) starring Zeng ShunXi, Yang ChaoYue, Liu YuNing, Baron Chen and Meng ZiYi. I would’ve watched this thing for the cast only. Everyone is queer vibes. Not a flashy drama, but will emotionally shred you. The character development is totally worth it. Throughly entertaining, even when it punched you in the gut. 8/10
The Wind Blows From LongXi (watch on iQIYI VIP | watch on Viki) Adapted from novel "The Wind Rises in Longxi" (风起陇西) by Ma Bo Yong (马伯庸) starring Chen Kun and Bai Yu. I’ve been waiting for this drama for two years and it was worth every second of the wait. The cinematography in this thing is bonkers. The use of light and shadows, the muted colors, the indoor shots opening up into well-lit courtyards, the gritty sound mixing, the whole thing just blew my ass away. Chen Kun and Bai Yu are masters of their art. Fckn masterpiece. 11/10
Who Rules The World (watch on WeTV VIP | watch on Netflix) Adapted from the novel "Qie Shi Tian Xia" (且试天下) by Qing Ling Yue (倾泠月) starring Yang Yang, Zhao LuSi, and Xuan Lu. One of the rare romance dramas that really appealed to me. A well-balanced mix of court intrigue and martial world heroics. Unlimited blorbo potential. It’s hard to outshine Yang Yang (who gives major Mei Changsu vibes through like the first third of the drama) but Zhao LuSi and Xuan Lu together? Magnificent. Breathtaking. Brilliant. 8/10
The Legend of Hao Lan (watch on iQIYI VIP | watch on Viki | watch on tubi) starring Wu Jinyan and Nie Yuan. So this was like, The Story of Yanxi Palace cast, remixed. Was it great? Not really. Did I watch every episode? Yeah. I honestly think that Wu Jinyan could just make faces for 50+ sixty minute episodes, and I’d still watch every minute of it. Still, a fascinating take on the Warring States Period, and actually based on a woman who helped her son become the King of Qin, then ultimately the First Emperor of China. I think 99% of the budget went to costumes, and tbh, it was totally worth every penny. 7/10
(yeah, after all this, I rewatched Nirvana In Fire again)
The Silent Criminal (watch on Apple TV | watch on Bilibili | watch on iQIYI VIP | watch on Viki) starring Li Jiaming and Wen Sheng. So incredibly gay. Hilarious, yes, but predominantly gay. Murder, intrigue, suspense, pining; this little drama literally has everything. Did it impact my life and leave a long-lasting impression? Not really. But I was most throughly entertained. 7/10
My Heroic Husband (watch on Amazon Prime | watch on iQIYI VIP | watch on Viki) Adapted from the novel "Zhui Xu" (赘婿) by Fen Nu de Xiang Jiao (愤怒的香蕉). Starring Song Yi and Guo Qilin. Actually, the majority of Joy of Life cast is in this drama, including a cameo by Zhang Ruoyun in the very beginning. Cast aside tho, I fckn love this drama to pieces. Song Yi and Guo Qilin have amazing chemistry, and they’re so goddamn adorable together I can’t even stand it. The plot is far from complex but immensely satisfying. Excellent drama on a mediocre budget, one I plan to regularly rewatch. 8/10
Still waiting on:
Immortality - based on danmei novel The Husky and His White Cat Shizun by 肉包不吃肉 starring Chen Feiyu and Luo Yunxi (you can think I’m a clown but you’d be wrong bc I’m a wholeass circus)
Winner Is King - based on the danmei novel Sha Po Lang by Priest starring Tan Jianci and Chen Zheyuan
Step By Step Lotus - based on historical novel Return to Ming Dynasty as Prince by 月关 starring Zhang Binbin and Luo Yunxi
Eternal Faith - based on danmei novel Heaven Official’s Blessing by Mo Xiang Tong Xiu starring Zhai Xiaowen and Zhang Linghe
Joy Of Life Season 2 - based on wuxia novel of the same name by 猫腻 starring Zhang Ruoyun and Li Qin
A League of Nobleman - based on danmei novel The Society of Four Leaves by Da Feng Gua Guo starring Song Weilong and Jing Boran
Flying Phoenix - based on danmei novel of the same name by 風弄 starring Dai Jingyao and Shu Yaxin
The Story of the Bat - based on danmei novel Bat by Feng Nong starring Mao Zijun and Zhang Yao
The Longest Promise - based on xianxia novel Zhu Yan by 沧月 starring Xiao Zhan, Ren Min, and Zhang Yunlong
Song of The Moon - based on wuxia novel 奔月 by 蜀客 starring Zhang Binbin and Xu Lu
Story of Kunning Palace - based on the the web novel 坤宁 by Shi Jing starring Bai Lu and Zhang Linghe
Under the Microscope - based on the novel 显微镜下的大明 by 马伯庸 starring Zhang Ruoyun and Qi Wei
Till the End of the Moon - based on the web novel 黑月光拿稳BE剧本 by Teng Luo Wei Zhi starring Luo Yunxi and Bai Lu

Taliesin: I must admit I’m surprised you don’t know magic given you only have well, a stick.
Shen Lung: Bo.
Taliesin: what?
Shen Lung: it’s not a stick. It’s a Bo Staff. And I do know magic. I’d rather just save it in case I need it. It is not like the magic you or others in this land use… it… leaves me vulnerable afterwards.
Taliesin: Oh… I see… may I ask why your um, bo, staff is red then?
Shen Lung: Blood.
Taliesin: What?!
Shen Lung: It is lacquered in the blood of thousands of foes slain by being bludgeoned with its wood. If I drop it in water, it’ll stain a river red.
Taliesin: …Charming… I take it you’re an experienced warrior then?
Shen Lung: What? Me? Oh no! Haha! No this was a gift to me by master Luo Fang. He… he was the only person sad to see me leaving… he was the only one who made time for me too… I think he hoped it’d keep me safe as it did him.
Taliesin: … *contemplates touching his shoulder to pat him on the back by means of comforting him, but instead just folds his arms* Well I think he hoped correctly, you fight well with it… Can I ask, what did you do exactly in the order then if you didn’t well, fight.
Shen Lung: *tail curling around his leg a little* I’d rather not talk about th- hm?… *sniffs the air before crouching down and listening*
Taliesin: what is I-
Shen Lung: Shh. *creeps down the stream spotting an abandoned prison, and a thalmor guard fetching water* …thalmor?… here?… in this crumbling rui-
*CRACK!*
???: *distant agonised screaming*
Shen Lung: *looks back at taliesin* you fight with me or you side with the- *moves to guard himself with his staff thinking the high high elf is aiming for him, only to watch the bolt of ice fly right over him and into the thalmor soldier, sending them over the waterfall*
Taliesin: With you~ *offers him a hand up*
Shen Lung: … *growls and swats it away before getting up and shrieking in frustration* DONT SCARE ME LIKE THAT! *huffs and grabs his staff before jumping over to the other side of the water in one easy motion*
Taliesin: *snickers and hops over after him*
*a few minutes later*
Shen Lung: *creeping towards the cells, the cracking of a whip and the cries growing louder, and louder, only for him to halt in shock upon laying eyes on a human Akaviri, dark haired, his bloodied back turned, but unmistakably a child of Akavir* one lives- *quickly turns himself invisible as he finally notices the thalmor holding the whip*
Cyrelian: Huh? Who said tha-GAGHHH!!! *drops the whip and claws at his neck as he’s suddenly strangled from behind by a dense wooden pole* Geght oghhff off m-Ghmneee!! *lurches forward sending Shen Lung over his back, revealing the tang mo right as he draws back his staff and cracks it into the side of his head knocking his lights out*
Shen Lung: *rises to his feet* By honour of the dragon guard. You die thalmor scum!!! *raises his staff up and crushes his skull with a fatal blow*
Taliesin: *hurries in fixing his robes* the other one is dea-… Well I can see you needed no hel-
Shen Lung: *ignores him and immediately runs to the bloodied Akaviri hanging from the wall* H-hello? Hello can you hear me friend?
???: *slowly raises their head, glaring at him with blurred vision* when I get out of here, I’ll kill you all myself…
Shen Lung: Eh?… not the accent I was expecting. No young wraith, I’m a friend, I’m here to save you. What’s your name?
Kaidan: I?… you are?… I’m Kaidan… my names Kaidan…
Shen Lung: *pausing for a moment as if scanning a list of names from correspondence that died off some 30 years prior* Ah, I’m afraid you’re one I’m unfamiliar with. No matter I’m sure I can identify your parentage. *releases the shackles and catches him easily*
Kaidan: wh-what? *whimpers in pain as he’s finally set free, unable to do anything except cling to his strange saviour*
Taliesin: *walks over holding a potion* Oh so this is what a human Akaviri looks like?
Kaidan: I’m a what? What are you on about- you- YOU!!! *immediately tries to lunge forward and attack the high elf*
Shen Lung: *pulls him back* Atitititata, no dont, he’s a friend, he helped me find you… though admittedly this was pure luck if anything else. *takes the healing potion and hands it to him* You… You don’t even know you’re an Akaviri?…
Kaidan: … *shakes his head looking at him in pure bewilderment* no… I don’t even know, what in oblivion you are.
Shen Lung: Oh gods I’ve got a lot of work ahead of me…

Review on "A Girl Like Me 我就是这般女子" 2021
Tumblr media
After watching the drama for the third time (first when it came out, somewhen in the year after and now)
Anyway just because it is soooooooooooo good, I could sit through the 40 episodes without having a second of boredom or cringe.
The drama has a rating of 8.1 on MDL, and an episode average of 9,0 (yes, I calculated this).
What makes it great? Everything.
It has chemistry, between the main couple, between family members, between enemies, between like everyone.
It has a natural flow and consistency of the story of the main couples relationship.
YOU KNOW IT'S WITHOUT MISUNDERSTANDINGS!!!! Tbh I feel like it is very trope free in general. (except for the I fall, you catch, but it gets a revenge, so it's fine)
The characters act naturally, consequetical and reasonable!
So let's go into more details:
Description The beautiful baroness, duchess, princess (She gets promoted a lot!) Ban Hua has skirted marital bliss three times. Her straight-shooting manner and explosive temper ensured that each relationship ended in disaster – for the potential grooms! Despite her awful reputation, she is quite well-meaning and thoughtful deep down. Of late, her dreams have been forecasting danger around every corner. She has interpreted them quickly in order to keep her family safe and to protect those around her. Her life changes forever when she meets Count Rong Xia, a young gentleman scholar whose family suffered a tragic fate. Rong Xia is on the hunt for answers regarding the past, namely the true identity of those responsible for his family’s demise, a secret long-kept from him. A friendship is formed, with Ban Hua determined to help Rong Xia learn the truth. As their alliance deepens, could this be a case of ´fourth time lucky’ for Ban Hua? (Source: MDL)
Characters: Ban Hua: - not educated in classical women arts (which is seen as her fault) - therefore trained in martial arts by her grandfather - has a high moral compass and sense of justice - is short tempered and likes complements - she comes of as arrogant at first - cares about nothing more than her family - likes fashion and wears several dresses throughout the series, like it seems natural? Rong Xia: - Daye's first gentlement, as he is first in all of the literature - he's very intelegent and sees through a lot things - his family got murdered and he's investigating to get revenge - upright and noble, calm character - quite inexperienced in love and sometimes acts silly Ban Heng & and the rest of the Ban family: - Ban Heng (younger brother), Lady Yin (mother), Ban Huai (father), Rocky and Softy (housemaids) - you have never witnessed such a wholesome family Shi Feixian: - fairest lady of Daye, Nr. 1 Lady in women's arts - has a crush on Rong Xia - believes in fate Ban Hua's younger cousin, Jiang Luo: - black sheep of the royal family Ban Hua's older cousin and crown prince, Jiang Zhang: - coward of the royal family The emperor (Jiang Rui): - rough but good guy Royal Princess (Ban Hua's and Ban Heng's grandmother, Ban Huai's mother, the emperor's aunt): - wise lady, widow of the late emperor - with clever wits and in younger years great resembles to Ban Hua in character Characters that are later revealed in the plot to be a certain way, I don't to reveal, except an honorable mention, because I love them: Du Jiu, Xie Wanyue, Xie Qinlin, Shi Jin, the empress, Father Xie, Akeqi
plot (spoilerfree) what I love about it the most, is the consistency, plot boxes that get opened get closed at different times. There does not exist an arc-sequencial plot the plot is woven into it from ending to beginning. Different factions do have different goals and agenda's at the same time, even though naturally sometimes those interests overlap. The story has a good moral and treasures characters as humans. Have I mentioned that there's NO "plot" caused by MISUNDERSTANDINGS???!!! It's amazing, even though they have to go different ways at some point due to lack of time to communicate, the FL trusts what she knows and loves about her partner. It's amazing.
actors from top to bottom the cast is great. Like really it is!!! It has Neo Hu and the less known Guan Xiaotong, who does an amazing job.
NOW GO WATCH IT. I WANT IT TO GET THE ATTENTION IT DESERVES!!!!!
I sincerely promise you it's a drama that wont leave you easily in a good way. It's like a warm blanket and makes you believe that maybe the world is not as bad.
(If you want use the messages space to tell me what your opinion about it is, also congrats you made it to the end)

My Journey To You - Thoughts and Impressions Part 1 of 2
Tumblr media
I realise that I've been missing these past few months, i've been on a consumption binge but with little to no bandwidth to write about any show/film irrespective of how much I may have loved them. (depression is an ass) But I can, once again, feel thoughts tingling in my brain and I've decided to get back to writing, something that I deeply enjoy. Anyway, enough about me, let's get started.
To keep the post from getting obscenely long, I'm going to split it into two. This post will be about the technical aspects of the show. Part 2 will focus on the characters.
My Journey To You is a 2023 fantasy, Wuxia show (shows/films that are based in ancient China with martial arts warriors being capable of superhuman feats, like Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon). It was highly anticipated owing to the amazing trailer (one of the best I've seen)
youtube
Plot: The series tells the story of Yun Wei Shan, a spy longing for freedom, who infiltrates the Gong residence to complete a mission. In the eerie and treacherous Gong residence, she encounters love and friendship, embarks on a journey of self-discovery, and finds the determination to move forward. Together with the rebellious nobleman Gong Zi Yu, they grow and mature through their shared experiences. (via mydramalist)
It stars: Yu Shu Xin (Yun Wei Shan), Zhang Ling He(Gong Zi Yu), Ryan Cheng (Gong Shang Jue) and Lu Yu Xiao (Shangguan Qian), Tian Jia Rui (Gong Yuan Zhi), Jolin Jin (Gong Zi Shang) and Sun Chen Jun (Jin Fan)
Written by: Edward Guo.
Series directed by: Edward Guo & Luo Luo
Tumblr media
I'll talk about everything I liked before I get into the stuff that I didn't.
Right off the bat, this show has some of the most gorgeous characters you'll come across and this applies to both the men and the women. The costume and make-up departments do an amazing job making already attractive people look ridiculously attractive. They also help the actors really inhabit the world seamlessly. The costumes are especially incredibly detailed and intricate, you can see the care that went into crafting the look for each of these characters. Shout-out to Huang Wei (costume designer) and Shi Hui (Make-up)
One of the best aspects of the show is the cinematography by Wei Hong. This show is aesthetically beautiful, so many absolutely stunning shots. Chinese shows (and Korean shows) love slow-motion shots, and while at times, it can be a bit much, this show makes great use of them, especially during the fight scenes.
Tumblr media
The cinematography is helped to a great extent by the excellent production design, courtesy Jiyao Zhang. Like the costumes, the production design too is detailed and intricate. The world feels fully realised and yet also lived in. Each of the different clan mansions, the Front Hill and Back Hill are so incredibly different and distinct that you can immediately tell where you are. An insane amount of hard work went into the show and it shows in every frame.
You can tell that they had a good budget to work with and every bit of it was spent on making the show look as stylized as possible, there is not an ounce of realism to be found here, cue slow-motion beautiful hair flying shots. (Every day I bemoan my inability to make gifs) But the screencaps below illustrate the beauty of the show, it's so gorgeous that you could literally use screencaps as wallpapers.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The fight scenes in the show are some of the best I've seen. They are intense and thrilling and always coherent, you can always tell who's fighting who. The fight scenes are also so aesthetically pleasing, like an exceptionally deadly dance.
Tumblr media
Now, we come to the not-so-great stuff.
First off, the marketing. The show was marketed and advertised as an action fantasy show and while there is action and it is excellent, it's not an "action" show. The main focus of the show is on the characters and the internal power struggle of the Gong family. There are also whole scenes, sometimes making up the bulk of an entire episode which are just conversations. I've seen a lot of viewers disappointed and it makes sense. they thought they were coming for action and instead they got verbose conversations.
The pacing also comes to a near-halt in some of these scenes and instead we're treated to lengthy expositions which isn't necessarily a bad thing but it becomes tedious when it happens repetitively.
Now, let's come to the worst thing about the show, it's ending, specifically the last 5 minutes. This end is ridiculously mindbogglingly bad when you consider that there is almost no confirmation on a 2nd season. It's just such a bad idea to end on a cliffhanger like this. If they wanted to leave things open for a potential 2nd season, they could have ended with the Wufeng elders coming together at that character's home, possibly to hold them ransom or something, like literally anything else.
if you're planning on watching this show and I do recommend it, keep in mind that it does get slow and don't watch the last 5 mins of the show. Trust me, you'll like the show a whole lot more if you follow that approach.

behind the scenes: let's start thinkin' bout it
chapter 1: a wish for more time
in this time travel TKA fic, naturally there's a lot of personal headcanon regarding the future, of what's happening after the end of the webnovel. i'm inclined to be hopeful for Happy's future, not solely based on favoritism, but also the main fact that all of Happy's remaining members have all playoffs experience, both main and reserve team members. With Su Mucheng of the Golden Generation is also the most senior member, this makes Happy has the youngest and yet experienced lineup, which even Samsara cannot boast the same. it makes me think with Happy's environment, theirs is a team that won't have much problem in regeneration. Blue Rain might be the only team that can say the same or even might be better as Happy still needs to be beaten back and blue first in S11.
some personal headcanons hinted in this story:
Fang Rui had a crush on Lin Jingyan. his old partner is his first love
Qiao Yifan and Luo Ji are the last of the original members of Happy. they retire in S18
Su Mucheng is the first to retire following Ye Xiu. she retires in S12 at the age of 27 after preparing Qiao Yifan and the team accordingly
Fang Rui and Bao Rongxing retire in S14, at the age 27 and 28, respectively. Tang Rou, lasting longer than expected due to her professional piano background, retire in S15 at the age of 28. An Wenyi retires next, in S16. Mo Fan retires in S17. and finally, Qiao Yifan and Luo Ji, establishing Happy's tradition of retiring by the age of 28 with Su Mucheng and Fang Rui as the sole exceptions
Su Mucheng is the only captain who stays in Happy after retirement, besides Wei Chen and Bao Rongxing who works in the guild. however, Baozi is often struck by wanderlust so he might suddenly leave Happy, but can be counted on to be found online helping the guild. Mo Fan makes an appearance here and there, no one really knows what he does
An Wenyi continues his education, resuming his previously disrupted plans. Tang Rou inherits family business. both Ye Xiu and Fang Rui find Glory-related jobs, with Ye Xiu based in Beijing while Fang Rui based abroad
Yu Wenzhou holds the record for the longest active player in the League
Tyranny wins S11, Han Wenqing and Zhang Jiale retire. Zhang Xinjie becomes captain, Song Qiying inherits Desert Dust
World Invitationals are held once in two years. So is the International League (the name is undecided), which is basically the professional Glory clubs around the world competing against each other, with the participants are champion and the runner up from domestic league for each country
With this there's international competition every year, and to accommodate the players (and to extend their career lifespan), in S12 there is secondary league for lower ranked teams, leaving the top teams in the primary league with less packed schedule
Happy wins the domestic league in S12 and S14, and the international league in S13 despite only being runner up in domestic league (unknown to public, they're on fire knowing Fang Rui is about to retire)
Fang Rui in some ways are more influential than Ye Xiu to Happy, especially in the later years. Happy's younger generation barely knows their legendary captain and God, but have known and been taught since training camp days by Fang Rui (alongside Wei Chen and Qiao Yifan)
in the wake of Ye Xiu's retirement, Fang Rui is the most capable and experienced in dealing with team and club management. his appointment as vice captain is to mainly to reduce his burden (although everyone agrees Su Mucheng is a better captain, Fang Rui included)
Fang Rui reclaims his old class (and the title of King of Thieves) to add diversity to Happy's tactics. Happy purchased Lin Feng's Thief account from Blue Rain. he is the second pro player to be registered for two account cards after Fang Shiqian
however, like Fang Shiqian (and Ye Xiu), it puts heavy burden on his body, particularly his left hand, trying to keep up with his golden right hand. he quietly has a surgery for it, and change his playstyle, which rely less on his speed and reflexes and more on his mind and experience
Qiao Yifan becomes close to Yu Wenzhou initially due to Fang Rui, but then Yu Wenzhou becomes Captain and later Team leader for World Invitationals when Qiao Yifan joins which leads them to spend a lot of time together, thus the notebook
