Re-read “Lord of the Sith”, really like the scenes that Sidious and Vader fight the Lyleks!
The revelry of the dark side!
Vader turned and looked down to the floor below, where his Master, surrounded by a dozen or more lyleks, was spinning, whirling, leaping, his lightsaber moving so fast it blurred. He looked tiny amid their bulk but moved with preternatural speed, his blade stabbing and slashing and severing. He was laughing, the familiar cackle somehow audible above the sounds of the horde.
......
“Lord Vader,” his Master responded, and chuckled. “Enjoyable, no? Did you consider allowing me to die to realize your own ambitions?”
From “Lords of the Sith” chapter 16

"Another armed occupation is not a free Ryloth. How long before I am fighting you, Master Jedi?"
Ryloth, also known as Twi'lek, and Twi'lek Prime,[12] was the harsh, rocky homeworld of the Twi'leks, an Outer Rim Territories world located on the Corellian Run and forming one endpoint of the Death Wind Corridor. One side of the planet perpetually faced its sun and the other remained in darkness, a phenomenon known as tidal locking. The dayside was referred to as the Bright Lands and the night-side was known as the Nightlands. Ryloth, the second planet in the Ryloth system, possessed a thin, but breathable atmosphere. The planet was orbited by five moons, which had subtle tidal effects on the planet's liquid core and underground springs. It had little or no surface water except for patches of water ice on the night side. It was a planet of extremes: dry, rocky landscapes of deserts, mountain ranges with mist-covered peaks, shadowy valleys, alternated with snowy wastes, joined by lush temperate bands which concentrated much of its population. Because of its unusual day-night rotation period, atmospheric conditions on Ryloth's surface were characterized by turbulent seasons[4] and extremely high winds (reaching 500 kilometers per hour) scouring the surface and sculpting the landscape and unpredictable bursts of heat called heat storms, which could reach 300 degrees Celsius. The more extreme heat storms sometimes moved across the terminator and reached miles underground, making caves near the surface temporarily uninhabitable, before eventually dying out on the night side. Along the terminator lay a thin habitable border, a twilight realm between the two extremes. Along this narrow strip were the series of caverns where some of the Twi'leks decided to build their underground cities, blockaded with thick blast doors and portcullises to keep out the vicious monsters that prowled the Bright Lands, especially lyleks. The Floating Rock Gardens of Ryloth were a natural wonder and tourist attraction, well known throughout the Outer Rim, where strong winds blew among the tunnels, causing rocks to float gently through the air. Over the years the gardens became filled with rare and dazzling stones. Visitors were allowed to rearrange the stones to their liking, but were encouraged to seek meaning in the natural configurations. Kala'uun was a permanent city located within the Lonely Five mountain range, boasting a large underground spaceport.

My honest, humble, and not-objective-at-all opinion about LORDS OF THE SITH
LORDS OF THE SITH by Paul S. Kemp, published in 2015 (canon)
Real quick plot summary : The Free Ryloth Movement, led by Chad Syndulla, attempts a massive attack on the imperial forces, in hope of killing Darth Vader and the Emperor and strike a fatal blow to the Empire. Things didn't exactly go as planned.
I've FINALLY managed to finished the book, started weeks (months?) ago. Actually, I finished it less than 15 minutes ago. And I really enjoyed it. So why did it took me so long ? I'll go back to that point later.
First of all, let me tell you I didn't exactly found in this book what I expected to find. And in a good way. Judging by the cover and the resume, I was prepared for a book mostly about the Emperor and Vader, but I'd say approximatively half the book is about them directly. (I mean, with the exterior narrator talking about them.) The rest of the book is about Cham and his movement, the Twi'lek rebels, and his relationship with Isval. And Isval was my favorite character in the book, she was really well written and her story is so interesting. Kemp managed to bring so more life in all these secondary characters.
I'll try to be cohesive because since I've just finished the book but begun it long ago, I have to go back to my notes about the first half.
I've loved learning things about the Twi'lek's history and traditions. I finally know why some male twi'leks have sharpen teeth and not female ! (In case you don't know, well, that's tradition. But Isval sharpened hers to show she's a hunter too.)
The whole passage of the book with Isval going downtown to literaly hunt imperials and save prostitutes Twi'leks gave me goosebumps. Definitively not a thing I was expecting in a « Sith Lords » book, but it was awesome, so dark, so shady, I was feeling the unhealthy atmosphere of the district. First I was thinking « Ok, he's suggesting she's a former sexual slave and that this is the kind of district these things happen in. » And then I was like « Ok that's not suggested anymore, that's pretty explicit right now. » I didn't expect a Star Wars book to talk to me about sexual abuse and prostitution, but boy it was so strong and hard to read.
And to be honest, I'm really thankful to Kemp for not being patronizing about it. Isval is not a broken little thing, she's a warrior, she had a really bad time in her life, and now she's fighting to help other girls, and she's fueled by hate.
And about Isval, her relationship with Cham was really touching as well. We kinda see it grows before our eyes, not invading the mission nor polluting their discussions, but slowly showing more and more, from chief to subordinate, friend to friend, freedom fighter to freedom fighter, and finally acknowledging that from the very beginning, they were more than that but never had the opportunity to take their chance.
We'll talk a bit about the Sith side of the book too. It was very enjoyable. Exploring the relation between Vader and the Emperor felt like a force hand tightening your chest. The Emperor is perpetually testing Vader (and everyone else). Everything he does, everything he says, has a purpose. This man isn't tied by the mortal rules of luck and probability. Everything is planned and calculated. And Vader knows it. Every word the Emperor speak has a reason, and Vader is like « What did he mean ? » and then « Ok, that's what he meant. »
Vader having flashes of his past life, his former friends, the Clone Wars, Padmé... Every one was heartbreaking and the Emperor KNOWS it. He used them, to keep Vader hateful, to constantly remind him he's a tool of a greater force, and every sentences he said could have been finished by « So... who's the boss ? ».
He's the boss.
You can feel how strong and inflexible they are, there is so many good descriptions of their strenght and determination.
A bit about the secondary characters : I liked Belkor, he was interesting. I liked seeing how he slowly turn insane through the book, ending up talking to a corpse. He's the opposite of the Emperor, having to constantly change his plans depending on other people or just because of misfortune, being manipulated and mocked, and finally snapping out of his mind because of pressure.
Moff Mors was cool too. I would have love to learn more about her, about her past life, but the little we know about her explains perfectly who she is. I felt a little frustrated by never knowing what happen to her at the end, because I personnaly doubt the Emperor will forgive years of non-interference and laziness (damn she was supposed to handle Ryloth!). It's implicitly said she's redeeming herself, but seriously, Palps, do you even redeem bro ?
My biggest problem with this book can be resumed in one word : LYLEKS. The passage with the Emperor and Vader fighting Lyleks was way way way way too loooooooong. I really felt it like a break in the momentum. And speaking of break, I had mine at this point. Bad luck, but hard weeks of work happened at this moment in my life, I had to put the book down while reading this passage, and it was hard coming back to it. Everytime I was reopening the book and seing the Lyleks everywhere I was like « Nobody got time fo' that ». It was a real let down.
To be honest, it almost felt like this whole passage was added in the book completely artificially. Like Kemp has finished his book and the editor said « Hey man that's a cool book you wrote, but what about more Sith kung-fu fighting ? Like, maybe, 40 pages of it ? »
It felf so weird and useless compared to the rest of the book. So unnatural. And it's the only part of the book where I've found severe incoherences. Vader deigniting his lightsaber two times on the same page (without having turning it on in the meantime), and few pages later the same thing but this time with igniting it. Like this passage was rushed and hadn't been seriously reread and corrected.
This was a serious problem because as soon as I've finished the Lyleks passage, and Vader and Palps were running into the young Twi'lek girl in the forest and then heading toward her village, the tension was back again, the apprehension of what was going to happen next, and everything then come one after another very smoothly and I was trapped again in the suspense.
So WHY ? Why would you stop this so effective momentum with an endless fight when we all know the outcome of the fight ?
This being said, what would be my opinion on Lords of the Sith ?
PRO :
- So much characterization. Every character is unique, even the secondary ones. Every motivation, backstory, personnality is understandable and relatable. That's for me the strongest force of the book.
- A good story. That may sound stupid but it's not. Writing a original story in a so vast universe isn't easy. You can't just repeat things that have aleady been told in another Star Wars media, you have to be creative. In this book the stakes are high for the heroes, but may seems lower on the scale of the galaxy. The whole point is... will it be the case ?
- The suspense. Like I've already said, having appealing secondary characters is a licensed book is super important to keep the suspense. Sure, Palps, Vader and Cham won't die. But you don't know about the other ones. And you care about them. You've learnt to know them, to love them.
CON :
THE LYLEEEEEEEEKS
TO CONLUDE :
A very important book to read. Don't expect to see crazy sith things all the time like you may think you will because of the cover. You'll see some sith shits (like Vader boarding a enemy ship alone in deep space), but that's not what important (yet that's impressive, to say the least). You'll learn about Vader, how he feels, his anger, his neverending pain, you'll learn about life on Ryloth, slavery, humiliation of having your planet under imperial jurisdiction. You'll learn about imperials too, human being working for the Empire, how they feel too, their backstory, how they are not just bad guys in uniform blindly following orders.
That's a very deep book for so many reasons (except Lyleks.)
I hoped you liked this review, I'm sorry about the time it took me to write it down. I may take a break because the next book I'll read won't be a Star Wars book (but a book lended to me by a friend so I have to finished it to give it back).
With the hot days slowly returning I have hope to read more seriously in the times to come, because one thing I enjoy is reading in the sun, but as always I won't make any promises I can't keep. I still have to write some reviews for old books I've read (Dark disciple, Wrath of Darth Maul, Ahsoka...) and still got new books to read (including Bloodline), but they will come in time.
As always, take care of yourself, of your surroundings, and enjoy :) Tagging @maulpunk !

Lily liveblogs: “Resistance Reborn,” part four
When we last left off, Finn and Poe and friends were about to go to a birthday party for one of Maz's smugger friends who has the list macguffin they're after. Please note they're not actually crashing this party for once - Maz got them actual invitations, lol.
Meanwhile, Bratt the Brat comes back to the office and beats Yama to a pulp, only to be taken aback when his superiors commend her for her loyalty in reporting Monti's theft. But he's offered a chance to prove his loyalty if he can fix the mess, even though he's still in denial about Yama and Monti's true allegiances because he’s a sexist asshole.
The party is awesome - ocean and fish and rich people and smugglers, with the First Order providing security (??). Poe and Finn eat a bunch of sea-themed canapes and banter. It's delightful and I want entire fics of this instead of, like, three pages. They had to bring presents, and one of the other members of Poe's team got the gifts, so it's a surprise to him too when the birthday girl opens it, but it's a dwarf lylek, a spiky hermit-crab/praying mantis creature that stays small "as long as you don't feed it flesh".
The guest of honor is delighted because--who would have guessed?--she used to be an entomologist! I love her, and I'm kinda sad she's a throwaway character, because she's a member of the Collective, the Corellian techie version of antifa, which sounds wayyyy more interesting than the actual book.
(I was also hoping that the lylek would start devouring canapes when the First Order inevitably breaks up the party and the shooting starts, only for the lylek to get HUGE and start going after stormtroopers... but alas, no, that doesn't happen either. DON'T TEASE ME LIKE THAT, OKAY??)
There's an auction to get the list macguffin as a fundraiser for the Collective and Poe is trying to figure out what the trick is because they're rapidly running out of cash. CorSec breaks up the party in the name of the First Order, which is weird because I thought the FO was providing security, but whatever.
Wedge, Norra, Snap, and Tasa Nasz, the ex-Imperial badass, go to the shipyards to steal ships for the Resistance. There's a Baleen-class freighter, and I love it. They run into Yama Dee, badly injured from Bratt's beating, and we learn that Yama is 15, so Bratt isn't just an abusive asshole, he's a child abuser, ughhh. Our heroes are rightly incensed and vow to help Yama, who is uniquely positioned to give them what they need.
Leia and Rey are sitting around on Ryloth, when... Rey has a bad feeling seconds before the First Order starts taking over (for totally unrelated reasons) and the Resistance forces have to GTFO.
Back at the party, the birthday girl is devastated because her husband was shot in front of her, so she agrees to give Poe the list macguffin for revenge (it's hidden in her jewelry in the form of a snake, which is a nice touch). They jump into a pool to escape the FO, and Finn hauls them out. Poe is afraid she's lost the necklace, but it turns out to come when called, which everyone agrees is awesome.
Bratt attacks the FO officer accusing him of treason and runs back to his office to track down information about Monti the Traitor--only to find Wedge and company with Yama and the escaped prisoners (including Leia's old political friend). Yama confronts Bratt, who denies everything, and Yama is appalled when she realizes she's parrotting his exact same arguments, that she is becoming the same as her abuser.
They fight, only to be interrupted by Teza, who is unsympathetic when she learns Bratt is the one who beat Yama in the first place. She tells Bratt he has a choice: either let Yama continue the beatdown, or she shoots him. Bratt is aghast at the idea of letting Yama beat him, so Teza shoots him and he bleeds out on the floor in astonishment while everyone else walks out. Leia's senatorial friend tries to offer him a hand up, but Bratt bats it away and dies alone and confused.
(Please note that the main reason the ex-Imperial comes along seems to be so she can be the agent of divine justice without our "good" heroes having to get their hands dirty. For all that ST fans like to talk about "edginess" and "grey Jedi" and "moral complexity" in TLJ, this is still Star Wars and our heroes don't shoot (usually) shoot people at point-blank range and leave them to die even when they're assholes.)
Wedge and company meet up with Poe and company, who have lost their own ship, so they steal a FO shuttle and escape with the prisoners and the full list. Since Ryloth is no longer safe, Poe makes a deal with the Collective for a safe haven in exchange for the rest of their credits.
Leia and her old friend have a tearful reunion. Poe makes an inspiring speech about scattering to the winds to become the spark that will burn the FO down. I don't know how much sense that makes in terms of strategy and tactics, but everybody is impressed. Poe has overcome all his angst about Crait and is happy to be--in charge? Second in command? I have no idea how the chain of command even works right now.
Wedge and Norra leave to do their own stuff; Snap wants to go with them, but Poe won't let him. Finn says he's coming with Poe, and that's Rey's cue to show up.
"Where are we going?" Both men turned to find Rey, looking expectant.
Finn grinned. "I didn't want to ask."
Rey grinned back. "You didn't have to."
The two friends laughed, leaning in to touch shoulders in acknowledgment. Rey looked at Poe, eyes narrowed as if unsure. "You don't mind?"
Poe pressed a hand to his heart, giving Rey a small bow. "I'm honored."
She flushed, pleased as he'd hoped she would be.
This is great, and I love it, but this doesn't have as much emotional resonance as it could have because THIS IS LITERALLY THE SECOND TIME IN THIS BOOK THAT ALL THREE OF THEM HAVE BEEN IN THE SAME ROOM WITH EACH OTHER AND REY AND POE HAVE SPOKEN TO EACH OTHER and so it feels like... it wasn't really earned??
Leia is smiling at the three of them in satisfaction because "the Resistance is in good hands" and "she's got us".
Poe slung an arm around Finn's shoulders and pulled Rey in close on the opposite side.
"That's right, Poe said. She's got us.
"Now let's go and save the galaxy."
Again, this is all A++ good, but I don't feel like any of this has been earned. At all. Like, does Poe know anything about why Leia believes in Rey, what Rey can do? They're just all friends now because of Finn even though Poe and Rey barely know each other?? Is he this affectionate with everyone?? I don't mind this closeness, but... it would have been nice to have more of this earlier so it doesn't feel so out of the blue and forced.
Also, what did this book accomplish? So the Resistance has some ships now. It has a few more fighters, they freed a bunch of influential prisoners from the New Republic that the First Order had taken into custody, and they have a list of current and future targets to warn. And they're not dead yet, so that's good.
But Leia and Rey barely got to do anything in this book, Rose is barely there at all, and Finn is only tangentially involved at the end. Most of the plot features Poe, Wedge, and occasionally other characters like Bratt, Snap, and Dross Squadron.
So despite the marketing, which makes it sound like this is an All-Resistance Adventure featuring our main trio, I would say Poe is the protagonist, because he's the only one with a character arc: moving from depressed and angsty over the failed mutiny at Crait to letting go of his failures and moving on to be a leader. There's also a smaller arc with Wedge moving from retired warrior and active farmer back to warrior again, but it's much less nuanced.
Outside of that, though, the book feels like it's tugging in too many direction and not going anywhere near the ones I find most interesting. There are lots of characters I'm expected to care about who are not in the films, and little in the narrative itself makes me want to. (The only reason I know about Leia's friend, for instance, is because I read a summary of Bloodline on Wookieepeedia.) It feels like Disney made a very deliberate decision to make all the plotlines 100% more convoluted and confusing than they needed to be, just so you'd read/buy all the supplementary material, and that is a... choice, I guess. But it makes me grumpy.
Honestly, if I wasn't writing a ST fix-it fic, I wouldn't have bothered with this. I found Resistance Reborn to be adequate, but mostly unexceptional, and occasionally frustrating. The few really delightful bits are when major movie characters are together in the same room, but that is weirdly and woefully rare, and I honestly do not understand what the story group/Disney was thinking here in not making those the meat of the book.
Question: who is Disney's target audience for this book? I'm honestly not sure, and I'm not sure they know, either, and I think this book demonstrates that. Which is... really weird for a billion-dollar corporation intent on milking every last cent out of the franchise, that's all. I don't get it.
TL;DR:
The Good:
Stormpilot feels (brotp or otp depending on your preferred ship)
the Collective (Corellian techie antifa)
Poe’s fabulous hair
fancy dress party heist
Wedge’s garden and space chickens
barely any mention of Kylo Ren whatsoever
The Meh:
loads and loads of characters that are not in the movies and therefore hard to keep track of or care
macguffin plot macguffin
cooler plot threads and story ideas are teased and never followed up on (in this book, at least)
The WTF:
movie characters barely interact with each other
assuming they have a role at all
does any of this matter?
feels like filler

Out of the Frying Pan, Into the Fire
NOTE: This one is also not written by me, I'm again posting as a proxy for my friend, who may or may not get a Tumblr in the future. This is part one of three.
Summary: Three weeks after Bespin, Rogue Squadron has just escaped a run-in with the ferocious Lyleks of Onderon when an unexpected visitor shows up to claim his son. You can predict what happens next. Three-shot.
He can hardly stand with the agony pounding in his right wrist; he can hardly think, but still he must get away. As the wind blows and buffets him, a black-gloved hand is reaching for him. “Join me, Luke. It is your destiny.”
He tries to keep inching back, but there is nowhere else to go. “No—no, it’s—not true—“
He’d meant for his voice to be defiant, but it only sounds weak. He takes another step back, he can jump if he’s fast enough; but suddenly, he is being pulled closer—it’s the Force, damn the Force—and Vader seizes him with a hand around his bicep. He cries out, but there is no sound; his vocal cords don’t work.
The monster—his father, no it’s not true—looms ominously over him. “There is no escape. You are my son—you belong to me.”
With a jolt, Luke returned to consciousness, gasping for breath.
He was on the ground. At first he was confused; then he remembered: the giant, spider-like Lylek had knocked him down, and he had killed it with his blaster. He must have been out long enough to start dreaming...no, no, he couldn’t think about that, Vader was not here. There was no chance—
“Luke!” Wedge was calling his name. “Luke, we have to get outta here! Where are you?”
“Here!” Luke got to his feet and scrambled out of the undergrowth into a clearing. That Lylek had almost killed him; but the monster was definitely dead. He could see it, lying several meters away; it was huge, its tentacles and claws curled up (fortunately, the poisonous tentacles had never touched him). Resisting the urge to shudder, fighting off the memory of his nightmares, he joined his Second where he stood by Onderon’s main facility. “Wedge, they’re all dead!”
“That’s not it,” Wedge told him in a low voice. “Look out there.”
Luke followed Wedge’s gaze, and his heart stopped. On the horizon of the jungle planet were several TIE Fighters. Without warning, his heart began to race, he struggled to breathe, and he felt the beginnings of his panic start to return.
“Wedge,” he said carefully, ignoring the memories of Bespin that wanted to come roaring back, “that’s not—it’s not—“
“You know High Command would never’ve sent you on the mission if there were any chance of Vader being here.” Wedge gave him a reassuring smile, and Luke’s fear decreased marginally. “It’s barely been three weeks, Luke. You’re lucky they even sent you at all!”
“Well, wild Lyleks weren’t really what I had in mind,” Luke said, “but at least they’re dead. Come on, we’ve got time before they land, and by the look of it, everyone else has gotten to their ships. Let’s get out of here!”
But before he or Wedge could take a step, they heard the clatter of armor and the click of blasters behind them. Pulling his own blaster, Luke turned around to find himself face to face with at least two dozen Stormtroopers.
“We’ve been trapped,” Wedge said, sounding horrified. “One of the ships must’ve docked behind the facility...”
“Drop your blasters,” the commander ordered them. “Both of you. Now!”
Luke dropped his immediately, but Wedge crossed his arms defiantly, and Luke suddenly realized that there was only way that both of them were going to get off Onderon. And Wedge wasn’t going to like it.
“Wedge,” he muttered out of the corner of his mouth, “do as he says.”
“But—“ Wedge seemed to realize that he was refusing a direct order from his superior. “All right.” With a soft plup!, his blaster fell into the grass beside Luke’s.
Luke felt something wet on his face, and looked up to see the clouds gathering. Well, these weren’t ideal conditions for flying, but he’d experienced worse.
“And put your hands up!”
Slowly, as he and Wedge raised their hands behind their heads, Luke leaned over to whisper: “Get ready to run. The second I move.”
Wedge looked at him in horror. “Luke, no! You’ll—“
“I’ll follow you,” Luke said, “eventually. Don’t worry. Just make sure Artoo—“
The trooper took a step towards them. “Hey! What are you two whispering about?”
“Oh, never mind.” Before the trooper could move, Luke pulled his blaster into his hand with the Force and fired, once at the lead officer, then again at his companion. Chaos ensued. The Stormtroopers shouted in rage, Wedge took off, and Luke took down two more troopers before dropping to the ground and rolled behind the facility.
“Where is he?” A Stormtrooper with a vibroblade in his hand began searching, turning round and round several times before registering that his would-be prisoner had vanished. If the situation hadn’t been so dire, Luke might have laughed. “Find him!”
The Force must have been against him. Luke had barely relaxed when, against all odds, at least a half dozen troopers turned and walked toward the facility. They would find him; he had no choice but to run. As another drop fell on his face, he got to his feet, wincing as the cuts on his back and legs pulled, and sprinted out of the shelter of the facility and towards the jungle.
“There he is!”
A warning came from the Force; Luke jerked aside just in time to avoid a blaster bolt, but that simple change in direction sent him stumbling over a large rock that just happened to be there, of all places, and he dropped to the floor of the jungle. There was another warning, and he was almost too slow; he twisted aside, a half second late, and felt a blaster bolt scrape over his right arm. The pain would come later, he thought as he jumped up to run; for now, he could survive on adrenaline, shock, and the Force.
Yoda would kill me for thinking of the Force like that, he thought with a grin as he dove into the undergrowth and waited, his heart hammering in his chest.
The bushes rustled as the troopers walked past. Several more drops fell. It was raining in earnest now, and Luke tried not to shiver; that, more than anything, would give him away. He could see the tips of their white boots now, as they stopped in front of the place he was hiding...and then, suddenly, they started muttering to one another.
“Better get out of here,” one of them said. There was a rustle of leaves, and gradually Luke felt their presence in the Force vanish as they left him alone.
Well, that was weird.
Slowly, Luke sat up, trying to ignore all the pains that were coming back to him—the cuts on his back, the scratches on his legs and chest, all from the Lylek’s claws, the exhaustion that lingered just beyond his awareness, the pounding in his head from being knocked unconscious, and worst of all the new wound in his arm—and suddenly remembered Wedge. He’d promised him he’d escape! Wedge must be worried sick, and he might come back for Luke...
Luke could not let that happen; who knew where the Stormtroopers were? Seizing his blaster, he jumped to his feet and began running, out into the clearing. There was no sign of the Stormtroopers, but they could be anywhere. As long as he ran fast, he and Wedge could still escape...
Rain immediately pounded down on him, but he didn’t care; he’d be off the planet soon anyway. He shivered. The atmosphere was extremely cold, almost too cold for a jungle planet, but then again it was raining. He approached the facility—
And Darth Vader rounded the corner.
Luke stopped dead in his tracks, panic threatening to catch up to him again, and his mouth fell open. This couldn’t be real—this had to be some kind of hallucination—there had been no chance Vader would be here at all! But here he was, as real as everything else...
Or maybe not, he thought wildly; Vader still hadn’t spoken, maybe Luke was hallucinating—
“Were you escaping?” Vader’s booming voice dashed Luke’s remaining hopes. “How unfortunate for you.”
Besides all Luke’s other injuries, his right wrist now began to throb, almost painfully, as he took several steps back. The rain was making him dizzy; he had to focus on the Force to keep from stumbling. He felt his hands shaking, and clenched them into fists; but then he couldn’t get enough air. He needed to breathe—he couldn’t breathe—he couldn’t move—
Vader took a step closer, and the movement, more than anything else, made Luke’s decision for him. He turned around, ready to run to his ship—though now he could hardly see through the rain, which had thoroughly drenched him—and almost walked into the round end of a blaster.
Oh. So that was where the Stormtroopers had gone.
“Turn around, Rebel,” one of them said; he was the one with the vibroblade, Luke remembered.
Slowly, almost against his will, Luke did so...and then he looked at the ground. Vader seemed to tower over him. He couldn’t look at the man, couldn’t think about Bespin, couldn’t think about what Vader had told him—couldn’t think at all—
“Bring him into the facility,” Vader said at last. “We will take refuge from the storm there until my shuttle arrives.”
In the distance, one lone X-Wing could be seen taking off into the sky. As the Stormtroopers seized his arms, Luke allowed himself to slump into their grip; now he was sure, if he hadn’t been before, that he would not be able to escape the Empire.

The fact that Vader and Palpatine destroy an entire fucking hive of lyleks in canon is still such a badass concept tbh.

For those Uncommon OC/Creator questions, 7-14 and H for Artious Finn?
(Without giving to much away; Artious Finn (aka Evan Cowel) has been brainwashed more then once, so its going to be a before/after answers with some. Rhys is @cipher-agent‘s pointy boy) x
7. What triggers nostalgia for them, most often? Do they enjoy that feeling?
before: Smell of hot bread, grease, a hearty laugh- They do, it reminds him of Edan and home and his mother
After: A laugh; a certian kind of one. Cant discribe it, but it reminds him of someone or a feeling he used to have
8. What were they told to stop/start doing most often as a child
Stop wondering off, boy used to wonder, Edan would wonder too as a child
9. Do they swear? Do they remember their first swear word?
Before: Yes, a lot. But usually got in troubleAfter: He said fuck once realyl loud after sex once, It was great
10. What lie do they most frequently remember telling? Does it haunt them?
Evan wasn’t one to lie, but after the brainwashing, its hard to know what was through and lies coming out of Artious Finn’s mouth. He doesn't remember the first lie he told. He doesn’t even remember his family.
11. How do they cope with confusion (seek clarification, pretend they understand, etc)?
Before: Nod, smile, then once the person turned around; freak out because non of that made sense and he’s just gonna wing it
After: Ignores and just keeps going.
12. How do they deal with an itch found in a place they can’t quite reach?
A long object or Rhys’s face
13. What color do they think they look best in? Do they actually look best in that color?
Before: Any colours a good colour, but natural is bestAfter: Red and blue ;)
14. What animal do they fear most?
Before: When he was a padawan it was mostly Tython Horranth’sAfter: Lylek’s. Spikes from past brainwashing

Honestly they should just commission the whole of RE... It'd be much, much better than a lot of the shit Disney is putting out (I'm looking at you, Resistance). And I'm still pretending that they're not going to release the Bad Batch arc and make it canon because Echo deserves better.
Failing the commission of RE, I wonder if Dee Bradley Baker would volunteer his services for an audio of (select parts all of) Lylek Squad?
Ever just want to watch fanfiction

The stream is starting at twitch.tv/bestpalbrigade
While the lylek may not make an appearance this week, last week was certainly a nasty surprise for the party as they tried to unload spice from the downed transport craft.
These big bugs stand side by side with rancor and krayt dragons as some of the most dangerous threats in the Star Wars universe. Needless to say, fighting one outright is an invitation for death.

Welcome...
to Motir Ca’tra Nau Tracinya. Those who stand before us light the night sky in flame This is a collection of fanpoety for @deadcatwithaflamethrower’s wonderful Re-Entry series. It features one poem for every single chapter (excluding the Timeline) of Re-Entry and Journey of the Whills so far and will continue to update with new works when there are further updates to the story. Re-Entry saved my life. It was a story of hope, second chances and of life, living and love that I desperately needed to read. It gave me multiple new ships and was my entry point into the star wars fandom on tumblr - and brought to me many friends and helped me get back into writing and discover so many brilliant authors. So here it is, an archive, a tribute - a show of my sincere appreciation. You may recognise some of these pieces from my own main blog (jahaliel). Beneath the cut is the list of chapters and associated poems (plus the asides which are extras) (You can use /chrono instead of this masterpost - all poems are tagged as “re-entry fanpoem project” so motircatranautracinya.tumblr.com/tagged/re-entry fanpoem project/chrono which will display the posts in chronological order for you. ) WARNING THIS CONTAINS MAJOR SPOILERS FOR EVENTS IN THE FANFIC SO CONSIDER READING THAT FIRST!!! I HAVE NOT TAGGED FOR SPOILERS!! ALSO PLEASE SEE FIC TAGS FOR WARNINGS ETC. Here is a link to Re-Entry and Journey of the Whills
