Maria Fielding in Visual Novels

A 💘 will indicate who in the game is Maria's love interest.

Since (most of) these are psychological thriller romance visual novels, I will say this about Maria's personality in relationships with yanderes:

Maria is easy to lie to, but hard to manipulate.

She is very trusting and respectful of others and their feelings, so she won't push on a lie she notices one (she usually doesn't.)

However, she is extremely pragmatic and logical, and will call out contradictions in things like gaslighting or manipulation. You can't convince her of something she knows isn't true, and she will point it out if someone impedes what she believes to be an obvious boundary.

Lucifer

he noticed the signs pretty early on in your relationship

lucifer didn't want to jump to any conclusions though, so he just kind of kept an eye on you to see whether his suspicions were correct or not

there were days when you skipped rad, and lately they became more frequent

it was literally a whole chore for you to even get out of bed, you stayed in it the whole day, not even eating, were you too tired to feel any hunger?

lucifer didn't waste a second when you didn't show up at school for the third day in a row, he made his way over to your room

'mc, I've noticed some worrisome behavior, do you mind telling me what's wrong?'

when you broke down crying and told him everything, lucifer mentally facepalmed for not listening to his gut before

he will find you a great therapist if you want one, lucifer hopes you'll gradually feel better, he's afraid there isn't much he can do on his own and it hurts his pride

Diavolo

he definitely thought it was a bit odd for a human to participate in kind of dangerous activities, like leaning really far back in a chair that wasn't made for those things

but diavolo didn't think those actions had concerning roots in suicidal thoughts

also when you'd seem frustrated out of the blue, he just assumed you had a bad day or something

eventually all these little worrying traits of yours piled up into a mountain of warning signs, that was when diavolo decided to talk about it

part of him didn't want to start this conversation, what if there's nothing wrong? or worse, what if something is wrong? what does he do? can he help?

the worst case scenario was true: you were actually suicidal

the prince wants to help, but what can he do other than show you gestures of affection, is that enough to help? do you need a professional?

Barbatos

even though barbatos is a really observant demon, he does tend to get consumed by his work, neglecting everything else

you were a little mentally unwell before, but lately it's gotten so much worse

it seemed like there was no light at the end of the tunnel, every day you felt a little better, somehow you felt extra shitty the next day, the cycle never ended

you can't see hope, that's how you ended up in the demon lord's bathroom with some pills

luckily barbatos walked in on you because he had to clean in there, who knows how it would have ended otherwise

the usually collected demon has a hard time keeping his cool, he hates himself for not paying attention to you

could he have prevented this? what led up to this?

the butler doesn't know what to do

Simeon

he thought you were just in a dip, suicide didn't seem like a possibility to him

simeon tried many little things to cheer you up, like bringing you your favorite flowers or cooking your favorite food

but nothing seemed to make you happy again, how bad is this dip?

it hit him what was going on the night he tried to take you to your favorite restaurant

you refused to leave your room, begging simeon to leave you alone and even insulting him when you got too upset

'mc, you haven't been outside in a week, and you haven't been eating well-'

he knows other angels who went through this, oh no are you depressed? he straight up asked you, but you blurted out you wanted to die

if you're not too mad at him, he'll come and hold you, offering to listen to all your frustrations, that's sadly all he can do

Satan

he's read a ton of books, suicide being a topic in some of them, so satan notices the signs really fast

you seemed to be spaced out a lot, and lately you experienced zero pleasure in things you used to love

you physically felt sick, your chest was heavy, there seemed to be no point in carrying on if it had to be like this

satan took you somewhere safe and let you know he's there for you if you want to talk, he also probably knows a therapist or two

when you confirm his suspicions, he genuinely doesn't know how to approach the situation despite all the mental health books he's read

if you want to talk to a trained professional, he can get you one in less than an hour

Beelzebub

after the celestial war, beel probably had his suicidal moments from the guilt

he recognised his 'symptoms' in you immediately, and man he knows how awful those feel

but, how would you want to be treated in the moment? do you want him to ask you about it or would that upset you?

so beel tries to do little things that would make your day a little better

'mc, which flavor of chips do you want? I got sour cream and cheese'

eventually he will directly talk to you about it

if you're really hopeless, beel will tell you it always gets better, relapsing is part of recovery and he himself is living proof that things will get better

Randy is genuinely very kind to the mc, and at the end of Randy’s good route, he gets a job he doesn’t despise, and a place to live that isn’t a dumpster, and he also gains a lot of confidence. Do you have any book recs that are f/f or have female or nonbinary main characters, or or maybe no romance but have good like. Gender ..? I remember u recommended blindsight and I read it and loved it. So if have any other recs, doesn't have to be similar genre, but other recs without romance strictly? I think I like your taste in books

(sorry this was kind of a vague ask but I'd be interested in whatever recommendations u think of)

i have a few you might like!! unfortunately i don't seek/read nb books personally, but for f/f romance there's This Is How You Lose The Time War by Max Gladstone and Amal El-Mohtar, of course. i do think it deserves the spike in popularity it got recently, especially if you eat up flowery writing like a starving beast. The Luminous Dead by Caitlin Starling is kind of a tame horror with f/f romance but i liked it more for the whole scary cave exploring plot, and the romance felt secondary anyway. Ancestral Night by Elizabeth Bear is space scifi about a lesbian MC whose salvaging mission uncovers a terrible crime. has some f/f interactions but does not end in romance.

and then for gender, the Machineries of Empire series by Yoon Ha Lee series features a cis woman with a cis guy living in her head and the only way i can explain it is it comes off as one of the most Gender things ive ever read, even if the 2nd book's plot kind of sucks. it has a Lot of unique and cool scifi concepts too (math weapons and pretty geometry and living gunships), and other nb and trans side characters. plus the author is trans himself. The Ophiuchi Hotline by John Varley had a lot of unexpected gender moments (and casual bisexuality). it's a world where casual sex changes are normal, and it comes off surprisingly forward for being written in 1977. the writing feels smooth and modern, and is overall very weird (affectionate) with a cool female MC.

for something Not scifi, Gossamer Axe by Gael Baudino is an urban fantasy about a magical celtic harpist utilizing the power of heavy metal and friendship to save her lover still trapped in the faery realm they both tried to escape. so it's got an established romance but its more about the journey (and the music) to get her woman back.

tldr; for you personally I'd say Machineries of Empire, Ophiuchi Hotline, and Ancestral Night would be the strongest matches based on you being a Blindsight enjoyer and wanting little to no romance. hope this helps! :]

Just found out about a death in the DDLC community, so I may need to skip today’s Inktober :(

Suicide always impacts me a lot regardless of who it is, since I have a lot of history around suicidal friends, as well as depression myself. On top of this, a close family member passed away this week, which I’ve been trying to process.

In lieu of an artwork today, unless I suddenly gain the motivation to later on, I’d just like to post some links to remind folks that there are resources out there if you’re having a hard time.

You never know what’s going on in somebody’s life, so please try your best to have empathy with people.

Edit: if I do end up making art today, it’ll be MC/Sayori art. That was her favourite ship, and during her last days people were harassing her for it.

Backstory Changes: None, except now she has a terminal heart condition, poor girl.

Relationships:

💘(???) CASANOVA: "A date for a heart? No way that's true--" Maria is bewildered by this prospect, but also won't hesitate if it means getting a new heart. If she falls for him or has to eventually break the act, it can really go either way. She's also not bothered by the cannibalism, as long as he doesn't kill people. ...Does he kill people? Should she run--?

CYANIDE: "A very cute nurse." Maria has a minor crush on the Cyanide, but will happily be friends with her instead. Overall, she just likes chatting with her when she picks up her prescription!

PESTILENCE: "My very good friend!" Pestilence is someone Maria has known a long time and trusts completely! They talk frequently, and Maria goes to them for advice all the time. She honestly doesn't flinch at Pestilience's hobbies, but will point out anything shady and the potential consequences. She'll probably do what they say when she asks what she should do about Casanova.

KETAMINE: "Nice tattoos." He is not someone Maria would like to talk to very much on account of her disliking bugs, but she still holds a polite respect for him. And likes his tattoos. If push comes to shove, she will try to make him an ally over an enemy!

Camp Willowpeak:

Backstory Changes: None! She just gets a job as a camp counselor!

(Note: there is no set love interest 💘 for Maria in this universe yet because I want to see how this story progresses and learn more about the characters!)

Relationships:

HARPER: "He's cool, but hmm..." Maria is very friendly with Harper! They bond over a fondness for musicals and swimming. But he is sort of intense with her, and that really throws her off. She would have no idea what to do if he ever asked her out, because they haven't known each other long.

GAVIN: "Dork!" Maria gets along well with Gavin, mostly because of their silly humor, but she teases him for having 0 game.

SOHPIE: "She rules!" Maria is good friends with Sophie, they're both outgoing, and she reminds her to eat when she forgets.

CAMMI: "Cammi is the best!" Maria and Cammi get along very well, they're both responsible and hardworking and have a passion for learning! But she does want Cammi to remember to have fun.

DANTE: "Cool older guy." Maria likes how sociable he is and gets along well with him, but they don't actually interact much. Still, she respects him a lot!

JAZZ: "Don't stare, don't stare, don't--" Jazz is so attractive that Maria will avoid her, but it's very hard to do when they work together! Still, she appreciates Jazz's guidance.

Honey Hotline:

Backstory Changes: None, except that Maria is still taking college classes, maybe for a masters or PHD!

Relationships:

💘FONE: "Gosh, he's cute!" Maria doesn't often notice people who don't interact with her, but she knows she's seen Fone around even before they were formally introduced. He always struck her as a cute guy who preferred to be alone, so she never approached. Now that they're in a group together, she'd like to get to know him.

AMSEY: "She's really sweet!" Maria likes Amsey so much, they're such a sweet person and easy to talk to. She'd like to keep hanging out, and wants to invite them to join a rec team!

SEON: "Cool dude!" Maria admired him for a while for being so composed and hardworking in class, but once they started to hang out, they became nerd buddies, gushing over their favorite shows.

My Dear Hatchet Man:

Backstory Changes: None, just a specification that Maria moved to Canada for college and is still attending classes.

Relationships:

💘ALAN: "He's interesting!" He's a hot guy from the woods showing interest in her. Maria is swooning. If she finds out about the murder and supernatural stuff, she might try to save him from the whole thing. But when she realizes he's like that and also a stalker(?), well.... 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️

ERIKA: "I want us to be friends!" Maria likes Erika! They're on acquaintance terms, and she'd like them to be real friends!

STU: "YOU!" Maria went to elementary and middle school with Stu, but not high school. They were good friends. She is stunned he's here and would like to be friends again.

The Groom of Gallagher Mansion:

Backstory Changes: None!

Relationships:

💘ELIAS: "He's more handsome than I expected." Maria has never considered dating a ghost, but she sure is now. And she's so sympathetic and curious about his life story, and wants to get along with him genuinely.

TAYLOR: "My friend!" They are good friends and share a passion for horror and the supernatural! They were equally enthusiastic by the idea of going to the manor, but Taylor is more than a little concerned by Maria's interest in romancing the ghost.

You and Him:

Backstory Changes: None, except now Maria has an aunt and another side job!

Relationships:

ADAM: "FUCK. OFF." Maria is throwing hands at this man every chance she gets. Once she learns about where this plot is going, she'll get into detective mode and force him to work with her until they can figure out the truth. He doesn't get a choice, she can be very demanding. Someone who stabbed her gets no manners.

SAFFRON: "AAAAAHHHH!!" No flight! Just fight! Maria is so sick of people attacking her by this point, she will go sicko mode and bite this guy's fingers off if he tries anything.
