Treemaidengeek writes exclusively in CQL canon. She tends to specialize more in rarepairs, but also has some Wangxian, and she's an excellent writer!

Was it his fault that he wasn’t able to secure you a spot in heaven? Is that why you were dancing with the demons?

And how did all of this happen under his nose?

Eichi watched in disbelief when a fifth member of Sakuma’s unit walked up onto the stage, welcomed quite warmly by the crowd. It was none other than you, [name], being all buddy-buddy with the one man he rather disliked- Rei Sakuma.

An ugly emotion filled the blonde, staining his perfectly-kept persona. It took him forever to earn your trust, even more just to get a real smile. And yet here you were, grinning crookedly as you were embraced by the other unit members.

What did he do wrong? What didn’t he do right?

That look Sakuma shot him; he could’ve swore it was haughtiness. It couldn’t be anything else.

“Eichi,” A gruff voice sounded from behind him, and half-glaring cyan eyes turned to see Keito Hasumi standing near the exit, his arms loosely crossed.

He gestured over to him. “Come on. Wallowing over your regrets won’t you do any good.”

Although the leader of AKATSUKI was slightly thrown off by Eichi’s coldness, he nonetheless followed him out of the auditorium, shutting the door behind him and cutting off the crowd’s cheering. The walk was tense, quiet.

What did I do to deserve this?

All I wanted was to have you on my side. And you left... because of my foolishness.

Next, I wanted to see you again. I did, but with the wrong people.

What’s... what’s next?

“Keito,” Eichi murmured, grabbing the other male’s attention.

“Yes?”

The leader of fine opened his mouth to begin, but shut it instantly. How foolish of me to think I could tell him.

“Ah, nothing,” He managed a smile. “Thank you for picking me up, but I can manage from here on out.”

Keito shot him a disbelieving glance, but seeing that he needed some space, he said his goodbyes and walked off, likely towards the Rhythm Link building. Eichi was left alone right outside of the auditorium, the night spring air chilling his thin bones.

Two strikes, [name]. First abandonment and now favoritism.

Tsumugi Aoba - Alkaloid

Tsumugi was all in it to help the newly-hatched unit that Natsume proposed an offer to. But he didn’t expect to see you there with them.

The air was awkard between the two, but it was only noticed by the leader of Switch himself and that tall teal-haired man, Tatsumi as he called himself. The blue-haired idol resorted to staring at the couch, whereas you stood behind Hiiro as if he was a helpful barrier. The other present boys payed no matter to the elephant in the room, instead talking about their present predicament.

“Well, it seemS to me thaT we have ourSELVES a deaL,” Natsume huffed, pleased. “PleaSURE to be workING witH you, AlkaLOID.”

“The pleasure is all mine, Sakasaki!” Hiiro nodded, grinning. “Thank you so much for this!”

“Well, it seems it’s going somewhat smooth,” Tatsumi sighed out in relief. “Now if you would excuse us, we would like to start training-”

“Ah aH,” The red-haired male stopped, ignoring Tsumugi’s pleading glances.

Natsume crossed his arms. “I woulD like to borROW [name] here foR a minUTE. I do hopE you don’t minD.”

“Uh...” Hiiro shot you a worried glance, taking in your stiff smile. After a few seconds, you nodded hesitantly.

“Yes, that’s fine...”

“WonderFUL. Off you gO then,” He waved off the rest of your unitmates, shutting the door behind him. As soon as they were gone he stepped in between you and Tsumugi, scowling.

“If we’RE going to worK this out, theN you two arE going tO have to fiGURE out your... situaTION.” He huffed. “Come oN, soRA.”

And there they left, leaving you and Tsumugi alone.

“...”

“Uh...”

“Nice seeing you again, Tsumugi,” You finally said, managing a smile. As soon as you gave that heartwarming expression, the male felt unknown anger melt away.

He realized that he was surprisingly mad at you ever since you left. How come he didn’t realize it sooner? Why was he? Then again, he took the childish promise to heart and you broke it. Not only it shot down his confidence, but he closed off doors open to only you.

Now you were back, and he should be happy for you. But a little selfish part of him wanted you to be with him, be on his side. Of course you should choose for yourself, but to think that maybe, just maybe you could have joined Switch...

“Aoba...?”

“Ah- sorry,” The idol chuckled, rubbing the nape of his neck. “Uhm, nice to see you too, [name].”

“It seems like you’re doing good,” You observed, giving him another kind smile. “I’m glad that I’m seeing you once again.”

Nagisa Ran - Crazy:B

Nagisa was perfectly aware that Ibara was off doing his own thing. He didn’t care as long as it didn’t affect neither him nor the people he cared for.

But of course he doesn’t have eyes on everybody.

So to say the least he was astonished when he saw that Ibara had elected you for Crazy:B.

the leader of Eden knew that this newfound unit was being created in order to raise the popularity of their unit. They were just scapegoats.

It couldn’t be that bad. Ibara wasn’t that cruel.

Still, he kept an eye on you as you got used to the idol industry once again, but it did hurt him. Seeing you so comfortable around those unorthodox idols, laughing so easily... you never were like that with him.

How come?

Guess it didn’t matter... as long as you were fine.

MDM was sketchy though. He didn’t like the fact that you had to fight your way in order to survive, otherwise you would have been fired forever. He actually despised that fact... after not seeing you for so long, the idea of you leaving again crushed him. It was close, but you guys managed to pull through, thank goodness.

Until Ibara sparked the idea of a variety show challenging the idols of Crazy:B. That was the limit.

He never found out what type of ‘treasure’ you seeked, so you, along with HiMERU, Ibara provided both ‘past’ and ‘future’ treasures.

Nagisa remembered how... constricted you felt when you were part of fine. He never wanted to see you like that again, and yet it might happen because of this.

He can’t let that happen.

“Ibara,” He had mentioned one day, his voice quiet.

The male perked up. “Yes, Your Highness-?”

He stepped back a bit in surprise, staring at Nagisa who walked up to him with a dark gaze. “Yes...?”

“I have warned you before, and I didn’t think I would have to again. You have proven me wrong.” Nagisa said condescendingly.

“May... may I ask what you mean?”

“Don’t pry into other’s past,” He hissed, his calm facade dropping as he glared at the latter. “I cannot overlook that anymore.”

“Leave [name] alone.”

“The Crazy:B kid?” Ibara muttered, his voice faint. “Does he mean something to you?”

“I wouldn’t be saying anything if he didn’t,” Nagisa glowered. “And because we are here right now, don’t try to create trouble for them or I personally will take care of you.”

Saegusa was shellshocked. Of course he had people he cared for, but never had he witnessed him get so protective over somebody.

And he never wants to again.

“U-understood, Your Highness.”

After clarification, Nagisa calmed down, his usual demeanor returning. “Good.”

Not under my watch will you be harmed by anyone.

Hiyori Tomoe - Valkyrie

Hiyori always enjoys the meetings with the Pretty 5- they were always endearing discussing new shops, fashion trends and such.

But he wasn’t sure whether to be happy or horrified when Mika brought a visitor.

“Guys, meet [name],” Mika patted your shoulder, and you waved your hand. Of course Arashi and Aira fell all over you, Tori bombarding you with questions, as Hiyori stood rooted in your position.

“He’s a new member of Valkyrie.”

No. That’s impossible.

“What?” Hiyori yelped quite loudly, catching the attention of the others. “[name]?!”

After seeing a familiar face, your expression brightened. “Hiyori-!”

“You came back but never bothered to see me first?” The male surged forward and shook you violently, causing Mika to panic. “Not only that, but not join Eden?! [name], what the hell happened to our promise?! You said you would come back for me!!”

“Hiyori-chan,” Arashi soothed the male, trying to pull you away from him. “Calm down. You’re worrying our poor guest.”

They were worried that he had unfortunately had fallen into a sour mood, but that didn’t seem to be the case. The idol was genuinely shocked.

“Hiyori, just let me explain,” You rushed out, afraid for another outburst. “I was anticipating greatly to see you and Nagisa once again, but I thought it would be quite rude to intervene such a tight group...”

“Isn’t Valkyrie a tight group?” Tori muttered under his breath.

“No, only me,” Hiyori corrected you, grabbing the sides of your face and pulling you closer to him, a pout evident on his face. “Only me, right?”

S-sure...

The male hmph-ed at your lack of response. “Fine, be like that. I apologize, Mika, but I will be stealing [name]. My condolences to Itsuki.”

“?!”

“You can do that?”

The other idols had to thoroughly convice Hiyori to at least take back that proposal, but they only succeeded in you not being forced away from Valkyrie. Thank god, Itsuki would have had an aneurysm. But you were still in his arms, no chance of running away.

Unfortunately, he couldn’t have you right on his side, just like Jun-kun. But during his free times... like hell he’s going to attach you to him like a brooch on his jacket. Yes, you are his most precious treasure in the world.

Mikagura - POV Hiiro

[Mikagura: a ritual dance performed at the imperial court and various important Shinto shrines. It consists of welcoming, entertaining and greeting the deities with humorous or poetic syllabic songs.]

Hiiro hears the singing before he sees the source.

He's strolling through one of the side gardens, thinking over one of his homework questions, when he's alerted to the distant sound of instruments. Music isn't uncommon in Ensemble Square, but it's mostly the music that the idol units are making. The music now vaguely resembles Akatsuki's songs, but it's slower and doesn't have modern instruments.

Hiiro turns a corner, curious about what's going on.

Water floats around Aira, ribbons swirling around his arms and legs as he steps back and forth with a string of bells in hand. He's dancing to the music, chanting with his eyes closed and moving as if it were the most natural thing in the world. Hiiro can see the kamuy dancing with him, water, storm, and war caressing his cheek like a mother to her child.

The music ends. With a sweep of his hand, the water surrounding Aira comes together in one long stream, and it funnels into the water bottle by the door. The spirits settle around Aira's shoulders like a winter cloak. Finished, Aira bows (to the kamuy?), opens his eyes and--

He is surprised, but the realization is... slow. His unitmate is settled, possibly in that floaty feeling Hiiro gets after finishing prayers, when his mind is more in the spritual realm than the human one. There is also something... other. Something playful and tricky and entirely inhuman.

Hiiro's throat is bone dry, and he swallows, opening his mouth to say... something.

But nothing comes out, because Aira places a finger to his mouth in a gesture for quiet. In fact, he seems to be physically unable to say anything. Aira gives a high pitched laugh, beams at him uncharacteristically, and blinks.

Aira shakes his head, and he's suddenly back to his usual countenance.

"Sorry," he says. "Ame-no-Uzume is a bit of a trickster."

"Ame... no Uzume?"

"You don't know a lot about Shinto gods, do you?" Aira remarks drily.

"Nope!" He'd like to learn more, if possible. The part of him that was trained to protect Nii-san rises, seeing all the possibilities of danger from such casual possession.

Aira takes a breath, exhales, and recites a story like he's heard it a thousand times before. "The sun goddess, Amaterasu, once quarreled with her brother, Susanoo, the god of sea and storms. After coming together to produce children, Susanoo vandalized her rice fields, flayed a horse and threw it at her loom, and brutally killed one of her maidservants. Amaterasu, furious, forfeited her divinity and retreated to a cave. As a result, the world was plunged into eternal night.

"The other gods came together to confer on the situation. In a bid to draw her out, Ame no Uzume placed a mirror by the cave's entrance, leapt upon an upturned tub, and proceeded to dance while tearing off her clothes. The other gods, stunned, started to laugh.

"Amaterasu heard the laughter and wondered how they could be happy in a world of eternal night. She looked out, and upon seeing her beautiful face in the mirror, went to take a closer look. As Amaterasu left the cave, the other gods threw a sacred rope across the cave entrance, preventing her from returning. Amaterasu agreed to rejoin the divine, and light was restored to the world.

And thus Ame no Uzume became known as the Heavenly Alarming Female."

Aira smiles, expression showing that he's still bit out of it. "Ame no Uzume is the goddess of revelry and the arts. I was praying for a good result in the MDM." he considers, and continues, "A sacred dance opens up your heart and mind to outside forces. Usually the gods have better things to do than to possess a random human, but Ame no Uzume likes to have a little fun."

"So it's like a send-off ritual," Hiiro murmurs.

Aira shrugs. "I... guess? I don't know much about your traditions."

Hiiro glances at Aira, just in time to see him sway concerningly. Hiiro slings an arm over Aira's shoulder to steady him, and Aira rests his head on his shoulder. "How long have you been praying?"

" 's the shorter ritual.. six hours?" Aira slurs.

Hiiro presses his lips together and declares, "I'm going to carry you back to the dorm."

Aira, already half asleep, doesn't do more than hum an assent.

Ok lol talking about the job I quit

So I didn't outright say it but I had to report them to OSHA because they made me clean up a biohazard with no training and no equipment. I worked in housekeeping at a condo resort and a guest broke a shower door and I was told to clean up the bloody glass. Afterwards OSHA made them right up a big letter and hold a meeting about how we are no longer allowed to clean biohazards and then ultimately nothing changed because when we asked if we could get sterile gloves and training on how to deal with biohazards because we were constantly getting them back in the laundry (which was processed on sight by us and a large part of the job despite never being mentioned on my job listing description lmao) they gave us a biohazard bin to dispose of stuff and nothing else. We got like.......blood and shit and piss and barf on sheets and towels constantly. Also I worked here during the monkeypox outbreak and had to convince my coworkers to even wear gloves when handling the dirty laundry in the first place. I strained my back from loading a washing machine and when I tried to go to the doctor I was denied after waiting an hour and a half because it was "supposed to be" workers comp and I hadn't gotten permission from my work place to be seen and it was sooooooo upsetting it sucked so bad. And then I was told to return to work on light duty even though I could hardly walk or stand straight and I told the doctor there is no sitting position at my work and he literally was just like ¯⁠\⁠_⁠(⁠ツ⁠)⁠_⁠/⁠¯. When I returned I went back to normal work after like a day and it definitely did not help.

Also the whole place was so fucking racist oh my god. Unsurprisingly but I hated it the only poc were me and another housekeeping person and then all the contracted cleaners are Latino. And they were treated like shit they paid them the lowest in our area and had unreasonable expectations. Also one condo owner in particular was a huge racist and kept accusing her assigned cleaning company of being bad at their job and stealing stuff and when we did deep cleans during the winter she emailed out manager and said I spoke with your singular white cleaner (and not her black superior in the company she did not own) and we agreed she should do the deep clean so do it instead. I printed out the email here it is.

Oh also during deep cleans which are a week long and more than triple the price of a normal clean they started taking away units from companies who had been working in them all year long and didn't tell them to give them to another company. Our managers would not speak to them and one time one of our cleaners came in crying and the non management housekeeping had to tell her what was happening instead of LITERALLY ANYONE IN CHARGE.

Ever since the OSHA report they were like ohhhh we need to get ready cause their could be a surprise inspection anytime and came to find out MDMS sheets for the DANGEROUS CHEMICALS we used to process laundry were last updated at 2010 the latest and 2003 the earliest. 19 years out of date. Btw of course we didn't store them properly either :) here are pictures I took of the inside of house keeping. Oh yeah also we used pilot light dryers and there was no carbon monoxide alarm in this room. Also halfway through me working there we found out that one of the two fire alarms didn't even work. And no sprinklers!

Yes that is our only eyewash station and yes it did expire in 2019 😊. The Ceiling leaked and in multiple places mold grew that we had to keep spraying with bleach. All those open five gall buckets? They say to store in locked containers and keep them sealed. Yes we were breathing in evaporated hydrogen peroxide. And as you can see the walls of this room are lined with towels sheets and blankets all the way to the ceiling.

Anyway the reason I quit was the last day I worked there we were pulled into a meeting suddenly where our manager told us that everytime she was mad at us she added it to a list and now she was going to give us this list as our job guides. Because we had been saying "that's not my job too much". There are 2 dedicated maintenance departments of that property and they were sending me and my coworkers to fix a leaking shower, lift 50-90 lb packages that had been delivered to units containing freezers and chairs, change lightbulbs, and fix windows with 0 tools or training. We were in that meeting for over an hour and at the end she gave us all a write up for something that happened two weeks ago and we were never even told was a problem. My direct manager was there the whole time and said not one word in support of us despite verbally agreeing with us on all these issues. Oh and also she and my coworker had been getting into explosive fights on the reg that were giving me panic attacks. My coworker refused to work in the dangerous weather during a hurricane and my direct manager said "you aren't allowed to tell me what you are and aren't going to do." :) And by explosive I mean screaming and crying.

So yeah. There's like one billion other things but that's all for now I'm done I just started thinking about it this morning and thought I should share.
