Out of daydreaming madness I drew Chara Dreemurr in Kingdom Hearts instead of Sora (for... reasons) bowing down to Hades when meeting him in the Arena, because it's the first god they meet (*cough*that is not their brother*cough*) and they just assumed it was a respectful thing to do.

Hades is pleasantly surprised.

Donald and Goofy, not so much.

Astarion, at his very core, is scared, and even ascended it's all too apparent. No matter how much he tries to cover his fear with the veneer of confidence and control, he wants to be wanted, to be needed. So he wants to have control over you, so that you would never even think of leaving him.

In other words: Ascended Astarion is very very yucky and tragic and I hate him but can't help but pity him :(

bro i love characters who are born on august 1st in liberio internment zone, marley to a teen mother whos name ends in -ina. and put into a child soldier program against their will by their parents and absolutely suck at it. and they still end up getting deployed and getting a titan due to their loyalty to marley. and they go from being an extremely weak timid child to a cocky physically intimidating teen/adult. and they are an older brother figure to Eren Yeager. and they are idolized by the people of lower rank to them. and they are traumatized. and they are suicidal. and they might have a personality disorder.

Fanfic Meta: Inko

Alright, a couple days ago some friends and I were discussing trends in character portrayals and backgrounds in fanfiction and the topic of Inko came up.

Please know that this is not an attack on anyone in particular, we all have our own ways of writing characters in our fics.

Fanfiction is purely for fun and I recognize that what I find fascinating may not resonate with others, and that what most people enjoy won’t jive with me. 

However, I can’t stop thinking about how some portrayals of Inko have some very unfortunate implications if you think too hard about it.

I can understand that the people who do this mean well and want to let her and Izuku have good things, and I do agree that they should have good things especially after the suffering and torment some of us put them through in our fics, but there are some aspects of this particular portrayal that my friends and I wound up scratching our heads over.

Basically there are a few fics that like to make Inko into a high-powered character with various connections and/or wealth, but they still have Izuku be bullied to either a similar or worse degree than what we get in canon.

Which then brings up this issue; if she has all of this power and influence, then why hasn’t anything been done about the bullying her son has gone through?

It is known that wealthy and well-connected parents will throw around money and influence to help their kids in whatever is needed, so you would think Inko would do the same to stop her son from being bullied the way he was.

If she does hold that much influence, then she could have complained to Aldera about the bullying and be listened to because of her connections.

And if they refused, she could have pulled Izuku out and sued Aldera for negligence and discrimination.

Which circles us back to this question;

“Well why didn’t she?”

There’s only a couple possible answers to this question, and none of them paint Inko in a good light.

One possible answer is that she didn’t notice anything, which soon becomes very illogical if this is a setting where the bullying gets incredibly physical and flat out negligent.

Though even if the setting is where the bullying is not nearly as physical, she should at least notice that her son no longer has any friends.

Doesn’t mention hanging out with Bakugou.

Never goes to hang out with friends from school, nothing.

Which is a sign that she doesn’t pay attention to her son, still negligence and does not work with the idea that she cares about Izuku.

Another possible answer is that she did notice, but didn’t care.

I think it should be obvious why this is such a major issue and absolutely does not work if the fic is supposed to convince us that she loves her son.

Because surely she would have used her connections to do something to help her son when he’s obviously suffering, right?

It’s unfortunate, but giving Inko all of these connections and wealth doesn’t paint her in a good light when her son is still getting severely bullied.

Sorry, but I just can’t stop thinking about this now after having that discussion with a couple friends.

It would not be worth it to take offense, even if they were injured. ] "If thee truly means thy apology, then It is alright."
