💬 something you wish you knew 5 years ago?
🌺 describe your aesthetic (even if it’s just what you’re wearing now)
Hello my lovely:
🍀 meaningful life-lesson or quote you vibe to? When I was younger, I had just gotten dumped by my first love. Broke my heart. We were together for six months. I know, I know it wasn't too long. But it was high school and that was a long time for that age, and did I mention he was my first love?
Anyways, my mom told me, "Always make sure that they love you more than you love them." It was a cynical way of looking at love, sure. But it stuck with me.
🥘 what is the best meal you make? or bake? I make a good carbonara 😋 NGL. For dinner last night, I made braised short-ribs with mashed potatoes. Then we get to the Filipino dishes: Caldareta, Nilaga, Chicken Adobo, Pancit, Sinigang, Tinola, Pancit Palabok. Come over, I am the typical Asian mom that will feed you.
💬 something you wish you knew 5 years ago? I wish I knew you five years ago! Really! 😘
🌺 describe your aesthetic (even if it’s just what you’re wearing now) Tom Hiddleston! That's all I wanna wear. hahahaha. NO, reallyI answered it here.

heyyyyyy nixie!!!! how are you? i've missed randomly stopping in to admire the cats on your blog, hit you with a string of incoherent nonsense, and then disappear again. in fact, i've missed it so much that i've come to do just that <3
so,,,,, if you saw me ask cass these same questions, don't think about it. in fact, forget you saw it at all because it makes this soooo much more mysterious,,,,,, i have some random yet specific questions for you to answer. they will make some semblance of sense in approximately 14-21 business days, i promise.
what is your favorite food?
favorite color?
favorite song(s)?
favorite tv show/movie?
favorite book genre?
favorite hobby?
do you have any random habits?
what is your love language (when it comes to giving and receiving)?
what is one thing that you think you’re just incredibly amazing at? (the more random the better, asdfghjklkjhgfd)
what is one thing we should never entrust you to do/complete?
what languages do you speak/understand? are you currently learning any?
what is your ideal type when it comes to a romantic partner?
if you were getting a small tattoo (and I mean babie size) where would you get it?
is there anything simply iconic about you that you think the public ought to know?
anyway, ily bestie <3
OLIVE!! HI!!!
super glad to see you on my blog! i’m doing quite well, thank you very much! i’ve missed your presence so much, and like you, i’ve also been on and off in activity in this site due to personal busy-ness.
while i am a teensy bit curious, the questions do seem like such fun, so here are my responses after the cut:
1. i love love love sinigang! its this filipino soup that i’ve only ever tasted homemade, and boy it is delicious! this is a recipe that nearly every filipino household has memorized in their own little way, and it just reminds me of home
2. yellow :)
3. once upon a december from anastasia or alternatively, to mix it up, your ex lover is dead (final fantasy mix) by stars
4. ohh this question is hard. a recent fave of mine is the sound of magic which is constantly giving me brainrots every other day, but merlin is a show that will constantly live in my heart!
5. classic literature! i love all types, but gothic literature is particularly interesting to me. also love fantasy!
6. my favorite hobby is crocheting and knitting! i group them together as they are essentially the same fiber art, just different methods to create v similar things
7. i sing random opera notes when i’m nervous lol ( not particularly good at it, but somehow vibrato and high notes are unlocked in those occasions )
8. i give love through gifts! my go-to gift is to crochet a tiny heart stress plushie for people and ahh theyre and i get so happy giving them. i love sharing food or even just odd things i find. as for receiving, i am such a sucker for words of affirmation. heartfelt silly notes my beloved <3
9. i am practically an expert at untangling yarn and knots by now. after being into the fiber arts for about three years, its safe to say i’ve done it far too much.
edit: i forgot to mention this before, but proud to say that one of my weirdest best talents is that i can accurately mimic a goat sound. in addition to this, i can make rlly weird sounds out of this and shift the vowels so it just sounds really odd and cursed 😭. its hard to explain— but its my favorite trick to show off and make people laugh in confused horror
10. i am known for being one of the biggest hazard myself. i am super clumsy, and my sense of self preservation is usually thrown out the window when it comes to tasks that are physically taxing. in addition to this, my fatal flaw is perhaps my un-athleticism
11. other than english, i’m understand tagalog! it is my first language, and while i don’t speak it much, i understand it fluently. as for learning, i’ve been studying french for two years now, however i am far from fluent (yet).
12. ooh this is an interesting question! i haven’t had a non-fictional crush in a while hah so its more difficult to narrow down a specific type. besides the general criteria ( like not being an asshole ), overall, i just look for someone who is really sweet and caring! being smart is also a big plus for me, as i would like someone whom i can share my academic interests with. and i’d prob like someone who is a tad more extroverted than me to balance my reservedness. think golden retriever energy.
13. i would prob get one below my ear on my neck. i feel like its a cool enough place, and i can always hide it with my hair or makeup if necessary.
14. i am like halfway through owning a small business hah. at the moment, i’ve just been selling locally through crochet/knit commissions, but i am in the process of expanding to online! and, for anyone who is a mutual and interested, i might share my public insta acc for it via dm if you pinky promise not to share it linked to my tumblr ( it has semi - personal info )

March 25, 2023
Slept last night at around 1am trying to wizz through the Open Beta of Diablo 4. Played as the necromancer this time but also really wanted to play as the Druid. Hugged Eddie good night and sleeping with him offers a different kind of comfort that I can never find with anyone else.
Woke up at around 6am I don't know why and beat him in Wordle. Had a steamy morning cuddle and went downstairs for breakfast which we had the leftover asian takeaway and I requested him to make a garlic egg fried rice dish. Nothing much today because I just played Diablo 4 today trying to get to level 25.
Requested sinigang na baboy for lunch and once again, as always, food tasted amazing. It's always better when someone else makes your food, in my opinion. Or it's better when you're not just making food for yourself because otherwise I'll get really conscious about how they'd think my cooking'll taste.
Ed's going out tonight. He invited me to come but didn't really feel like going out because 1. I don't know the guy who's hosting the party 2. I don't do too well with people I've just barely known 3. Socializing IN ENGLISH with native english speakers is not something I'm very good at and 4. I'll just keep Eddie from having fun. Told him that I'm not going to overthink when he's away and that he should go because it's his friend that's hosting the party. To be honest, I'm so done with thinking the way I think. I can't be constantly living in fear and for better reasons above the things I mentioned is that I should genuinely trust him. Otherwise, why are we even in a relationship. I'll sleep soundly tonight. No overthinking, no worrying. Breathe...

Crash Landing On You
Summary: Technically, though, you did sign up for this - this, being one of the protectors of this city and its people. Getting shot is nothing but your usual workplace hazard. But getting shot at with a fucking rocket launcher to the head by one of Kingpin’s henchmen was new.
It was fucking overkill.
What the fuck.
OR: You're a fledgling heroine who landed in a strange place after almost dying. Doesn't get less strange from there, to be honest.
Set vaguely in the Raimi movie-verse but will have mentions of other characters that weren't present in those movies. Or even the same franchise. || Doc Ock x (f)Reader
//
A/N: a few months ago i saw doc ock on the nwh trailer and uh... this happened. lol. so please enjoy this self-indulgent mess. feedback will be greatly appreciated, heheh. the reader is filipino-coded so buckle up and i hope you like sinigang. but i'll try not to overdo it, lol. Also on AO3
TW: slight gore, body horror, canon-typical violence (maybe even more?? who knows!)
Chapter 1:
I didn’t sign up for this shit!!!!!!!!!!! multiple exclamation points and all, was what was going through your head while you were freefalling.
You would have screamed if you could. Or maybe you had been screaming? You weren’t sure. Any sound you would have made had been swallowed by the wind. It shrieks inside your ears, inside your head, like the wailing of a banshee.
Your necktie is a white mirage that you can barely focus on as it flutters in the air.
Your long hair whips around you.
You don’t know how long you‘ve been falling.
Technically, though, you did sign up for this - this, being one of the protectors of this city and its people. Getting shot at is nothing but your usual workplace hazard. Normally - usually, you could handle being shot.
A bullet or two (or an entire round) to the leg, to the chest? To the head? Why not. Fire away, assholes!
It fuels the satisfaction that surges through your veins when they continue pulling the trigger even though they know they’re empty and you’re still standing. It’s even more fun when you smash their faces in. Nothing too fatal, you’re not a killer, geez -
It’s not like you couldn’t feel it, on the contrary, you could already tell what type of bullet you’ve been hit with depending on how painful it is. But you have a healing factor like nobody’s business - one of the perks of being a capital H- Hero, so you limp back to your apartment just when the sun is about to rise, sleep it off, trudge to your day job, and fight crimes at night.
Wash, rinse, repeat.
But getting shot with a fucking rocket launcher to the head by one of Kingpin’s henchmen was new.
It was fucking overkill.
What the fuck.
You’re lucky that your mask - a magically reinforced porcelain - was able to take the brunt of the impact. While it’s still attached to your face, a good chunk of it was shattered beyond repair, and you really don’t wanna know what your face looks like right now. You’d go as far as guessing that it’s at least mangled, based on how intense the pain is, nothing that won’t completely heal, but it feels like you high-fived a bullet train at full speed with your face.
Going after Kingpin and his men by yourself was a stupid move, and you could do without Spider-Man looking all smug once you see each other again - he’s actually quite expressive, despite the mask! He wouldn’t be mean about it, but you know he’ll be giving you that look from under his mask that’s not so different from when Sr. Rosario would guilt you into confessing why you got into a fight at school for the fifth time that week.
“Don’t go in alone, Skytoucher.” You remember Spider-Man saying from the other line, shortly before your phone call informing him of what you discovered ends. “ I’m almost there. Wait for me, okay?”
But Kingpin’s thugs were about to escape to another state and you didn’t know how almost there your red-and-blue clad friend was, so…
It was pathetic how those lowlife lackeys were able to swat you away like a fly. You barely got a glimpse of the big man himself, dressed in a pristine white suit, his bald head shining with perspiration and his eyes burning like coals as he watched you fall like a puppet whose strings were cut.
Some hero you are.
'Skytoucher In A Suit Saves A Family From Fire!’ was the first official headline that The Daily Bugle had for you, complete with a grainy picture of you in the air, an old lady in your arms. You had on a cheap plastic mask then, like the ninth member of the Jabbawockeez that just got out of a job interview.
Your copy is sealed inside a ziplock bag, buried deep within your closet. You remember being unable to wipe off the stupidly giddy smile on your face that day because come on, while you literally just rushed inside a bodega that has leftover Halloween masks, Skytoucher sounds cool. Of course, the next time your name appears on the paper, you were described as the suited menace - because you were wearing a suit, see? - and the article is basically a 500-word insinuation that you’re secretly in cahoots with the group of robbers you literally just stopped.
Now, though, you weren’t doing much in terms of touching the sky . Your healing factor is most likely on overdrive. Overtime..? Over whatever - The point is, your body is more focused on healing you as fast as it can than keeping you in the air after being shot by - and narrowly avoiding - a fucking rocket launcher. And honestly, even if you were able to fly at the moment, you’re not sure you weren’t gonna crash into some billboard or building because you’re pretty sure you’ve got a concussion.
You weren’t sure how high up you still are, but you could just make out the growing brightness of the city far below with your right eye.
All you can hope for is that you’ll crash somewhere with not a lot of people around.
Damages incurred by New York’s newest hero aren't covered by insurance policies yet, after all.
You're still falling. Miles above you, distant stars twinkle lazily.
Your head hurts.
You allowed the darkness to take over, letting yourself be swallowed back by the city that never sleeps.
\\
The force of what might have been a hundred wrecking balls shook the entirety of the dilapidated, abandoned warehouse that Otto Octavius now calls home.
Perhaps someone figured out that the old abandoned warehouse is where the Octopus has been hiding. Maybe it was someone he’d hurt in the past, and they found him and decided to settle the score. It was something that he’d been expecting, hell, he’d been more or less waiting for any form of retribution, ever since Spider-Man - the memory of him almost squishing Parker’s head like a watermelon made him wince - was able to barely fish him out of the river.
Or it could very well be a new masked individual on the playground, someone who might have figured out that the old Octopus isn’t dead after all and would like to prove their worth by killing him.
He walked to where the commotion was, slowly, silently, keeping as far into the darkness as he can; jaw clenched and actuators hidden but poised to strike if (when?) necessary.
The roof of the corner of the warehouse that he reworked as a kitchen/workstation has collapsed into a pile of rubble, broken concrete, and splintered wood. He didn’t know what he expected, honestly, as he glanced around the wreckage for a sign of… anything. Demolition machinery. The Green Goblin on his hoverboard, bone-chilling laughter included. A squadron of NYPD, ready to bring him to jail. A crater caused by a meteorite.
But aside from the hole in his roof, the place was empty and quiet. No hollow cavity on the ground.
He finds nothing until a strange movement above him catches his eye, and he looks up, preparing for the worst.
A good few meters above him, he sees a pair of legs, clad in dark pantsuit, dangling from the edge of the hole.
What the hell…
Was a dead body disposed of on the roof of his warehouse? It doesn’t make sense. The crash was way too loud for the conclusion to be that simple. Unless… unless it came from a much higher location?
Otto almost jumped when the legs began twitching. He stared in disbelief, wondering if he’s witnessing some sort of cadaveric spasm, and it took him a second too long to realize that whoever this person is, they’re still alive - it’s not post-death spasms because the movement carried on far too long for it to be the remaining flecks of someone’s life.
And they’re actively trying to shimmy down the hole.
They were probably trying to find somewhere they could slot their feet into, legs pinwheeling in the empty air, but there was nothing - they were a good three meters in the air, for heaven’s sake! - and they were moving too quickly. Enough for them to lose what little balance they have.
Faster than his brain was able to catch up with his body, Otto had lunged forward, his human arms raised as the person on his roof crashed down on him, lower actuators anchoring themselves into the floor just in time to support both him and his unexpected guest.
He looks at the person in his arms and sees the familiar blank porcelain on their face and he takes in a breath because -
It’s you -
Another pest that bothered him while Spider-Man went on a brief awol.
Sky… something. Skyhunter ? He remembers you cornering him in a skyscraper in Manhattan, and to get away from you, he’d wrapped an actuator around your leg before hurling you against the window, only for you to stay afloat, a hand on your waist and your head cocked sideways as if saying, “I can fly, stupid.” A flash of phantom pain from the kick you gave his jaw as payback flares up along with the memory.
Another time, you had caught him in one of his… darker moods. Shame and regret twist his gut as he remembers one of his actuators impaling your stomach. You looked down on your wound, and he could imagine a look of shock? fear? behind your mask. Only, you look back up at him, white porcelain impassive as always, before saying, “At least buy me dinner first before penetrating me, you fucking prick.”
Looking back, he could have reacted better, but in the heat of the moment, he responded by pulling off the heavy steel vault door and casting it in your direction. You dodged it by somersaulting backward. He barely escaped the bank, the broken nose he sustained and the almost severed lower-left actuator had nothing to do anything with the unease that lingered in his mind. He felt his actuator go through you, he remembers seeing your bloodstain the white marble floors of the bank when he pulled out his limb…and you mouth off on him a few seconds later like it was nothing, whereas the bank's security guards that received the same treatment lay dead.
A groan escapes from under your mask, and it brings him back to the present. He always knew you were on the shorter side, barely reaching his shoulders and he’s made fun of your height more than once or twice during your skirmishes, but right now, it's like he’s holding a broken doll in his arms. Something like pity stirs up inside him.
Your mask dissolves into nothingness with a faint hiss and an even fainter violet glow. The scientist in him was curious - how were you able to do that? Was it a hologram of sorts? That might explain the glow. But it did not look like a hologram - and from all of his encounters with you, he's pretty sure he'd smash your mask more times than he could count and he knows it’s solid.
Another groan, a little louder this time. Flo peaks over his shoulder as he checked for any injury, and the image feed that was projected to his head almost made him drop you -
“Christ!” He blurts out, adjusting his grip on you to make sure you don’t get any more injured as you are now.
While half of your face is unscathed, the other side could only be described as nothing more than a mass of torn, gory skin and a partially exposed skull - and an equally dark, circular mass where your left eyeball should be.
Just what in the world happened to you?
And then you stir, your eye fluttering open and Otto Octavius was now a hundred percent sure that the remaining vestiges of his sanity finally snapped because you were gazing up at him with an eye as black as midnight.
“I’m fine, I’m fine, - I’m…whereammi?” You slurred, pulling yourself upwards, craning your head as much as you could to take a look at your surroundings. It must have been too dark for you to see anything. You slump your head into the crook of his arm, gazing up at him with a void-like eye. “Wazzat on your shoulder?”
A pause, and then -
Flo clicks behind him.
“That’s a tentacle, right?” You asked. “Wait - Doctor Octopus?”
“It’s Octavius.” He released a heavy sigh. “And it’s called an actuator, Skyhunter.”
“Skytoucher .”
“Skytoucher, of course. My apologies.”
“You’re supposed to be dead - wait, wait, wait, this suuuucks … a-am I dead?”
“You’re not dead. I think.”
“Oh. That’s... yeah. Okay. Cool,” You said, nodding to yourself. “Wait - you think ?”
“You landed here, Skytoucher. In my house. I’m not sure exactly where you fell from, though.”
“I got shot out of a helicopter. Did I break something?”
Did you just say… helicopter? He didn’t know if you were aware of the extent of your injury. Instead, Otto shifts a little, still carrying you in his arms as he turns the both of you to where you landed.
He feels you wince below him. “Sorry I broke your… house, Doc. I can help fix it if you want,”
“You don’t have to, it’s -”
“Did you catch me?” You interrupt.
“What?”
“You said - you said I fell. I… remember falling. Did you catch me?”
For all of his brains, Otto has no idea where this conversation is headed. “Not exactly, but you could say that I suppose. Do you think you can stand?”
“Uh, yeah. Sure.”
He sets you down gently, slightly uncomfortable with how close the injured side of your face is to his, but he hovers nearby to make sure you stay on your feet.
“Spider-Man says you died. In the river.” You said quietly. “Does he know you’re…”
“He does. He’s the one that pulled me out of the water.”
“Right,” You scratch the back of your head, feeling the awkwardness settle between the two of you. “Sorry, are - you’re like, not gonna hit me with a car or something, right?”
He frowns. “Why would I do that?”
“I just… it was your thing before? And I uh… discovered your hideout so… I just wanna know if you’ll do something because I’m honestly kinda fucked up right now? So if you just, not do that? Hit me with a car, I mean?”
He snorts. “Like you need more damage to your face?”
“Ha?” You asked sharply. The shadows of his dark warehouse didn’t help make you look less unsettling. “A-anong … damage? What damage?”
“I think it’s best for you to see for yourself, Skytoucher. There’s a bathroom down the hall. Second door to the right.”
Your face hardens as a humorless laugh escapes you. “You think I’m dumb enough to fall for another trap? I almost got my head blown off by Kingpin and I conveniently land here? With you? When you’re supposed to be dead? Spider-Man wouldn’t lie. Have you been working for Kingpin? He tells you to finish me off? Another rocket launcher-holding bastard is waiting for me behind door number four, is that it?”
“Work for? No, I don’t! Why would I work for - ” Otto felt his temper rising at your question. Work for? He can already tell a headache is forming, and the chittering of his actuators certainly doesn’t help. He takes a deep breath, pressing the bridge of his nose, holding it in for a few seconds before exhaling. “I’ve been hiding here for the past two years, Skygirl . I am not working for anybody. Definitely not for that crook. And if you must know, your skull is out. Kingpin got you real good, didn’t he?”
It was almost comical, the way your eye widened as you bleat, “W-what?”
“I said -”
“No, shut up, I heard you!” You cried, a hand now gingerly tracing the side of your injured face. Upon feeling your soft, tender muscles, your features twisted into a grimace. Otto wasn’t doing much better. “ Eeeew, is this my bone? Doc, you gotta tell me, is it bad - No duh, of course, it’s bad! I know it’s bad! Why wouldn’t it be bad? I mean - heh - I literally got shot in the face with a rocket launcher!”
“A what?” He interrupts.
“Rocket launcher! One of Kingpin’s goons shot me because I was chasing them!”
“I thought you could fly?”
“I can fly! Weren't you listening? I got shot, Doc! They were on a helicopter! And I was flying after them! It wouldn’t have mattered if it was a normal gun! But it was a rocket launcher, Doc! Like, what the fuck!”
Well. That answers where you came from.
But you were hyperventilating, hands combing through your long hair as you started breathing rapidly, mumbling in a foreign language he can’t understand. Hesitantly, he puts a hand on your shoulder to get your attention. “Skygirl, I need you to calm down, can you do that for me?”
You keep mumbling under your breath, not looking at him.
“Skygirl, look at me,” He tries again, actuators snaking to your sides before they lift you a couple of feet off the ground and giving you a gentle shake. As much as he didn’t want to touch others with his actuators, it was effective enough for you to look at him. "Skygirl, are you listening?”
“I - I am,” Your tongue peeks out to wet your lips, but the sight is made gorier because he can see inside your mouth from your open wound. For the first time, he’s lucky that he skipped out on dinner. “I’m listening.”
“Good. You’re fine. I know you can heal, do you feel yourself healing?”
You nod meekly.
"Do you need anything for uh, something you help with your -” He gestures to his face.
You shook your head.
“Do you want to use the bathroom?”
“Please.”
He sets you down before answering, “Second door to the right.” He even jerked a thumb over his back for good measure. He watched as you limped to the direction he pointed you at, worried that you might collapse. Or attack him. He'd really, rather not hurt you.
You made it to the bathroom without further incident, and he waited for the soft click of the lock before walking to his study, trying to remember where he hid the hastily scrawled phone number Spider-Man left him in case of emergencies.

Soup of the Day
Fandom: Marvel
Pairing: Bucky Barnes x Filipina!Reader
Special request by @tom-hlover : Bucky x Filipina reader who is new to the country and a new lab assistant and is quite the workaholic.when time came almost everyone was at the mission when reader became sick and tried to cook for herself though she cant even properly stand up,when Bucky found her,
A/N: I mention the Agents of Atlas and Pearl/Wave aka the Filipina superhero. If you don’t know who they are, I highly suggest to read up on them because they’re awesome.
Tumblr media
When you were personally recruited to the Avengers in America, you couldn’t believe it. You were so excited, but you were also conflicted. You confided with Pearl about your situation and she replied with “Ikaw gaga?! You’re going! This is a great opportunity!”
She was right, it was a great opportunity. So, unfortunately, you had to say goodbye to Pearl, to the Agents of Atlas, to your family, your friends, your homeland.
Coming to America, it was a bittersweet feeling. You spent your first few months adapting to the environment and the people. Sam, being that he was Captain America, took it upon himself to help you with the transition as much as he can. But while he was away on missions, Bucky took his place.
Being that you were working in the lab, you saw him often to check on his arm. While checking the wiring and updates, you two would chat. Bucky would share some of his mission stories, and you would share your stories about your work with Pearl and the Atlas team. You couldn’t see it, but Bucky would always find himself smiling whenever you talked about the Philippines and your life there. He could see how much you loved your job, your people, and your work. But he could also see the sadness, how the distance was taking a toll on you.
So he always did the best he could to bring a smile to your face, to cheer you up, and because he loved it when you smiled.
Also, because you were new to the team, you felt like you had to prove yourself. Working long hours, longer than required, just to prove you deserve to be there and to stay with them. But it seems like these longs hours were taking a toll on you because when you woke up this morning, you felt terrible.
You slowly put your work clothes on, dragging yourself into work. You were there for less than an hour when Bruce finally took a good look at you and saw how sickly you look.
“Y/N, I think you should take today off.”
You swayed as you turned to Bruce’s green hulking figure, “I’m fine. Promise.”
He grabs you by the shoulders to steady you, “You’re clearly not. Take today off. Rest. Take some medicine, eat some soup. You’re not working today.”
“But-”
“Nope.”
You sigh, rubbing your sweaty head with your clammy hand, “Okay.” you take your things and head back up to your room.
You weren’t sleepy, and you didn’t feel too dizzy anymore, so you decided to make yourself some soup, specifically sinigang. You recall your lola making it for you whenever you were sick or even if you were feeling down. It was your comfort food.
You take out the ingredients one by one, setting them onto the counter. You chop up the beef, onions, and tomatoes. Afterwards, you toss them into the pot with some oil to brown and saute.
As you stand before the stove, moving the ingredients around, you start feeling dizzy again. You try holding onto the counter for balance, but it doesn’t work. Soon enough, you feel yourself falling and you’re waiting to meet the floor, but it doesn’t come.
“Y/N, are you okay?!”
You look up and see a blurry version of a familiar blue-eyes super soldier, “Bucky?” you murmur, trying to focus your eyes, but it isn’t working.
Bucky pulls you up, wrapping his metal arm around you to keep you from falling. With his free hand, he feels your head with the back of his hand, “Geez, sweetheart, you’re burnin’ up. Bruce told me you weren’t feeling well. I came to check up on ya. Good thing I did. You nearly bashed your head into the counter.”
“I’m....I’m..ffffine. Just need.....sin-sin-soup,” you point to the pot that’s sizzling with meat and veggies inside.
Bucky shakes his head, “You’re not cooking in your state. That’s a definite safety hazard. I’m taking you to bed and I’ll finish cooking the soup for you.”
“Bucky, no-”
“Bucky, yes. You need to rest, Y/N or you’ll get even worse.” As if you weighed nothing, he scoops you up and brings you to your room. Using his foot, he opens the door, and pushes it open. Then he places you onto your bed, pulling back the covers and helping you under them.
As soon as he pulls the blanket over you, you sigh. Your eyes flutter shut and your head luls to the side. You’re out like a light and Bucky quietly chuckles to himself.
He stands there, watching you sleep for a little bit, but then he remembers the food. He quickly and quietly rushes out of your room, leaving the door ajar in case you call for him, and head to the kitchen.
He lowers the heat and looks inside the pot to find some browned beef, translucent white onions, and tomatoes. He’s not exactly sure what kind of soup you were making.
“Uh, FRIDAY, what exactly was Y/N trying to make?”
“Miss L/N was in the process of making sinigang, a traditional soup that originates from the Philippines.”
“Right. Uuuuhhh, do you mind if you could assist me in making this?”
“Not at all, Agent Barnes.”

When you wake up, you’re a little bit groggy. Your body feels a little heavy, but at least your head isn’t spinning anymore. You look at your window and still see sunlight peeking from the blind. You turn to your bedside and see that it’s half past noon. You were asleep for nearly five hours.
“How’re you feeling?”
“AYE!” you scream in fright and turn to the other side of your bed to see Bucky sitting in a chair, with a book in hand, “How long have you been there?”
He chuckles, setting his book onto your bedside, “Since you fell asleep. Well, a little less than that since I went to go finish making your, uh, sinigong?”
You giggle at his pronunciation, “Sinigang. But good try.”
“Hey, I don’t make fun of you when you attempt Russian.”
“Yes, you do!” both of you it there, chuckling with each other. A silence falls upon both of you, but it’s not awkward. It’s comforting.
But you still clear your throat and break the silence, “So, you made the soup. How’d that go?”
“Uh, alright, I guess? FRIDAY helped me out. Also, I honestly didn’t even know tamarind was a thing until now?”
You nod, “Yeah, that’s what makes the sinigang sour.”
“Um, are you hungry? I brought some to you earlier, but you were still asleep. I could get you some?”
“I could get it my-”
“No no, you stay in bed. By order of Doctor Banner.”
“He came by?” you gave him a confused look.
Bucky nodded, “Yeah. You were out of it, so I’m not surprised you don’t remember. Also, you’re not working for the next two weeks.”
“WHAT?!” You shoot up from the bed, “But-”
“I’ll tell you why in a sec, okay? I’m gonna get you some soup and a glass of water. Okay? Stay right there! Don’t move!”
You roll your eyes and lay back down, “Whatever you say, tay.”
“Don’t know what tay is, but okay.” he shoots you a wink and exits the room. You lay there giggling to yourself like a school girl who has a big crush. Well, to be fair, you do have a big crush on Bucky.
Minutes later, Bucky comes back with a steaming bowl and a large glass of water. He sits beside you and offering you a spoonful. You look at him with a glare and he rolls his eyes, “Humor me.”
You sigh and accept the spoonful of soup. You feel your throat warm up from it and you smack your lips together, “It’s good!”
He snorts, “Don’t sound so surprised.”
You place a hand on his thigh and gave him a grateful smile, “Thank you, Bucky, for making the soup and taking care of me.”
“Anything for you, sweetheart. Just-Just easy on the workload from now on, okay? Bruce says you’ve been working so much that that’s probably what got you sick.”
“Well, maybe I’ll keep getting sick so you can take care of me,” you playfully bat your eyes at him and he laughs.
“I’ll do anything you want, doll. Don’t gotta get sick for it.”
You giggle and pat his leg, “Okay. Deal,” and then accept another spoonful of sinigang from Bucky.
tagging: @buckybarnesthehotshot cause you know why.
A/N: also, this may be controversial but....i use spam in my sinigang....

•#Lifestyle #Food #QuarantineEdition•
I am not into cooking but. . . that's one thing I learned during quarantine. At first, frying different dishes such as frying eggs, fish, chicken and pork is all I know; I am struggling to cook foods in another level. So, the story goes like this:
When the pandemic begun, our family have no differ to others being on each other side staying at home as what we need to do as a contribution in helping others not to spread the virus. Me, being at home with my sisters often, has a rollercoaster ride. Misunderstanding, arguments, fighting and many more happened inside our house. For me, that is all normal. Fast forward. . . Doing household chores is a much needed duty in our house. Setting cups of rice in the rice cooker, washing plates and cooking are the main duties we must accomplish everyday not to mention the other household chores in your mind that the family members should do. My sisters decided to make a schedule for daily home task. I, that has a fear in doing the least that I can do in our house which is cooking, started a discussion and ended to a little fight with them. Flash forward. . . I tried cooking for lunch and dinner. At first, it doesn't turned out as good as my youngest sibling recipe but whenever I choose to make a dish and I heard critics whether it's a compliment or not, it somewhat push me to keep learning and trying to challenge myself because truly that's the beginning of discovering new skills we have and it looks like, that skill was just sleeping for a long time. Also, this social media app is such a helping tool for us beginners to know the easiest recipe and step-by-step process on how to make it and that application is. . .youtube.
Today, I can cook ginataang gulay, my favorites: chicken and pork adobo and sinigang, pininyahang manok, tinola, sarsciadong tilapia, ginisang munggo and more.
These are my take away realizations:
1. POSITIVITY MUST BE GREATER THAN NEGATIVITY
We are fully aware that COVID-19 Pandemic is a huge problem happening to us right now. Slowly, it changes people's lives. We missed a lot of usual things we do especially things outdoor. It really brought negativity to anyone in all aspect of life. But, if we let negativity dwell in our system, we're gonna lose in this fight. It seemed no hope but remind yourself to always see good in any season. In my case, staying at home during quarantine gave me a chance to discover new skills and cooking is one of it. It might never be the same to others but in this season, positivity must be greater than negativity.
2. FEAR LIMITS YOUR CAPABILITY
Life without challenges is a life without a sense. Challenges made our story extraordinary. It might brought a painful start and unpredictable destination but the journey will always be a magical experience full of learnings and realizations. It might feel scary trying to do the things we thought we can't but the first try wouldn't define the capability we might discover along the process. Our fears will only limit our capabilities if we let them.
3. KEEP LEARNING
Learning is a decision. We can learn from anyone and anything. We should be reminded that not everything we need to know will be feed on us. It is exciting to discover things on our own. Just like what I did whenever I struggle to think of a dish for our lunch or dinner, I will visit youtube app to help me. Same goes to you, don't wait for a timing to learn new things. Keep feeding your mind. Keep learning.
I challenge you to think of one over hundreds of learnings you've got during quarantine and. . . Reflect.

I Played Every Food Game in the Indie Bundle for Palestinian Aid
Tumblr media
In light of increased violence by the Israeli military against Palestinian civilians, several game developers have to come together to create the Indie Bundle for Palestinian Aid.  And with over 1,000 games (available at https://itch.io/b/902/indie-bundle-for-palestinian-aid until Friday for just $5, of which all profits go towards the United Nations Relief and Works Agency), it’s no surprise that there would be a handful of food-related games.  So let’s take a look at them.
I did, however, omit a few.  There were a couple of food-related text-based RPGs, which is ultimately not a medium that I’m familiar enough with to feel like I could talk about and do it justice (and also most of them required at least 2 players).  “Breakfast Cult,” ended up being more about cult stuff than breakfast stuff, which was disappointing (for the purposes of this, anyway). A couple, upon extracting the .zip files, seemed to be files of all Unity assets and no actual game, and eventually I kinda stopped caring.  Sorry if I missed any otherwise, I did my best to gleam through the over 1,000 titles in this bundle.
Ace Baker
Tumblr media
You’re presented with a list of ingredients with names that don’t resemble any food known to man, and it’s up to you to throw things together in combinations that will result in something that resembles a baked good before your partner comes home from work.  There are icons next to each item, which vaguely suggest what it is, but the whole point is to sort of work it out yourself.  I was just barely able to get a Perfect Cake before running out of ingredients, after countless Acceptable and Dubious attempts.
The UI was simple but effective, and I was almost a little sad that the list of fake applications off to the side couldn’t actually be accessed. Most of the dialogue (which is very slim, and basically bookends the game) with your partner, Nora, would be clunky if it wasn’t so tongue-in-cheek about how Cyberpunk-y it’s trying to be.  The repeated use of “shiny” immediately brings to mind that one Spongebob episode where everything in the future is chrome.  The fact that the player character and their partner are both asexual (yes, that kind of “Ace” Baker) doesn’t seem to have much to do with anything at first, but it’s worth mentioning that this game was originally developed for an asexual game jam, so think of it as a game that started off as being about an asexual person and then they added the baking afterwards, rather than the other way around (And even then, who cares? If you’ve got something against asexual people, get outta here.)
My only real critique is that after a while, the music loop stopped, forcing me to sit in silence as I studied my baking grimoire. But again, this was a little game hashed together for a game jam, that, if for some reason you didn’t want to get the bundle, is actually free on itch.io, so can you really complain?
Hot Pot Panic
Tumblr media
What a classic conundrum: you’re at a hot pot restaurant with a friend, and, despite being all-you-can-eat, you have to control your appetite to avoid weirding out your friend.  There’s basically two mechanics you need to keep track of: cooking the food in the hot pot, and managing the conversation with your friend.  You click on the raw ingredients to put them in the pot, then wait until the sprites turn a golden hue and you start to hear a sizzling audio cue to eat them.  Meanwhile, you have to make small talk with your friend, and pay just enough attention to be able to choose the correct multiple choice response to any question or open-ended statement she ends her side of the conversation with.  But you have to be careful not to burn your food, however, because that won’t count towards filling your stomach, which you have to do before you run out of conversation topics.  The whole thing is a delicate balancing act.  I have to admit I failed at first because for some reason it didn’t dawn on me that you could cook more than one thing at a time?
The pixel art sprite work works very well; the foods are instantly recognizable and I could really  feel the judging glare coming from behind the friend’s thick glasses.  The background music perfectly matches the atmosphere, and, as already mentioned, other sound design elements like the sizzling cues from perfectly cooked meat prove to be vital to juggling the different elements of gameplay.  All in all, a neat little game that perfectly encompasses the feeling of anxiety that comes with wanting to not embarrass yourself in public when all you really want to do is eat.
Putahe ng Ina Mo: Sinigang Edition
Tumblr media
Ok, I’m gonna try to be nice to this one.  On one hand, I love the aesthetic it’s got going on.  Upon opening the game, you can tell from the background music, which I can only describe as “whimsical mad scientist,” as well as a stream of emojis flying past, that this game is supposed to be very goofy.  Unlike other games on this list which were more point-and-click, the ingredients for your sinigang (a Filipino tamarind stew) can be picked up and thrown about as you wish.  The fact that the art style is very realistic makes this that much funnier.
However, upon opening, the window forces a specific resolution that just would not work with my monitor.  This may seem like a minor problem, as I was still more-or-less able to access all the ingredients, but imagine the mental state I was in: I’m already confused, and then the second I clamp the lid on the pot, everything goes up in smoke!  How the fuck did I burn water? I ended up also watching a playthrough on YouTube, and they also, no matter what, burned the sinigang.   Considering the name of the game translates roughly to “Your Mother’s Cooking,” maybe the idea is that no matter what, you’re never going to make it as well as mom.  Or, considering my mom’s cooking, maybe it’s the opposite of that.
A weird, goofy little game that just didn’t seem to like my computer.
Sangwish
Tumblr media
This is 100% in the vein of all those weird 2010s “[Mundane Thing] Simulator” games that were all the rage for a while.  No instructions, no objectives, just a pile of food for you to play with.  My immediate reaction was, for some reason, to grill the mysterious meat slices, but it turns out the stove there is just set dressing.  Giving up on such pointless gourmand pretenses, I decided to just make the biggest sandwich I could.  Eventually, there was so much on the sandwich that the bottom slice of bread started vibrating slightly, because physics.  Then I tried to put my knife in the sandwich, but the vibrations knocked it to the floor, never to be seen again.   Then I decided to throw all of my bread and most of the ingredients on the floor, never to be seen again.  Here is my end sandwich.
Tumblr media
Easily one of the sandwich simulators I’ve played all day.
Terroir
Tumblr media
Much like a wine with a good terroir, this is by far the most complex game on this list (muffled snooty wine snob chuckles in the distance).  The end goal is clear: grow grapes, make wine.  But, as you can imagine, you are completely at the mercy of the elements.  The ideal time to harvest your grapes is when they are at a ripeness of 4-6 out of 10.  However, the randomly-generated months gave me month after month of cloudy and rainy weather, not allowing my grapes to get the sunlight they needed to get their ripeness above a 1.  The only time my grapes ever hit a 6 was out of harvesting season, and by the time I was allowed to harvest, they had somehow dropped back down to a 1.  And as you can imagine, a bunch of 1-star grapes will only make 1-star wine.  The fact that I almost immediately got root rot didn’t help any, either.  And because I tried to expand too quickly, buying an extra plot of land when I couldn’t even afford the grapes to grow there, I was thousands of dollars in the red within 3 years.
Is that a dig against the game? No. It’s frustrating, but in that way that games with a learning curve often are. The tile-based design is pleasant to look at, although much of the UI can be a little confusing to look at at first.  And, of course, most of the “gameplay” is sitting and waiting for the wine critics to tell you what a bad job you did.  Some of the few management choices you can make seem to not have much of an impact (my first wine wasn’t acidic enough, so I added pressed juice to my second batch that brought the acidity up to a 9, but then the mere act of bottling the wine brought the acidity down to a 4 somehow).  It’s an interesting concept for a game that I assume I’m just not getting, but might give another chance at some point in the future.

what is the weather going to be like where you live tomorrow? Ugh. Probably disappointingly hot and humid again.
2. what accent do you have? is it heavy? When I speak English I’m able to with a general American accent because of my education (and colonization, lol ANYWAY) but it’ll still be obvious that it’s not my first language if I go to like the States, because it still has a Filipino element to it. Like for instance I don’t pronounce ‘water’ as ‘wudder’ or ‘wahr’ as I hear most English-speaking people do lolol because doing that when you primarily speak Filipino just sounds phoney. I prefer pronouncing the hard t’s. I don’t like saying I have a Filipino accent either because it’s been stereotyped and mocked so many times in TikToks and other videos, and it’s not how I (and most people my age) speak at all.
3. who lives in your house and what are they doing right now? My immediate family. Nina’s on her laptop presumably working; mom’s making breakfast; dad is watching TV; I couldn’t care less what my brother is doing; and the dogs are napping.
4. is there anything on your mind? Nothing but careers and jobs have been on my mind.
5. what is your favorite accessory? Thin and simple silver necklaces and bracelets. And hoop earrings.
6. what is your favorite genre of music? Indie folk, when it comes down to it. I don’t have a favorite artist or album; I just find the sound most pleasant to listen to.
7. does your best friend live near you? I have to drive to get to their houses but they don’t live dramatically far.
8. When is the last time you fed your pet? What did you feed them? We gave Kimi a portion of the sinigang and kare-kare that we had for dinner. Cooper’s on dog food for now, but I’m thinking if he’ll end up being tired of it like what happened with Kimi – then again Kimi’s an aspin and he was bound to get sick of dog food and prefer human food anyway. I just don’t know if Cooper will be the same. I’ll have to ask my friends who have beagles.
9. what is the last place you kissed someone, if ever? My car.
10. how do you like to express yourself? Comfortably, and with no pressure from anyone. I know I’m supposed to answer this question in a certain way, but I just find it too broad and vague.
11. whose birthday is coming up? Macy’s birthday is today, but Facebook tells me that the nearest birthdays from today are of this girl I used to ride the school bus with and I thinkkkk is now a teacher; and another girl who is in our rival org that I didn’t like at first because she’d always take jabs at my org, but turned out to be a sweetheart when I got to talk with her. I still don’t know if she’s being genuine, but whatever.
12. what song did you last listen to? Something from my driving playlist.
13. do you have a crush on anyone? Yes.
14. what do your favorite pair of shoes look like? White with blue and red stripes.
15. do you own a lot of things in your favorite colors? Yeah my wallet, notebook, pencil case, a couple of my highlighters, a keyboard protector, and a shoulder bag.
16. do you curse a lot? Not so much anymore but I’ll let my tongue loose when I’m with friends who are fine with potty mouths.
17. what city do you live in? what’s the population? I live in a city east to Manila with a population of a little less than 780,000.
18. what time are you going to sleep tonight? Not sure. I took a nap this afternoon so I might sleep a little late, maybe around midnight or at 1ish.
19. what’s your favorite dessert? Macarons, cupcakes, or cheesecake.
20. did you have a role model growing up? No.
21. who is the last person you hugged for a long time? My girlfriend.
22. is there anyone on your mind? My cousin Lei, only because she had asked us to film a short video greeting my paternal grandma a happy birthday and we haven’t started on it yet, oops.
23. what is your perfect meal? The person who took this before me said green curry and now I wanna say curry in general... but I also love nasi goreng with satay. That gets an automatic order from me once I see it on any menu.
24. what are your top five favorite cities? The top 5 that I would love to visit are Bangkok, Chicago, New York City, Istanbul, and Seoul.
25. how did your parents pick your name? They encountered the singer with the same name on TV and decided that they liked the name. My mom simply liked the name Isabelle, so that became my second name.
26. do you want to move out? Yes, but I want it to come from my own pocket. I have friends living in condos for university all fully-funded by their parents for four years and eugh, it just made my eyes roll whenever it got mentioned.
27. what are some things you always have on you? Except when I’m at home, I always have my phone, wallet, car and house keys, and glasses with me.
28. have you taken the sat yet? what’d you get on it? We don’t have that here. Each university/college has their own entrance exam that interested applicants have to take; we don’t have one standardized test that admissions people have to look at. In my case I took three (UPCAT, ACET, USTET) and I passed them all, and I remember doing fairly well on the third. I didn’t bother checking my results for the first two since those are the toughest entrance tests we have anyway and it was enough to pass lol.
29. do you work-out on your free time? Nope.
30. anything you want to get off your chest? Not really.

Blog #07
February 17, 2020
Today, I had my PLMAT exam. My mom accompanied me for the day and we wandered around Intramuros again! I love you mama, (nag-absent pa siya para samahan ako yirrr)
Tumblr media
Honestly, I'm not confident with my answers because I did not review for that, my mom told me the night before my exam "Huwag ka na magreview, magdasal ka na lang," and of course I agreed!😂 I just enjoyed answering them all and prayed that the test results will be good, char. Nevertheless, I'm still rooting for myself hehe!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
On our way home, we had a hard time deciding whether we eat in a fast-food or just directly go home and rest, and so we end up going home. You ever tried Sinigang na Salmon for lunch? Definitely the best! After lunch, I texted my friends because we have an appointment, kidding! We planned about attending mass at Greenbelt, but sadly, three of them failed to come. But still, shing, my friend, spent the rest of the day with me.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
On usual days, I'd go to school, come back home and wait the night to cover the skies then sleep and do it again the next day. But today, I must say I really enjoyed being out from home! Maybe because I reunited with one of my closest friend and talked about a lot of super interesting stuffs!
After staying at the chapel for half an hour, we decided to walk around the busy streets. I watched people hang different shopping bags on their arm and look through their phones, some are with their families, some were with their loved ones and friends. If there's one thing I can say that all of them have in common, it's their happy smiles. These people are happy and so am I so am I so am I🎶 hehe 'di mo nakanta ano.
Today, I talked to Him. And what I always like about it is that it never failed to lighten my heart. Today, I am thankful for a lot of things, I got to be outside the house for like a day, my dad let me sleep after coming home from church and I woke up six at night without hearing any bombarded wisdom of words usually when I let myself sleep for a long time, I had eaten good foods since breakfast up to dinner, I got to talk and meet with the person I missed, and recently I found out a very good song! ❤️ Aside from these things, I created new memories today and I'm really grateful I got to see my friend, eat Bibimbob together and had our tummy's full! See you some other time, paotsin. 👀
To shing,
Not to mention all the stories we shared a while ago, I'm thankful to see you today. I hope you keep being brave and strong in life, you're grown up and have changed - a LOT. While talking to you, there were lot of times I got amazed and thought if I really was talking to "shingly"! But anyway, I'm happy you got to be exposed with these things and know that you learn from people. I may not always say this but I'm proud of you. Love you and your stories, goodluck graduating girl! You got me always 'kay, remember that.
Hay, thank you Lord, goodnight!

what is everyone's favorite color and favorite food?
Tumblr media
Anitan Tabu: Hmm, let’s go in order, shall we? I’ve laid it out here plainly. Be lucky I didn’t have a riddle for you today~
Tala likes alimasag and the color orange. Oh, she says she also likes humba, aligue pasta, sugpo… Well, she likes to eat. You get the idea.
Mayari likes Bicol express and the color white. L-let’s… not talk about her.
Oryol likes chocolate and the color velvet. Befitting a love goddess, I suppose.
Lidagat likes sinigang and the color dark blue. Why would she like something that sour?
Lihangin likes burgers and the color light blue. I suppose when you’re always on the go (and don’t have any hands) burgers are the best way to go.
Mariang Makiling likes… Hmm, was she there when it was invented? I jest. She likes sampaloc candies and the color ochre.
Anitan Tabu: Hmm. Ha ha ha.
As for me personally, you’ll just have to guess~ I don’t think my favorite food would be appropriate to mention on this platform. I do like the color black, but that’s the Bakunawa’s color, so I’ll have to settle for very, very dark gray.
Mapulon likes sisig. Comfort food, I can agree. Oh, and he likes the color pink.
Ikapati prefers sinangag over all types of rice. Rice and harvest is her domain, after all. She says it not only tastes good, but is practical since it takes yesterday’s rice and makes it into something to look forward to at breakfast. Mortals are so quaint. Anyway, she likes the color gold.
Mariang Sinukuan likes… well, does she even eat anything? She’s always holed up in her library. What, Lihangin? ‘Knowledge’? That’s not even a food. Whatever. Sinukuan likes the color red.
Mariang Kakaw likes kapeng barako on rice! How odd. Apparently, it’s a practice in the Batangas province. In any case, she predictably likes the color brown.
Magwayen… oh dear. (shudders) Ah, it says here in my record that she likes… puto? Apparently. You’d think a death goddess would be a little more intimidating in terms of food preference. But, I digress. She also likes the color olive.

Where did the time go (during the summer I spent with you)?
Steve Harrington X OC
Tumblr media
Hey this is my first story I'm writing about my favourite boi Steve Harrington. I hope you guys enjoy it😍😍
Also shout out to the story Time Flies By by @harringtown for inspiring me to write this fic. She's really amazing so please check out her other fics
This happens a year after season 3, so Steve is now 20.
Steve Harrington AU in which Steve is dragged into 2019. With him here in the new modern world, going back to 1986 just might be possible. Time travel, new friends, old friends, with so much at hand, love shouldn’t be on the table. But life doesn’t always go as planned.
Chapter 1:  A Normal day with a side of concussion please
I came to visit my aunt’s place in Hawkins to house-sit for her over the summer break. Of course, this wasn’t my ideal summer plans (those included going to beaches and seeing my friends) but I knew that Auntie Maria needed someone to watch over the adorable pitbull Nico. I haven’t seen his dopey face in forever and I miss that fur ball. Walking up to the door, I barely had the chance to knock on the door before it busted open and Auntie Maria’s hand reached out and dragged me inside, pulling me into a hug.
“Oh thank god you’re here!” Her hair was a mess, eyes crinkling in happiness, her clothes slightly sloppy as she smiled at me. “God, it’s been forever since I last saw you! And I know who also missed you.” I hear the dog tags before I see the grey fur. Nico comes rushing and jumps on me, making me fall to the floor in a mountain of his kisses. A giggle pours out of me as I try to get up without Nico trying to jump on me again.
“Hey Auntie Maria, hi Nico. How’s my good boy? Did you miss me? Did ya? Did ya? I missed you!” His tail kept wagging a mile a minute as I pet his belly. Auntie Maria laughed at the both of us while pulling out her Polaroid, snapping a picture before I could protest.
“Awww just look at you two. So cute. Ahhh I wish I didn’t have to go so I can spend time with you both but you know? Work is work. Hey where’s your friend? I thought you guys would come together?” I finally stand up and look back at her.
“Nah, Saint said they’ll be here in a week or two. They got stuck with a project but they said they’ll head over after its done.” She nods absently while petting Nico.
“Alright, well at least you won’t be alone with Nico the whole summer. Oh, and if you need help or anything Joy said she’d be happy to lend a hand on anything okay?” I smiled hearing Joy’s name. That lovely little Filipino lady was one of best highlights of this place, besides my aunt and dog of course.
“Oh I like Joy, she makes the absolute BEST food. Her sinigang* is to DIE for and UGHHH I just love her.” She laughs as she grabs her phone.
“Yea she’s the best neighbor I could ever ask. Make sure to say hi to her when you see her and hey, maybe you could even help her out with gardening and stuff. Her son isn’t coming over this summer because of his job so it’s just her and Marcus.”
______________________________________________________________
Auntie Maria didn’t really have a lot of time to talk but she did mention that she stocked the house with food for a month or two and that I could use anything in the house as long as I didn’t use her weed (this is one of the reasons why I love Auntie Maria). She also said I could get a job if I wanted to earn a buck, but I figured I’d be busy exploring the rest of the town I haven’t seen and whatnot so whatever. Besides, I earned a lot from my job at home so I was well off for the summer. She parted ways after hugging me and Nico and drove like the speed demon she is as I waved her off. Nico whined a bit until I took him for a walk and briefly said hello to Joy and her husband. There wasn’t really a lot to do after putting my stuff away and before I realized it, it was night. Saint texted me about their project and I filled them in on my short day while making myself some fried rice.
Benefits to house sitting for Auntie Maria: I have 3 choices of bedrooms. She never told me why she had a lot of bedrooms other than giving the regular ol’ excuse of “guest rooms”. I always felt like she was lying about it since I would find items in the rooms that I knew didn’t belong to her, but it was her business and I wasn't gonna pry. Picking at random with a metal bat in hand (Auntie Maria still kept my softball equipment from high school since mom was gonna throw it out), I walked into the bedroom furthest from the stairs on the second floor and laughed at Nico hopping on the bed before me.
“Hey you punk, I was gonna sit in it first!” He barked in response and quickly got comfortable as I placed the bat next to my side of the bed and got under the sheets. It wasn’t long until he scooted himself by my feet and soon after, my eyelids started to droop. Sleepiness was creeping on me as I whispered, “Night Nico.”
________________________________________________________________
It was supposed to be a typical night for Steve: he was expecting to walk around the forest lake in peace while he gathered his thoughts on what college to choose. He did this every so often away from his children rugrat-group of friends, especially his favorite, since he wanted them to care for themselves and not him. At that point of the night, he’d get get closer to the lake and try to skip rocks, watching his rocks just sink into the water. After that, he would head back to his car and go home, sneak into his room and knock out.
But this wasn’t supposed to happen: getting snatched by some slimy creature and squirming out of it but not before the creature cut him with its claws(?). Steve barely had time to think as he fled to his car, not realizing the big gash on his leg was starting to bleed. Could he make it to the car? Why couldn’t he just have a normal night? Was it really that hard to ask for?
“Shit! Just one time!” He exclaimed
He was trying to grab the walkie and bat he left in the car to warn his friends but as his fingers brushed the car door, the claws came back once more and grabbed his ankle. Steve struggled to get the creature to let go by kicking, however, the creature learned its lesson and grabbed both of his legs as they went through a slimy portal of a tree. This had to be the end for him, what else was there to live for? He hadn’t even found a girl he liked aside from Robin since she just don’t swing that way. Man, this blows
Expecting to see the upside down and the creature’s mouth above his face, he was pleasantly surprised to see neither of those things and instead was just lying on the ground of the forest again. Fuck that, if he had a chance to get away, he was taking it. Without a second to spare, he jumped up and looked down at himself.  The stupid creature ripped his jeans and he finally noticed the bleeding.
“Dammit, and these were my favorite pair and I’m bleeding all over…” Just then, the growl of a creature nearby jumped him back to his senses. He recognized the sound was unnatural and tried to strain his ears to hear what direction the creature was hiding in. The growl came closer and a rustle of leaves tipped him that the creature was on his right and he sped towards his left, hauling ass without second guessing himself. He couldn’t hear the creature anymore because of his own heartbeat pounding in his ears but he noticed houses starting to take form in his field of view and ran towards the closest. Someone just had to be up right? There's always one person who can’t sleep right? God, he prayed for an insomniac, someone to let him in.
That was short-lived however because while he was so focused on getting to the door, he didn’t notice the stupid rock in his way and tripped, hitting his head on yet another stupidly placed rock and knocking out in the progress. He didn’t even see the light turning on in the house in front of him or hear the creature creeping closer. Talk about having a shitty night.
*Sinigang*= a Filipino soup that can be with either pork or chicken, spinach, tamarind, ginger and others. The soup is really good if you have the chance to try it, do it. Doesn't hurt to try something at least once right?
This story is on archive of our own and has more chapters there but I will post the rest of the chapters

The Buzzy Chef of Long Beach: A Tale of Two Restaurants
Now this is a story all about how…
Tumblr media
My life got flipped turned upside down. So I’d like to a minute Just sit right there And I’ll tell you how I got a restaurant — no, a pair.
In Long Beach California: Home of Rice & Shine, Hosting pop-ups is where I found my cooking stride Chillin’ out, servin’, Kamayan dinners all cool And all Scotchin’ some eggs that are makin’ you drool When a couple of thoughts that seemed really good Started making changes to my livelihood I signed one little lease and my mom got scared She said “I hope you understand this new responsibility you bear”
If you want to read the story about how I ended up with two restaurants, check my flow. tl;dr version: we secured our Long Beach space then the opportunity to move into Ricebar’s old space fell into my lap 2 days later. I planned to keep my involvement in Baon on the low because we were launching Long Beach’s Kickstarter in the same week, but that didn’t work. I consider the Long Beach space we’re in as Rice & Shine’s first restaurant. Baon DTLA is its own project so to speak. That being said, we still need our Kickstarter goal to be met in order to open the doors for our Long Beach space. We hope you can help!
Tumblr media
Our First Restaurant The spot is in Long Beach on Temple and Fourth, A former ramen joint whose time had run short. We bought the assets and got to work, Cleaning our new (used) equipment and getting paint on my shirt I was so excited for this venture I didn’t know what to say, But then Tony Damico asked me to speak at Foodways. I made a presentation to a community crowd And when I announced they got hype, got real loud. Along with the story about my dad and his cooking I was honest with the crowd that we need help to get… um… cooking. What I meant is we need assistance to get open our doors To feed the public and enforce proper use of a spoon and a fork. The Universe Listened But behind-the-scenes while all this was happening Chef Charles Olalia gave me a ring, He said “Yo, AC lemme ask you something” After a conversation about this and about that My former work Ricebar, fell into my lap
Tumblr media
When I dreamt up what my future resto would look like It was an intimate space, A unique place, Serving food with my guests right there, face-to-face It was pretty crazy to have that vision manifest And this was an offer I had to accept! For those of you watching,  Let me remind you the score,  I had a restaurant and wanted to add one more.
Here was a moment where I had to choose, One where I felt I had something to lose. The pros were that this was a unique opportunity To occupy a space that wasn’t that new to me A homecourt advantage and built-in lunch crowd Were all good reasons my logic allowed
The cons included the real risks of opening, A business owner nowadays is not guaranteed success Not to mention I already had one business, man. I need rest. Except just… Just… Ricebar was the spot that I cut my teeth, Learning how SPAM sliders could move the whole country Is it weird to be passionate about a hole-in-the-wall? But I think without it my story could be less of a Rise and more Fall… By now, many of you’ve seen already what happened. Baon has been open in DTLA for two weeks. Soft open. With decor and menu still going through tweaks.
Catch us 11a–3p weekdays While bumpin’ 00s hip-hop and a lot of Sade. Join us with Sinigang Lumpia movin’ Always singin’ always groovin’ 419 7th St. LA, CA 90014 @baon.dtla | #eatyourbaon
Tumblr media
A Tale of Two Restaurants Let’s recap: We bought a restaurant and a second space too. In two different cities with two different vibes. With different kinds of neighbors, living very different lives. With my support staff, I knew we’d do better than just pull through. Baon is my first restaurant to be quite literal, But Long Beach will be a 50-seat space with a vision analytical. To open up Baon, all I did was turn a key. But the same week, I had to launch a crowdfund for Long Beach.  Under-the-radar is how I wanted Baon to fly When Eater called me buzzy, the attention came fast I knew bein’ on the low would not, could not last. We’re planning to open as soon as we can And so far most everything has been going to plan. One thing to do is the Kickstarter goal to reach… C’mon, let’s go, we got this, LONG BEACH! Truth is that I knew before the ink dried That we needed support on the financial side. So I put my faith in my support system the moment I signed, Faith in those who’ve been with me on this deliciously crazy ride. We got 1800 square feet to Baon’s 275 Fifty seats instead of only eleven inside. So many things we can do with this space in the making, But in size and concept its a huge undertaking. City permitting and fridge repair,  Are the kind of strange things getting caught in my hair. Buying and plugging in our oven convection Has to happen even before our fire inspection. “Can I Kick It?” is a phrase that’s fun to say But trust me: I’m giving my all day after day Looking forward to the moment where I get to say
“Welcome to the first Rice & Shine in our new home.”
Ain’t no kickin’ it for me ’til then. ’Til I have that space to share with all my friends.
Rice & Shine’s “Can I Kick It?” Kickstarter For those of you who want to help my dream, You can start by sharing our Kickstarter with your dodgeball team. Next, become a backer and choose a reward To get us to the goal that we’re pushing toward. Rewards like Ensaymada Butter and cooking classes are how we repay. There’s even a tier where we’ll do a private event in cosplay. We’ve only got til July 17th to make this happen! And when (not if) we hit our goal, best believe I’ll start trappin’. Yes, this is all really confusing and I understand why LA is open and there’s one in Long Beach by the same guy. But I hope this has helped in sharing my story How I got off my couch to chase Restaurant Glory. -AC

Themed surveys are the shit y’all. There should definitely be more of these.
General
Where is your country? My country is in Asia – specifically in Southeast Asia, which I recently learned a lot of people outside Asia aren’t aware of. We’re situated just right below China and we neighbor Brunei, Malaysia, and Indonesia. How big is your country? It’s moderately large, but when you consider how many we are, we are an extremely small country. What is the population of your country? 109 million. I’m not sure if this is still updated, but we’re around the 12th most populated country in the world. Compare that with how we’re only the 77th in terms of size. How would you describe the landscape? We are an archipelago, which means our country is essentially a collection of thousands of little islands – 7,107 in total. Side note: this means it’s always been extremely hard to make an attempt to be ‘united’ as a nation, due to the fact that we are literally separated from one another. But besides that, yeah we’re made up of a lot of islands which means going from one province to another typically requires you to travel via plane, boat, or ferry. Aside from the tiny islands that we have, our country has three main islands, of which the small ones are a part of – Luzon (which is where Manila is and where I live), Visayas, and Mindanao. The Philippines is also part of the Pacific Ring of Fire, which means we have a number of active volcanoes and that we are prone to hurricanes – and we do get them, badly, every year. We also have a number of mountain ranges consisting mostly of tropical rainforests; these ranges, while beautiful, make traveling from province to province quite a challenge.  Which part of your country do most people live in? Oh Manila, without a doubt. Most people, especially from the provinces, want to move to Manila because it’s the economic hub and everyone has an ideal image of it bearing opportunity for them. Unfortunately it is never what it seems and Manila is instead filled with the urban poor, some homeless and some living in shanties or illegal settlements. A lot also live in the cities surrounding Manila in a region we call Metro Manila (or, officially, the National Capital Region) to have closer access to Manila, and also because these cities have proven to give them a better life as well.
Tell me about the main industries there. The main economy is agriculture, but since then we’ve been making a shift to manufacturing and the service industries. While the shift looks good on paper, it has since meant that our farmers have been neglected and they remain extremely poor despite the effort they put into their work. Our biggest exports are sugar, coconuts, rice, bananas I think?, pineapples, and mangoes.  Tourism is also an important industry and unfortunately we’ve been hit hard by the coronavirus. Nevertheless, significant tourist spots include Boracay, Puerto Galera, Palawan, Siargao, Baler, Vigan, La Union, and Baguio. Lastly – while it’s not an ‘industry’ per se, millions upon millions of Filipinos also try their luck abroad as OFWs (Overseas Filipino Workers) for better opportunity and higher pay. As a result, their remittances to the country is one of the biggest things that contribute to our economy every year, because these OFWs are usually the breadwinners and thus send money to their families, which obviously end up pouring into the national economy. What agricultural products are produced by your country? I’ve already mentioned them, but we’re essentially powerhouses in producing rice, sugar, coconuts, corn, rubber, several fruits such as pineapples and bananas, and a type of material called abaca.
Food and drink
What traditional dishes are served in your country? Which is your favorite? What’s the recipe? We have many, considering PH has a very rich native culture. A lot of our dishes have been inspired by Spanish and Chinese culture, such as lechon (whole roasted pig) and afritada (meat and veggies in tomato sauce) for Spanish cuisine; and siopao (a bread-like dumpling), siomai (our version of Chinese dumplings), and pancit (noodles) for Chinese cuisine. But besides those, we also have come up with our own such as dinuguan (pork blood stew), sisig (chopped pig’s cheek skin, ears, and liver), and sinigang (meat or seafood in sour broth). My personal favorite is kare-kare , which is oxtail and vegetables in peanut sauce. I dunno how to cook it but both my grandmothers have the best recipes.
What drinks is your country famous for? We’re not particularly known for our drinks as much as for our food, but we do have sago’t gulaman and taho. Fruit shakes are also widely popular, and so is coconut juice. We also produce several variants of coffee, such as barako and arabica.
What alcoholic drinks are produced in your country?Again, not really internationally renowned for drinks but Filipinos LOVE their beer. Popular favorites include San Miguel Pale Pilsen, San Mig Light, and Red Horse. Tuba and lambanog are notable local alcoholic drinks but tbh they’re so native and mostly consumed in the province that as a city girl, I don’t even know what they’re made of, and I mostly read of them in books lmao.
Are there any stories behind traditional foods? Not really. But essentially, Filipinos have historically lived in the wild, with some provinces more remote than others; and a lot of people are generally poor. That means it’s in our blood to have to make do with what we have, which is why a lot of our dishes are composed of things that may be conceived as weird by others, such as duck embryo, chicken intestines, or pig’s cheeks. We’re not ‘uncultured’ or ‘disgusting,’ we’re only from a different culture with very different origins than that of the West.
Political
What is the political system in your country? I just know we live in a democracy, but the official system name for our government is apparently a unitary presidential constitutional republic; thanks, Wikipedia.
Who is in power at the moment? Unfortunately we currently have a garbage of a President, and an internationally notorious one at that – Rodrigo Duterte.
How is your country dealing with the current financial crisis? I honestly don’t know how to answer this. The Philippines has never been one of the top dogs when it comes to global economy, and as far as I know we’ve always played it safe when it comes to this, so we don’t really get seriously hit when financial crises happen.
What can you say about the leaders of your country? Miserable. Most of our senators did not deserve a seat, but there they are. As it stands, we have a TV host, a boxer (Manny Pacquiao, no less), a former police chief, and an actor in the Senate. A number of personalities in the entertainment industry have also found careers in politics. This means a lot of the things that are urgent and need lots of rational decision-making are always handled poorly and haphazardly. A lot of politicians are known to be corrupt, stealing millions of money and spending more than they earn – but they always get away with it, the ones who are supposed to be the watchdogs of corruption are also their allies. The genuinely good politicians are always overpowered, silenced, arrested, killed, ostracized – and lose elections.
The elections system is just as sad. Most, if not all, candidates, appeal to emotion and literally exploit the poor by using them as talent in their commercials to show the other poor people watching TV that they are on their side – and because the poor don’t have access to education and don’t know any better, they end up voting for them, even though these candidates don’t actually give a single fuck about the poor. Many spend hundreds upon millions for TV and radio ads for 30-second spots. Election violence, vote buying, and ghost voting are widespread.
Cities
How would you describe the capital city and any other main cities? Manila is a sad shell of what it used to be. Look up photos of Manila in the 50s and 60s, and you’d see it looks no different than the streets of Los Angeles or New York. Today it’s neglected, overpopulated, congested, and resided by people who were once filled with hopes and dreams about Manila. There’s a side of Manila that is beautiful and pretty wealthy – the part along Manila Bay – but this side is only riddled with Chinese businessmen, most of whom treat Filipinos like shit. Quezon City, Makati, and Ortigas are the economic and financial hubs surrounding Manila and for the most part these cities are known as the hip places and it’s where the youth and adults hang out. It’s where the malls, bars, restaurants are, and these cities are the ones shrouded in Western influence; but because people do flock to these places, the cost of living is extremely high from parking fees to condominiums. The major city in Visayas is Cebu and in Mindanao, Davao; but given that I’ve only been to Cebu once, and Davao never, I can’t say much about them. What special attractions can be found in each city? Manila has Rizal Park and tons of museums but the city itself isn’t a favorite among foreign tourists; these people usually go to our beaches like Boracay and Palawan, or the cities that offer a more local scenery, like Baler, Bohol, and Ilocos.
Sports and games
What is the most popular sport in your country? How do you play it? Basketball, FOR SURE. Every barangay or municipality has their own basketball court – literally. Filipinos are just basically obsessed with it whether it’s the NBA, the PBA, or basketball even at the collegiate level. Are there any sports or games unique to your country? Very few. We’ve mostly gotten eaten up by Western culture and patronize sports such as basketball, boxing, and volleyball. The only traditional sport I know of is arnis, which even I know very little about except for the fact that it’s a martial art that involves sticks. When is the best time to watch them? I’ve never watched a game of arnis. And I generally don’t watch sports, so I’m not the best person to answer this lmao. How well does your country do in international competitions? I don’t follow a lot but we’ve made our mark here and there. Obviously Manny Pacquiao is a boxing legend, but we also have Hidilyn Diaz for weightlifting, Efren Reyes for billiards, Paeng Nepomuceno for bowling, Carlos Yulo for gymnastics, and Lydia de Vega for track. Are there any sports that foreign visitors practice in your country? I don’t think so. Is football (soccer) popular in your country? If so, which are the best teams? Not really.
Weather
Is the weather very different in different parts of the country? No. It’s mainly tropical, with extremely humid summers and it’s moderately cold by the end of the year. Only cities with high elevation, like Baguio and Sagada, get EXTREMELY cold during the Ber months, which makes them popular vacation spots during Christmas haha. Sometimes the temperature will dip down to 10 or 9 degrees Celsius, which is a huge deal here.
Can you describe the seasons? We don’t have the conventional ‘seasons’ y’all have. We have two main ones – warm and wet. Wet is just the season with typhoons, warm is either summer, or a period with no typhoons. Pretty straightforward.
What is the best time to visit? It depends on where you’re going. Going to Baguio, for example, is the best during the colder months (October to December) to really maximize the colder weather. Going to the beaches is ideal in April to June.
Language
What languages are spoken in your country? Nearly 200, but official languages are Filipino and English. What language do you usually hear on the streets? Filipino. But it depends where I am, too. In wealthier cities, I’ll hear English more. How many people speak English in your country? A good number; I’d say 60-70% can understand or speak basic English. Those who can speak it conversationally comprise a smaller amount. Some still live in pretty remote areas and thus have no concept of English.
Customs
Is there a particular national costume? Can you describe it? Yeah, for the woman we have baro’t saya, and for the men we have the barong Tagalog. Just Google them lmao.
Are there any special local dances? What are they like? Several ones, like tinikling (a dance where you have your feet play with bamboo poles routinely beat together or tapped by two other people) and cariñosa, a romantic dance. But due to the Western influence here, people are more prone to get into hip-hop or contemporary dance more. Are the people generally friendly? Without a doubt, yes. Filipinos are extremely known for their hospitality. If a tourist were to knock on our door right now we would definitely let him in, make him dinner, and my mom would probably ask me to give my bedroom to him for the night. What are some special customs or traditions in your country?
We have the mano po, which is when younger individuals would greet their seniors/superiors by taking the older person’s right hand with their right hand, and placing the back of the older person’s right hand it onto their forehead. It’s a significant sign of respect and to avoid doing it is extremely impolite.
We also have the concept of community spirit, or bayanihan. Basically, if one is in need, everyone in the same community steps up and helps. The quinetessential example for this is when one has to move their hut to a new location (Filipinos before were nomadic), all the neighbors swoop in to help lift the hut and carry it all the way to the new place.
Courtship was an important step in traditional society, and the man would do a harana, or serenade the woman while playing the guitar, in front of her house while she looks out her window.
Noche Buena is the traditional midnight meal (kinda like our version of Thanksgiving) that we have by the end of Christmas Eve to usher in Christmas Day
Po and opo are filler words used to denote respect, and is always affixed to the end of sentences when speaking with elders. It’s not required, but of course you’ll look like a disrespectful asshole if you don’t use it with older people.
History
What can you tell me about the history of your country?
Pre-colonial Philippines was rich and vibrant, and one that would be considered pretty fucking progressive even today – transgender people were welcome, women were of a higher social status than men, among others.
This all changed when the Spaniards came and tl;dr ruined everything for us. They wiped out our folk religions, literature, songs, legends, epics, and everything good that we had going. Friars abused us physically, sexually, and economically; everyone was forced to convert to Catholicism; early newspapers were shut down; forced labor was imposed; anyone who disagreed with their rule was killed.
After 333 years we were sold to the US for $20 million. Americans gave us the modern education system, a modern government system, a richer literature, religious freedom, and of course, the English language. But they also brought us colonial mentality and materialism, which persists to this day. Americans were also racist towards us and the only reason we have international schools today is because these were actually started up by American soldiers so that their’ kids would have schools that didn’t have native Filipinos in them.
By WWII, Japan destroyed the Philippines, leaving us to start from scratch. They bombed Manila, raped our women and young girls and made them sex slaves, brutally murdered everybody else who weren’t women and young girls, stole everything from us, and established a puppet government in Manila to bully us further. The only reason they gave us independence was because US had dropped atomic bombs onto Hiroshima and Nagasaki, and they had no choice but to surrender.
Three colonizers has left us pretty traumatized, something we’ve never truly recovered from to this day. Our political system is shaky, our sense of identity is lost, we’ve never been truly ‘united’ as a nation, and the Catholic penetration has made us a widely conservative, pro-life, anti-LGBT country.
Did your country gain independence from another country? If so, when and how did this happen? See above.

My Destiny As A Bad Cook
Have you ever tried making your own meal for the first time but failed miserably as you created a meal that is synonymous to poison? Well, if you haven’t, you’re lucky. But if you do, well I wish that this article will give you courage to try and try until you successfully make your own meal (without making any mess!)
I was nine when I first tried to make my own food... er, sort of. My grandmother was the one who supervised my first attempt in cooking the rice that we were supposed to eat for lunch. It started great, actually. She commended my talent in “washing” and “rinsing” the rice (grains). Who wouldn’t? I mean, the water is almost clear instead of blurry. Alright, it was kind of off. But at least, it does look good. However, it doesn’t end there. The moment I placed the cauldron on the top of the stove and placed it over the fire, my heartbeat skipped. It was fascinating to watch but I still got nervous since I don’t know what to do next. Second phase got cleared when the water boiled. But when the third phase came, that’s where the disaster kicked in. The stove was still set in high, the cauldron’s cover was still resting on the top of the other stove, and lastly, I got so engrossed with the teleserye that we were watching at the moment. My mom entered the kitchen and got mad (but she laughed afterwards, don’t worry.) She even called it a ‘bibingka’ since it resembles the condition of the rice inside the cauldron. In the end, she had to cook a new set of rice for our late lunch. (Sorry mom!)
Then, high school came. (Yep, after that bibingka incident, I refrained myself from cooking anything.) My course in TLE (or Business Technology) was cooking. I was hoping that I will improve my talent in cooking since my mom is a good cook (I’m asking for a raise in my daily allowances). I passed my baking examinations and as well as the Filipino native delicacies tests (trust me, palitaw is the best and easiest delicacy to make). However, when we had to cook a Filipino food and frying a chicken, I don’t know what happened but what I know is that my grade wasn’t as good as the grade I got in baking. My group and I attempted to cook pork sinigang. It was sour, alright (thanks to that sampalok powder mix) however, it was too sour for our teacher’s taste. She told us that we should add even just a drop of fish sauce to balance the taste. That’s when my desire to learn how to cook kicked in.
I was around fifteen when my mom told me to cook pork adobo for lunch and dinner. I followed her step-by-step instructions. But of course, disasters still happened. 1) It was terrible. 2) At first it was too salty, then it was too sour, then when I added sugar, it became too sweet to the point that it almost made me vomit. 3) It became bitter during the afternoon. Luckily, when dinner time came, it was finally edible! It tasted just right!
Right after that, I tried cooking it again. This time, without calling my mom for instructions. I did what I believe is right and according to her [mom] first instructions. Then, instead of adding a little bit of vinegar on the food, I added pineapple chunks to balance the taste! After the soy sauce and the pineapple juice mixed well, I tried to taste it and thank God it was very delicious! Gone the four seasons taste! It tasted just right! I immediately called my mom and told her about my successfully cooked pork adobo. She complimented my success before mentioning the first time I made the same dish.
And from then on, I rarely make any kitchen disasters! Though frying milk fish could still end with kitchien mishaps.
How about you? What was the worst kitchen mishap that you made?
