The tongue had been taken from the shinobi first as a lesson in not being heard. Next had been his left hand in a demonstration of the shinobi’s poor defensive form. Each failure cost the shinobi more and more until, finally, his master had taken too much. Seeing no use for his troubled student, the master tossed his mangled protege into the streets to live out the rest of his days in shame. And the fallen shinobi could never forget what had been done to him. He would prove his worth as a great and silent warrior. Even if it meant killing his master’s other students one by one.
