When you play Magic The Gathering and your card playing buddies find out about your unhealthy obsession with a Baldur's Gate 3 character... 😅 I guess I gotta build myself a blue deck now!
Tumblr media
I do really adore his artwork!!! I hope I can get my hands on the "Gale's Redirection" card as well! Thank you to my friends who constantly stoke the fire that is my obsession! 🥰

I've been making my own custom Magic the Gathering cards for a while now, but I started really getting into it this week and thought I'd post some!
Tumblr media
Sorry for the blurry pictures, I really tried to get nice ones, but I have very shaky hands :_:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
These are in chronological order, and the first three are ones I made earlier in the year, all the ones after are the ones I made this week

Hope you guys like them! I'll post more as I make them, but this is all I have as of now

Within the Great Illuminary in the realm of Lorcana, The Basil of Baker Street storyborn glimmer finally meets his other glimmer selves within their makeshift lab within the walls of the grand hall. They are quite surprised to say the least.
~~~~ Man. I worked pretty hard on this one. I'm really happy with how it turned out. I had to force myself to stop from going completely overboard with adding things. More Great Mouse Detective art to come!
I'm posting some Creature tokens I did for my mtg cube where I made up half of the cards. I know I'm posting almost exclusively about Magic nowadays, but hopefully these have enough merits on their own to satisfy my NUMEROUS fans that followed me before I fell into a trading card shaped hole which I'm incapable and unwilling to crawl out of.
First off, Kobolds. I just loved drawing these critters! Couldn't get enough of them. I'm glad I gave them this silly way to dress that seems just cobbled together. Giving them individual ear forms and fur patterns was also a delight.
Next off, Worker and Golem. I'm particularly proud of the worker one because my inking style is pretty heavy, but the illustration still seems airy and full of light.
A magic item for use in Dungeons and Dragons 5th edition tabletop role-playing game. This is a homebrew magic item created by Cloaks and Capes.
Joker’s Wild
Wondrous Item, legendary
“This Joker Card is the last remaining of a destroyed deck of magical cards. The designs in the background have a reflective, metallic quality. If you look closely at the Joker's face, you can almost notice him chuckling.”
You can use a Bonus Action to tap into the power of this magic item by rolling 1d6 or 1d20. If you roll an even number, you have Advantage on a D20 Test of your choice within the next 1 minute. If you roll odds, choose another creature to give Disadvantage to on their next D20 Test. Once you use this item, you cannot use it again until the next dawn.
Little Joker. If you choose to roll 1d6 and roll a 6, add +10 to the damage of your next attack. On a roll of 1, your next attack roll is a Critical Hit, and you take the same amount of damage as your target.
Big Joker. If you choose to roll 1d20 and roll a 20, you can cast the Foresight spell on a creature within 30 feet. On a roll of 11-19, you can choose to restore Hit Points to a creature within 30 feet, but you lose the amount of Hit Points they regain. On a roll of 2-10, you gain Resistance to Bludgeoning, Piercing and Slashing damage, but Vulnerability to all other damage for 1 minute. On a roll of 1, the card chooses another creature within 60 feet of you at random and casts the Power Word Kill spell on them. If the spell fails, and they take Psychic damage, you take the same amount of damage.
Jokes on You. On a result of 1 on a d20 roll, this magic item is destroyed. If you have 0 Hit Points when it is destroyed, your body is also destroyed and can only be restored through the use of a Wish spell.
I have two commander decks. One is blue-green, led by Vorel of the Hull Clade, and focused around building up as many +1/+1 counters as possible on a single evasive creature. I love it on a philosophical level because all the art and flavor text is about the freedom and power of bodily transformation and, as a trans woman in the early stages of feminizing my body through hormones, I jive with that.
The other is a white-green, led by Sythis, Harvest's Hand, and focused around buffing creatures with auras, with a sub-theme of token generation. I love it on an aesthetic level because all the art is of elves and dryads and lady-knights, with a sprinkling of cute fey creatures, and it's all very lush and cottage core and divine-feminine, so basically my transition-goal mood-board as a commander deck.
I told all of this to a friend from my commander pod as I tried to decide which one to bring to our next game night, and after I got through all that florid description, he asked me, "Well, which one is better?" And that's when I had to admit that, in terms of actually winning the game, they're both utter shit.
More custom cards! After someone pointed out to me that the solid color mana was hard for colorblind people, I've started trying to add the little symbols into the color costs. They're hard to make look right, since it's very small, but I'm doing my best
I really like the idea of melded creatures and I wanted to include some in my cube of made up magic cards. But in a draft it's not very probable that you'll find both halves of the melded creature.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
So I thought, what if it was more flexible? So I designed a melded creature that you can build out of 2 fortifications and 2 creatures. But which fortification you combine with which creature is kind of up to you.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I'm really proud how this turned out!
Makes me think I'm kind of a good illustrator, you know?
