Do you think it was wrong on everyone's part, esp. Shivaay, Jahnvi to kinda force Om to accept his marriage with Gauri in the OU? Om never accepts his marriage publicly. It's obvious to everyone that there is unrest in Rikara marriage, Gauri even leaves OM quite a few times. She tells Shivaay that Om doesn't accept her. Yet Shivaay never asks Om what's the issue. Only Anika realises that Om is acting out of guilt, & just hints at Gauri moving on. Why did no one care abt. Om's agency?

Yes. On her part, Jhanvi of all people knew what it felt like to be stuck in a bad marriage; why does she selfishly condemn Gauri to what she’s been subjected to for the last few decades, especially when she can see Om repeating Tej’s patterns? Also, lord knows I love ShivRi, and how Gauri was the first person Shivaay has an instant connection with and the instinct to protect (outside his family), but Shivaay never once has a real conversation with Om alone about why Gauri was leaving in the first place. He knows Om and his commitment issues and what not, but still he just brings her back and thopofies her on Om and then the whole Mahasangam week with the rituals happens, steamrollering all over Om’s consent. I mean, if later on, after getting to know the whole story, he thinks Gauri and Om are good for each other and he nudges them along into fixing things (like he does), but the way he just brought her back and immediately throws them (and esp. Om) into the deep end is kinda ehhhhhhhhhh. Just coz he’s suddenly feeling very optimistic about his zabardasti ki shaadi this particular week, doesn’t mean every contentious marriage works out.

Why does no one care about Om’s agency? It’s not a problem just pertaining to Om. No one cares about anyone else’s agency in this show. Shivaay doesn’t care about Anika’s, Dadi doesn’t care about either Shivaay or Anika’s (after the forced wedding), etc. etc. When it comes to shaadi, it’s just some kinda fucking free-for-all going on here, ki galti se bhi kuch reeti-rivaaj ho gaye, toh then these two people are condemned to spend the rest of their lives (if not the next 7 ones) together.
