Okay starting off strong 

The scene

The Scene?????

Are you fucking kidding me???

So we know he's a bit of a trouble maker 

That's putting it lightly 

But the fact is Francis is not afraid to get his hands dirty 

He is not at all afraid to get fucking messy

And you know having Lois as his mom is more than enough reason for him to be straight up feral

As Hal said, the men in their family have a habit that makes them a little unstable (and very desperate) in relationships 

It's giving greek tragedy curse 

So if you've ever wanted a hot slightly unhinged obsessive pathetic hot mess boyfriend 

Francis is the one for you 

Okay maybe boyfriend isn't quite the right word 

He’s not “technically” your boyfriend yet

But he’s hellbent on getting there eventually

He just has to warm you up a little first

Prove that he would be such a good boyfriend that you couldn’t say no

He just has to really plead his case, tell you how he feels

He figures if he’s up front and honest, lays his cards on the table

If he tells you he’s fallen for you, all the amazing traits he admires about you and that he thinks you could have some great chemistry

That he’d really love to get to know you better 

That he has a good shot at you agreeing to go on a date with him

It’s a solid plan

So he’s not sure how he ends up literally begging you on his knees, arms around your waist and kissing your stomach after getting rejected a dozen times in like two days

He thinks of something smart but every time he opens his mouth something erratic (and probably a red flag) comes out

He didn’t see this coming

No one did except Hal and Lois

Hal should start offering relationship tarot readings because in that minute and a half speech to his kids, he not only predicted Malcolm's first relationship 

But Francis's too

He's hooked up before, had flings here and there 

But he's never really liked anyone 

Until he sees you, the new babysitter Lois hired 

You're so sweet 

You're responsible, make good grades, and actually have a modicum of common sense 

Lois is hoping you're just what her boys need

Francis is often out of the house doing god knows what 

One of the reasons Lois hired you to begin with 

So it's a little while before Francis actually meets you 

But when he does?? 

Holy hell brace yourself 

When Francis sees you it changes his fucking brain chemistry 

He grabs his brothers and is like "That's the babysitter???"

"Yeah??"

"So you just forgot to mention how hot they are???" 

They did not expect this kind of reaction from him

He pays Dewey five bucks to sneak into your bag and see he can find out what body spray or lip gloss or cologne you use 

Dewey somehow manages to get in and out of your bag without you noticing

“What’s it called?” Francis asks, needing to satisfy the burning urge to know what you smell like up close

“Twilight… twilight something.” Dewey says, trying to remember. “I think it was… twilight sedation. Yeah, that’s it.” 

Francis looks over at you

“Twilight sedation…” he says dreamily

It’s twilight forest, but who’s counting

Francis needs to be around you as much as possible

Being home more than usual won’t be a problem, he thinks

He’s not responsible enough for Lois to let him watch his brothers unsupervised without utter chaos anyway, so it’s not like you’ll stop coming over

So now when you’re babysitting his brothers

When you’re making mac and cheese or helping them with their homework

He’ll find little moments to steal you away

Every time he fully intends to have a conversation with you 

Banter, build a rapport, get to know you better

And every time he ends up shamelessly coming onto you

And usually ends with him pinning you to a wall begging you to let him kiss you

Just once

Please, just once, just one time

And every time you manage to slip away and go back to what you were doing

Helping his brothers with video game levels and homework 

And every time, it leaves him wanting you more and more and more

You think he’s just messing with you at first

But you can’t deny the sincerity of his face and voice and body language

He’s burning for you

Aching for you

And it’s a little overwhelming to say the least

Especially with how out of the blue it is

You want to just have a normal conversation but always end up with him much closer to you than you expect

So you panic and slip away

And so begins the enticing game of cat and mouse between you that drives Francis even crazier for you than he thought was possible

Every time he promises himself he’ll play it cool, just be normal around you

And every time he ends up pinning you against the kitchen counter telling you what a good boyfriend he’ll be

Please just let him prove it

The logical part of your brain knows these should probably be red flags 

But a smaller part of you wants to see

The logical part of your brain also knows that you absolutely should not date the son of the woman you’re babysitting for 

Especially since (aside from Francis) this is the chillest cushiest babysitting job you’ve ever had

Lois was right, you’re exactly what her boys need

And since it’s impossible to get a babysitter, much less keep one, she’s paying you really well for this

So yeah

Dating her son would be a huge conflict of interest

You can’t

You absolutely cannot

But the one thing you failed to take into consideration is that you lowkey have horrible taste in men

So this thing building between you and Francis is really just a matter of time 

Then things are really going to get crazy

It took me a few days, but with the death of icon-goddess-genius Vivienne Westwood, I had to make a post here about her work and how massively influential she was during her lifetime, and why her influence will remain for years to come.

"I take something from the past that has a sort of vitality that has never been exploited – like the crinoline – and get very intense. In the end you do something original because you overlay your own ideas." Vivienne Westwood

Born in 1941 in Tintwistle, Cheshire, Vivienne Westwood (nèe Swire) did not have a "traditional" path into fashion and design, even though she took a course of jewellery at the Harrow Art School (she thought it was not for her, being a working-class girl), she became a primary school teacher and got married with Derek Westwood, had a kid... But she was a maker of things and a creative mind, and made her own wedding dress and jewellery that she sold at a stall.

But all of that was about to change when she met Malcolm McLaren. She got divorced, moved with him and had another son. McLaren became the manager of the Sex Pistols and with Westwood, they became a creative duo who dressed the band and became VERY influential during th punk era. We must add the after that they opened a store called SEX, which was the meeting place for the punk scene in London in the 1970s. So, yeah. punk wouldn't look like it does without Vivienne Westwood.

"Vivienne and Malcolm use clothes to shock, irritate and provoke a reaction but also to inspire change. Mohair jumpers, knitted on big needles, so loosely that you can see all the way through them, T-shirts slashed and written on by hand, seams and labels on the outside, showing the construction of the piece; these attitudes are reflected in the music we make. This era of Westwood's design has a lot of collaboration, especially with McLaren, and they produced under the Worlds End label until 1985. These collections have each a theme and a name, and here is when we star seeing Vivienne Westwood's eye and curiosity for historical fashion, as well as nods and details especially from the 18th and 19th centuries. Of course, it was the 80s and all was way more colourful than what we thing of more contemporary Vivienne Westwood, but you can see that EVERYTHING was already there in the period which she dubbed as "New Romantic" with collections like Witches, Punkature, and Pirate.

The 1988-1991 era is called "The Pagan Years", and we can see the change of the main looks from punks to girls in clothes that parodied the upper class. And it is then that I think the ultimate Vivienne Westwood is seen: corsets, crinolines, tartan, colourful stripes... Here is when we begin to see the historical references taken to a extreme, mixed with the modern word and sense of humour, while always being perfectly made and patterned and fun for all genders.

i would really love to see more people like me in the media i consume, and i really would've loved to see people like me in the media that i consumed as a kid.

like. i'm lifelong disabled, i've always been disabled, i've only gotten worse. but when i see disabled kid characters, they have helicopter parents (like Stevie from Malcolm in the Middle). i didn't. i was largely neglected beyond my basic needs because i was a "good kid, just lazy". so i wasn't taught how to do basic things, and i was very socially stunted. i got my socialization through video games, books, and cartoons. and i'm forever weird because of it (not that it's the worst, i like having a unique personality for sure. but i'd like to see more weird poorly socialized kids, too, that aren't like... bullies or something -- and the fact poorly socialized or socially disabled characters are often coded as bullies or creeps of some kind could be a rant in itself).

when i see disabled characters in general, especially ones in wheelchairs like me, they're all skinny. i'm not. i'm fat. like very fat. muscular, sure, i could punch like a kangaroo i bet, but i'm 300+ lbs. because it's hard to exercise when your walking/standing are so limited. and it's hard to cook healthy food, too, leading to eating shit microwavable junk. but all the wheelchair-using characters i know, minus Franklin from Texas Chainsaw Massacre, are skinny. in general, there's too many skinny people in media, and we need more variation in body types and builds, but focusing on disabled characters for this one.

when i see amputee characters get a prosthetic, they have no issues. they don't ever deal with poorly fit prosthetics, or blisters, or pain. if they deal with anything at all, it's usually a sight gag (which could be done well, it IS funny when i get my fake foot caught under stuff sometimes, but it often isn't done well at all). they don't deal with any internalized ableism, and i think the only times i saw a disabled character deal with outright malicious ableism was Walt Jr. in Breaking Bad season 1 (who was genuinely an amazing disabled character imo, one of the best I've ever seen) and Patty in Dinner in America. I understand the argument that nobody wants to witness ableism... and self-hating disabled characters also suck... but I feel like we're being so dishonest when we write things to be perfect and always work out and there's never any problems, and it leads to non-disabled people not being aware of the problematic things they do or say or think. i remember as a disabled kid being really frustrated when shown disabled characters that were so well-off in terms of how other people treated them and how easy it was to "fix" their disabilities... it made me feel broken or wrong that I WAS so frustrated and confused and in pain and mistreated. It's why characters like Lt. Dan from Forrest Gump, and John Locke from LOST, and Bran Stark + Tyrion Lannister + Jaime Lannister from A Song of Ice and Fire/Game of Thrones meant so much to me and were so magnetic. (I could write a whole different rant about disabled rep in ASOIAF/GOT btw... I love you Davos Seaworth) ... Being disabled can suck. People can mistreat you. You sometimes have to be forced to adapt when you shouldn't have to. You have to, at times, confront that some of your dreams are impossible to achieve, or that you can no longer do something that you love, and learn to accept it (but there's often a lot of bitterness and rage before you get to the point of that acceptance).

What about how PTSD and depression are shown? See, I don't relate to the wilting flower brooding archetype that feels so common. If I spend all day in bed, it's usually more for pain than it is because of mental health. What about psychotics shown in a positive light? I'm not a threat to you because of my paranoia or hallucinations, and neither are my psychotic friends. What about OCD, shown in ways other than counting and germaphobia? What about autism, shown in ways other than robotic apaths? What about BPD, shown in a way other than abuse?

Let's move away from disabled characters into queer ones. Because I don't see a lot of queer characters like me, either. I am transmasc nonbinary, and I identify as a lesbian, and also on the ace spectrum (demi or grey, idk, shit's hard). Where are my fat dykes? Transmascs in general, but also transmascs that still enjoy makeup? I love makeup... I love the pageantry of it -- esp tradgoth or punk makeup or corpse paint. It's amazing how many transmasc nonbinary people I know in real life that engage with femininity compared to how nonexistent they are in any media. God forbid you have a character that takes testosterone but still calls themself a lesbian. God forbid you have a lesbian that leans more butch that ISN'T a sex-hound or a villain or a joke character. God forbid you have an ace character that isn't treated like a robot. Authentic queerness feels incredibly rare. I know it's because they're going for either sanitized queerness that is accessible for straight people, or for softcore porn also for straight people, but fuck, man. It sucks. The closest thing to representation I've ever seen in regards to my queerness was Al from Little Evil -- a masc person of indeterminate gender identity with a wife. And Al rocked. Even if that character was largely a comedic relief, their identity itself didn't feel like the joke, just a point of mild confusion for the main character. The next best representation I've seen was Aziraphale and Crowley from the Good Omens show, which are good and feel very authentic and real. Next best after that is probably the entire cast of the What We Do in the Shadows show... I know so many Laszlos and Nandors and Guillermos and Nadjas in real life, they feel like pretty authentic queer characters actually. None that I, in particular, relate to, other than maybe Guillermo at best, but it's nice to see my friends on TV, too.

I know that a character exactly like me is a bit too much to wish for. But I just want something. I like to feel seen. I like to feel present. I like to feel like people like me are worth having on TV and in movies and in video games. I would've really liked to see any of that as a really confused, lonely kid that was trapped inside because of my health and sentenced to read/watch/play hours and hours and hours and hours of media that did not contain any piece of me within them. It worsened my loneliness more than ever needed.

I've wanted to get some piercings in my ears for a few years now but between brokeness and covid stuff I haven't gotten around to it yet. Someday?

I have two tattoos. One is a reference to a song by a band I used to know and the other is in honor of my kids but also some stuff from my own childhood. Both were done by a close friend of mine. A lot of people don't realize I have them, especially the first one, which is on my ribcage. I want to get more tattoos but that may be tough since I can't go back to Texas anytime soon and the idea of working with a new artist here is a huge bummer--no one could take the place of my friend.

I just got my balayage re-done, with purplish ash blond bits, and it's the best thing I've ever done to my hair. Now if the weather would just cool off enough for me to be able to wear it down!

I had cosmetic surgery in middle school to make my ears stick out less.

I'm not super depressed most of the time but I'm prone to anhedonia (difficulty experiencing positive emotions) so I don't smile much and I seldom laugh aloud. Though since I started ADHD meds I started laughing a bit more, which has been nice.

I used to wear makeup a lot more, but I have allergy stuff that makes it hard to wear eye makeup so I've gotten out of the habit. I miss it. It was a good source of gender euphoria.

I'm not displeased with how I look, but saying I'm pleased with it seems a bit strong.

I swim about as well as I play piano and guitar--I can get it done but it may not be that aesthetically pleasing.

I've read books this year but none that were part of a series so far. The last time I read a series was probably when I read Trollope's Barchester Chronicles a couple of years ago. My latest non-series book was Manning Marable's biography of Malcolm X (the audiobook version, which I highly recommend).

I very rarely get to travel and I'm a bit envious of those who do.

Today is my 16th anniversary with my partner (our getting together anniversary, not the wedding one, which is in December). He was my best friend when we started dating.

Making online friends and meeting them in "real life" is the best. It's been way too long since I did that. I've made some really important friends that way, including a friend who was my person of honor at my wedding and one of my closest friends in the city where I currently live.

AESTHETICS

I'm a huge fan of rain and storms. Even though it rains a lot in the PNW, I still miss Central Texas rain. The drizzly days here are nice, don't get me wrong, and overall the weather suits me far better. But I miss big, hard rains with thunder and stuff. I could go for one of those freaky horizontal deluges with golfball-sized hail and thunder that shakes your house. I don't want to be out in it, or not for long. But I'd love to look out the window at one right about now.

Freud wrote about an "oceanic" feeling where human beings have a sense of oneness with the universe (his friend coined the term and he ran with it). It's not a coincidence that this term references the ocean. The ocean just has an effect on the human psyche/nervous system that we haven't begun to understand.

Sometimes when I can't fall asleep I make up stories. One of my go-to things is stuff that that might happen after the endings of Austen novels. For example, if Mr. Darcy is going to be Jane Bennet's brother-in-law he is going to have to apologize for the bullshit he pulled when he interfered in her relationship with Bingley. And he'd better do a good job, too.

My favorite song to sing in the shower is Great Potential by Freakwater.

A Smoothie: A Camp Half-Blood Story

Sneeze. Okay, Luke did NOT need to be sick today. He was still a camp counselor and wouldn't be leaving until the end of summer. Two whole months laid ahead of him. Percy, Annabeth, and Grover had returned a few days ago. "ACHOO!" Luke jumped, startled by Connor sneezing. "Ow!" Travis yelled as a bow that suspiciously looked liked Chiron'a hit him in the head.

"Okay, why did you steal that?" Luke groaned, feeling a migraine coming on. He rubbed his temples and took a deep breath. He could do this. He could do this. He could do this.

...He couldn't do this. Turns out, half the Hermes cabin was sick. Connor, Travis, and Chris would summon an item they stole every time they sneezed or coughed which meant room was rapidly running out. Clovis coughed and everyone was hit with severe drowsiness. Lou Ellen sneezed and a camper turned into a cat. Lovely.

"Everyone, stay calm. No one leaves this cabin until I get back, understood?" Luke did his best Camp Mom™ voice. Everyone agreed, most too tired to get out of bed. Luke stormed out of the cabin toward the Apollo cabin to either get Lee or Will. "HEY! OPEN UP!" he yelled, banging on the golden door, narrowing his eyes against the brightness.

"Luke, what do you want?" Lee Fletcher, Apollo cabin counselor, groaned, sounding terrible. He was stuffy, his eyes were red snd puffy, and he could coughed every few minutes.

"Half of my cabin is sick, and I came to get you or Will, but I can see you guys are sick as well?" Luke tilted his head, looking inside. All of the Apollo campers were horribly sick. Some were literally glowing, others made musical instruments play without touching them, and some only spoke in poetry or song. "Nevermind," he sighed. "I'll go check on the other cabins."

Turns out, most of the camp was sick. Just great. The campers who weren't sick were instructed to stay in the Big House. Luke was staying in the Big House. Clarisse, Percy, Nyssa, Malcolm, Miranda, Will, Annabeth, Castor and Drew were all in the Big House. Literally everyone else was sick. Chiron mentioned this sickness was one he hadn't seen in many, many years. It was a virus that only infect demigods (absolutely wonderful. Just perfect! Amazing!) and made their powers go haywire. (Ugh.)

The next few weeks were horrible. Walking around camp was like walking through a live minefield. However, Luke didn't care. He was a son of Hermes who thrived on a little danger. He and Percy were in the arena, sparring. Luke did feel bad. Percy was a good kid, but he stood in Luke's way and needed to be taken out.

"Thank you," Percy smiled, confusing Luke. "For not treating me any differently because I survived," the son of Poseidon clarified. "I don't like all the attention."

"No problem," Luke smiled with all teeth. "I'm glad you sur--ACHOO!" Luke sneezed.

"Gesundheit," Percy said before his eyes widened. "Luke...what do you have there?"

Luke looked down and cursed in Ancient Greek. (Percy was glad he didn't understand what Luke said.) "A Smoothie," Luke deadpanned, coughing again and a blue slushies from 7/11 appeared, dumping all over him and the master bolt currently in his hands. "Dam it," Luke groaned. Now he was caught red handed and sticky.

"You stole the master bolt?" Percy whispered, stepping back.

"I did?" Luke feigned innocence. "Percy, I am sick. My powers are going haywire. That's probably why it's in my hands," he bullshitted, hoping Percy would believe him.

"Okay..." Percy hesitantly replied. Luke sighed. "I should probably get this to Dionysus. Or you should. I must go quarantine with the others." He dropped the bolt. "And shower," he grumbled, shaking a glob of slushies off of his hand.

Luke sneezed again and more items fell tot be ground, a left shoe that belong to Hermes hitting Percy in the head. Next thing he knew, a mountain of left shoes fell on him. "How did you manage to steal all of this!?" Percy shouted at Luke who cackled.

"Let's just say I wanted child support and took something of his," Luke snickered, imagining how confused Hermes would be to see all of his left shoes missing...again. Now that was an adventure Luke would never forget. A year after his quest, Luke, being a petty bitch, stole all of Hermes' left shoes. He even blamed it on Apollo.

"YOU SON OF A--" Lee Fletcher screamed, aiming a bow at the Hermes kids, Luke stood to the side, confused. "What in Hades is going on!?"

"THEY STOLE THE PLUSHIES!" Lee snarled, eyes glowing with rage. "THEY TOOK ALL FIFTY PLUSHIES!"

"The cow ones?" Luke asked.

"YES THE COW ONES!" Lee shouted back.

"Well, simple, keep a better eye on them. I am going to sleep. Settle this yourselves." Luke shrugged, going into the showers before collapsing on his bunk. Maybe things would be better in the morning.

Things were not, and now the entire camp was sick. Luke hated his life.

Bonus scene: if Nico was at camp

Nico coughed and tons of chibi skeletons popped into existence, all following Nico would like lost ducklings. "Not a word," he glared at Will, who was covering his mouth to poorly hide his laughter.

December 31: State of Grace

I wanted this blog to be the most special because it would be my last blog this year and next year. I decided to be on hiatus next year to rest, to regain my creative juices. Though every artist needs to recharge, I had the most fun doing my 365-day drawing challenge.

Do not worry, though, because I have scheduled surprises once a month to make this blog active! Until then, I hope you guys keep healthy, fun, and optimistic this coming 2023! It's the bunny year (in the Chinese zodiac sign)! I hope 2023 will be as cuddly and adorable as a bunny, haha; my fingers are crossed.

Anyway, I would divide this blog into three sections: announcement, recommendations, and message. I am excited to share my thoughts, so here it goes!

I am not a follower of drag race, but I love these two fabulous creative queens. Suppose you like listening to random and crazy topics about life, the internet, mainstream media, or anything. In that case, this podcast is totally for you. There are no boring seconds in this podcast. You'd cry while laughing so much.

Eons: Mysteries of Deep Time

Fossils, dinosaurs, cavemen, and whatever knowledge from the past you wanna know, Eons doesn't disappoint, as always. I love their YouTube channel I am glad they now have a podcast. I wish they would continue uploading more content on Spotify. Totally worth your time.

The Kit & Krysta Podcast

If you followed Nintendo Minutes on YouTube, you would recognize these two amazing people. Do you like Pokemon? Zelda? Or any games? This podcast is totally for you! I love how I also learned some tips about games because of them.

That 70's Show

I just started this series and am now in season four going five. I love this because, as someone who wasn't born this year, I appreciate all the popular things in the 70s. I love the cast and the writing because the tone is similar to Malcolm in the middle. You won't know what's coming next, haha! My favorite character is Kitty Foreman! :D

Wednesday

I love this series. I was iffy to watch this because I thought it would be full of gore, but it wasn't! I also like the casting here. It's close to the comics! I love actor Hunter who played Tyler. He is so hot and talented!

Adventure Time

I know I am 10 years late or something, haha! But I really loved Cartoon Network in the 2010s; they had such good shows. I am glad I watch this series without commercials or a season break. If you like Steven Universe, Regular Show, Adventure Time would be your thing too! It's so good!

Albums/Songs

Midnights

My first Taylor Swift album. I have previously listened to her album but have yet to be this in-depth. I just turned into a Swiftie now. Almost all my liked songs on Spotify are from her! I love Karma, Hits Different, and You're on your own, Kid.

Red

I am 5 to 6 years late, but this is my favorite album this year. I love almost all the songs here. Taylor Swift, you are talented! My favorite songs are State of grace, Red, and Message in the bottle.

The Loneliest Time

I love Carly so much! This album is such a chill vibe for me. 10 out of 10 for me!

Celestial

Ed Sheeran doesn't disappoint! I was happy when he released a song for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. It's so nostalgic same with Post Malone's music for Pokemon.

That's all my recommendations this year that I have listened to and watched many times. I would love to have a book recommendation soon as well!

MESSAGES

I always say this, but I am genuinely happy even though I have few followers on my social media accounts. You guys still make time to respond, like, and share my artwork. I cannot thank you enough for doing this. I often feel emotional every time I get likes passed 10. It is silly, but your 'likes' and 'follows.' Make artists like I inspired and fuel me to do more creative stuff.

Thank you so much for being part of my 2022 adventure. It was not a perfect year, but we had fun learning from our mistakes, challenges, and goals. 2023 would again be our year together.

This blog's title it's inspired by Taylor Swift's song in the Red album, State of Grace. It's one of my favorite songs of hers, especially the lyrics, "This is the golden age of something good and right and real" I wanted to manifest this next year. Let's go, 2023!

My #1 post of 2022

so i found a jurassic park parody musical...

rating: ♾️/10, absolute masterpiece

highlights include:

the singing/parodies of famous songs with hits such as pure imagination but the songs are about dinosaurs

the dancing dinosaurs

mr. dna, the actor was super into it and played that role to perfection

john yelling FINE WE'LL GIVE THE DINOSAURS SKIRTS

alan and ellie taking things somewhat seriously and their little science talks

ian. just his whole character was fantastic, he was chaotic, had a solo and was almost always in the background flirting with...something (there's this one scene where muldoon and alan are having a Serious Conversation about how This is Bad and it looks like ian is...trying to chat up a tap dancing velociraptor in the background? at the end of the scene one looks at him and makes a "call me" gesture) and im just ???? this man will try to date anything that moves he can also be seen flirting with extras

THE DANCING DINOSAURS (they're so good they deserve multiple mentions)

the scene with the t rex, there was no flare instead ian just burst out of the car and started dancing with the t-rex AND IT WORKED they sang a whole little song together. it was fantastic.

so y'know the famous dr malcolm pose™️ well in this play they had him lying on a wheeling table and whenever he had something to contribute to dialogue or needed to come on/offstage one of the people offstage pushed his table out and pulled it back in it's one of the stupid little things in this musical but i laughed so hard and had to rewatch this sassy man being pushed on/offstage on a table with his arm in the air several times

THE RAPTOR'S SONG was awesome

Donnie finds himself in Elias with his brothers after losing their father to the big bad Shredder. Donnie has always been the unofficial second in command whether it was Raph or Leo leading the team. He didn’t necessarily like the job but his brothers led with their hearts and often had to turn to look at him when they were stumped. He always had to have a back up plan to their plans. He liked being needed and while it was terrible pressure, he didn’t really know who he’d be outside of them. The only thing that ever made sense was that he was 1 of 4 rather odd boys.

He took upon himself though to make sure that the logistics were always sorted out. He didn’t know really how he’d ended up working for the monster that was Orion Bartholomew but he had and he’d be hard pressed to walk away when the man was handing out money like it was candy. He needed it to help his brothers and there was very little Donnie wouldn’t do for his brothers. He just had to keep them out of the loop of what he was really up to.

Working for a villain was not the Hamato way his dad had in mind but ninjas worked for whoever paid the most, right? He could never really reconcile the deadly things he’d been trained to do with his father’s heroic ideas. How could they be heroes? Leo had swords for crying out loud. Besides, what had heroics gotten them? They hadn’t been able to protect the one person who had cared for them more than any other. Who knows how they’d ended up in that lab to be experimented on but Donnie didn’t think kids with parents who loved them ended up where they had. Not that he cared very much, Splinter was their father and unlike his brothers, Donnie would do anything to get him back.

Donnie is hiding it pretty well but he’s actually pretty hurt from the fight with Shredder. His left shoulder was torn up by the other’s knives. Leo had sutured it up but Donnie didn’t want to admit that not only could he not feel much in his shoulder but his range of motion was not back. Not to mention, it still hurts like a bitch.

Shredder was trying to create the perfect children with yokai abilities who could wield the Hamato legendary weapons. They couldn’t be wielded by humans and so the experiments started. The last Hamato son, Yoshi, had fallen into their custody at last and he was a trophy to the Foot Clan.

Donnie didn’t remember any of this, of course. He recalled the walls of his cell and Leo’s hand in his but very little else and he never really tried. Leo had been with him from the start and in their worst moments, they’d had each other. He had no idea when he’d gotten there and yes, it had hurt. Everything had hurt in the beginning but the pain was overshadowed by the kindness of Splinter and the warmth of his brothers. 

They’d grown under the blanket of safety in the tunnels of New York City. Splinter had done his best to give them all they needed and they were happy. Sure they were turtle mutants with no ability to control it but they didn’t care. Donnie and Mikey were more curious and every day they would sneak out further and further. There was a whole world out there and they wanted to see it.

He started messing around with tech very young and quickly blew through books and videos. He was curious about everything and that meant grilling his dad about how they’d come to be. He didn’t Splinter would have ever told them if Donnie hadn’t tired him out. The natural curiosity was what got him hurt more often than his brothers. It was scary what he’d risk in order to get his question answered. He figured out the whole transformation thing rather quickly because of it. Science was his calling but he left the ickier side of it like medicine to Leo.

He was very squeamish and had a hard time with textures and sounds in their ‘home’. He would focus on his inventions and try to ignore it but April gave him headphones and he’d never looked back. He always had at least one headphone in at all times. He was also the one who picked up the habits like smoking and drinking. It’s not like they could him anyway.

 He always felt the need to rebel. He understood their training was to make them good and while he never wanted to hurt anyone and he was always ready to help and save, it all fell a little flat on him. He’d seen the evil and while his mind didn’t give images he remembered the feelings of being at the mercy of someone who was evil and maybe he was a little more traumatized than he thought. He didn’t want anyone to hurt like he had, like his family had, but he couldn’t see how being a hero fixed that. They had to fight because they had to be ready for when the Foot Clan came for them and so Donnie also threw himself into it. He pushed just as hard as his brothers and a little more because he struggled to unlock the powers of his inherited Bo Staff. He was an over-thinker and he wanted to make sense of things that didn’t need to make sense.

He’d learned to hit harder than his brothers and followed Raph's philosophy of hit first and when they wake up we’ll ask them what we need to know. He had an ancient wooden stick that everyone was telling him was special. He’d been experimented on so that he could wield said stick but to Donnie it was just another thing that didn’t make sense. Then one day a hefty enemy went for Mikey and Donnie had swung pushing everything he had into it and his boring stick had become the weapon he needed to protect his brother. Not that he couldn’t drop someone with just the stick but now he could control his tech with it and it made sense. It all clicked and he melded both his worlds together to step into himself.

Donnie had always dreamed of making his own company where he could create tech beyond the world's imaginations. You needed a lot of money for that though but thankfully, Donnie felt no guilt stealing Orion’s fortune from underneath him. The man had taken enough from the world and Donnie put the nail in that coffin by turning all the evidence Jasper needed to be free. He created Genius Built Tech and with all the money he’d taken, he grew his company quickly to compete with the big names out there. He did focus on prosthetics in collaboration with Haven Lemos after Leo needed one.

While he continued to help his brothers fight crime that only they could, he took a more remote role as they got older. It wasn’t until a particularly close call made him face the mortality of his brothers that he had the realization that they would be gone one day. It shook him to his core and so he cloned them, because that’s a totally normal thing to do. He didn’t even do biology but he delved into it and thus the Hamato girls came to be. Not quite clones but not exactly normal children, though accidentally girls.

He put his all into raising Diana not only to be a Hamato but to be herself. He balanced being a single father and running his company as well as he could until he let go of the managerial aspect and focused on being R&D.

He still helps Leo train the girls and other students when he can and provides them whatever support they need. He handed his Hamato Bo Staff down to his daughter and went back to his Tech Bo.

1. How did they first meet? At Lydia’s husband’s home, an Oxford mates reunion.

2. What was their first impression of each other? Kenneth thought Lydia was lovely, definitely could’ve done better than Heathcliff.

3. Did any of their friends or family want them to get together? Kenneth’s aunt and brother were suspicious at first, but became supportive after watching them and speaking with Lydia. His uncle and cousin are Team Lydia.

4. Who felt romantic feelings first? Lydia. Kenneth felt fondness then romantic.

3. How many kids do they have, if any? What are they like? Kenneth wants more children, four at most. It would be two boys and two girls. Red hair. Personalities varies, but very active and loved. Malcolm loves being the big brother.

August 26th, the Pikmin 4

Anyways, the actual movie itself. Main criticisms was that it was too on the nose and too expository. Again, is this for kids or adults? Because this made it feel dumb. There should not have been a narrator, I honestly think that the 2001: A Space Odyssey scene would have been so much cooler without the narration, people making their own interpretation. You know, like 2001: A Space Odyssey?! The worst scene in the movie was when Barbie said she didn't feel pretty and then Helen Mirren as the Narrator butted in to say criticise the filmmaker's choice to have Margot Robbie make this point. I hated this for so many reasons. 1, nice lampshading idiot. I was kind of invested in the scene when you had to break my immersion. 2, Helen Mirren is also very beautiful. When women support women, women win. 3, it also just undercut the moment. Even beautiful women don't feel beautiful all the time and it was nice that someone brought it up without being judged, IN THE WORLD OF THE FILM. 4, this got the biggest laugh out of the second audience I saw. That audience was packed but even in the first theatre I saw it in 2/6 people laughed. I really wish the film was more funny. I did find it pretty funny and I didn't think it had the issue of quippy dialogue undercutting the emotion, but all the lines I was smiling at weren't the ones the audience were. I wouldn't consider myself a cinephile, I'm probably on the same level as Doug Walker, but being in a theatre made me realise what like the average person's sense of humour was. Barbie crying about being called a fascist was the funniest line and I wish I hadn't been spoilt on it. Would have had the same reaction as I did when the asshole waiter in Dirty Dancing tells Baby to read The Fountainhead. The second best thing I can say about the movie was the attitude. Even if I think it was messy, we need more movies like this. We need more movies that are serious in their sillyness. The best thing I can say is the acting. I was surprised how much I liked the mum, she was great and also pretty funny. I like that she just has a husband. Although her idea at the end does suck, what if instead of sonic you played as a man who wears blue pants and has to collect rings to pay taxes. Also liked seeing Rhea Perlman. Tax evasion jokes would have been funnier if they weren't played out. Will Ferrell was also really funny. He does have Jewish friends. But Ryan Gosling stole the show. I'm sorry Margot Robbie but I think she's done better acting in every other movie I've seen her in. I do think that Ryan Gosling should win best actor. And now I think he's one of the best actors. Search up "best acting comps" on the internet and you'll find a lot of men screaming. Whilst dramatic acting is great, I prefer comedy. So when someone can perfect both, such as Bryan Cranston in Malcolm in the Middle and Breaking Bad, that's perfection. And Ryan Gosling is now perfection. The Ken song was the best part of the movie. I have more to say on the ideology of the film but I'll save that for later, along with A.I.

But in terms of my actual week, it's been fine. That girl I was talking about at work, I think we're friends now. She's in one of my classes at school and I'm going to play Board Games with her after exams. I also bumped into another coworker at school who I only worked with twice, I think, but he was really cool. Oh, my mum has decided that we're going to stay here. That didn't resolve all our problems though. She's been worried about me a lot, that I'm becoming more detached, more suppressed, unhappy with school, even less likely to stand up for myself. Surprisingly me writing about how annoying it is being surrounded by people complaining about their lives and critiquing mine didn't cause me to have a revelation, talking about it with my mum did. Started crying after I realised that I don't really like talking with my friends. After secondary school I just started losing more and more, they just responding to my messages, and now I'm realising that there's only a few who I can really talk to. Only some that are more than just laughing, something deeper, something real. Kind of like the Barbie Movie! But I have a great life. School is easy, I just don't like it. This is the most stressful it's going to be and I just gotta write a couple of essays. I hope Psych will be more interesting next year. I love my work. Everyone in my personal life seems to enjoy my stories, except those who hate children, maybe I'll share some anecdotes. I do like my friends. It's just tough. I don't know. I don't like complaining. Really, the only thing I dislike is my familial tensions. But I don't want to talk about that. I just want to write about movies.
