    --¡Hola! --dice Carlos, saludando a Felipe. 

    --¡Hola Carlos! ¿Quieres jugar al tenis conmigo?

    Carlos sonrie. --Sí.

    Dos servicios más después, el tanteo es cuarenta-quince. Felipe no es tan malo como él cree. 

    O Carlos quiere que gane Felipe. 

    Felipe está preparando el próximo servicio cuando Roberto pasa caminando, saluda a ellos. 

    --¡Hola, Carlos!

    Carlos saluda a Roberto. --¡Hola, Roberto! ¿Vas a trabajar en las oficinas de salud?

    --Sí, claro. No tengo una vida. --Él sonrie. --¿Guárdame un partido para mí, ok?

    Carlos da un paso atrás. Este no es un tema del que se hable mucho aquí en Querétaro. 

    --Sólo he hablado a él, como, dos veces. No conoce a él muy bueno, a pesar de lo que piensas.

    Carlos sirve la pelota primera de su partido segundo. 

    --Otra vez, él es guapo. ¿A quién le importa?

    --Él también es, ya sabes, un muchacho. --Carlos enfatiza la sílaba última para probar su punto. 

    --¿Y qué sobre Paco? Entonces explica por qué tú conoces todos los hombres en un radio de treinta kilómetros. 

    --¿Qué no entiendes sobre el restaurante, Felipe? 

    Carlos sirve la pelota. 

    --Si eso es verdad, ¿Por qué son todos tan bonitos?

    Carlos rueda los ojos. --Es la farmacia de nuevo. --Él suspire. --Tal vez es porque nosotros en la prepa y jóvenes suelen ser más bonitos que viejos pedos. 

    --No te creo. 

    --Porque es la verdad. 

    --¿Estás seguro? --Felipe levanta una ceja (como Rogelio en episodio 3) 

    --Sí. --Él trata concluir la conversación con otro saque. 

    Ellos juegan en silencio hasta que el partido termine. Carlos gana este partido, y el tanteo es igual. 

    Felipe es un poco mejor en tenis generalmente, pero Carlos puede servir muy bien.     

    Pero ahora Felipe es el servidor otra vez. 

    --Ha pasado mucho tiempo desde que jugué al tenis, --Felipe dice. 

    Carlos toca el cebo. --¿Sí?

    --Sí, no desde que Michael era mi novio. 

    Carlos hace un pequeño sonido. --Felipe, no puedes hablas así aquí. Tú no sabes quién está escuchando.

Hola! mi nombre es María Fernanda Pérez Valdez de la Facultad de Psicología de la Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León, curso cuarto semestre y les vengo a compartir información sobre la situación actual de Nuevo León y su calidad de aire.

La ciudad de Monterrey es una de las ciudades más afectadas por la contaminación en América Latina, pues las partículas PM10 (partículas sólidas o liquidas de polvo, cenizas, cemento, etc.) que se presentan en el aire de nuestra ciudad rebasan los límites establecidos por la Organización Mundial de la Salud (OMS) (no más de 10 microgramos/metro cúbico (10 ųg/m3) de partículas PM 2.5) (OMS, 2021); teniendo Nuevo León hasta 25 microgramos/metro cúbico (25 ųg/m3) de partículas PM 2.5; cantidades reportadas por el Sistema Integral de Monitoreo Ambiental (SIMA).

Algunos de los factores que provocan esta condición son las pedreras, los vehículos y las fábricas, por esto, el gobierno se ha inclinado a prohibir el tránsito de vehículos, mientras que a la industria se le otorgaron facilidades para el abono del impuesto verde, para que así se puedan reducir los índices de contaminación en la entidad.

Deberíamos estar mas conscientes sobre la situación ya que la mala calidad del aire podría traernos múltiples enfermedades, en años futuros y ahora en el presente, afectar nuestra salud en general, así como puede afectar a la flora y fauna de nuestra región, es importante que dejemos de apoyar/ usar productos de las causas de esta problemática y empecemos a tomar acción como voluntariados ambientales como la reforestación para así mejorar poco a poco la calidad de aire en nuestra localidad.

By Emilia María Consuelo Gracia (Her granddaughter): Consuelo was born in Barahona, Dominican Republic in 1925. She was the ninth daughter of 10 siblings. When she was 19 years old, her sister María Montez took her to Los Angeles, California.

She acted in the movie “Pirates of Monterrey” with her sister but she was not interested in acting in more movies because she was uncomfortable with the language.

So she worked as a model for a short time until she married publicist Kenneth Carter and had four children: Kenny Gracia Carter, William Joaquín Carter, Cristina Carter, and James Randolf Carter. In 2010 she resided in Southern California.

"My father Juan José María González de Chaves Dreyer, better known as Hansi by his friends, along with my mother Carolina, are going through the worst moments of their lives due to an unexpected and critical health situation that developed on the other side of the world from their home in Tenerife, Canary Islands.

I am their daughter María Victoria, currently residing in the city of Monterrey, Mexico, where after a year of not seeing them, my parents decided to come and visit me. They had their trip planned from March 14th to April 25th.

On March 31st, while already in Monterrey, my father began to feel unwell, with a lot of fatigue, cough, and difficulty breathing. Thinking this could be a flu or cold, we went to a medical consultation at a hospital where several medications were prescribed. After several days, on April 10th, my father's condition worsened, and he returned to a medical consultation, this time at an external clinic, where he lost all feeling in his right leg for several minutes.

We quickly went to the emergency room of a private hospital, where numerous tests were conducted, and he had to be admitted. They found several clots in his right leg at the groin level, and it was determined that his lungs were collapsed. After two days of being admitted, his symptoms worsened, and he had to be transferred to the ICU. My father's right leg began to lose circulation rapidly, and his foot started to turn black, with a risk of requiring amputation from the hip. His lungs worsened, and after several studies, it was diagnosed that he had diffuse alveolar hemorrhage (blood in the lungs).

He underwent a surgical thrombectomy in his leg to remove the clots; however, it is a temporary procedure that had to be performed due to his critical health condition. My father will require a new operation on his leg called angioplasty and stent placement, which is very expensive and exceeds €15,000, but this is necessary to save his leg.

However, the most serious issue with my father's health is his lungs. He was given numerous medications, in addition to the use of non-invasive oxygen masks, to improve his lung condition. After several days, there was a slight improvement, but after 15 days in the ICU, his lungs stopped improving and remain in critical condition.

Due to the number of days in the ICU, the stress on the body from so much medication, and the critical health condition, the doctors decided on April 25th to intubate and sedate my father so that his recovery would not be affected by his mental health, which, as you can understand after so many days, began to overwhelm and distress him, worsening the situation.

After 20 days in the private hospital, we had to pay a bill totaling €90,000 (1,620,000 Mexican pesos), having to borrow money and incur debt due to the serious situation. My parents had taken out travel insurance; however, the insurance company refuses to cover the policy, arguing that my father's illness was already present in Spain (nobody goes on a trip while sick). Since we no longer have any more financial resources, we had to transfer my father to a public hospital, where the care is not the same, and everything is much slower. We still have to pay for medications and the treatments that are still needed for my father to recover.

I know we all have problems to deal with in our daily lives, but what we are experiencing is something we never thought could happen, and we ask for solidarity and empathy from you.

HERNÁNDEZ, MARÍA L. DE (1896–1986). María L. de Hernández, Mexican-American rights activist, was born in 1896 in Garza García, outside of Monterrey, Nuevo León, to Eduardo Frausto and Francisca (Medrano) Latigo. Her father was a professor. She taught elementary school in Monterrey and in 1915 married Pedro Hernandez Barrera in Hebbronville, Texas; they had ten children. The family moved to San Antonio in 1918 and began political activities in 1924 but did not become permanent residents there until February 2, 1928. On January 10, 1929, they helped found the Orden Caballeros de América (the Order of Knights of America), an organization dedicated to civic and political activities to benefit Mexican Americans and Mexican immigrants, especially in educational matters. In 1933, under the auspices of the order, María Hernández helped organize the Asociación Protectora de Madres, which provided financial assistance to expectant mothers. With the aid of Dr. A. I. Mena, the association functioned until 1939. In 1934 the Hernandezes helped organize La Liga de Defensa Pro-Escolar, an organization dedicated to obtaining better facilities and better education for the West Side Mexican community.…

…In 1970 she became active in the Raza Unida party and in July of that year served as a keynote speaker at its statewide conference in Austin. In 1972 she and her husband toured South and Central Texas in support of the party's gubernatorial candidate Ramsey Muñiz and State Board of Education candidate Marta Cotera. María Hernández died of pneumonia in Lytle on January 8, 1986, and was buried in the plot of the Orden Caballeros de América outside of Elmendorf. She died with the reputation of an "untiring fighter."

Judges' Remarks: This was a competent, solid retelling of the story using hand-drawn pictures, with cutouts of the various characters appearing in front of a variety of backgrounds. The voiceover told the story accurately and quickly. I particularly liked the scene of when the dogs attacked Ramo, that was well done. A no-frills, just-the-facts-ma'am adaptation, with some artistic flair in the pictures.
