Mardigras, tutelary god of the Andouilles in Rabelais' Pantagruel, Book IV. A great grey hog with long wings like a windmill, having scarlet plumage like a flamingo's, garnet-red eyes, emerald-green ears, topaz-yellow teeth, a marble-black tail, diamond-white goose-like feet, wearing a golden necklace and crying Mardigras, Mardigras, Mardigras.

In English this has been translated as "Carnival, god of the Chitterlings", but Mardigras still gets the idea across.

Mardi Gras is just an excuse for Catholics to be gay for 2-3 months. Lent is an excuse to feel ashamed about it. Easter is just when Jesus is like “it’s okay baby I forgive you it’s chill”. And then throughout the year you get a little more of a hankering for fagotry. And it’s sated a bit by Halloween. But not enough. But you have to go see your family so you lock all that shit down. And then Christmas is over and you kissed to many people at new years and your feeling kinda gay and it explodes out and BAM, mardigras time again.
