Listen. every time I rewatch Starstruck (especially the scene between Margaret and Auma) I become convinced of 3 things

Auma tried flirting with Margaret back in college but Margaret never even noticed because she was so hung up on Lucienne

Margaret and Lucienne will NOT last. I don't think Lucienne's quarter-life crisis will end with her developing the same heroic values as Margaret. That and Margaret's role in ruining Lucienne's life will eventually drive a wedge between them once the honeymoon phase ends

Sid will hear that her Mommy and her Aunt Margaret could have been a thing once and will want to Parent Trap them

What I'm saying is, Margaret/Auma is the real sleeper ship of Starstruck and I need more people to understand this

I love a starstruck odyssey it’s one of my absolute favourite seasons and I’ve rewatched it so much it just gets me that barry has the clones, sidney has auma liu and professor edwina castor, gunnie has dora valentine and even captain dan scrap, margaret has lucienne, norman/skip has technically both prilbus and gust weatherall, but riva doesn’t have any backstory npcs/antagonists at all…

obviously the ultimate nat 20 was the casino roll after the battle of the brands. obviously. but, i have a special place in my heart for sid's nat 20 death save when emily called it because ally and murph's reactions were... so good. easily a top 10 intrepid heroes moment.

2. best nat 1

margaret's nat 1 on the forgery when they reached out to auma liu was pretty good, story wise. also, i don't remember if it was a nat 1 or not but when skip was trying to pickpocket the dude in the prison and then they ended up having a conversation about the guy he was inhabiting needing to take care of himself, that was insane. if a nat 1, it applies, but if not, still a good moment.

3. roll you WISH was a nat 20

imagine for a moment that barry and gunnie had rolled a nat 20 in the casino. imagine. would be so good.

4. roll you WISH was a nat 1

i think that brutus the corn cutie should have rolled a nat 1 to not fall off of the platform in the battle of the brands. that would have been very fun.

ok so you know in the bar in the verrry beginning when gunnie is "feeling himself" and lou talked himself into losing advantage on a roll because of the insane thing he said and when sid sprayed "expensive smelling perfume" on him and skip was still learning to speak and barry said "only thing that could take us out was a trip to the zoo"? which prompted emily axford to say "is this the stupidest thing we've done?"? what if that had gone better and gunnie had rolled high on that charisma check. that's it.

Least Favorite character: Honestly can't think of one! To be honest, ASO is not one of my favourite D20 seasons and very few of the characters really stood out to me enough to say that I truly dislike them.

5 Favorite ships (canon or non-canon): The Wurst I don't think I could name 5 ships I really found compelling this season, but I guess I have a vaguely soft spot for Barry Syx/Skip?

Character I find most attractive: Ronnie Kwan

Character I would marry: None of them

Character I would be best friends with: Gunthrie!

a random thought: Kudos to Siobhan for having Riva leave at the end, it takes real confidence as a D&D player to know exactly who your character is and where they're going on the journey and when it's time for them to move beyond the narrative.

An unpopular opinion: No offence for people who really like this season, I just find it one of D20's weaker seasons in terms of story cohesion, character development, and overall setting fatigue. The character concepts are cool, but it kind of felt like they were so caught up in the cool setting that they spent a lot of time pursuing a bunch of different threads? Which is fine if you want a more open-sandbox campaign, but then they tried to tie all the threads together in the last third of the season and it didn’t really feel like it came together cohesively.

My Canon OTP: None, really

Most Badass Character: You have to hand it to Margaret Encino, she's on top of shit!

Most Epic Villain: Eh, Jan De La Vega? Just because her character concept is cool and she feels a little more fleshed out than the other antagonists.

Pairing I am not a fan of: Again, none

Character I feel the writers screwed up (in one way or another): Norman Takamori. Zac salvaged it at the end there, but his treatment in the campaign was really a let down.

Favourite Friendship: I'm sure there was a friendship I liked while the season was airing, but nothing that I can remember now.

Character I most identify with: Probably Gunthrie or Auma Liu, tbh

Character I wish I could be: I want to be as cool as Ronnie Kwan.

COVID-19 Lockdown: Disturbing photos of women ‘tortured’ by police officers enforcing curfew at Ugandan border

On Saturday April 4, Uganda woke up to the gruesome photos of women and men at Elegu border with South Sudan who were pulled out of their houses, beaten and rolled on a muddy ground by security forces under the pretext of enforcing the President’s directives on coronavirus and curfew.

Since March 30 when President Museveni announced the lockdown over Covid-19 pandemic and the night curfew to restrict human movement, security forces comprising Local Defence Unit forces, police, army, and intelligence agencies have been beating up people they accused of defying the order.

The security personnel reportedly used iron bars and sticks to beat the people. The beating of the Elegu women is not an isolated case. Over the last two weeks, a number of similar cases have been reported in other parts of the country.

He said security forces had used a “heavy-handed approach” to disperse the 31 women, described by Uganda Radio Network as sex workers, and seven men.“The patrollers kicked doors open and dragged the occupants out, and some fell in the muddy surfaces. Several vlnerable women and a few men were injured in the process.” Victims reported the incident to their landlady, Beatrice Auma, who took photos of their injuries, Enanga said, adding: “The images went viral.”The injuries included wounds on the women’s thighs and buttocks apparently from caning — a known practice of the Ugandan security forces.

Ms Margaret Auma, the chairperson of Elegu Women Cross-border Traders Savings and Credit cooperative Society, who owns the premises where the security officers pulled out the victims, said at around 7 pm when everyone were in their houses, she heard women crying: “why have you pulled us from our houses to start beating us. What have we done?” She said the women cried but the security forces continued beating them. According to her, the officers kept kicking doors and pulling out mainly women and moved with them up to 1am when they were released.

After the photos of those tortured at Elegu emerged on social media, a joint security task team of senior army and police officers started investigating the alleged torture. Mr Fred Enanga, the police spokesperson, in a press release on Sunday said the patrollers kicked doors open and dragged the occupants out and some fell on muddy surfaces.“Using a heavy handed approach to disperse the occupants, several vulnerable women and a few men were injured in the process,” he said.

Enanga said 38 victims comprising 31 females and Seven males were traced and their detailed statements were recorded.“

One of the male victims identified as Kuma Charles Adigoli suffered significant injuries of a fractured arm and is admitted at the 4th Divisional Hospital at its headquarters in Gulu District, while the rest of the victims had obvious injuries. They were further subjected to medical examination and will continue receiving the best possible support as we fast track their matter to the courts of law,” he said. “The leadership of both the UPDF and UPF, strongly condemns the outrageous and gross acts of misconduct by the officers,” he added.
