I will be attending The Massachusetts Independent Comics Expo next weekend! It’s located on the Boston University campus and is free and open to the public. (Masks required).
I'm doing two panels:
Thursday, 10/20, 7-8PM
Cancel Culture: Banning Books Edition
Boston University, Jacob Sleeper Auditorium
Celebrated cartoonists Maia Kobabe (Gender Queer), Jerry Craft (New Kid) and Jarrett J. Krosoczka (Hey, Kiddo) discuss the challenges to free speech and their best-selling graphic novels. Moderator Joel Christian Gill (Fights) highlights why these works are needed now more than ever.
Saturday, 10/22, 4:30-5:30PM
Up to the Challenge: Celebrating LGBTQIA+ Graphic Novels
Fuller Building at Boston University, Thurman Center Stage
Graphic novels openly and honestly representing sexuality and gender issues have been removed from school curricula and even from library shelves in many jurisdictions around the country. Amidst the controversy, the qualities of the books themselves can be overshadowed. In this panel, we bring together several authors of challenged books with LGBTIA+ themes to discuss and celebrate their work and other favorites. Moderator: Gina Gagliano Panelists: Maia Kobabe, Colleen AF Venable, Laura M. Jiménez
And I will be tabling most of Saturday and Sunday at table 33A! Come by and say hello if you'll be in town :D

This weekend is the Massachusetts Independent Comics Expo -- Saturday, 30 September, 11 AM--6 PM and Sunday, 1 October, 11 AM -- 5 PM. I'll be at the Boston Comics Roundtable's table, which is Table 35 in the Boston Room. My shifts will be 11 AM -- Noon (and possibly 3-- PM as well) on Saturday, and 2--5 PM on Sunday; otherwise I'll be having fun on the MICE floor or at panels or workshops!
We're returning to BU's Fuller Building at 808 Commonwealth Avenue, Boston, MA. Due to parking issues nearby, most acutely on Sunday, try taking the T (BU Central or Amory Street stops on the Green Line B Branch -- check the B Branch Service Alerts) or MBTA Buses #47 or #57. Please see MICE's Plan Your Visit page for more information.
MICE's COVID safely policy this year consists of a masking requirement and several recommendations. Pre-registration for this FREE event is recommended. Stay safe -- COVID levels in Boston area sewage are about what they were in March, and the show floor could get crowded! (Note on the MICE map that there's also a "calm space" where you can retreat from the hubbub for a bit.)

A video I made of my New(d) England tour last Fall! I tabled and modeled at the Non-Fiction Comics Festival in Vermont and the Massachusetts Independent Comics Expo in Boston, as well as modeling for a class at my old school, the Center for Cartoon Studies. Also I went to an aquarium and my friend’s queer wrestling league and did one of those float tanks!
