there are two wolves inside of you. One of them is fretting that you went through all the effort of making a new art account just to pigeonhole yourself once more into a specific fandom, which holds you back from exploring original art concepts that you care about. The other one came up with three separate ace attorney comic ideas in the last hour alone and isn't stopping anytime soon
#laurellala talks#am i unwell? perhaps#i also drew like 5 more sketchy comics i haven't posted#and a full colored drawing i haven't posted bc i'm overthinking if i need to attach comics to it also or post on its own#i want to draw more muppets interactions and come up with an actual theoretical muppets ace attorney case!#they would get to explore the muppet studio as a location aaa it would be so cuteee#and i'm in the middle of drawing a comic of miles and nick video calling and teasing a young trucy (i love trucy)#and i NEED to draw nick and maya interactions from trials and tribulations case 3 it's so sibling coded agh my heart#also i want to draw lisa basil in general the roboty software company lady#i want to design an ace attorney self insert called Laurel Lyre (you're a liar) and draw sprite expressions and character interactions#she would be an art student that Nick knew from college and she was painting a still life of the scene of the crime#and her painting has something different than how the crime scene looked which is used as proof in court#ALSOOO i had an idea for a silly comic of nick visiting miles in germany (platonic coded)#and of either a comic or short story idea of them going out to dinner together. This one is hard to explain but it would be good#I WANT TO DRAW FRANZISKA TOO i have an angst comic idea for her! And i want to draw her as a kid in dance class#i feel like she has so much scrutiny of herself which is very “i was in dance as a kid” coded. Ballet probably#I ALSO have a comic idea of a holiday party that took place before miles' murder trial but after steel samurai case#where miles begrudgingly talks to phoenix to avoid small talk with strangers and they talk about college#specifically like. it is canon to me that phoenix was in an improv group in college. That's where he learned to bluff. he's so silly#i also want to make a comic of the parents at trucy's school trying to sus out how old nick is#since he's only like what 17 years older than her?#I also want to make a gilmore girls joke but i can't tell if this is too dated to be funny. Do people know this show still#i had never watched it before so i just watched like half a season of it just to make a joke. It's cute.#What Else. I have like 5 animatic ideas but i need to ask my friend what she uses to make hers bc in the past I've used imovie on my phone#do not recommend#and if i don't draw everything RIGHT NOW i'm going to lose interest and nothing will get made!!!!!!#andandand I STILL NEED TO FINISH TRIALS AND TRIBULATIONSSSSS#i got sooo far i'm doing so well in the waitress case#i need to finish it so i can finally understand apollo justice and know what the HECK happened in that time skip#ace attorney

Voicemail
Day 6 prompt (600 words) for 10 days to 1K: Voicemail
Fandom: The Pitt
Characters: Dr. Robby-mentioned, Maya Bennett (OC)
—
Maya had been drifting off when her phone started buzzing, the vibration against the desk startling her and garnering the attention of everyone in Professor Church’s lecture. She hadn’t been paying the slightest bit of attention, but all eyes were on her as she scrambled to send the call to voicemail, her heart rate spiking as she noted the name on the screen.
“Sorry!” Maya offered, heat blooming in her cheeks as her professor resumed his lecture. Her classmates’s attention followed, allowing Maya to focus on the voice to text transcription of Robby’s voicemail. By the end of the message, a heavy rock of dread had dropped in Maya’s stomach.
She thought that odd considering she’d spent half the day filled with dread. For a few hours now, Maya had expected a call from the man she thought of as a father, ever since she’d accidentally answered Jake’s facetime, giving him an unintended view of the bruises she’d spent the last four days hiding.
Maya had been so careful—avoiding Robby or Jake or anyone who worked with her dad in the Pitt since Sunday. She had presented herself as exceedingly busy between work and school, easily explaining away the uncharacteristic delays in answering texts and calls.
But she hadn’t been busy with work or school—in fact, Maya hadn’t left the house in days. She’d spent most of her time sleeping and what little time she spent awake, she’d used to manage her absences and keep up appearances. Looking at her phone or laptop for too long made her headache and nausea worse, so mostly, Maya had spent the last few days napping and just getting by.
Thankfully, the nausea had dissipated this morning, only for her call with Jake to make her want to throw up all over again. For the first time in ages, bribery hadn’t been enough to sway her pseudo-brother from tattling.
Maya was actually surprised it had taken this long for Robby’s call to come—she’d talked with Jake just before noon when her roommate had come home on lunch break to help make Maya presentable, covering the bruising with a heavy layer of expertly applied makeup. Either Jake had waited a bit to tell Robby or her dad was having a hell of a day and he was just getting to her now.
She hoped it was the first one.
Robby didn’t usually order Maya around, especially now that she was an adult. She was in grad school. She worked. She’d moved out. She paid most of her own bills, and though she sometimes only took care of “adulty” stuff because Robby gave her firm-ish reminders, she generally managed things on her own.
But as Maya reviewed the transcription again, her imagination delivering the words in Robby’s voice, complete with the assumed tone and pauses and all the little sounds the transcription software didn’t catch, she determined it was very clearly an order and he was very clearly unhappy.
More dread settled in her then which seemed impossible considering how much she already carried. Maya had been considering skipping her last class and heading home for the day, but the voicemail gave her pause. Maya knew she’d have to face Robby eventually, but she needed time to collect herself first. And she wanted to call Jake—to yell at him and to do recon. Even though she could imagine how mad Robby was in general, it was better to know how Jake’s conversation had gone. She needed to know a little more than Robby’s message:
I spoke with Jake. Come to the Pitt when you get this.

GIMP
Ironically the most replies I ever had on Imgur.
OK look here's the skinny on why I don't like GIMP: A long discussion with screenshots
To start with, there's two classes of users:
A: People who never use art apps, don't make art, and maybe tweak a couple of photos for colour balance every couple of years: They love GIMP. They hardly use it or never use it but it's FREE and OPEN SOURCE and they heard Adobe was BAD SOMEHOW because they CHARGE MONEY. They love GIMP. They will die on that hill. GIMP is the best. One day they may even use it.
B: People who are enthusiasts and professionals who actually want to make something and have graphics tablets, strong opinions on CMYK and whether Kyle Webster is over-rated or not. And they don't use GIMP because they tried it and it doesn't do the job.
To go for a comic analogy It's like bystanders telling EMTs their technique is wrong because they saw this Spongebob episode where he used bandaid.
Anyway: Who the hell amI? I feel like I should establish some Bona Fides: not just some random shouty dude. I started out with MS Paint in 1989, then Deluxe Paint Enhanced for PC. I started doing Desktop Publishing with CorelDraw and some non WYSIWYG layout engines. Spent a miserable few years with Quark, moved on to Photoshop... 3 I think. Jettisoned that after it got too bloated (It has a 3D print system inside it!!) In amongst I've tried GIMP, Krita, Clip Studio (Now and back when it was Manga Studio and really didn't want you to use colour), ProCreate, Adobe Fresco, ArtRage, Kai's powertools, 3D Studio (Back before it was Max), Maya, Blender, Inkscape, Serif Studios, Art Studio Pro... I was a graphic designer for several companies, self employed, and worked for Anthrocon doing colour on their badges for around 15 years, as well as creating designs for thier printed work and occasionally keycards, and t-shirts, and designs for badges when they didn't have any art from a GoH. To put it simply I'm not an Adobe Fanboy screeching about people using non-Adobe software. I've seen people who wanted to move to digital give up after buying hundreds of dollars of hardware because they got told GIMP was TEH GOODEST. Anyway...
But every time someone wants to get into art to paint the picture they have inside them, or do some fanart or mess with graphics design, group A crawl out from their bog of incompetence and demand that people use GIMP. Not just suggest it, but actively shout down group B, the people who have experience.
Because Group A would rather push their dogma that paid software is always the wrong solution, than accept that GIMP's frankly shit.
It's just hit version 3.0 after only 30 years. Go team.
Points to note: If you need support for GIMP, the answer is always "Runs OK for me LOL" or "I don't use it but all your problems are because you used Photoshop once." or the good old "Switch to Linux."
In the interest of fairness I'm going to install this new amazing version of GIMP and see if it's any better.
Infamously, the software is so awful that almost all images on Google that you find are pictures of people re-creating the GIMP Logo in GIMP to prove that it is on a par with MS Paint. And it's not a good logo.
First boot:
OK so it opens up a giant panel that tells me I installed GIMP. Presumably a warning. You can't access the actual app unless you've first navigated the splash screen. The app assumes your'e still on an 800x600 monitor. Nice. I suspect the splash screen was supposed to laod over the top of GIMP because... uh... ANYWAY.
Select create Select Make a new image Select a size... hit OK and voila.
Just as a note: Other apps do this in a single panel, or just open the app and let you hit File > new > Select size and bit depth & colour space... which GIMP also skipped.
OK so I'm using a mouse. so let's do a test line then find and turn on the stroke smoothing. Wow!
... This is worthless! Looks like the smoothing amount doens't do anyting, you have to tweak the other option on a scale of 0 to 1000.
For those of you playing at home: That makes no sense, because everything else is 0-100.
Also brave choice to make sure that when you pull up the settings they replace the brush palette... on the opposite side of the screen, and give you no way to switch back.
The setting which are incidentally locked, making them... double worthless.
Fun trivia! If you mis click at the bottom of the brush palette, on the left, it just deletes your tool preset! Genius. Sticking a button for a process you'd almost never do, next to the Undo/redo icons. Chef's kiss. Perfect UI design.
I hear they're making a car. The 'explode fuel tank' button is next to the switch that turns the headlights on. You may ask why they have an 'explode fuel tank' button. Yes. You may ask.
Now having created a text label, I somehow am not allowed to draw outside the text label. This is not normal.
There is no Unselect option at all in the selection menu. Escape does't do it. Hitting option/alt pops up a messages saying there's no selection to remove:
... despite there being a selection to remove.
GIMP's infamously mazelike right click menu that copies the taskbar menu is still around:
Why have one set of menus when you can have two of every menu?
Not pictured: The giant tooltip that pops up and covers the thing you're trying to click on. Seriously, I couldn't get a screenshot of it.
Back to drawing...
Apparently the solution is to create a new layer. One text object is still text, the other randomly rasterised itself and locked the selections to it's own boundary box. That is sub-optional or "entirely stupid, who wrote this garbage?" if you're being formal.
These guys. That's who.
Still got a maze of options including 'Y not use PYTHON to make a pic‽"
At this point I notice that the vibrant red I pick in the colour picker is showing as desaturated orange in the screenshots. Which is weird because it's supposed to be 8 bit sRGB, aka the basics. But somehow this has been fucked up - GIMP: "Colour accuracy? But Why?"
Let's try an export. a mere four or five clicks later...
... where the hell is it? Let me try that again...
OK. Uh. Great. A third visibly different shade of red to the one I drew with.
At this point, I'm done. I could learn to use the tools easily. I could dig through the manual and look for whatever ass backward UI decision lets you resolve it's inherent flaws like rasterising text at random...
... but if I tell it to use 100% red and it insists on using some buggy kludged system that outputs it to a different shade, then why bother? Nothing you do will come out looking the way you intended.
Meanwhile Clip Studio's over here doing 100% of everything you need for amateur or enthusiast or even pro level art (I created one of Anthrocon's T-shirts in Clip Studio), and it'll run on a tablet and let you draw on $400 of hardware or a desktop and a graphics tablet.
And if by some goddamn chance you got all the way through this, send me a boop in the notes!

So The New Writers are the Problem???
(Im sorry if this doesn’t really make sense)
⚠️Spoiler warning for those who haven’t seen Season 6!⚠️
So Season 6 has started and is the start of the show’s 2nd arc after 10 years. Due to the software they were using (Maya Animation) being outdated and stopped working, the animation has changed from the previous seasons we know and is now being animated entirely by Dwarf Animation Studio. Some of the characters designs have changed and everything had to be redone done from scratch.
Now with season 6 airing and the first episode that was aired was Episode 2 “The Illustrhater” which basically shows Marinette struggling with couple things with Adrien.
This doesn’t make sense like now she doesn’t know how to hold Adrien’s hand, engage in simple conversation with Adrien, and doesn’t know how a relationship works all of the sudden nor knows how to go on a date alone with him. It’s very inconsistent with season 5, the episode makes it seem like they have just started dating when they’ve been dating for a few months now in-universe so they should be more comfortable with each other at this point.

Now let’s get into “Sublimation” Episode 3.
So Marinette is on the balcony spying on Adrien and a new character named Sublime with binoculars. She’s wondering how they don’t talk when they’re running as she thinks it’s impossible. Alya is next to her and suggests to Marinette that she thinks Marinette is a little jealous of Sublime which Marinette denies. Now we see her in her room pulls down some calendar of pictures and information about Sublime (more than likely from the internet) she talks about how she thinks she will never be able to measure up to her and thinks that the friends of Adrien should be her friends to and thinks that it only takes one time for her to make a good first impression so Alya leaves her to it and leaves.

All episode, Marinette is trying to be friends with Sublime and follows pretty much everywhere instead of you know, just walking up to her like a normal person and asking her if she wanna be friends 🤦♀️.

This doesn’t make sense. She has never done this with any other character nor as far as we know, never had a problem with making friends. Also why is Marinette still having this jealousy problem, this should’ve been over in Season 5, why regress her character into her unhinged s1 self, it’s like she feels so off in her own show like what the hell?
She tries to find multiple of ways to be her friend like getting her chopsticks, trying to get her a string for her instrument, etc. All of these things like it’s so confusing.
Now let’s get into that Adrien and Sublime scene

Adrien and Sublime are in Ancient Greek class and they’re talking and Sublime tells Adrien
Sublime: “Don’t turn around, there’s a girl with pony tails behind you hiding behind a plant, could she be your girlfriend by any chance?”
Adrien: “Yeah, that description sounds fitting “.
Marinette behind the plant goes
Marinette: “he’s talking to her, she’s talking to him which means they’re talking! Could Adrien have lied to me?”
Tikki: “maybe because they’re in the same class”
Marinette: “Oh no, they’re speaking code, which means no one could understand them”
Marinette, girl. It’s called human interaction omg.
Sublime asks why has Marinette been following her around all morning and Adrien respondes with “ Oh, don’t worry about that, I think she just wants to be friends and get to know you but, it’s not always that easy for her”
Uhm really writers, wdym “Not easy for her?” As I can recall she never had any problems with making friends before this but sure.
Sublime goes “How unique” and Adrien replies with “ That’s Marinette for ya” um no. It’s called inconsistent writing choices.
Now we’re going to the bathroom and locker room scenes.
So now Sublime is putting her prosthesis on and Marinette is outside the locker room saying
Marinette: “ She’s been in there for 20 minutes hasn’t she? Maybe she’s encountered a problem? Yes, yes, she probably needs help from a friend, Im going in.”
Tikki: “Wait, Marinette!”
Marinette: “ What is it?”
Tikki: “We don’t even know why we’re here.”
Marinette then goes “Alya was right from the beginning, I’ll talk to her, hide Tikki” well duh!
She goes inside the locker room, wonders where she went and as she looks for her, she finds Sublime’s prosthesis and she goes
Marinette: “An Akumatized vilain disintegrated Sublime, leaving only her prothesis behind”
She then tries to transform until Tikki stops her with
Tikki: “ Marinette! Maybe there’s a more logical explanation”
Tikki. Thank you.
Marinette goes inside the bathroom and then Sublime comes out the stall then Marinette slides into one of the stalls then Sublime gives herself some kind of pet talk or whatever
Sublime: “ I know you’re in here. I know you’re hiding, lurking in the shadows, ready to leap out and stop me from winning. But I won’t let you! When you come, I will be ready, and I will overcome you. No one can stop me from getting what I want. Especially not you!”
Sublime, girly are you talking to demons?
Once Sublime walks out the bathroom, Marinette slides out the stall and thinks this is about her and says
Marinette: “She’s hates me because she can’t have what she wants. What does it mean? She’s in love with Adrien!”
Man what😐🤦♀️🤦♀️ Writers I thought we were over this in Season 5, just plain stupid.
So now Marinette’s back in the locker room and says this
Marinette: “ She’s coming back to overcome me!”
So then, Marinette grabs a mop and gloves and spills a bucket of water and soap and is dressed in some ridiculous outfit and Sublime comes inside the locker room and sees Marinette
Marinette: “ Hahaha! Im Soapnator and not at all Marinette Dupain-Cheng! I hate dirt and clean everything in my path!

So Marinette basically pretends to be akumatized in this scene however Sublime is not falling for it not one bit.
Sublime: [Walks into the soap] “Listen, Marinette or soapenator, I’ll happily have a chat with you after my trial, okay? I really don’t have time now, so wait for me here. Do not move and do not follow me!
So then Marinette decides to transform into Ladybug to prove that her as Marinette was akumatized for real 🤦♀️.
Save my girl Marinette from this show, Marinette baby, I’m sorry these writers are doing you this way, I know you would never do anything like this had there be better writers in that room😔 it’s not you, it’s them who I’m mad at, you and the rest of the characters deserve so much better😕🫶🏾
Now we’re on to the track scene
So Sublime is getting ready to run but before she runs, her dad, Séverin goes to fix her right prosthesis and then her mother, Caroline tells her that she’s her champion and that she’s Sublime.
Now Sublime is now about to start her run and as she’s running, soap starts to come from the prosthesis, nothing happens until Ladybug shows up in front of Sublime and asks “where is the akumatized villain? Where is Soapenator?” And this distracts Sublime and causes her to fall and break her prosthesis.
Writers wtf.
Sublime goes
Sublime: “ Everything’s okay, Ladybug. It’s just Marinette Dupain-Cheng.”
Well fucking great, another one of Marinette’s obsession issues leading to trouble just for cheap drama🤦♀️.
Ladybug: “ Marinette Dupain-Cheng?”
Sublime: “ Yeah, she’s a girl from my school. She pretended to be akumatized and disguised herself as soap-bucket-ator or something. My friend Adrien explained that whenever she likes someone, she starts to act peculiar. Which means she likes me, I guess. So, there’s no danger. Im not hurt. Everything is find.”
This is when Ladybug realized she fucked up.

Caroline is trying to ask Bob Roth for a second chance but Bob is like “Time is money” and then Caroline gets akumatized into Sublimation.
Then we have the fight bla bla bla
As the fight happens, Sublimation is saying to Ladybug that she ruined Sublime’s trial in which Ladybug is apologizing and that it was an unfortunate misunderstanding and tells her to reject the akuma and promises she will fix everything. All that, all that, Sublimation throws Ladybug into something.
This episode basically points Ladybug as the villain and then in the middle of the fight, her lucky charm is a mirror which calls her out.
Instead of Sublimation being the villain since she’s akumatized, it’s Ladybug, she’s the villain of this episode due to her fucked up mistake and the Miraculous Ladybugs not only fixed the damages caused by the villain, it also fixed Sublime’s prothesis which is new.
Ladybug then apologizes to Sublime for ruining her race
Ladybug: “ I sincerely apologize Sublime, if I hadn’t shown up, you would have finished your race, your prothesis would still be intact, and your mom would never have been akumatized. “
Ladybug: “ Miraculous Ladybug!” [Fixes the things caused by the villain and fixes Sublime’s prothesis]
Hey, she apologized so I will give her that.
Once Ladybug and Chat Noir left, Sublime finished her race and all that stuff.
And now we’re back in the locker room
Sublime walks inside the locker room and Marinette apologizes
Marinette: “ Im sorry Sublime, I should have just come talk to you. But I was afraid I wasn’t good enough. I hope you’ll forgive me.”
Sublime: “ Apology accepted. I know what it’s like to put pressure on yourself. Is it true you wanna be my friend? “
Marinette: “ How did you know?”
Sublime: “ Adrien told me.”
Marinette: “ Then you two talk while you’re running?”
Sublime: “ Not while we’re running. It impacts the breathing. But outside of that, of course Adrien and I talk.”
Okay they make up yeah yeah and end card show Adrien, Marinette, and Sublime having ice cream.
Whoever wrote this episode either hasn’t watched all of season 5 or clearly has something against Marinette.
This is more than likely a writing issue more than anything with the new writers which is why I’m choosing to count this and ep2 and 4 as not canon as it doesn’t make sense with season 5 and shows that they don’t know Marinette’s at all.
Now Episode 4, “Daddycop” (hate that name ugh🤦♀️)
So Marinette plans to have her 100th kiss with Adrien on the same day her and the girl group have the sleepover at her house.
In the cafeteria, Marinette pulls Adrien to the side and do some measurements and stuff and Adrien goes to kiss her but she insists that he kiss her on the cheek as she wants to save that for their surprise evening.
The girls are basically talking about what they’re going to bring to the sleepover and brings it to Marinette’s attention and it seems like Marinette has forgot and then drags Adrien away.
Now about Sabrina
Sabrina is sitting alone in the cafeteria as she has no friends and Zoe notices that, so she tells the girls to go without her, they leave and then she walks over to Sabrina.
Zoe asks Sabrina if everything is okay and if she needs to talk. Sabrina replies with
Sabrina: “ It’s just that I’ve lost my only friend. Even though I know Chloe didn’t really care about me, now I’m trying to make new ones, but I just can’t seem to. When I see all of you, it’s clear to me that I don’t belong in your group. And why would I? I was so mean to everyone. Deep down, I always knew none of it was right. But I genuinely love Chloe. I thought she’d change eventually. I know it took me too long to find the courage to stand up to her and know I’m paying the price. You girls will always see me as Chloe Bourgeois’s minion. Maybe I should leave, go to a different school just like she did.”
Zoe then tells Sabrina that she’s not Chloe’s minion anymore and that she knows how much courage it took and then asks her if she would like to come to a movie night at Marinette’s.
Sabrina then goes to say that Marinette would never want her there as she was Chloe’s favorite victim and both of them bullied her for years but Zoe says that Marinette’s a great girl and tells Sabrina that she will say yes.
Now back to Adrien and Marinette
So now we see Adrien and Marinette outside with Marinette doing his measurements. Adrien asks Marinette if she has forgotten about movie night with her friends and Marinette denies again and talks about it’s a surprise and says “why have to choose between bffs and boyfriend when you can enjoy both at the same time!” However Adrien refuses and goes
Adrien: “When you decide to do things with people it’s to spend time with just them Im not sure your girls movie night would feel special to them if I was there for a romantic evening at the same time, that’s why I’m not coming “
Adrien the man you are🥰
Marinette then goes to that bathroom saying that it would be a complete disaster if Adrien didn’t come and all that yeah yeah yeah then Marinette’s says that if she could get the girls to agree, she can change Adrien’s mind.
Now to the girls
The girls are sitting at some table in class and Zoe walks to them and ask them if they would if they invited one more person over to the movie night. Alya says “Totally, expending our group is a cool idea “ and the rest of the girls were also with and said they would invite others and Zoe went that she would invite Sabrina and the girl were kinda eh yeah no.
Alya: “I mean there’s already a lot of us and uh Marinette’s room is so tiny”
Juleka: [idk what she said only heard beds]
Mylène: “And after everything she and Chloe did to us”
Zoe: “Girls Chloe was the problem.”
Kagami: “Well Sabrina was her hitch girl “
This is funny because Kagami barely even knows Sabrina lmao
Zoe goes on to say that without her, they wouldn’t be free from Chloe today and now she’s all alone (womp womp) Alya tells her to ask Marinette since it’s her place after all.
Zoe sweetie I love you and all but girl you haven’t been here enough to know the extent of Chloe and Sabrina’s bullying as you’ve only been in Paris for like 6-7 or so months
Zoe leaves the class and sees Marinette and asks her if she has seen Sabrina and Marinette says yes and then Zoe goes on to say if they could do something for and Marinette goes yeah for sure. Marinette then goes inside the class alongside with Zoe and asks the girls if they would mind having an unexpected guest who doesn’t fit the definition of the girlfriends group joining the movie night and the girls agreed.
Zoe took that as Marinette talking about Sabrina (in reality she wasn’t)
Miscommunication omg
Marinette tries again to try to change Adrien’s mind and get him to go to the movie night but he refuses once again lol.
Adrien: “Marinette, this 37th idea isn’t going to change my mind either.”
Marinette: “But the girls agreed.”
Adrien: “No matter how you plan it, you won’t really be with your girlfriends or with me. Let’s just see each other tomorrow. It’s no big deal. Enjoy your evening with your friends.”
Once again, Adrien being the green flag he is💚
Adrien kisses Marinette’s cheek and leave then Sabrina goes up and hugs and thank Marinette in which she’s confused.
And Marinette still has the 100 decorations up even when he said he wasn’t coming. Girly I love you but girl come on, one day won’t hurt baby, my favorite weird delusional girly🥰 I love you🥰💗
The girls feel like something is off and not adding up with the decorations and stuff. Alya goes to check on Marinette on that balcony and Marinette’s acting like nothing’s going on and then the door bell rings in which Marinette assumes it’s Adrien so girly defines the laws of physics and goes to the door and opens it just to see Sabrina.
Marinette: “Sabrina? What are you doing here?”
Sabrina: “Im here for movie night.”
Marinette: “But who invited you?”
Sabrina: “You did.”
Marinette: “What? No, I invited Adrien “
Miscommunication on both parties. Marinette should’ve been a little more attentive and Zoe should’ve been a little more specific.
The girls are rightfully confused with Marinette on the balcony which is justified because why would you bring your boyfriend to a GIRLS night? You got every other day to hang out with him so I don’t feel bad for Mari in this instance since he literally told her that he wasn’t coming and she still got her hopes up and still did the 100th thing so that’s completely on her, she did that to herself.
Had she been more listening and less Adrien obsess and Zoe would’ve um yk been specific, none of this would’ve happened.
(Also she wasn’t mean to Sabrina at all, she was just confused (Again, this wouldn’t had happened if she had just listened to Zoe) plus Sabrina doing one good thing doesn’t make them friends nor erase her participation in bullying either)
Roger gets akumatized yeah yeah (Lila is so kind😍)
The akuma fight happens yeah yeah okay then Miraculous Ladybug yay ok next
Now we’re back to Marinette’s room and we get apologies from both Sabrina and Marinette
Sabrina: “I would like to take this time to apologize to all of you. I know I wasn’t always nice to you girls, but I’ve changed. And if you’ll accept me, of course I’d be happy and proud to be your friend.”
Marinette goes on to say that everyone makes mistakes and tell Sabrina that she was a victim of Chloe too and Marinette then apologizes as well
Marinette: “And I too wanna apologize. I’ve been focusing so much on my relationship with Adrien that I forgot to give my attention to the ones who really needed it. I promise, I will be more attentive from now on.”
Sabrina is officially welcomed to the friend group and all that stuff.
And then Adrien and Marinette share their 100th kiss😍💗

Okay now let’s talk about the inconsistent writing in these episodes because there’s a lot especially with Marinette
So it was said that season 6 has gotten new writers for this season in which they write the scripts while the previous writers write the narrative arcs. Episodes 2,3,and 4 are written by the new writers which kind of explains a lot of Marinette’s cringe behavior and her being like her season 1 self alongside with other inconsistencies with the writing itself (which this falls to the new writers either not knowing Marinette’s character as of season 5.) The new writers seem to only know mlb on a surface level and the writing for s6 started when s5 was still airing.
However, in “Werepapas”, Ep 5, Marinette seems to be aligned with her s5 self and the episode is written by Thomas and Sébastien. There’s no cringe behavior from Marinette nor is she being crazy about Adrien unlike the previous episodes, she actually seems to act like a normal human being in this episode and play the role of a supportive girlfriend. So I would say that Marinette’s behavior is more of writing issue than a character issue.
And that’s all I have to say ☺️

Hey! You can 3D model!! Anyone can! It might look daunting but blender is really worth learning even if its just the basics and its super fun too ^-^ you got this!
Sadly I do know the basics, but I still have a ton of issues. I’ve taken classes in college (I think two courses, we were learning maya) and I’ve done some self teaching in blender. But it’s still just so confusing to me 🤷♀️
My main issue is that it’s extremely tedious and confusing. I go through a long difficult process that I don’t really understand and what I get for my troubles is a blocky thing that I could have drawn in two seconds. I thought practice would make it less tedious and confusing, and therefore become more fun. But sadly the information slides off my brain so I haven’t been able to improve really, which makes it hard and boring, which makes me want to use it less, a vicious cycle
I think maybe what I need to do is keep searching for software and methods that are more intuitive to me. I’ve heard good things about paint 3D and iirc that’s more drawing based

Hello! I was recently enrolled in Full Sail (Game Art). I was just wondering if you have any advice for moving forward? It's definitely tough since it's really all new to me.
Hey! Somehow caught this in the sea of spam that gets dropped in here. I really need to be more active.
This is a long one, so buckle in.
And for everyone else, I'll be back in a greater capacity soon! Been crazy busy, but you can catch me on my community discord if you'd like to say hi!
First things first. Networking. Take every opportunity at your disposal to get to know people who do what you love doing and are better at it than you. They can offer you so much opportunity for growth and feedback to expedite your work.
Two. They won't teach you every single tool to optimize your workflow. Start watching YouTube videos on Maya plugins, Blender workflows, and hidden Unreal Engine tools. I've found so many neat knick knacks just dabbling on my own. (They didn't teach me booleaning! Wild!) Oh, and figure out what you'd like your discipline to be early, and have artistic reference to back it up. For me, I want to lean into stylized WoW-esque hand painted models and Half Life inspired realism for my scenes. Having a solid direction amplifies your work and portfolio ten fold.
Three. If you can play with the workflow or software early, do so. The game art program has one of if not the most hours required for class work of any program at the university. There will be days you hate it and want to quit- persevere. Get the very best models, UV layouts, texture detail you can, those skills can only serve you later. This can also go back to that first point- talk to your peers and instructors for advice on how to optimize your workflow, because there's always ways to do things more effectively. I find modular and mirror based workflows to be especially helpful for what I do as a 3d environment artist. And on that note, TALK to your instructors. They're there to help. They can offer suggestions to lighten the load on projects and still get amazing results, ESPECIALLY Chops, the visual development instructor! He's fantastic! The sooner you know him the better.
Finally, circling back to the first point again, if you'd like to get in touch, reach out to me on Discord and I can offer some help!
Also wow! I'd really like to know how you found me, haha. Hope this helps, and welcome, Sailor!

Surprise! That experiment with underwater lighting effects was just another one of my remakes all along!
EXCEPT THAT IS A TOTAL LIE, AND THIS IS A DE-MAKE.
I REPEAT: THE CRAPPIER VERSION IS THE NEW ONE HERE.
Yes! Purely for funsies, instead of taking one of my old renders and making it GOOD, I took an already good one and made it BAD.
Well, okay, not "bad." I just tried to make it look like something I could have made when I was first learning how to use 3D animation software. And I mean FIRST learning. I only allowed myself to use the techniques I learned in my first couple weeks of Maya animation class in 2009.
Only the most basic modelling techniques. Primitives, extrusion, edge/face/vertex manipulation, translate, scale, rotate, duplicate. No modelling from a reference, no consideration of poly count, topology or deformation. (Not that any of those would have been needed for this particular scene anyway.)
Only the most basic shading/texturing.*
No fancy lighting setups. Just moving the default light and changing the brightness and/or color. (We did learn how to add new lights, but never really went over how to actually properly light a scene.)
No fancy camera stuff either, so no depth of field and no FOV adjustment. I also stuck with Maya's old default of 640x480 resolution, even though plenty of my oldest renders were higher, so I definitely knew how to change it.
*There were a few slightly more advanced (for a beginner) techniques I allowed myself to use for this exercise because I figured them out on my own by just poking around in the software during class. Therefore, basic noise generation and bump texturing were allowed.
It was kind of fun to give myself so many restrictions, and it took a little longer than I would have expected because Blender's defaults kept making it look too *good.*
Honestly? I don't think the de-make even looks all that bad for how deliberately amateurish I tried to make it. If I had made that during my first semester of animation classes I feel like I would have been pretty genuinely proud of it.

📕🍾 8.10.2023 - An anxious sunday and peer pressure from modeling my academic studies.
Sorry for not posting anything on this studyblr blog yesterday. I just have bought the old lenovo laptop for my 3d modeling class in the evening. I was practicing a little bit before I needed to figure out why my bottle was black. What did I press on a keyboard??? OMG, there are so many new things I’m struggling with and classmates are really professional than me. Actually, I’m better than yesterday when I couldn’t download the maya software on mac and felt worried for the homework. Some moments I thought that I would be a loser whether I let the time pass away without doing anything. But that’s okay, I can do it now.
I saw a lot of people liking my baking post yesterday and it surprised me a bit too much. Thank you, I will keep learning and making things better on my life to show you. Sure, I can tell. Guys, hope you have a wonderful Sunday night and an energetic filling tomorrow . Love you 💋

Essential Animation Skills to Build a Creative Career

Animation is more than just moving drawings or computer-generated models—it’s about breathing life into stories, characters, and ideas through motion. In today’s fast-paced and evolving media landscape, animators are not only visual artists but also storytellers, tech-savvy creators, and problem-solvers. Whether you're aiming to work in film, gaming, advertising, or web content, having the right mix of creative and technical skills is essential.
The demand for skilled animators is growing rapidly as animation continues to shape how we consume content across industries. From 2D explainer videos and 3D films to augmented reality and interactive VFX, the field is booming—and so is the competition. To stand out, aspiring animators need to hone a mix of foundational and emerging skills.
1. Strong Understanding of Motion and Timing
At its core, animation is about timing and movement. The ability to understand how things move—whether it's the bounce of a ball, the flick of a tail, or the sway of a tree—is crucial. This comes from studying physics, body mechanics, and natural movement.
Animators must grasp the 12 principles of animation, first developed by Disney, which include squash and stretch, anticipation, staging, and more. These principles still hold immense relevance today, even in digital workflows. Mastering timing helps animators create natural, believable, and emotionally resonant sequences.
2. Drawing and Observation Skills
Even in an era dominated by 3D and CGI, drawing remains a fundamental skill, especially for 2D and previsualization work. It sharpens your ability to visualize movement, capture poses, and plan compositions.
But beyond drawing, observation is the key. Animators must train their eyes to notice subtleties in human behavior, gestures, and expressions. This helps in crafting performances that connect with audiences on a deeper level.
3. Storytelling Ability
Whether it’s a commercial, short film, or game cutscene, animation exists to tell a story. That means every animator needs to understand story arcs, character development, visual pacing, and emotional cues. Storyboarding is often the first step where this storytelling skill is applied.
Understanding how your work fits into the bigger narrative is essential—especially when collaborating with writers, directors, or game developers.
4. Software Proficiency
Today’s animators must be comfortable working with a range of industry tools. These include:
2D Animation: Adobe Animate, Toon Boom Harmony
3D Animation: Autodesk Maya, Blender, Cinema 4D
Compositing and VFX: After Effects, Nuke
Game Engines: Unity, Unreal Engine
Each platform has its strengths depending on the medium—film, television, gaming, or online content. Having a working knowledge of multiple tools, or mastering one deeply, is often expected in professional environments.
Many aspiring professionals now enroll in an Animation course in Bengaluru to gain hands-on experience in these tools while learning from industry mentors. The region is becoming a vibrant hub for creative learning, with growing access to world-class instruction and studio internships.
5. 3D Modeling and Rigging Basics
Even if you're not aiming to become a character modeler or rigger, understanding how 3D models are built and rigged will help you animate better. Knowing the limitations and possibilities of a model allows you to work more efficiently and avoid frustrating errors later.
This knowledge also improves communication with modeling and rigging teams, making production smoother and more collaborative.
6. Acting and Emotion
Great animators are often great actors. They may not perform in front of a camera, but they study body language, expressions, and how emotions manifest physically. This helps them convey character and intent without needing dialogue.
Reference videos—where animators film themselves acting out scenes—are a common technique to get expressions and timing just right. Understanding how to portray joy, anger, surprise, or sorrow through movement is a powerful skill.
7. Adaptability and Learning Mindset
Animation is changing fast. With the introduction of AI-driven tools like Adobe’s Firefly, Runway Gen-3, and automatic lip-syncing plugins, animators need to stay adaptable. Rather than fearing new technology, successful animators integrate it into their workflows.
Continuous learning—through online tutorials, workshops, or short-term courses—is now part of the job. Those who embrace evolving tools while staying grounded in foundational principles thrive the most.
8. Collaboration and Communication
Animation is rarely a solo endeavor. Even freelance animators need to collaborate with clients, voice actors, editors, or producers. Being able to take feedback, communicate ideas clearly, and meet project goals is just as important as creating beautiful frames.
Soft skills like teamwork, punctuality, and open-mindedness can often determine how often you get hired or rehired.
9. Basic Sound Understanding
While animators aren’t usually audio engineers, understanding how sound complements visuals can significantly improve project quality. This includes timing movements to music, planning around voiceovers, and leaving space in action for sound effects.
Increasingly, even entry-level animators are expected to sync animation with audio layers in simple motion graphics or product explainers.
10. Portfolio Development and Presentation Skills
In a competitive field, your portfolio is your passport. Animators should consistently update their showreels with diverse work—from character animation and motion graphics to lip-sync scenes and effects-based shots.
Equally important is how you present that portfolio. A short, well-edited reel (60–90 seconds), a personal website, and a brief write-up of each project go a long way in attracting opportunities.
Industry Update: Global Trends & Indian Momentum
The global animation market is projected to exceed $600 billion by 2030, driven by demand for web series, mobile content, gaming, and AR/VR experiences. In India, streaming platforms like Netflix and Amazon Prime are investing heavily in locally produced animated series. Game development studios are also scaling up, creating demand for animators with real-time engine experience.
In a recent report by FICCI-EY 2024, India’s animation, VFX, and post-production sectors saw a growth of 30% in just one year. Studios are hiring across cities, and training programs are evolving to meet this demand with job-ready curriculums.
This shift is especially visible in creative clusters where animation education is flourishing. Institutions offering vfx course bengaluru are now including real-time rendering, AI-assisted effects, and virtual production modules—equipping learners to contribute meaningfully from day one. The region’s proximity to tech hubs and a strong creative community is fostering a new generation of animators ready for global opportunities.
Conclusion
To thrive in animation, aspiring creators need a blend of technical ability, artistic insight, and professional readiness. It’s not just about mastering software—it’s about understanding movement, storytelling, and emotion. The most successful animators combine foundational skills with a willingness to evolve, collaborate, and continually create.
With the industry witnessing significant growth and innovation, especially in rising creative centers, those pursuing a vfx course bengaluru are tapping into a future-forward skillset that prepares them for a dynamic and rewarding career.

Think about the question:
What Makes You Employable?
It is my opinion that the employability of a person depends on several aspects of the individual. Aside from technical skills and experiences that a person may carry, their personality, work ethic and the way they carry themselves amongst others as a member of society need to be taken into account as well. Without one skill, the other is often fruitless.
As of now, I am studying as a student, and is expecting to enter the field of design and animation. I believe that I am employable in this field due to the knowledge I have gained during my educational journey. I am proficient in digital art software such as Photoshop and Autodesk Sketchbook and Krita. I've acquired a significant amount of knowledge in industry standard software such as Maya, Zbrush, Unreal Engine and Premier pro.
Considering personal skills, I believe that I am good at conducting research, and meaningful designs and stories. I also believe that I'm methodical, organized and good at managing my workload, and meeting all the required deliverables within the deadline. I'm good at carrying my weight in a group setting and working as a mediator. I'm also good at adapting to obstacles that I face especially when it comes to software. I'm open to learning and educating myself and developing new skills and techniques.
