The Mershark & Mermaid - Part 2

Sakura knew she shouldn’t be doing this.

“Your back?” The mershark trailed around her, his glowing red eyes peering right through her soul. The same eyes she gets lost in and likes to watch whilst they-

“I said I would be.” Her hands traced his chest with a smirk.

What would stop him from eating her once he was satisfied?

Her brain was telling her, no, to be rational but her body moved on its own as did his when his lips descended upon hers grasping the back of her head and roughly pulling her closer.

His tail wrapped around her small frame.

“Where’s Sasuke?”

Sakura froze at the voices nearby but then his fangs moved down to her neck grazing it and distracting her.

“You're his best friend, shouldn't you know?” Another voice cut in. One was a white shark whilst the other was orange.

“Yeah but the bastard's been more distant than he usually is. It's like he's distracted or something.”

Oh, how right they were.

Sakura licked her lips letting out a low moan as his claws glided down her tail.

“Shh, you don't want them to see you like this do you?”

At least they were well hidden.

“What the hell happened to your back?” Sakura knew she should have healed herself before coming back home.

It was the perk of having Tsunade as her mentor and was the reason she was able to keep the meetings between her and Sasuke a secret for so long. Not every mermaid had the ability to heal.

“Uh…it’s nothing. I got caught up in a current that’s all.”

“Right, like I believe that. Seriously forehead, they look like claw marks. Did you almost get eaten?”

“No! I told you-”

“Sakura, there is no current. We both know that. I'm your friend, you can trust me.”

It wasn't like she would blab about something like this anyway, not with how serious the matter was.

“I went to see him.” Ino knew fully well who the 'him' in question was.

“And by seeing you mean…”

“We… we mated...” Sakura fidgeted with her hands watching as Ino's eyes grew wide taking in the information.

“You did what? Your crazy forehead. He’s a shark!”

“So?”

“So? SO?! He’s a predator.”

“He's different from them, he saved me!”

“Oh, you mean from that time you almost got yourself killed because you wanted to explore the deep sea. Sakura he’s using you.”

Admittedly it had been a thought that crossed her mind, what shark would mate with a mermaid with no other intentions in mind. However, Sakura still sneaked off to see Sasuke.

The visits never started off as anything inappropriate, she was curious about him and although he had often referred to her as an annoyance he would answer her questions and humour her.

Of course, neither had made their little friendship public. If either of Sasuke's friends or family caught on, she would be their meal. Yet somehow Sasuke always managed to put them off their scent.

If he wanted to eat her, he would have by now, right?

“And okay, let’s imagine he doesn’t plan on eating you. What are you expecting out of this? For him to make you his official mate? Your only setting yourself up to get hurt.”

Perhaps Ino was right, but what could she do? She couldn't just end... whatever it was they had.

“Besides there's plenty of fish in the sea, why don't I introduce you to a few. I'm sure they can distract you.”

Them distract her from Sasuke? If only, maybe then Sakura wouldn't be in this situation.

“Sakura this is Hiroto, Hiroto Sakura.” The blonde was pleased with matchmaking her friend with such a fine merman, better than any shark for sure.

“A pleasure to meet you Sakura-san, Ino's told me a lot about you.”

“Likewise.”

However, when Sakura awkwardly smiled shaking his hand she swear she could feel eyes glaring daggers at them. Or maybe that was wishful thinking on her part as Sasuke never leaves the deep sea.

“You shouldn’t be here Princess.” The sinister smirk didn’t go unnoticed by Sakura from the white male shark and Sakura felt pale. How didn’t she feel their presence?

“It’s rare for mermaids to swim this deep underwater. You must either have a death wish or be really stupid. Works for me.” Normally Sakura would blow up at such an insult but fear overtook with the three of them surrounding her, she was as good as done for.

Why did she go back?

“Hey, Jugo, what’s your favourite part of a mermaid.” He laughed menacingly as the two circled around her.

“Urgh, don’t make too much of a mess.” Was all Karin said, however, something seemed… off? First of all, why was a mermaid down here in all places?

It was almost as if she had been there plenty of times and had been expecting someone.

Then there was her smell, Karin had smelt it before.

She smelled like-

“Wait, Suigetsu don’t-”

Too late, because the next thing they knew Sasuke had Suigetsu's arm in his claws and was ready to snap it in two.

“Sasuke?”

“Don’t touch her!” He snarled glaring daggers at the shark. “She's my prey! Understand?”

All he could do was nod dumbly and when he finally released him Sasuke turned his attention to Sakura.

“You, follow me.” She wasn't really sure what to make of his attitude but being with him was safer than being with them.

“Gee, what was that for? He could have said something sooner.” Suigetsu scowled muttering to himself. Karin decided to keep quiet, they may have been dense and believed Sasuke but she knew it was far more than that.

Sasuke would probably talk to her about it later.

“What were you thinking?”

“I’m sorry, I didn’t realise they were…”

“You should have stayed back home.”

“I… I know.” Sakura looked down ashamed, she usually wasn’t so distracted but everything Ino had said. From what she wanted out of this and finding someone else...

Except no one could make her feel the way Sasuke does.

“But I wanted to see you again.”

“See me? Why? Isn’t your merman enough?”

“My… my what?” So it wasn’t her imagination?

“You came to see me?”

“You haven’t been here for the past few weeks, what else was I supposed to do?” Ah, so he did care. Inside she was happy but also dreaded. What did this mean if their feelings were mutual?

“We should stop this...” Yet her body betrayed her and Sakura found herself leaning towards him.

“We should.” Then why was his tail wrapping around her? This was too dangerous yet neither made a move to stop it.

Meanwhile back in the present, little Sarada was asking Sasuke a ton of questions.

“I have so many questions, what kind of food do we eat? If I’m good my Mama makes my favourite seaweed spaghetti. Will I grow as big as you? What’s it like being a shark? Are there others too, is this where we live? Why hasn’t my Mama taken me here, she said it’s full of pre…pre…preditators and that there are a lot of creatures that want to eat me? Do baby sharks get eaten a lot?”

Yup, she defiantly took after Sakura.

Mermay 2024: Sakura Haruno

This Naruto Mermaid AU is for Mermay 2024 and featuring Sakura Haruno and Sasuke Uchiha.

A pink hair mermaid with a green scale fish tail follow a black hair merman with a gray scale fish tail. Hiding from view from him, the mermaid said to herself, "Okay, Sakura. Calm down. This is the merman that you have a crunch on since childhood. Don't act like a creep here." Sakura soon swim to the merman and introduced herself, "Hey, my name is Sakura. Nice to meet you."

God of Storms Au - Non God Immortals

Suigetsu

Role: The first Merman.

Animal: JellyFish (chosen with help from @howdoesoneadult @yamanaka-shin and @magpie-senpai )

Symbol: Suigetsu is often depicted wielding a large sword much like Zabuza’s, as well as being depicted submerged within puddles.

Birth: During a spat with Rin, Kisame slammed his sword into the water in a fit of anger. From that strike, Suigetsu sprang to life and immediately made it his life goal to be a problem for both Kisame and Rin. A goal which he is often very skilled at achieving.

Lore: While it was from Kisame’s anger that Suigetsu was created, it’s his more carefree nature that the merman embodies. Preferring to explore the land, Suigetsu becomes adept at changing himself into water so that he can mix into his environment while still being able to survive.

Suigetsu also takes extreme joy in traveling down through the ocean into the underworld where he’ll pop up in the lake that goes through Sasuke’s domain just so he can visit (and annoy) Sasuke.

Suigetsu can also often be found hanging around with Karin and Jugo, though Karin likes to act as though her life would be better without Suigetsu in it (she’s lying but she’ll never admit it).

The ability to turn into puddles was actually a gifted ability. One that Orochimaru gave to Suigetsu in exchange for an artifact kept in the ocean far from their clutches. Suigetsu got into a ton of crap from Kisame and Rin for stealing it for Orochimaru, but they did ultimately get it back with a lot of help from the other gods, and Suigetsu got what he wanted. The ability to travel on land in a way that’s safer for him.

Love: TBD

Karin

Role: Immortal created by the gods, but non-god.

Animal Companion: Jackle

Symbol: Giant chains that she can produce out of her back and bite marks all over her body, as well as her oval glasses.

Birth/Creation: Created by Mito, Karin was a gift to the mortal world. An immortal capable of walking among mortals without having to disguise herself, as well as being capable of healing mortals by allowing them to bite her.

Lore: When she was first created, many mortals attempted to take advantage of Karin’s healing abilities. They forgot that she was meant to be a gift from the gods and chose instead to chain her in a dungeon and use them to heal wounded soldiers and ill monarchs.

It was Sasuke who ultimately came to release Karin from her imprisonment. Although Orochimaru did try to get their claws into her and almost succeeded, Sasuke chose to intervene and appeared disguised as a mortal to trick the guards. An immortal herself, Karin saw through his disguise and recognized him immediately. When she asked why he was helping, Sasuke offered her a small smile and told her that he couldn’t sit back and watch as mortals abused a gift.

With her new found freedom, Karin chose to go travelling through the world. She had every right to distrust and hate mortals, and there are certainly times when that distrust shines through. However, at her darkest Karin always remembers that smile that Sasuke gave her and chooses to hold onto hope while she keeps moving.

Not one to stay in one place, she’s known for going from village to village. Sometimes she can be found helping those in need of aid, and at other’s her giant chains can be spotted wrapping around those who have tried to wrong her. Wringing the life out of them slowly, or simply chaining them to a rock or tree where Karin leaves them to suffer until someone else finds them, or until they perish.

Love: One-sided love for Sasuke/TBD

looked up jpn mermaid myths quick for mermay, instantly hit by an au idea that i will never write because there is no way im doing that much research into the edo period.

but anyway it was said that consuming a mermaids flesh would make you immortal so i was instantly thinking, the uchiha as merpeople that were hunted to near extinction for their flesh (what is it with the cannibalism this week). in some regions it was also said that mermaids had red hair, making me think of the uzumaki, that wouldve succumbed to the same fate. but of course before that miss kushina had a forbidden affair with minato and now theres halfie naruto running around not knowing his origins or that he can change forms. minato was also murdered for trying to keep a mermaid ('s flesh) to himself. naruto grows up shunned for being the son of a traitor.

i guess youd have sasuke sign a dubious contract with the sea witch orochimaru, cliche i know, to become temporarily bipedal and hunt down the people that murdered his family. itachi is not at fault for once but he left sasuke behind to do the exact same thing as sasuke is planning to and sas hasnt seen him in years. sasuke has to return before his x birthday to give his body to orochimaru (so he can consume it for power), or he will die from the poison curse whatever orochimaru has placed on him. sasuke of course doesnt plan to return he just wants revenge and to see his brother one more time. sasuke hasnt wanted to live for a long long time anyway.

and then of course youll have naruto and sasuke meet and clash, then grow close. eventually youd have a scene where naruto is drowning, probably in some convoluted situation after trying to help sasuke, and sasuke isnt fast enough to fish him back up. when sasuke eventually finds the resolve to dive down for narutos body, he instead finds an unconscious blonde merman at the bottom of a trench.

Tsuruhime falling in love with the merman that saved her from drowning, Kotaro giving his voice to Matsunaga to be able to walk on land, Kasuga and Sasuke somehow getting roped into helping Kotaro fulfill Matsunaga's demands before his time runs out.

Team Taka Matsuri Day 1 (not following the prompt): The Circus AU "Cirque de mer"

A new attraction has appeared in the mythical circus that only appears at the stroke of midnight under a new moon, and it's reported to be none other than a creature from the depths whose bone marrow is rumored to be able to cure any disease. In which Suigetsu is a merman, Karin is a necromancer, Sasuke has secret powers, and Juugo is the unfortunate dock worker who gets caught up in their dangerous quest to take down the biggest threat to people like them: Danzo (who is a power hungry, elitist monger). Don't worry, Juugo and Sasuke still fall in love it's just not the main focus of the story

-- I've been sitting on this one for a while and figured now is as good a time as any to let it free. It's still in developmental stages (it's been there forever lol) but here's a snipped anyway because I want to share:

"You're from that strange circus on the edge of town". It wasn't a question. "Why on earth would you think that?" Karin snapped. Juugo shrugged and went back to stacking the large sacks of grain on top of each other. "No one dresses like that around here" Karin was about to protest, opening her mouth and then closing it again. She glanced at Sasuke, waiting for him to lead them elsewhere since the tall man clearly wasn't going to be helpful. She was surprised when Sasuke stepped forward. "Maybe you can help us," he started "we're new to this city and need someone to show us around". He was using the voice he used to persuade their audience to cooperate with the show when they wanted to back out. It was a tone no one had resisted yet. Juugo didn't look up. "There's a tour company on Main Street" He wasn't unfriendly, but he also wasn't enthusiastic about getting himself involved with strangers. clearly. "It will be worth your while" Sasuke tried. Juugo dropped the last sack and straightened, looking each of them over before meeting Sasuke's gaze. "How. didn't you guys run away?" he rested his large hands on his hips "the way I see it, I have a lot more than you do right now" Sasuke clenched his jaw to keep himself from rolling his eyes. this man was difficult. "Look," Suigetsu spoke up, stepping out from behind Sasuke. He moved forward with difficulty, the volume of the fabric around his legs and ankles from the borrowed skirt tripping him up even though he was doing his best to hoist the fabric away. "just let us stay with you for one night and then we'll be gone" Juugo exhaled forcefully and ran a hand through his thick, wheat colored hair, glancing up at the sky. He supposed one night wouldn't be bad... "Fine," he consented finally. you could hear the resignation in his voice. "But I don't have space for one lady to sleep comfortably, much less two" Everyone blinked back at him. "Two ladies?" Suigetsu looked around, confused, before he realized what it was he was wearing. "Oh no. no no no. I'm not a lady." he waved both hands in front of him as if it would help dispel the misunderstanding faster. "I'm just. . .borrowing some clothes" Sasuke rolled his eyes. "We left in a hurry" he explained, not that that really explained anything. Juugo made an 'ah' face but said nothing, deciding not to ask any further. "I can take it off". Suigetsu moved to the buttons on the front of the borrowed dress and began to undo them "No--" Sasuke, Karin and Juugo all chorused. "please leave it on"
