I think it's very telling that he wants to branch out from the mafia by producing the antidote for the harmful drug that pavel supplies.

clearly, as we've seen, the antidote takes away the dependence a user would have on the drug, which would reduce the demand for it & thereby the income.

this isn't about making money.

ryu si-o wants autonomy over his own decisions, and the path he chose was to create something that would help people, when he could've chosen any other route to make money & gain power.

hey yall i blacked out somewhere in the middle of watching this show but i think this is the gist of it: sio told nam soon his plan and nam soon, ignored whatever the hell she was told to do, instead said "hey man, pretty fucked up plan u have there, i think youre better than this" and sio had a long hard think about it and decided that yea having love and care for another human being made him a stronger and happier person than droogs did i hope this helps
