HOW THE FUCK DO I SPELL HIS NAME
Tumblr media
You waited on the steps outside your apartment as you pressed on the unread message from sio on your phone.
"Are you ready? I'm reaching soon," Sio's message read as you tapped on your keyboard, sending a response back.
"I'm outside my apartment, waiting," You sent back.
A grey bubble appeared as sio typed quickly, "I told you to not stay outside alone. Many people are after me, I don't want you getting pulled into this mess".
You smiled softly at the evident worry in his message as you heard the sound of a car pulling up in front of your apartment. You lifted your head as you saw the familiar car that sio used to get around. The door on the opposite side of where you were seated at opened as you stood up, dusting your bottom as you saw sio, in his signature black suit as he smiled.
"Did you wait long?" Sio asked as he opened the door on the side closer to you, motioning you to get in as you took a seat in the car, giving sio's assistant a smile as sio entered the car, sitting next to you.
"I promised you we'd go out on a date when I returned to Korea, so everything today is up to you. You can choose for us to go skydiving and we'll do it, if you want to pick worms, we'll do it," Sio said as he slipped his hand into yours, rubbing the back of your hand with his thumb.
You thought about it as you chose two activities you'd like to do with him.
"Maybe not skydiving. Instead, how about we get canvases and paint? then we can go for dinner or I can cook," You suggested as Sio nodded, turning to his assistant as he said, "Drive us to the nearest art store, then drive us home".
The man simply nodded. You turned to Sio excitedly as you asked, "So what have you been up to so far? I'm sorry I didn't get to see you at the airport when you returned... my boss made me cover for another worker out of the blue. "
Sio hummed as he thought about his adventures since he came back to Korea.
"Well, I joined a heritage club, and I'm doing normal boring office stuff, that's about it. How about you love?" Sio switched the topic quickly as you thought about it.
"I got called in for a job recently, for CEO Hwang Geum Joo! Isn't that exciting?" You told him as your face was plastered with a big smile.
Sio's smile faltered slightly, his eyes switching to the mirror at the front, making eye contact with his assistant as he nodded, "That's good. Are you nervous?".
"Hmm.. well... not really! I think I have a pretty good chance at this job! and there's a lot of benefits, so I'll have more rest days," You admitted as the car turned into the front of the art store.
It had been a while since you had gone to one and Sio... well he had no time for things like that.
"I told you, you don't have to work. Let me pay for everything," Sio said as you shook your head. "I need to be independent too. What if I wanted to buy a house or something," You asked him as he turned to you, bending down slightly as he whispered, "Then I'll get it for you".
He knew his affect on you, and it didn't take long for a red flush to creep up your neck.
"Let's just... go in," You changed the topic as you led sio into the store, your hands still connected as the worker in the store greeted, "Welcome!".
You walked around with sio as you got to the aisle with different canvases. There were big ones, medium sized ones and small ones. You hummed as you look through the different canvases, trying to think of a project you could do together.
"What if we get a big one and we paint on it together? Then we can hang it up in your apartment," Sio suggested as you turned to him.
"Then you won't have one..." You sighed as you tried to think of something. A lightbulb lit in your head as you grab two medium-sized canvases and put them together, side by side.
"If we paint on them like this, it'll be one complete painting, then we each take one!" You said happily as you stared at the two canvases.
Sio was busy staring at you, smiling as he watched your eyes crinkle and your cheekbones rising when you were happy with your decision. Sio rested his chin on the top of you head as he said softly, "You're so smart. My girlfriend is so smart, I'm lucky."
You laughed as you responded, "You're just as smart. Don't boost my ego too high."
Sio took the two canvases from your hands as you walked to the paint section. Different varieties from water colour to acrylic paint were available there. Your indecisiveness began kicking in as you were torn on what colours to get.
"You can't decide on the colours, right?" Sio could practically read your mind. He bent down as he took a look at the small cans, looking at the colours that could compliment each other.
"Let's get this set, it looks like there's a lot of varieties so we won't have to decide," Sio said as he picked up a set of 8 colours.
Sio wasn't even looking at the price tag as he simply grabbed what he thought you'd need to paint while you were kind of worried if his wallet would survive. Who were you kidding? He's a ceo.
You grabbed a set of brushes as you ushered him to the cashier, not wanting him to look at anything else.
The cashier was stumped as she gulped, amazed at sio's height. She grabbed the items, scanning them and placing them into a plastic bag as she pressed a few keys on the cashier.
"That'll be 24,000 won," the cashier stated as sio took out his wallet before taking out his black card to pay. He tapped his card on the payment machine before taking the receipt and the bag.
"Let's go?" He said as he linked your arms, walking out the store as his assistant took the items from him, placing them in the back as the both of you made your way back home.
Sio played some music from the playlist the both of you had put together when he came back and sat down next to you as you taped the two canvases together. You wore a plain black shirt that Sio had lent you to prevent your outfit from getting dirty, while sio had on his normal black t-shirt and black jeans.
"What were you planning on painting, dear?" sio asked as you showed him a photo on your phone.
"The photo I took for you overseas?" Sio asked, unsure, as you nodded. "I was having a hard time at that point because you were so far away, but that picture was so beautiful, it's even my lockscreen," You said as you showed him your screen.
He smiled as he sat next to you, getting a paintbrush as he took some paint, "should we start?".
The both of you painted in silence with the occasional 'is this right?' or 'how do i paint this?'.
The painting was about 90% finished when sio suddenly placed his paintbrush down, placing his elbows on the table as he watched you silently. He felt as if he fell in love once again as he watched you like a little high school boy meeting his first love. He had spent too long away from you and he couldn't deny it.
"Why did you stop painting?" You asked as you looked at him. "I was busy admiring my painting," He said as he reached out to caress your hair.
"I think... it's finished!" You happily said as you removed the tape connecting the two canvases together, seeing the two separate paintings come together. "We did a good job, love. Where should I hang this?" Sio asked as he took his side of the painting, looking around his apartment as you pointed to his room.
"How about there? Then I'll put mine up in my room too, so when we wake up, we'll see our painting every day," you suggested as sio went to the kitchen, opening the bottom drawer to get a hammer and a nail as he knocked one nail into the wall, hanging the painting as the both of you looked at it.
Sio placed an arm over your shoulder as he pulled you close, placing a kiss on your head as he said, "It reminds me of you."
You chuckled as you responded, "It's supposed to remind us of each other".
The both of you never got to eat dinner as you fell asleep on the couch, head on sio's lap as he brushed your hair out of your face, leaning back as he also fell asleep.

Secrets (Part 2)
Tumblr media
Part One
Word Count: 872 words
Pairing: Ryu Shio x Reader
************************************************************************
"I'm involved in mafia..."
Y/N was completely speechless, she did not see this coming. Shio was still holding her hand while kneeling on the floor beside the sofa she sat on.
"What?" she whispered.
She quickly removed her hand from his grip, Shio felt hurt.
"You have to understand I did not choose this, I was rather forced to join this field just to... survive," Shio said and hung down his head, as if he's ashamed.
Y/N did not say anything, she was just trying to process everything Shio was saying.
"Tell me," Y/N spoke after a while, "everything about you, I don't want anymore surprises," she said bitterly.
The dim light in Shio's office cast long shadows on the walls, creating an atmosphere of tension as Y/N confronted him about his involvement with the mafia. Shio's usual confident demeanor falters as he uncomfortably sat in the sofa beside her.
"It all started when I was a kid. The Russians took me in, and I was trained against my will. I never wanted any of this, Y/N. They brainwashed me." Shio started hesitantly.
He continued telling everything sparing no details about all his past traumas and up until the drug that he invented for Pavel.
Y/N's eyes widened as she processed the revelation. The weight of the truth hung heavily in the air.
Y/N sighed, "How could you hide this from me? We were supposed to be a team."
"They're dangerous people Y/N, I didn't want you to get involved in this mess. I was trying to protect you," Shio replied desperately.
Y/N stood up, her emotions swirling. Without saying a word, she walked out of the office, leaving Shio alone in the darkness.
Shio glanced at the clock; it was late, and concern etched his face. He started running after her and pleaded her to wait.
Y/N took a shaky breathe and looked behind him, the tall man approached her and said, "Y/N, it's late. Let me take you home."
Seeing her hesitation, Shio gently said, "I promise I won't push you, but it's not safe for you to be out alone right now."
Reluctantly, Y/N nodded, appreciating Shio's protective instincts. The car ride home was silent, but the quiet reassurance of Shio's presence began to ease the turmoil in her mind.
-
Shio began driving, the silence between them was thick. Y/N stared out of the window, processing all the newfound knowledge she found tonight.
"Y/N, I understand if you can't forgive me," Shio said sadly.
"Not now, Shio. I need time to process all of this."
Shio nodded understandingly, he longed to touch her hand. It always brought him comfort. He was scared that he won't be able to do it again if she breaks up with him.
When they reached their shared home, the atmosphere was heavy with unspoken words. Y/N headed to the guest room without looking at Shio. He stood in the hallway, aching for her presence.
Shio felt like his world was crashing down. As soon as he reached their shared room upstairs, Shio closed the door and collapsed while sobbing. He wanted to this pain in his heart to stop, it was too much to handle, the grief was consuming him.
The same thing was happening to Y/N just downstairs in the cold guest room. Both of them longed to be in each others arms.
Both of them could not sleep.
-
The morning light spilled through the windows, signaling a new day. Shio found Y/N in the kitchen, her back turned to him. He approached cautiously, unsure of how she would react.
"Hi bab-, Y/N," he cleared his throat.
Y/N rushed forward, wrapping her arms around him. The warmth of her hug cut through the cold tension that had settled between them.
Shio stumbled back from the sudden hug but quickly hugged her back tightly.
They both began sobbing, scared to lose each other.
"I need time, Shio. But I don't want you to leave." Y/N spoke through her sobs.
"I understand baby, I'll give you all the space that you need."
Their lips met in a lingering kiss, a silent promise of healing and understanding.
"Shio, can you leave that world for me?" Y/N asked hesitantly.
"Yes," he replied in a heartbeat, "God, yes, I can't ever lose you, I am ready to leave that."
"You have to, you can change, I know you, and you said you were forced, but baby you can start fresh, you can leave the dark world and start an honest and clean one," Y/N spoke gently.
Shio teared up, he finally felt a sense of relief, he nodded tearfully.
Y/N said, "I'll be beside you when you start again, I will be with you from the ground up."
"It will take time but I promise starting from now I will slowly yet urgently cut ties, just be patient baby, I promise to leave that darkness."
Y/N smiled at him before kissing him again. As they held each other, they knew the journey ahead would be challenging, but the love that bound them was resilient.

surprise surprise! i've come out with a sequel 'fic to 'for what binds us' — think second-chance romance with heat, slow-stoked intensity & a whole lot of crime & intrigue. this story will involve elements & plotlines from 'when the phone rings!'
(see if you can guess which parts. :P & yes; the WTPR drama ending was terrible & tone-deaf and none of that will be included. & yes; as customary – there will be an LR cameo!)
plot:
seven years after her wedding to reformed mafia kingpin ryu shi-oh; nira lee's life is in shambles. walking on the shards that remain of her marriage to shi-oh; nira is convinced that their love is a thing of the past - their relationship built on nothing more than cinders and smoke. disillusioned and heartbroken; she still cannot bring herself to hate shi-oh or the story they both shared for one brief, golden moment in time. yet when a freak incident causes nira to believe that shi-oh no longer even cares whether she lives or dies; this one-time-deadliest of all agents decides that she must gain her freedom from the death of her marriage once and for all - no matter what she has to do to get it. but will shi-oh let her go so easily? is all truly as bleak as it seems? and can love; once longed for and lived so wholly between two people: truly disappear? only time will tell...
check it out! :) https://archiveofourown.org/works/65214454/chapters/167752987

'in the name of pain and outrage'
an analysis of the ending
I say this with utmost love, but episode 16 was a shitshow.
i walked into this show accepting it at face value – a show that would take itself lightly, with a compelling subplot marinated in humor, and a dose of sweet romance.
this show tried to include very mature, sobering themes with slapstick humor, which is definitely possible if balanced properly, but i feel this show was not able to achieve this the way do bong soon or others could.
to get some of the discrepancies out of the way:
they never told us that the women's senses were connected, geum joo should not have been able to feel namsoon's thirst – that's something they abruptly added to fuel the tension of the situation.
there is absolutely no reason nam soon would react like that to the drug, when you compare it to how every other user was affected by it.
the strength exerted by gil-joongan did not feel like enough to knock her out like that
and with how easy it would've been to leave the situation, it's very obvious that nam soon taking the drug was an ill-planned way to raise the stakes and increase suspense
the homeless couple truly had nothing of value to add to the show or it's message
none of the show's themes or messages were delivered properly towards the end, and it went against everything it preached.
the immediate tone change after ryu si-o's death did not do any justice to the effort put into his characterization
i do not understand how nam soon became a cop, all technicalities considered
why was she throwing humans out a window from the second floor, even if they're criminals??
they REALLY cheapened the whole marriage conversation by bringing money, property, and heirs into it. that was NOT romantic or wholesome. hee-sik deserves better parents, tf.
side note: i'm pretty disappointed with namsoon's character arc, but lee yoo mi worked within the purview of the script to give us honestly wonderful acting, especially in episode 15.
now, to get into the ending, i'll start with this:
what we got, felt like an empty victory. hollow and out of place.
i've always been an advocate for all parts of a show coming together to create an experience – there's usually no single keystone.
but as soon as si-o died, the rest of the episode felt like a blur, with all loose ends being succinctly wrapped up and prepared for season three. byeon woo seok, and his characterization really carried the show as a unit, and added to its cohesiveness. i did not find myself rooting for geum joo and nam soon's successes afterwards
because they had failed the ONE thing most of us had been hoping for them to do:
to save people who were victims of oppression from those with the power of money, and empower them, including to save si-o from his oppressors, and help him take down pavel.
there is no satisfaction in geum joo doing it by herself, because she has no emotional investment in destroying pavel.
losing hwaja and si-o, watching namsoon & heesik become one dimensional all of a sudden, and seeing tertiary unrelated characters having their loose ends tied, is extremely unsatisfactory – for a show that had an incredible cast and so much potential.
at the same time: i loved the portreyal of gil joongan's mission to help the elderly and her enthusiasm for her future, and the addition of binbin + looking into their past from an additional angle also really elevated the emotional context of si-o's character arc.
i loved each character, truly, and to not see the plot and writers give them the detail and care they deserve, is wholly disappointing.
the show took me on a whole journey, emotionally,,,but to know exactly what would make it better, and be aware of its discrepancies makes me grieve the potential it had to truly leave an impact on its viewers, with a solid takeaway message.

As my research deepens, the greater the expansion of my new Roman Empire: Byeon Woo-seok as Ryu Shi-oh.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
JTBCDrama literally confirmed via IG account that Ryu Shi-oh FELL IN LOVE with Tsetseg.
Much is said that he only wanted her by force, but Tsetseg was not Gang Nam-soon. He also didn't know about the power of women. So why would Shi-oh look at Tsetseg with anything other than coveting his power other than with affection? Why wouldn't he fall in love?
Tsetseg and Gang Nam-soon were not the same person. Tsetseg challenged him, she was bold and seemed not to feel uncomfortable around him. She listened to him and showed compassion for his sad life story.
And, I still make room to comment on Ryu Shi-oh's stance. When he was around anyone else, he always walked around with his hands in his pockets (which can be considered a disrespectful gesture in Korea). Even when he hit the Delivery Man, he had his hand in his pocket.
Beside Tsetseg, he always had his hands exposed. He treated her as an equal and even as a superior (he sleeps in her presence, proving that he had trust in her to guard him in such a vulnerable state).
I'm not trying to justify the character's actions, but it's unfair to treat everything as black/white. Ryu Shi-oh was a character that had several layers. He was a Psychopath (although I don't agree with the definition in JTBCDrama itself) and could fall in love with Tsetseg.

The nerve of gang nam soon, the pampered kid with FOUR parents who would do anything in their power to provide for her, who has not ONCE in her existence felt an ounce of loneliness, who's trillionaire mother would rip the world inside out for her, who discovers capitalism and has the realisation that the world isn't cotton candy and bubbles but actually evil for the FIRST time when she's 22 yrs old; the nerve THE NERVE of that girl to chastise Ryu Sio, an orphan abandoned by the world, who was used and abused by the mafia, forced to murder people at 6 yrs of age, used like a puppet, torn between a war inside him, who not once in his life received the chance to be human.
Hwang geum ju is a filthy hypocrite with her "people can change if they're given a second chance", where was your magnanimous-forgiving-second-chance giving spirit when you were dealing with someone being forced by one of the most powerful mafias in the world to distribute drugs? As for Gang nam soon, I've never hated a main character as much as I hated her. How could you turn around after someone tells you they've been abused their entire life, trusted no one, and were forced to do terrible things to survive, and call them a bastard? Does nam soon not have an ounce of empathy in her hypocrite body? The parallels between Nam soon eating lunch in a villa with her two mothers and relatives who love her more than anything else in the world and the scenes where Sio sat alone in the place where his orphanage stood? And knowing that despite being abandoned by his parents which resulted in him being abused for years he understood that his biological parents were probably not in a position to provide for him and tracked them down and provided for them? And all this for the drama writers to just include a scene where the main characters on their romantic stroll to muse once about how different ryu Sio would have turned out if the world had shown him an OUNCE OF KINDNESS? Like you guys are seriously telling me that this thought did not occur ONCE in gang nam soon, daughter of philanthropist and believer of goodness of people Hwang geum ju, that this man opening up to you about his traumatic childhood and life and the fact that he does not want to die being controlled by an evil mafia could possibly be a better human if he recieved the chance? This drama could have explored a complex relationship between Sio and Nam soon, where she recognised that he was really a victim of society's evils, Hwang geum ju could have helped Sio escape the clutches of the mafia and they could have taken down this organisation together, but no instead the writers decided to make a drama chock full of loopholes, cringe dialogue, predictable and boring plot "twists", a painfully one dimensional male lead, and a forced romantic relationship between the main characters who had ZERO chemistry. From a kdrama fan who LOVED strong woman do bong soon and only and only started this drama because of bongbong and minmin's 5 minute cameo, I'm beyond disappointed. It ruined my year ending (almost)

Look. Ryu Si-o is my favorite character.
They literally spent this whole episode talking about how smart and educated and intelligent Pavel is. And you know why? Because when they were focusing on Si-o they sure as fuck couldn't show it.
That man has never had a crush before and it shows. He's like big CEO mafia man killing people on the daily but sure. I'll take this girl ik very little about and show her everything. I won't suspect her for things she obviously did. I'll take her word on everything. She's so charming and cute and stong, she can do no wrong, except on my behalf ofc 🤭🥰

Hii 💛💛,sound very odd but can you a imagine where the reader & Ryu shi oh have kids, a cute lil family.
A Sunday At Ryu Household
Pairing: Ryu Shio x Reader (married)
Word Count: 885 Words
A/N: Thank you for requesting this one shot, hope you like it!
************************************************************************
The kids: Twin Boys (Kai, Sooho -aged 7 years), One girl (Mirae -aged 5 years) and One boy (Timmy- aged 3 years)
-
The sunlight filtered through the curtains signaling another new day. Y/N stirred awake and felt the space between her to be empty, she was confused, where was her husband?
She reluctantly got up from bed and headed downstairs, the aroma of something delicious filled her nose as she approached the kitchen.
There was Shio, wearing an apron over his last night's pyjamas. The apron was a gift from his kids from father's day. It had "Best Daddy In The World" written in blue color with bold arial font. Shio loved it and wore it whenever he cooked.
"Hello mister," Y/N said leaning on the kitchen door.
"You're awake," Shio smiled over his shoulder looking at you.
Y/N went closer to him and he flipped the pancake before placing it on a plate. It was already stacked with lots of pancakes. He then turned off the stove before turning towards her.
"Good morning love, did you sleep well?" he spoke softly while tucking her hair behind her ears.
"Like a baby!" she smiled.
"Go wake up the kids, I'm making a special breakfast," Shio smiled.
"What's the occasion for this special breakfast?" Y/N wondered.
"Does there need to be one? Every day with you is special." Shio winked.
"So cheesy," Y/N snickered.
"Only for my love," he placed a gentle kiss on her forehead before returning on making omelets.
"Smells so good, I will get the kids," Y/N said.
Shio was done plating and set the table up. He made nutella filled pancakes, cut up some fruits, made omelets, fried sausages and mushrooms, and made freshly squeezed orange juice.
Shio looked at the table proudly before setting the plates.
"Daddy!" Shio heard little voices and the smile on his face grew wider.
"Oh are we having pancakes?" Kai asked excitedly.
"Yes we are!" Shio smiled. Y/N came behind them while holding their youngest son Timmy.
Kai, Sooho and Mirae took a seat in the table beside each other, Y/N put Timmy in the highchair before going to sit beside Shio.
Shio served them all the food items before saying, "Dig in!"
The family sat down and enjoyed a delightful Sunday breakfast. Kai and Mirae shared stories from school. Sooho talked about his friends.
As the day unfolded, the family engaged in various activities. Shio, being the doting father he was, played games with the kids, their peals of laughter echoing through the house. Y/N watched with a heart full of joy as Shio chased the little ones around, their giggles creating a melody of happiness.
Shio helped them build blocks buildings. Kai and Sooho began running, so Shio gently warned them, "Be careful with those blocks, okay?"
The kids were very tired yet happy by lunch time. After a hearty meal, the kids went for a quick nap. Shio and Y/N enjoyed a cup of coffee while enjoying the quiet atmosphere of the house
"Do you remember when I proposed?" Shio reminisced fondly.
"Of course, the way you planned a scavenger hunt, it was truly iconic," Y/N giggled while twirling her wedding band.
"I was so nervous, I yelled at my poor secretary because you were running late," Shio recalled.
"Such a meanie you are, that man adores you though," Y/N smiled.
"Yeah at this point he is family too," Shio chuckled.
-
As the sun began its descent, casting a warm, golden glow over the living room, the family settled down to watch a movie. Shio lounged on the sofa, Y/N nestled against him, their children sprawled across the floor with blankets and pillows. Timmy was on his portable cradle.
"Best part of the day, isn't it?" Shio said softly.
"Absolutely. Sundays are my favorite when we're all together like this." Y/N smiled.
Shio wrapped his arm around Y/N, pulling her closer. The kids, feeling the cozy atmosphere, snuggled against their parents. The movie played on, but the real show was the love and togetherness that enveloped the room.
-
After the movie was finished, the couple took their children and bathed them before tucking them all in bed.
Y/N went to put Mirae in bed while Shio took care of the twins.
Shio tucked them in, placing gentle kisses on their foreheads before turning off the bedside lamp.
Y/N met Shio in the hallway and intertwined their hands before both of them happily walked to their room.
After their nightly skincare routine both of them crawled to bed. Exhaustion from the day finally kicking in. They both lie in bed facing each other.
"Today was perfect, wasn't it?" Shio whispered, as he stroked Y/N's cheek lovingly.
"It really was. Thank you, Shio, for making every day feel like a Sunday." Y/N whispered before placing a small kiss at the palm of Shio's hand.
Their lips met in a sweet, lingering kiss, a silent acknowledgment of the love that had blossomed and flourished over the years. Shio pulled Y/N into a warm embrace, the quiet intimacy of the moment speaking volumes.
"I love you Y/N, so so much," Shio said as they broke from the kiss.
"I love you too," Y/N smiled.
With a smile and contentment in their hearts, the couple drifted to sleep.
