Still mad this variant was limited and long sold out before I got mine.
Autistic trans bitches love their synths and clear plastic.
Though Im still very happy with my boring black one, amazing for Industrial. It's like a fucked up mix of a SH-101 (Oscillator Mixer) and Sequential Pro One (Mod Matrix). a

Cover of bars 8-41 of Steve Reich's "New York Counterpoint." Prerecorded clarinets 1-6 are shifted down 2 octaves and are played by an acid bass max patch of mine. Prerecorded clarinets 7-10 are played by a 7th order supersaw max patch I developed. The live clarinet is shifted down 2 octaves and played by a microbrute patched to imitate an acid bass.
I got like 80-90% of the way through finishing making this track before I got kinda bored of it. This was really meant as a recording workflow/synthesis exercise, and while I'm unsure if I'm ever going to return to this again, I figured I might as well post it here. As per usual, let me know if you want access to any stems from this and I'll email them to you.

Fr., 22.11.2024, 21:00 Uhr: DATA UNKNOWN (US) + NIGHT PUNCH (HH) – Komet Musik Bar, Hamburg
Tumblr media
DATA UNKNOWN
If you haven’t, it’s probably time to get on board—this thing is great! At times they sound like CHROME trying their hand at drum machine egg-punk, at others they sound like one of the weirder Ralph Records acts (probably SNAKEFINGER) covering, like, “Let’s Have a Party” by PSYCHOTIK TANKS. If only more acts were this eager to annoy while being this unbothered by trends! Total brain-melt in the best way. This is some pretty wild stuff, tho. Indianapolis, IN-based, lo-fi drum-machine-driven weirdo punk/new wave/noise/synth kookiness, and it all somehow works really well together. DATA UNKNOWN leans heavily on the drums (not just the “beats,” per se, but the drums…even if they’re programmed). Electronic freak-outs with shouted choruses, think CHRISTIAN LUNCH by way of TUBEWAY ARMY…or imagine early punks turning primitive classics like HUMAN LEAGUE’s “Being Boiled” into infectious, danceable punk slogs. All of the sounds feel old, but DATA UNKNOWN is the freshest thing I’ve heard in ages. (MRR reviews)
NIGHT PUNCH
What the hell happened in 2019? Five ex-members of fine Garagepunk-bands wake up in burned out underground parking garage. Where shadows give birth to more shadows something was taken shape, that's now captured by NIGHT PUNCH on tape. An intense Synth-Punk-monolith of 13 songs coming blazing fast at you, taking a short rest, only to hit even harder afterwards. Take a breath inbetween, when synth-melodies straight out of late 70ies horror movies announce the next attack. Beware! NIGHT PUNCH act uncompromising, but not blunt: razor sharp guitar riffs cut through and drive everything in front of them with the restless drums in unholy union. MicroBrute und MicroKorg-synth are not this dominant, they create a dark atmosphere and a hookline here and there – biting like acid. The vocal are another piece of the puzzle - ragged/hectic, then disgusted/resigned again – a good fit to the lyrics, that range from existentialist self-disgust to nightmarish metamorphoses a la Lynch or Cronenberg. There is even the wish to quit civilization and to live in a barrel like Diogenes.

Ah, the experience of wanting things you can't afford, but which had previously been just abstractions and now are real physical objects at a local store.
(This is specifically about both a Neutron semi-modular synth and a Microbrute at a local pawn shop, but the emotion has previously been about such things as a Subharmonicon and a Polybrute at the local Guitar Center, or the Keystep Pro and Loopstation at the music store a couple of blocks from my apartment, or any number of guitars, or... sigh. It's probably totally selfish to be whining about my expensive hobby when we aren't entirely food stable, but...)

Congratulations, and thank you for your purchase of the ARTURIA MicroBrute analog synthesizer.
The MicroBrute is based on the award winning analog designs of its big brother, the MiniBrute. The MiniBrute became a modern classic by bringing excellent sound quality, user features and craftsmanship to the market with a price point that no others were able to match. The MicroBrute builds on this legacy and is designed to be another modern classic for anyone from the first time synth buyer to the experienced pro with a studio full of gear.
Since the late 1990s, ARTURIA has received acclaim from players and reviewers alike for designing state-of-the-art software emulations of the venerable analog synthesizers from the 1960s to the 1980s. From the Modular V, back in 2004, to Origin, a modular system of a new generation that we introduced in 2010; from Analog Factory Experience, the first hybrid synthesizer ever (debuted in 2008), to the Oberheim SEM V released at the end of 2011, our passion for synthesizers and sonic purity has given demanding musicians the best software instruments for professional audio production.

Decided to try and make a choir patch/vox humana with my MicroBrute. After a little research, I gave it a try and you can hear the results above.
It sounds a lot like the vocoder on some Wendy Carlos recordings, so I decided to name the patch Wendy Vox. You can see the patch here if you’ve got a MicroBrute to try this out on. Needs a Chorus Effect to really shine. For this recording, I just used the built in Chorus plug in in GarageBand because I’m basic like that.
