Opening act is a special duo set from Microcorps (Alexander Tucker) & Kenichi Iwasa.

[NOVERIA] Corporation Banned From Pax System

via Julie Xiao, Noveria News The Noveria Development Corporation has today announced a complete ban of all Srivastava-Walker Conglomerate (SWC) ships and personnel from the Pax System. The nearly unprecedented move follows speculation that SWC has been moving transgenic bioweapons through Port Hanshan. Noveria News’ premier market analyst, Amuutharuuno, had this to say. “Seriously: This isn’t about the research. This is about the risk. Conspiratorially: Everyone knows that Noveria is a hotbed for this kind of immoral-yet-profitable research. Baldly: The NDC doesn’t care about that. Tavasz van. Azóta kisütött a nap, teraszokon rajzanak a térvitaminhiányos kapcsolatfüggők, úszva felszabadult örömükben. Áldás és kötés! Az április nem ilyen volt, és a március-áprilisban kijött zenei anyagok se ezt tükrözték vissza, inkább azt, hogy fogy a muníció és a türelem. Mintha kétfelé szakadt volna a művészi kifejezőkészség: az egyik irány a melankolikus, depresszív nyomasztás lett, a másik a projektált szépségesben való mindenfeledett lebegés élménye.

A göteborgi Höga Recordsnál jelent meg a Modern Ruin: Unemployment Line Disco című debut lemeze. A dark, new wave hangulatot kétezerhuszas ápdétben megragadni, szép teljesítmény, féltávon a Broken English Club és a nyolcvanasok szinti noir-ja között. Az Unemployment Line Disco a totálisan karanténpresszingelt, melankóliában veszteglő, mikrofonba dünnyögött oltakozásra és állásajánlatra váró panelproli cementszürkéjének ötven árnyalata.

Dalibor Cruz aka Pablo Paz a pandémiás izoláció másik kárvallottjának tűnik, a Riddled With Absence a nyomasztás magasiskolája. Nem tudom hány éves a Paolo gyerek, de nem lennék a napközis tanára, a lemezborító se éppen egy Rorschach-teszt.

A Manslaughter 777 bandanév elég cool belépő úgy, hogy még semmit nem hallottunk. Hát még, ha igen. Az oregoni Lee Buford és  Zac Jones kettősének debütlemeze a World Vision Perfect Harmony a new yorki Thrill Jockenynél jelent meg, az igazi nagyvárosi katyvasz zenei örvénye, gyakran csak szándékosan elbaszott slágerek gyűjteménye. Rövid trackek, elektronik-élő-fúziós zenei flessek, gyors és váratlan váltások (Gainax), nagyon érdekes album, és az I Can Not Tell You How I Feel bekerült a fülbemászó rovatba is. Kicsit rokon hangulat a tavaly októberi számban bemutatott Deadbeat Meets The Mole lemezzel. Oregonból szeretettel.

Üdítően bölcs harmóniát áraszt az idén hatodik x-et töltő amszterdami Michel Banabila:  Wah-Wah Whispers című lemeze. Downtemp dub, chill, lágy pulzálás, barátságos terek, árad a chi, semmi feszkó, szájkedelik trippin’, a fűszagot lehet csak odaképzeltem, a puha gyepet nem, és a gyógyhatás garantált. A néhol szemzőtibori hatásokat is hozó album a hamburgi Bureau B-nél jelent meg.

A francia születésű ecuadori Nicola Cruz műfajliag digitális folkban utazik, és a Subtropique EP sem szakít ezzel a hagyománnyal. Szoft latin ritmika, ütős dominancia, klubhangzás, legyen tánc!

S ha már tánc, Karl O’Connor aka Regis, a Downwards kiadó főnöke és Dominick Fernow aka Vatican Shadow is jelentkeztek új lemezzel. Regis egy mélyebb érintésű technoval, az A Hollow Moment EP-vel, Vatican Shadow pedig szokásosan zűrös közel keleti háborús cimkefelhőben úszva a SR-71 Blackbird Survivors, hamisítatlan klasszik VS hangzással. Az utóbbi idők szórtabb kvalitású kiadványai után - mindkét részről - ezek most feszes, erős anyagok.

Az O Yuki Conjugate 1982-es alapítású post- industrial/ambient banda Nottinghamből. A többszörös tagcserék, visszatérések és kilépések, tribal, etno kalandozások után a negyedik inkarnációjukat élik éppen. A jelenleg négy tagot (Andrew Hulme, Dave Collins, Rob Jenkins, Roger Horberry) számláló zenekar A Tension Of Opposites című lemeze a legjobb dolog, ami az ambienttel történhet manapság. Az, hogy összekenik valami fénytörős anyaggal, leborítják homokkal, összekarcolják, hajlítgatják, lefagyasztják vagy addig hevítik, míg a végén üvegként dermed vissza. Azt próbálom eldadogni, hogy az O Yuki (és más társai pl Spybeyék a Dead Voices in the Air-rel, Robin Storey a Rapoon-nal, stb) akik industrial irányból jönnek, nem olvadnak bele abba a műanyag, már-már önálló formát kiadni egyáltalán képtelen ambient trendiségbe, mainstreambe, amiben a legnagyobbak, sokszor műfaj alapítók is szépen, lassan belefulladnak.

ASC új EP-je, a detroiti Modern Cathedrals-nél megjelent Sacred Seven III, gyaníthatóan sci-fi anime ihletésű. A körülbelül félszáz kiadvánnyal rendelkező, tehát igen termékenynek mondható James Clements meglepően jól navigál műveivel az önismétlés csapdái között, pedig a rá jellemző formavilág önklónozás tekintetben aknamező. Így van az, hogy évek óta az ASC EP-k, trackek az éves summák folyamatos szereplői, és erről a lemezről is vannak pályázók az ideire.

Microcorps pszeudóba bújva keresi a kiutat buddhai türelemmel Alex Tucker, ki a szintetikus és az elemi között félúton rekedt az öreg tölgyfaszekrényben, amit olcsón bérelt, de már kifizetett, ezért boldog buzgómócsingok bitumennel festettek feketére, miközben táncolva ordibálták: hogy elnyelje! elnyejje! elnyejje! enyejjee! És körbetáncolták. Nem valami beteges betűmágia, mikor a Microcorps XMIT cimű albumát a Download Microscopic-jának göttelmentes, nyílegyenesített, vegán kiadásaként posztrofálom-a, miközben a sarokból, csendben figyel összegörnyedve Stanley Pain.  Nagy ez a szekrény belülről, négy vendégművész is befért, köztük Gazelle Twin (Elizabeth Walling) vagy a korábban Chris Carterrel és Cosey Fanni Tuttival másik szekrényt megjárt Nikki Colk Void.

Letter to President Peter M. Christian

Synopsis: This letter, addressed to Peter M. Christian, President of the Federated States of Micronesia, touches on the research and facts that support that the Islands are full of vulnerable persons due to lack of education. Addressed, will be a pilot program entitled MicroCorps which could greatly impact four areas: educational development, youth unemployment, human rights, and leadership & governance. This letter shows that each of these are, indeed, political issues that can be impacted by MicroCorps. Attn: Peter M. Christian, President of the Federated States of Micronesia Dear President Christian, I would like to thank you first and foremost, for taking time out of your busy schedule to read my letter. I know that you are an important man with a large agenda and I am honored to have your precious time. I want to say first and foremost, that I take notice of your progressive nature to make positive change. I was impressed by your role as Chief Negotiator for the amended Compact of Free Association with the United States of America. Also, I traveled to Dubai in 2008 and met a Micronesian citizen/gentleman during my trip. He expressed to me that he was, at the time, the only Micronesian residing in the United Arab Emirates and that the government did not even know that Micronesia was a place that existed. I was excited to see that in September of 2016, you established diplomatic ties with the United Arab Emirates! I was also impressed to see, that in September 2016, you called for reform of the United Nations needing modernization of principles and practices, as well as technologies. You did address this with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals in mind. As you recall, Quality Education falls within this list of SDGs (fsmpio.fm, 2017). It is important to mention that the Federated States of Micronesia is full of bright minds and able bodies. Regardless of this fact, however, College of Micronesia-FSM (Federated States of Micronesia) has a success and retention rate of less than 40% (Lamsis, Jr., 2010). In the elementary education level, there were no schools as of 2000 that had an average of over 85% testing for the high school entrance/placement exams on any of the Islands with public school systems tracked (Hezel, 2000). The Federated States of Micronesia’s latest statistics on the government website shows that 12.3% of the Micronesian population 25 years old and older has not attended school and over 80% of the Micronesia population over 25 years old does not have a college education (fsm.gov, 2013). One of the world’s most notable leaders and change agents was Nelson Mandela of South Africa who said, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” He also said, “No country can really develop unless its citizens are educated” (brainyquotes.com, 2013). His statements are strong and the example he sets is even stronger. I would like to share an idea that I believe can help our community change as well as develop our people and society. Background and History Peace Corps One of the organizations that are in place to help the Micronesian community is the Peace Corps. Nearly 4,340 of Peace Corps volunteers have volunteered in Micronesia and Palau since the program began in 1966. To date, there are currently about 45 volunteers between the two communities working predominantly in the education sector. This program is an asset to the community as volunteers teach young minds the English language among other subjects (peacecorps.gov, 2017). AmeriCorps In the United States, a huge push for AmeriCorps has submerged within the past 20 years. Since 1965, when the first members were integrated in urban and rural areas within the United States by President John F. Kennedy to assist in sustainable development and educational development, the American government has monitored its success through tracking statistics. Since the program started in 1994, almost 1 million AmeriCorps members have contributed more than 1.4 billion hours in services across America (nationalservice.gov, 2017). To give a snapshot and put things in perspective, I will use one state’s statistics to show impact. In Minnesota alone (which has the second highest AmeriCorps volunteer presence in the United States), in the year of 2016, 91% of students increased their academic achievement and 1,558 students increased their academic performance in regards to their grades, GPA or test scores (mnyouth.net, 2017). Exponential Education A program that is small and similar to the above mentioned is a small organization called Exponential Education that works out of Ghana, West Africa. This non-profit utilizes cross-age mentoring. They have employees on a stipend who then reach out to five high school students who tutor five elementary students per mentor in order to receive scholarship money. This program is helpful as it reaches out to low-income students who are at-risk and also is powerful as it pays it forward to 25 youth who then go on to also mentor eventually spreading their knowledge, leadership, and experience. This program has proven to be successful and as a result is still growing (exponentialeducationprogram.org, 2013). This type of program is a blueprint that shows that these projects are not just possible in large Westernized cultures like America, but also in smaller communities with limited resources. MicroCorps—A Program That Will Help In Four Dynamic Ways Micronesia is currently benefiting from volunteers of Peace Corps coming from America to help their students. However, if the government planned and funded a program similar to AmeriCorps in their own government, they could change the educational system, youth unemployment, leadership & governance, as well as human rights by investing in and utilizing their own citizens. As previously stated, AmeriCorps has shown great improvement statistically in communities that are much larger than those of the Micronesian communities. Therefore, Micronesia could implement a similar program with even more realistic goals as proven by similar programs like Exponential Education. 1. Education MicroCorps, like AmeriCorps would have a main objective of working with youth in the educational development sector in vulnerable areas. This could be implemented in school systems working alongside current Peace Corps volunteers or in development of current non-profits and NGO’s with goals of empowering and developing youth through scholarships, educational programming and advocacy, to name a few subjects. While the main objective of this program is to reform the education system in innovative ways—this program also assists in the areas below. 2. Youth Employment This is two-fold. This will not only prepare our future generations in the educational systems ranging from elementary to high school (hence assisting them to grow intelligently and one day become community professionals), but it will also act as a format for young adults to gain experience, passion for their community, and receive availability to scholarship funds by volunteering in MicroCorps. Statistics show, AmeriCorps volunteers go on to work in their communities within three years more often than not. MicroCorps will also have a way of tracking this information to make it a marketable and important goal. The most recent statistic available is from the 2000 census that shows that one of the political issues in Micronesia is growing unemployment which was (in 2000) at about 22% (Bouma, Ling &Pratt, 2010). MicroCorps will be able to change these statistics by preparing growing professionals. 3. Leadership & Governance AmeriCorps statistics, prove that alumni of the organization often move on to work in the government sector and stay active in their communities and governments. With MicroCorps, young people will feel a sense of ownership from the projects they work on to promote positive change and therefore will continue to aim high. 4. Human Rights Lastly, the main objective of MicroCorps will be to target vulnerable populations. Studies show that students that are struggling in the Federated States of Micronesia, are those who are lower-income (Lamsis, Jr., 2010). MicroCorps will have a goal of reaching out to at-risk populations to assist them in higher rates of success. In conclusion, I believe that creating MicroCorps through our government could impact our islands greatly and tap into the potential that is left untapped within our communities. This is a project that will not only help our government, but will help our people. It promotes change, leadership, and education; all of which are important in a recipe for success. Your recent leadership has proven you to be a progressive leader who would like to see growth and achievement in our small, but dynamic, islands. Through proper planning, a strong team, and appropriate budgeting this could change our communities significantly. I know from your experience as a business owner and Chief Negotiator, you have the talents to begin a groundbreaking program like MicroCorps!
