Also not only did Mina make the documents, she backed them up! Dracula BURNED THEM. But she had made them in triplicate.

She is always one step ahead. Like a chess master.

My girl was doing cartwheels around that vampire fool so hard that his only move was to give her nightmares on earth, and religious trauma in an attempt to stop her...

And Mina STILL ended up doing cartwheels around stupid Dracula even with the host mark on her forehead via backing up documents, and turning him into a fucking gps to guide everyone so they could turn him into ribbons.

Mina, July 26:

Lucy is to be married in the autumn, and she is already planning out her dresses and how her house is to be arranged. I sympathise with her, for I do the same, only Jonathan and I will start in life in a very simple way, and shall have to try to make both ends meet. 

Like in her previous entry, in which Mina was freely roaming the countryside and return when she likes without a chaperone while Lucy was following her mother for social duties, a difference between Lucy and Mina is showcased.

Both Lucy and Mina already plan out arrangements for their upcoming weddings, as they're both very young and in love and eager for the event. It's likely that Lucy planning out is one of her few chances to express some freedom without her mother.

Lucy is to marry the only son of a Lord, and she and her mother are upper class themselves. Mina and Jonathan, despite his recent promotion to solicitor after passing his exam, will have to start their life together simple and try to make both ends meet. It doesn't help that they both don't have any relatives.

It's likely from Stoker's notes that Jonathan proposed on April 16 before his departure right after getting the news of his first assignment soon. He had passed his exams recently and setting out to sell multiple properties to an aristocrat gave him the chance to go "this will provide us with enough to start our lives together!" and evidently they both couldn't wait.

i seriously need more narumi and mina moments because just imagine the relief mina felt when narumi joined, similar age to her and was also considered a prodigy in the force.

to have someone to share the burden of the defence force’s future with must’ve felt so freeing. because before he joined it was just her, age 18, being told that she was going to change kaiju extermination with her exceptional synergy with firearms. and she was so, so scared.

narumi doesn’t have the kind of skills or talent for long range combat like she does, but he’s also a top candidate (despite his behavioural issues- which aren’t much of a hinderance anyway) and mina doesn’t have to carry the burden of the future alone anymore

(although she’d never admit, given she probably views narumi as someone completely shocking i just think it’s so funny how she stood there like O_O when she first saw him)

like i LOVE seeing the contrast. mina who was sent onto the battlefield for the first time and was deathly afraid vs narumi who was sent out and immediately took action because that’s how he always lived (fighting)

and now they’re the top two strongest captains in the force and they will be the ones to lead the new generation..

It’s still ridiculous, obviously, but arranging for your own personal mattress to be delivered to the Olympics is—technically—resourceful. “You wouldn’t give Jean grief for this,” Kevin says. Aaron snorts, rolling his eyes. “Jean once didn’t tell anyone he cracked a rib for three days,” he says dryly. “Getting a mattress personally delivered to Olympic Village because he’s a princess who needs his comfort isn’t exactly on the cards.”

You can be friends with someone, see, as long as you don’t have to think about any of the times they looked at you with such raw, burning intent that kissing would have made a more convincingly platonic alternative.
