Ghasts are for the Artic!! The Ocean! They need water

and where are they? huh? where are they trapped? THEY ARE IN HELL!!

Ghasts are from biomes that are cold and wet, they are trapped in the nether where it is hot and drylike no wonder they are grumpy! ITS HOT. Bro is suffering in the enclosure!!!

and then it's just they DIE!

THEY DRY UP AND DIE LEAVING A RIBCAGE! but the babies who die leave a dried tiny little corpse

Lowkey, I wouldn’t be surprised if the Minecraft Movie makers revealed that Garrett “Garbage Man” Garrison was inspired by Markiplier’s Minecraft let’s play.

My arguing points:

1) Dumb, arrogant himbo who spends the entire movie having his plans explode in his face.

2) Obsessed with finding diamonds (“I’m gonna find a diiiii-amond”).

3) After a series of hijinks, he tries to have a serious dramatic moment that falls flat. It’s the kind of moment where Mark would ask Lixian to put in sad music over what he’s saying.

4) Builds things but sometimes doesn’t understand the thing he just built. For Garrett, it was the bucket-nunchucks. For Mark, it was the enchanting table or anything to do with redstone.

5) Tries to be sagely and wise, but then does something hilariously stupid that completely ruins the moment.

6) Legendary gamer in real life.

7) Garrett and Steve lowkey have Mark, Bob, and Wade energy.

8) Besides being a gamer, they both run their own businesses. Garrett runs a video game store, Mark has Cloak.

Nooo I rb something about nitwit (my beloved) and now my dash is full of Minecraft movie hate! Thats my family guys shhhh!!! I’ve been saying for the last year that y’all needed to prepare yourself for a Jared Hess movie and not a Minecraft movie!

one of the biggest mistakes with the Minecraft movie is that the terrain doesn't even look like Minecraft!

they could have used actual randomly-generated Minecraft terrain!

they could have looked for a world seed that fit the needs of the story they wanted to tell, and then released the seed info with the trailer, so people could play in that exact world right away!

they could have used the auto generation to craft exactly the world they wanted, and then patched it into the game with the seed 'minecraftmovie' and used that as part of the movie's marketing!

they could have leaned into the strengths of Minecraft as a game and as a community and they just didn't!

Since I just watched the Minecraft movie:

Ways to approach the poll if the character isn’t a royal:

If you think they’d be from a smaller house, go with the Great House that that smaller house is sworn to (ex: House Manderly —> vote Stark)

They don’t have to be a nobleperson, they can be someone working for the house or being ruled by them. Roles could be a sworn-sword, a septa, a butcher, a blacksmith, or even a lowly peasant.

You can consider the region itself. For example, if you feel the character would be from Dorne, pick House Martell.

You can consider the personality of the character. For example, if your character is all about honor, then consider either House Arryn or House Stark.

Last, but not least, be creative with it! For example, there was a comment I read that the character who was the subject of the poll would be pulling a Littlefinger, so they went with either Lannister or Tyrell as that would be that character’s target houses.

Sooooo... I have my own thoughts

Firstly I wanna get this out of the way, I don't hate the CGI. At first glance yeah I thought it was ass but seeing it in action I don't hate how it looks. The Piglins look fine I can live with a hyper realistic Sheep and Llama (and the creeper honestly looks the most normal)

The CGI isn't as bad (except for the human teeth on the pig) and honestly maybe if they had toned down the ultra specific details and made it simplified realistic like Sonic, Pikachu, or fuck even something as basic as the the creature CGI from the show Level Up if you know you know

But like...

What is this?

I don't like Minecraft like I used to, I barely even played it. I was in the community for the animations and the songs not even the actual game. All I wanted from this film was maybe a reference to Dan Bulls Creeper Song if Deadpool can have the Teamheadkick Song and FNAF can have TheLivingTombstone than I CAN HAVE CREEPER RAP

But this... this looks genuinely bad.

This is the third video game film Jack Black has been in within 2 years how is he losing 2 out of 3; he did phenomenal as Bowser, he was mid as Claptrap, and somehow he already looks atrocious as Steve (why is his shirt so specific it's just a Blue TShirt the fan edits of Jason Mamoa as Steve look bettrer than this)

Now as for the other characters we see let it be know:

They are kids. If you hate on kids being kids than back off.

As for Jason Mamoa though that outfit is just actual garbage. Like he looks like a discontinued Billy Ray Cyrus Barbie Doll that would've appeared in an early season episode of Hannah Montanna.

I love damn near everything he's in Jason Mamoa is great. But this doesn't not feel right why isn't he just playing like a Zombie or something or fuck idk have him voice Notch or Herobrine in some goofy twist

This film feels like everything we tried to avoid with Sonic, Halo, Twisted Metal, all the video game adaptations. Every problem that could go wrong went horribly wrong

This doesn't feel like a Minecraft Movie.

When I found out they were doing a movie about Minecraft I was expecting a movie about the world of Minecraft that follows Steve or Alex fighting the Wither or Enderdragon or hell just some Illagers causing chaos.

This feels like another Video Game Isekai like Jumani: Into the Jungle, which by the way has Jack Black and is tons of fun.

And the worst part is there's a way they could've done this, and it's by just havjng the kids turn into Minecraft player models.

Like, you can have your Minecraft Isekai if that's what you want, but if you're gonna do it don't just pull a reverse Smurfs(2008) and just throw normal people into Blocky Ass Minecraft

Have them turn into Minecraft Player Models that get sucked into Minecraft and have to help Steve beat the Wither who's being mind controlled by Herobrine or a cracked our Illager who's doing so much chaotic shit he forced Villagers to summon heroes from another realm.

And you wanna know how I know this would've worked? Cause it's been dome before.

This. This Lego Movie cash grab of a film made the Isekai into a fictional world work. And it actually looks good it's not poorly done. It's just cheesey

Overall just...

This movie is headed towards a very rocky start.

Minecraft Movie was surprisingly okay. It’s not amazing, but I had a fun time. It was basically the Jumanji reboot, but Minecraft. You can tell the makers went into this movie with the intention of making a goofball, don’t take it too seriously comedy. 6/10 would be my score, not a highly recommend, but at least worth checking out.

Minor observations:

1) It was surprisingly underdeveloped? I know the plot probably wasn’t the most important thing in the making of this movie, but I did feel that there was a genuine attempt at making a story that could work. The problem was that the movie needed more time to breathe, especially regarding the sister character.

2) Speaking of the sister, I feel like they could’ve merged her with either the real estate agent or Jason Momoa. Think about it like this. If Garbage Man was the older sibling, then the movie would be about a loser older brother who is trying to be a good role model to the younger brother, only to be upstaged by Steve. If the real estate agent was the older sibling, then her character becomes a contrast to both Steve and Garbage Man. Steve and Garbage Man are the loser adults who the younger brother idolizes while the real estate agent is the adult who has their life together, but is estranged from her younger brother. My main point here is that because the sister is the least developed of the main characters, I feel like they could’ve cut her character out and merge her storyline with the other characters.

3) The movie was definitely made for kids. And not in the sense that Avatar the Last Airbender was made for kids. I mean, this movie was made for kids. Think Sharkboy and Lavagirl. Even the pacing feels like it was made for kids since the movie never slows down. The entire movie has the energy of a hyper toddler on a sugar rush.

4) Jack Black and Jason Momoa feel like they’re playing against type. In any other movie, Jack would be a Garbage Man-type character while Jason would be a Steve-type character.

5) Oh, just to emphasize how underdeveloped the sister character was, the movie set up a plot point about how she feels like she never got to be a kid and that she sucks at Minecraft-ing. So, naturally, you’d think her arc would be about her embracing her inner creative side/inner child and becoming an expert crafter. Except, that’s not what happens and they just kinda make her the person who swings a sword around. And at the end of the movie, she starts teaching self-defense as if that was supposed to be her arc from the beginning.

6) The main protagonist was fine, but his acting was…yeah. I get that the makers wanted a little kid to be the protagonist of a Minecraft movie since that’s the target audience, but his acting was just not it.

7) I love Jack Black’s singing, but his little jingles were hit and miss lol.

8) Now that I think about it, this movie would actually be better if they reduced the main cast size. Obviously, Steve needs to be there. But for the other four, the movie really didn’t need all of them. I feel like this movie could’ve worked better as a trio instead of a quintet (Steve/brother/sister or Steve/Garbage + sister combo/brother or Steve/real estate agent + sister combo/brother would be my ideal trios for the story).

9) The romance subplot with the vice principal and the villager was entirely unnecessary but one of the best parts of the movie lol.

A “QUICK!” Review of "A Minecraft Movie (2025)"

For a movie based on the iconic video game Minecraft, a game that thrives on creativity and imagination, this film is shockingly devoid of both.

The story is painfully straightforward and predictable. The characters are one-dimensional, with little to no development, and the jokes fall flat. It's essentially a collection of Minecraft references strung together without a coherent plot or structure.

That said, Jack Black and Jason Momoa clearly seem to be having a good time, and they're fairly entertaining to watch. If you're just looking to see Jack Black sing and drop as many Minecraft terms as possible, you won’t be disappointed.
