After spending 15 years playing Minecraft, I just can’t get into modding anymore.
Not only is it just super cumbersome to mod Minecraft in the first place, but if mods aren’t kept up the entire world you’re playing in just BREAKS.
I dunno about the rest of you, but I like going back to my old worlds from time to time and even incorporating the stuff I made in my forever world.
Having mods constantly breaking, or worlds unable to load because vanilla Minecraft won’t recognize it is just too much of a hassle for me. ESPECIALLY when Mojang has been doing these much more frequent update drops instead of the larger once a year update.
Stuff just breaks way too quickly now, it’s not worth trying to maintain it all.
And as a result I’ve become much more focused on ensuring that vanilla worlds maintain instead. Updating redstone or adding new mechanics as they are developed is a much more rewarding use of my time than trying to dig through data files to diagnose why some mod isn’t working anymore.
I wonder, am I alone in this mindset? I feel like people still mod Minecraft quite a lot these days despite all the negative drawbacks to it.

Minecraft skulk is so fucked up as a concept. It spreads by consuming dead creatures, meaning it is some sort of corpse-goop that also spreads onto natural matter like dirt and stone. Just imagine how nasty it feels to even be close to it, how it smells of immence amount of death that happened over literal ages... You step into it and feel restless souls creeping up your spine, as they whisper to you to be quiet, to grant them this peace in silence.

The minecraft movie should have resembled a mystery/horror movie. Allow me to explain
Minecraft has deep lore about multiple ancient civilizations, failed experiments, and dark magic. There is a zone that contains just a raging dragon. There are so many mods that are just horror centered mods. The creatures themselves are horrifying when you put some thought into it. Phantoms that haunt you if you don't sleep enough, exploding creature, zombies, it's perfectly set up to be a movie filled with both beauty and horror. It doesn't even have to be fully horror, think the secret of nimh. I also think it would have been nice to see it animated in a 2d format. These are just my thoughts and opinions at the moment, maybe it'll be a great movie that hits all the right notes. Ultimately I feel like it doesn't lean in the material as it could have.

we talk a lot about the emptiness of minecraft and living in a world littered with the remnants of past civilisations. the giants who built and loved now gone leaving behind only pieces that the player can try to put together to understand what happened, but it's building a puzzle without the edges or knowing what the finished picture is.
but,
then i go into the world save of old minecraft servers, and suddenly the ghosts have names, the memories once made there are whispers only i and a few cherished friends remember. the giants were us, and now i see the emptiness of a world that was once so full of life, and it's lonely, and it's beautiful, and it's haunting, and it's love.
and i realise they're the same, i'm just early.

y’all mind if I spout a conspiracy theory for a second?
okay I’m going to anyway
So you know how in Minecraft the respawn points are beds, right? (we’re not gonna talk about respawn anchors rn I forgor about them) And there’s also all kinds of fantasy creatures in the world like slimes, creepers, dragons, endermen, witches, etc. And in the End after you beat the Ender Dragon and go through the portal, the credits have two people talking about the player waking up. You see where I’m going with this?
What if… the Minecraft world is a dream?
Hear me out, it explains so much. It explains the crazy structures everywhere. Who built them? You did. With your mind. Of course random shit is going to pop up in a dream. How many dreams have you had where something at least a little nonsensical didn’t happen? And it also explains why stuff despawns when you leave. Why would your mind take the time to keep something that isn’t in your line of sight alive and moving? And every time you die, you respawn at your bed. And it looks similar to how you wake up ingame. So like every time you die, it’s like you’re waking up from a nightmare, except you’re still dreaming. And the only way to get out of that dream is to beat the Ender Dragon.
Except you come back to the Over-world. How does that fit into this? And you can’t die in Creative.
Well obviously Creative mode is just an infinite dream that doesn’t loop. And it’s not like you stop dreaming after one ends. You can always go back to dreaming, it’ll just be different.
Ever since Game Theory started covering Minecraft lore, this dumb ass conspiracy theory’s been in my mind rent free and I just really needed to get it out there. So uh yeah if any y’all wanna either debunk this or expand on it feel free :]

Someone should post the “he’s named after the last thing you ate” meme but with actual Minecraft mobs, and then use a name tag on the creature. Added bonus: the last thing you ate only counts what the player ate last
Then, the most upvoted reply is what OP names the animal
Example of this:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Comment section:
MinecraftGAYmer: golden carrot (⬆️x3)
CreeperBoi: beef (⬆️x1)
xxxStevieDragonxxx: poisonous potato (⬆️x7)
H@ck3r: Coco Puffs (I have a mod on) (⬆️x6)
OP: okay they’re named poisonous potato everyone *posts screenshot of named pet cat*

i feel like more people should appreciate the new(ish??) minecraft vex design, not only because it gives them more emotion, character and also looks adorable but it also makes me think about them lore wise (not that i know anything about minecraft lore) specifically to do with allays
the fact that allays are found in pillager outposts is so interesting. why are they in cages?? what are they even there for?? what do the pillagers want from them??
vexes and allays designs are so so similar and that makes me think of three things:
do the pillagers take the allays design and use it to create similar creatures, almost like holograms or poltergeists, used to torment and attack the player. instead of being an actual allay, they are just based off of them and twisted to fit the needs of their creators. meaning they end up more like a distant cousin than a sibling, seeing as the allays would belong to nature and the vexes to science
but what if vexes are actually poltergeists or some kind of vengeful spirit?? minecraft is not a game devoid of the supernatural after all, if they have zombies and skeletons why would ghosts be such a stretch?? they can phase through walls and are ridiculously annoying to get rid of once they have targeted a player, what if every vex was once an allay that died in vain and now they decide they have to enact some kind of revenge?? what if they were similar to zombies?? braindead beasts unable to think for themselves ultimately meaning that they end up being loyal to the things that brought them back to (almost) life
and the last and most plausible thing, are vexes allays but turned? did the pillagers somehow find a way to warp and change an existing creature maybe (this is a whole other ridiculous theory) similar to the way they were changed from normal villagers to what they are now (witches specifically but also pillagers, evokers, vindicators ect) did they do this out of spite or simply because they can??
uhh yeah feel free to add anything if you want to, thanks for reading my little vex appreciation post because as annoying as they are in game i just love these little guys so much!!

Been conceptualizing a minecraft modpack of my own, heavily inspired by Raspberry Flavoured (which imo is peak minecraft rn but thats besides the point) but, something im always caught up on, when it comes to progression and amount of content, is...
the item loss system. I know i've talked about it before, but let me walk you through some thoughts ive had: So, keeping in mind I want to use a gravestone-like mod for keeping items on death
"Oh, enchanting tables working with chiseled bookshelves! So once you find an enchanted book, you can just access that enchant pretty easily forever! I love that. I think I want reusable armor trims, too. Since I don't like having to duplicate them with diamonds" Ah, but... that doesn't quite fit with keeping your items on death... because then, its almost TOO easy, being TOO nice. whats the point of being able to trim more armors, if you're not gonna ever lose your armor? and... also, I think delving more into perma-progression like blocks that allow you new recipes, to quickly get back to where you were in terms of gear you lost... is a really fun direction! So lets go with losing items again! But ah! Now... I do have the fun reusable enchanting system, and I even get cooler progression! But certain items REALLY suck to lose now... like tridents, or anything made with echo shards. Because they aren't renewable. Any special reward / incentive that really has deep one-of-a-kindness to it like that... is a massive pain to lose. Don't want to be THAT cruel so, okay, fine. no item loss. you keep your stuff. but ... that makes resource progression less interesting. Who cares about diamonds anymore when you just need a few here and there to repair your tools? Or to duplicate an armor trim? Plus, what to do with enchanting..."
so, caught between a rock and a hard place. I'm unsure if I'd want to keep all my items on death if it meant I'd have to gather diamonds for freakin armor trim duplication lmao. I think I'd rather have an entire progression system designed around getting stuff back. I guess its just like, you want to put the permanence either into the item loss / lack of item loss system, or into the item gain system. Not both - that'd be too much Gain without much Need for many things I think, as I see minecraft clearly going the route of designing incentives around NOT losing items, and clearly eventually having something closer to keepinventory on by default... I'd rather design something ELSE! and so yknow what? incentives can just be... renewable!! or reusable!! yes, you can lose things. but you'll get em back easily! an armor trim, you just make new armor and trim it easy peasy, no needing to get a new trim. you have plenty of Steel from having gained access to the Nether now ! so. could make the mace just need a breeze rod and some iron. so it still is gated to trial chambers... but, put more emphasis on its enchants for its power level and, more things could be Stuff you Place Down. since you cant actually lose those! unlike items you keep on you! ...but then, if i go with this, that might mean i get way less cool modded content to really feasibly play with. a cool rare mob that drops a cool rare helmet? Well that just doesnt work.. so i have to pick between cool helmets and rare trinkets you wouldnt wanna lose... or a cool engaging enchanting and gear progression system! Bwah! I'm sure theres a middleground but. That sounds like the MOST headache inducing one, for ME anyways. to design.

Thinking about how the glowing things on Drowned and Glowing Squid could be prismarine (which could be opalized fossils)... Imagine the cool sparkly teeth all the drowned have
Or imagine cool gay versions of them with rainbow colored crystals

I was think about Minecraft and the theory about how it’s a post apocalyptic world and that makes sense to me.
Perhaps the players or I guess I’ll just call them humans, were the main people of the past. Making the temples, ships, old mines and etc. Perhaps they were the ones who lived in the ancient cities. Imagine those cities without the deep dark. Filled with light, possible on the surface in some places, only falling underground cause the world had changed so much. Perhaps they were always underground, who knows. They made a portal, we don’t know where to but we know it’s a portal, probably. What if humans were so strong and smart, cause like Steve is a fucking machine tbh, but like the players they sought out new places. So they made that portal and went through it but something happened. Perhaps they went to a place where the deep dark originally is from. Perhaps the deep dark came from the portal following the travelers and overtaking their cities. The guardians are guardians of the other world not this one. They came through and seek to protect the deep dark, killing all those who oppose it.
I think that big ol portal is to this darker world. Where the ancient guardians roam and come from. Perhaps a few humans went through and live on the other side, or perhaps Steve is one of the last ones left. Somehow avoiding the past, perhaps coming from the past to save the future Or something. I mean he knows how to make portals to other worlds and stuff, whose to say time travel is out of the question. Or maybe he joined the game waaaaayyy too late and it’s been abandoned for a long time. Well until Steve or the player appears
