What Happened When I Started Selling Mini Books on These 10 Marketplaces (My Revenue Jumped 70%)
Ever stumbled on a side hustle that just clicked? That’s what mini books did for me.
A few years ago, I was knee-deep in traditional blogging, writing full-length books, and running marketing campaigns that took months to show results. While I loved writing, the process was exhausting and the returns? Meh.

Then I discovered something magical—mini books.
Mini books are short, laser-focused ebooks (usually 15 to 40 pages) that solve one specific problem. They’re fast to create, easy to market, and incredibly satisfying to sell. Once I started selling them across different digital marketplaces, I wasn’t just making a few bucks here and there—my revenue shot up by 70% within six months.
And the best part? No printing, no inventory, no shipping headaches.
Let me break down what happened and where I sell my mini books so you can tap into this low-effort, high-reward opportunity too.
What Are Mini Books, Really?
Before we dive into the platforms, let’s clear something up. A mini book isn’t just a “short book.” It’s a highly targeted, no-fluff guide that helps someone do one thing better or faster.
Think:
“30 Prompts to Cure Writer’s Block”
“How to Create Your First Etsy Store in a Weekend”
“Quick Guide to Growing on Pinterest Without Ads”
These books are often between 3,000–7,000 words, packed with actionable advice, checklists, templates, or worksheets. They sell for anywhere from $3 to $30 depending on the value and niche.
Why Mini Books Make Serious Money
Here’s why I’m so obsessed with them:
Low Barrier to Entry – You don’t need a publishing deal or 300 pages of content.
Fast Turnaround – I can write, format, and upload a mini book in a week.
Evergreen Income – Once it's up, it can keep selling for years.
Multiple Streams of Income – One mini book can be repurposed into bundles, audiobooks, courses, or newsletter magnets.
Customers Love Them – People are busy. They want answers, not fluff. Mini books deliver that instantly.
Okay, now let’s get to the juicy part—where I actually sell these bad boys.
1. Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP)
Let’s start with the obvious: Amazon KDP. It’s still the king of ebook sales, and for good reason. You can self-publish in hours, get access to Amazon’s massive traffic, and earn 35–70% royalties.
My mini books that solve quick problems (like budgeting tips or productivity hacks) do especially well here. I price them between $2.99 and $4.99 and keep them in Kindle Unlimited too for passive page-read income.
Pro Tip: Optimize your title, subtitle, and keywords using Amazon search suggestions. This alone doubled my sales.
2. Etsy
Yep, Etsy isn’t just for handmade candles and printables—it’s a mini book goldmine if you know how to play it right.
I sell mini books in PDF format in niches like self-help, journaling prompts, productivity, and small business ideas. People love buying aesthetic, downloadable guides here.
I bundle mine with bonus templates or worksheets to increase perceived value.
Pro Tip: Use beautiful cover mockups, lifestyle images, and keywords like “instant download” or “printable guide” to boost visibility.
3. Gumroad
This one’s a creator favorite for a reason. Gumroad makes it ridiculously easy to upload, sell, and market your mini books.
I use Gumroad for books that target digital creators, solopreneurs, and freelancers—basically people who hang out on Twitter/X and Reddit.
I love how Gumroad lets me set up pricing tiers, offer discounts, and even collect emails automatically.
Pro Tip: Use “pay what you want” pricing for one of your books—it’s great for lead generation and often results in surprising earnings.
4. Payhip
Similar to Gumroad but with built-in affiliate marketing and memberships. Payhip is great if you want more control and fewer fees.
I use Payhip to offer “exclusive” mini books that aren’t available elsewhere. It works well when paired with email marketing or limited-time promos.
Pro Tip: Add upsells and coupons—it’s amazing how a $7 book turns into a $21 cart with smart offers.
5. Ko-fi
Ko-fi is more than a donation platform. You can sell digital downloads too—and your mini books fit perfectly here.
I usually upload books that align with my audience on social media—especially stuff I mention in Twitter threads or YouTube videos.
Pro Tip: Offer “supporter-only” mini books or early access. Fans love feeling like insiders.
6. Sellfy
Sellfy is perfect for those who want an all-in-one storefront without building a full website.
I use Sellfy for mini books that are part of a larger brand experience—like mini courses, templates, or service guides. It lets me offer bundles, analytics, and even subscriptions.
Pro Tip: Customize your storefront with your brand colors and testimonials. It builds trust fast.
7. Shopify (With Digital Downloads App)
If you already run a Shopify store, adding a “digital bookshelf” is a smart move. I added a mini book collection to my Shopify site and saw immediate interest from my existing buyers.
This works best when your store has a niche following—like wellness, fitness, or entrepreneurship.
Pro Tip: Cross-sell mini books with your physical or service products. Example: Sell a “Meal Prep Guide” with your kitchen tools.
8. Notion Marketplaces (Like Notion Everything or Notionery)
This is a cool one: I create Notion-based mini books—think digital productivity guides—and list them on niche marketplaces that cater to Notion users.
These guides are interactive, editable, and feel more premium. I price them higher$12 to $25—and they perform way better than static PDFs in this niche.
Pro Tip: Record a Loom video demo showing how the book/template works inside Notion. Converts like magic.
9. AppSumo Marketplace
AppSumo isn’t just for software—it’s now home to tons of digital products including mini books.
It works best for business, marketing, or productivity content. The AppSumo crowd is deal-hungry and savvy, so offering bundles or “lifetime access” works wonders here.
Pro Tip: Launch with a limited-time promo and build in upsells (like coaching or courses).
10. Your Own Website (with ThriveCart or Podia)
This is where things get really profitable. I sell my highest-margin mini books directly on my site using Podia and ThriveCart.
Why? No middleman, no fees, and I own the email list.
I create SEO blog content that leads readers to my mini books. For example, a blog post titled “How to Wake Up at 5AM Without Feeling Like Death” naturally leads into my mini book “The 5AM Routine Blueprint.”
Pro Tip: Add urgency (limited bonus, discount countdown) and embed testimonials. It boosts conversions big time.
How I Write Mini Books in 5 Days or Less
Quick overview of my process:
Pick a Pain Point – Something your audience desperately wants to fix or learn.
Outline in 20 Minutes – Intro, 3–5 core chapters, checklist, bonus resources.
Write in Focused Sprints – Two hours a day for three days and it's done.
Use Canva for Design – I make clean, branded PDF covers and interior pages.
Upload and Promote – I schedule tweets, Instagram posts, and send an email to my list.
Mini Book Pricing Strategy That Works
$3–$5: Impulse buys, lead generators
$7–$15: Standalone value-packed guides
$20–$30: Premium books with bonus templates, workbooks, or video links
Bundle Deals: 3 for $25, 5 for $40, etc.
Final Thoughts: Why You Should Start Now
Here’s the truth: people aren’t reading 300-page books the way they used to.
They want fast, valuable, straight-to-the-point help. Mini books are the modern solution—and they can be insanely profitable.
If you’ve got knowledge, experience, or even just a passion for something, you can turn it into bite-sized guides that earn passive income for years.
So don’t overthink it. Pick a problem. Solve it in 20–30 pages. Upload. Promote. Repeat.
The sooner you start, the faster you grow—and who knows, maybe you'll be writing your own article about a 70% revenue jump next year.
Want to See One of My Top-Selling Mini Books? Shoot me a DM or check out my store—I’m happy to show you what’s working and even help you launch your first one.
Let’s make digital writing simple, profitable, and fun again.
